Today's long-awaited Verdansk nuke event in Call of Duty: Warzone isn't going smoothly. Warzone players on Reddit are reporting being stuck in unmoving server queues (and have now expanded to impact CoD: Black Ops Cold War, too). The event began at 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST and was only scheduled to run for two hours, making it a real problem that some players were unable to get right in--and leading to some anger (and memes) from fans on Twitter. Activision has since extended the event by an hour and is now set to end shortly as of the time of this writing.Activision has commented on the apparent struggle players are going through to log on to Call of Duty: Warzone. In a tweet posted by the Activision Support account, the company said, "We're actively investigating an issue with long wait times in the server queue for Warzone." Players trying to get into a game of Call of Duty: Warzone are being met with a server queue that remains locked at 20 minutes. We're actively investigating an issue with long wait times in the server queue for #WARZONE. Stay tuned for updates. — Activision Support (@ATVIAssist) April 21, 2021A number of players that make it through the server queue are still reporting server issues. For some players, the end of a match is met with a server error or game crash. It is possible to play through the event in its entirety though.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Are we entering a golden age of video game adaptations? We sure hope so. Production on the Borderlands movie is in full swing, according to a photo posted to Twitter by Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Patricia Tannis in the Eli Roth-directed film.YEP #borderlands @GearboxOfficial @Lionsgate pic.twitter.com/vrSkJYp21z — Jamie Lee Curtis (@jamieleecurtis) April 21, 2021The photo itself isn't going to offer up much for even the most eagle-eyed of Easter egg hunters; it shows Curtis's on-set seating on rocky ground on the film's Budapest set. The background is just your standard movie set stuff. While Curtis doesn't explicitly state as much, it seems safe to assume that filming has begun on the movie.Curtis has been posting about the Borderlands film as much as she can, including a post about on-set COVID precautions and her personal on-set soundtrack.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Disney and Sony have inked a new deal that will give streaming and TV rights for Sony Pictures' new releases--including movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home--to Disney's many streaming and linear services. It's complicated, so buckle in.The streaming deal includes Sony's new theatrical releases between 2022 and 2026 as well as titles from Sony's existing library, with releases heading to Disney+, Hulu, ABC, Disney Channels, Freeform, FX, and National Geographic as appropriate. In the press release, Sony specifically calls out its Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters films, which would include any Spider-Man films, as well as spin-off characters like Venom, Morbius, and Kraven--not to mention Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its upcoming sequel. Here's where things get complicated, though. Earlier this month, Sony made a very similar-sounding deal with Netflix, which specifically included Spider-Man. So what's up? These features would go to Netflix first during what the industry calls the "Pay 1" window. Historically, that would've been the period after theaters but before home video; that time period where you could catch the movie on HBO or order it on Pay-Per-View from your cable provider. It typically lasts about 18 months, according to The Hollywood Reporter.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Plenty of games ask you to tweak the brightness or take a moment to scale the resolution to fit your screen before you begin playing. But Before Your Eyes is the only game I’ve played that asks that, before you start, you take a moment to do pretty much the same thing for your eyes. It’s strange, sure, but it helps set the tone for the wonderfully weird and moving adventure that you will help unfold across its impactful 90-minute runtime using nothing but a mouse, your webcam and voluntary and involuntary blinks. That initial calibration is crucial for gameplay reasons, too. In this first-person narrative game, time moves forward each time your webcam sees you blink, so it’s imperative that the game can accurately detect when you’re actually blinking. To that end, Before Your Eyes presents you with a series of empty circles that fill in white as you blink. If it misses some, you can up the sensitivity and if it records blinks when your eyes are actually open, you can tell it to ease up. Like mouse sensitivity, but your peepers are the mouse. It’s a memorable introduction to a game, and reminded me of the heady days of Nintendo’s mid-aughts experimentation; a time when you might be asked to blow into a microphone, or twist your Game Boy Advance like a steering wheel, or swing your Wiimote like a golf club. From this distinct starting point, high concept mechanics meet an equally high concept narrative.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In May, Prime Video is offering up plenty of reasons to stay at home with fresh content arriving throughout the month. This includes new movies, series, and classic catalog titles.Starting with the original content, May 14 will see the debut of the new series, The Underground Railroad. The series is an adaptation of Colson Whitehead's novel of the same name, which came out in 2016, and was out of the gate already being developed for a television series. In 2017, it was revealed that Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, Dear White People) would direct all 11 episodes of the limited series, in which the Underground Railroad is "no mere metaphor: engineers and conductors operate a secret network of actual tracks and tunnels beneath the Southern soil… The Underground Railroad is both the gripping tale of one woman’s will to escape the horrors of bondage--and a powerful meditation on the history we all share." Jenkins's Dear White People, a satirical dramedy about escalating racial tensions at a fictional Ivy League college from the perspective of several Black students, also hits Prime Video on May 1.For classic content, May is bookended by some pretty great picks that may have gone under most radars after all these years. On May 9, the 2012 film Robot & Frank hits Prime Video--Frank Langella stars as an aging jewel thief whose son buys him a robot, which he at first resists, but ultimately warms up to when he realizes the mechanical pal can restart his career as a cat burglar. On May 2, the sci-fi action film Snowpiercer, based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige and directed by Parasite's Bong Joon-ho, comes to the streaming service. In 2020, the film has in turn spawned a spinoff rebooting the world's continuity, which is currently running on TNT.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
