GameStop is gearing up to kick off its next big sale this weekend. The retailer's annual Spring Sale will begin this Sunday, March 28, and run all next week, ending Saturday, April 3. As usual, the GameStop Spring Sale will bring a medley of game deals for PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch as well as discounts on collectibles and accessories.GameStop has released a preview of its Spring Sale deals ahead of time, so we're rounding up the best ones here. The sale doesn't have any particularly mind-blowing offers, but there are a few things worth calling out. There's a preowned games sale that's a good opportunity to snag a bunch of older games for relatively cheap--the offer lets you pick five games for $50 (they must be preowned games under $20 though). In terms of new games, some of the best game deals include Yakuza: Like a Dragon for $40, Little Nightmares II for $20, and Persona 5 Royal for $30. You can also pick up Splatoon 2 for $50--that's not a huge discount, but Splatoon 2 rarely crops up in sales like this, so it's notable.Game dealsPreowned games -- get five for $50 (on titles under $20)Assassin's Creed Valhalla -- $30 ($60)BioShock: The Collection -- $20 ($50)Borderlands: Legendary Collection -- $20 ($50)Immortals Fenyx Rising -- $30 ($60)Just Dance 2021 -- $30 ($50)Little Nightmares II -- $20 ($30)Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection -- $20 ($40)Persona 5 Royal -- $30 ($60)Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition -- $30 ($40)Splatoon 2 -- $50 ($60)Star Wars Squadrons -- $20 ($40)XCOM 2 Collection -- $20 ($50)Watch Dogs Legion -- $20 ($60)Yakuza: Like a Dragon -- $40 ($60)Aside from games, accessories and gaming tech are seeing discounts in the GameStop Spring Sale as well. If you have more than one pair of Joy-Cons, you can snag PowerA's Joy-Con Charging Dock for $20, letting you charge four Joy-Con controllers at once. GameStop is also releasing a Razer PC gaming bundle that gets you the Cynosa Lite gaming keyboard, Viper Mini gaming mouse, and Gigantus V2 gaming mouse mat for $70 during the Spring Sale. And if you're in need of a cheap gaming chair, the Victorage gaming chair will be $40 off and is made of thick PVC faux leather, reclines up to 145 degrees, and comes with head and lower back pillows.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ally McBeal, the popular Fox legal dramedy that ran for five seasons from 1997 to 2002, is reportedly being considered for a revival, according to Deadline. The report, which repeatedly makes it clear nothing is yet officially moving forward on such a series, says as of this writing the idea of bringing Ally McBeal back is only being "explored."Unnamed sources have told Deadline that original series creator David E. Kelley (Netflix's The Lincoln, ABC's Big Sky) is "expected to have some involvement in the project, but likely not as a writer." Calista Flockhart, who became a household name in the titular role, "has been approached about reprising her role, but there have been no formal talks."In the largely pre-internet and pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series had both the distinction of commanding over 11 million viewers on average across its first three reasons, and also casting Robert Downey Jr., before he ultimately bowed out due to substance abuse issues. In 2021, the series is likely best remembered for it launching Lucy Liu's career, plus featuring a co-ed bathroom and vivid fantasy sequences, including the early internet sensation dubbed "Dancing Baby."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Valheim's first big content update will expand your options when building the ultimate Viking purgatory residence, adding new features and objects for developing your bases in the open-world survival game. It's called Hearth and Home, and it's specifically aimed at base improvements, as well as adjustments to food that should make survival in the wilds of Valheim a little more practical.Since Valheim has racked up some six million players, developer Iron Gate Studio has said it's mostly focused on bug fixes, and the massive influx of players has been more than the developer anticipated. But right now, there are four big updates planned for the game, with Hearth and Home being the first. Here's everything we know about it so far.Valheim Hearth And Home Release DateBack in February, Iron Gate released a roadmap of planned additions for Valheim that are coming to the game as it continues in Early Access. That roadmap includes several updates for 2021, the first being Hearth and Home. The roadmap doesn't include firm dates, but given that Hearth and Home was the first on the list, we can probably expect it sooner rather than later.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It's not hard to see how much the cinematic landscape has changed in the last 15 years. Record-breaking comic book movies dominate the box office, punctuated by the occasional Fast and Furious film. Keanu Reeves' John Wick is a huge property now, but it took a Fantastic Fest viewing to get executives excited about a small, low-budget action film with spartan VFX and a dense mythology, according to co-director David Leitch in an interview with Deadline."For [co-director Chad Stahelski] and I, [John Wick] was a struggle financially," Leitch said. "We were first-time directors, co-directing, but we were very cohesive in our vision of what we wanted. I think that we just knew with all the restrictions we had, we wanted to get real good material every day and stay true to the character and get the great performance out of Keanu, and just keep focused on that. Because at that financial level, for all the things that we wanted to do in our minds, we'd had second unit budgets that were bigger than this production’s budget and so our appetite was always to pushing the box out. We got the movie cut and edited, and we had a great editor who helped us carve out the story.""We presented that movie to the buyers and..." The Suicide Squad's "red band" trailer hit today to near-universal praise. The short trailer was so full of characters and lines that it would be easy to miss even a big Easter egg, so director James Gunn called out his favorite on Twitter.Did you see him in the trailer? It only makes sense that the actual creator of #TheSuicideSquad is the one to put the bombs in their heads (and it helped that John Ostrander was actually a former actor.) https://t.co/w8k8uvWkld pic.twitter.com/kdhxzM16Th — James Gunn (@JamesGunn) March 26, 2021The cameo was called out first by comics writer (and top-tier Twitter troll) Gail Simone, who has previously worked on Suicide Squad."Did you see him in the trailer?" Gunn wrote. "It only makes sense that the actual creator of [The Suicide Squad] is the one to put the bombs in the their heads (and it helped that John Ostrander was actually a former actor.)" You're not going to know Ostrander from anything, as he was a theater actor up until the early 1980s, when he moved into writing comics. Since then he's written stories about the Suicide Squad, Batman, Aquaman, the Punisher, the X-Men, and a whole bunch of Star Wars comic books.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Even wearing a mask with its forehead forever drawn into an angry point, Ben Affleck's Batman seems really sad in Zack Snyder's Justice League. The movie kicks off with Superman's death, and the entire rest of the story is funereal because of it. And almost nobody is mourning harder than Batman--because really, this is all his fault. And here's the thing about Sad Batman: It's one of the best conceptions of the character we've had in a while. To understand why Sad Batman is a good thing for the Dark Knight, we have to understand what, exactly, is making him so sad. That takes us back to Batman v. Superman, the Zack Snyder Superman movie that sets the stage for Justice League. That movie opens with a callback to the movie before it, Man of Steel, in which Superman wrecked a big chunk of Metropolis as he fought the evil Kryptonians led by General Zod. Turns out, Bruce Wayne was in town that day and lived through the horrific destruction wrought by two godlike aliens kicking the crap out of each other in the vicinity of mere mortals. This made Batman angry, and he started to think Superman was not such a great dude.Batman v. Superman is about the two heroes each thinking the other is a bad guy who needs to be brought down. The situation is exacerbated by Lex Luthor, who passes notes between the heroes like he's in middle school. Then Batman and Superman have their iconic "Martha" moment, find common ground, and unite to fight Luthor's new monster, Doomsday. Also Wonder Woman is there. Anyway, Superman dies beating Doomsday and saving the world, but the entire situation could have been avoided if Batman hadn't been so dang stubborn and self-assured about judging who's good and who's bad.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

For all its automated systems, Loop Hero can be incredibly stressful. Battles play out without any input from you, navigation loops over a predetermined path, and resources are collected for you, but that doesn't mean you can take your eyes off the battlefield for even a second. This captivating mix of familiar genres demands constant attention, testing your ability to think well into the future when making your moves. It's a riveting balance of risk and reward wrapped in a deviously challenging roguelite that will tempt you into pushing forward for just one more round.Loop Hero is a distinct mish-mash of multiple genre ideas, none of which influence gameplay enough to easily classify the overall gameplay experience. Loop Hero is primarily a run-based role-playing game in which you indirectly control a hero through procedurally generated loops. Instead of controlling the hero's movements, you mainly control what they encounter by placing objects on the loop that create the world--things like cemeteries that can spawn skeletons, villages that can heal you, or swamps that generate nasty mosquitos. These are provided by cards that you draw from a limited deck which you can edit between runs, letting you curate each one to a degree. And while your hero automatically navigates in circles and resolves fights with enemies without any inputs, you also manage their inventory carefully to deal with the increasing challenges that each new round trip brings.Instead of controlling the hero's movements in Loop Hero, you control what they encounter on the loop.Ultimately, Loop Hero challenges you to balance risk and reward by keenly considering all the options your current cards give you to make your next loop challenging, but not deadly. Each run is an opportunity to gather resources you use to expand your camp in the hub world, unlocking new cards, classes, and abilities to use on subsequent runs. Enemies drop specific resources that you'll need to further progress outside of each expedition, giving you incentives to place multiple groves for wild, mutated dogs or dimly lit houses that can spawn bloodthirsty vampires on tiles around them. With each new addition to the loop, you're also extending the time it takes to make a trip around it, which directly affects spawn rates of enemies that are tied to a persistent day-night cycle. While a tile might seem harmless when it's only adding one enemy to the loop every day, it can become dangerous when the route is stuffed to the point where an entire group might be waiting the next time you make it around again.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Mario loves collecting coins, but we seriously doubt he can afford the sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. currently available for purchase. The NES hit, still in pristine condition, is being sold online for over $300,000. Should the price go much higher, it will break the record for the most expensive video game item ever sold. You can view the game for yourself on the Heritage Auctions website. Rated at a 9.6/10 in terms of its quality, the sealed copy is from mid-production for the game, between 1986 and 1987, and even has a perforated cardboard hangtab still attached. Less than a year ago, a separate copy of the game sold for only about one-third what this game is going for.You might need cheat codes to afford this one. Proxy bidding for the game will continue for the next seven days, with the auction itself planned for April 1 through April 4. We'll keep an eye on the listing to see how high the price can go.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It's now 2021, and in these glorious days of ray tracing and DLSS technology and such, it's relatively easy for the average gamer to build a rig, grab a 4K display, and be on their merry way. But more pixels isn't necessarily the winning move when thinking about what to look for in a gaming monitor, and all the graphical horsepower in the world doesn't mean much if you can't display it in its full glory. There's an entire alphabet soup of monitor technologies to consider when choosing the display that's going to be your new best friend going forward, and prettiest or more advanced doesn't always mean best for your experience or your wallet. If you're looking to buy a new monitor in 2021, here's what you should know about monitor technologies in order to find the best display for you.Screen resolutions and sizesScreen resolution is perhaps the most obvious feature of any monitor panel, and it's likely the first setting many PC gamers go running to as soon as they start a new game. A monitor's screen resolution represents the number of horizontal pixels x the number of vertical pixels they display. Now, as most PC gamers know, PC games support a slew of potential resolutions ranging from 640x480--i.e. your average, ancient CRT monitor, and probably what you played Oregon Trail on in grade school--all the way up to 8K (7680x4320)--which will probably be awesome when there's more than just random nature documentaries on YouTube running it natively. Despite the wild list that comes up when starting a new PC title, though, there are four benchmark resolutions you're most likely to see when choosing a gaming monitor:Common screen resolutionsPixels720p1280x7201080p1920x10801440p2560x14404K3840x2160These screen resolutions perfectly conform to the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio that the vast majority of monitor panels are manufactured under and that the vast majority of modern video content--gaming or otherwise--is formatted with. Even among these resolutions, there are some considerations to make. 720p monitors aren't long for this world, but those displays are definitely still out there. For one, they're relatively cheap, and more than that, for folks running super low-spec PC rigs, 720p is a perfectly viable step down to give your CPU/GPU some breathing room while still producing a high-definition image. On the opposite end, 4K resolution is the current gold standard--for now--but running a game at 4K requires a lot of horsepower, and not all 4K monitor technologies are up to the task. Right in the middle is 1080p, which is currently the most common resolution for desktops and laptops the world over.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
