A PS5-exclusive survival shooter called Abandoned has been revealed on the PlayStation Blog. Created by the Dutch developer Blue Box Game Studios, Abandoned is a cinematic survival first-person shooter with heavy horror elements, and a teaser trailer that accompanies its announcement shows it off.Abandoned stars an amnesiac hero named Jason Longfield, who must escape from a mysterious forest, finding food and ammo to fight or sneak his way out. As the blog post reveals, Abandoned may be a first-person shooter, but it will focus more on hiding and aiming than run-and-gun gameplay. For example, if Jason is out of breath from sprinting, his aiming will suffer, and the firing rate on all the weapons in the game is slow compared to action-heavy shooters.Abandoned will use the DualSense controller and the PS5's support for 3D audio to create what Blue Box hopes will be an immersive experience. Developer Flavourworks has announced that its previously PlayStation-exclusive FMV thriller Erica will launch on PC via Steam on May 25. An exact price for the game has not been revealed, but Erica is now available to wishlist on Steam.Erica is a full-motion video interactive fiction thriller that was published by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The game, akin to choose-your-own-adventure games like Until Dawn but with much less control of the characters, launched in August 2019. IO Interactive CEO and co-owner Hakan Abrak has confirmed that the Hitman series is taking a break as the studio focuses on its new James Bond game. Pokemon Go developer Niantic is rolling out a new feature that makes it easier to see which Pokemon may hatch from certain eggs. Tapping on one of the eggs in your inventory will pull up a list of all the Pokemon that may possibly hatch from it. Each monster is categorized by their rarity; Pokemon denoted with one egg icon will be most common, while those with five eggs will be rarest.Eggs have been among the most controversial elements of Pokemon Go. Niantic has previously been criticized for the very low hatch rates certain Pokemon have, especially since some monsters--such as Happiny, which is available as a Shiny as part of the game's spring event--can only be obtained by hatching them. Outriders is a game that isn't defined by big new ideas, but rather a variety of familiar elements mixed together in experimental ways. It's a role-playing game with loot-shooter elements; it's a serious, dark sci-fi outing that often comes with a pretty big dose of humor; it's a third-person cover shooter that demands you rush out and smash enemies with your ludicrously lethal magic powers. Whether this mixture works for you will determine how much you'll enjoy exploring the war-torn planet of Enoch and the last desperate vestige of humanity clinging to life there.Outriders blends well-known video game elements into something new and challenging, and while it takes itself seriously, it isn't self-serious. The game is about the human race destroying its home, violently colonizing new spaces, and tearing itself apart, but its heavy themes are often lightened up by a general blockbuster goofiness and characters defined by their gallows humor. You find a place within it as an accidental superbeing with space magic powers on the newly colonized planet Enoch, and you're mostly just annoyed that irritating people are wasting your time with their gopher chores. It's a fun, self-aware fit.Though Outriders looks like a live game of the loot-shooter persuasion, it's actually much more Mass Effect 3 than Destiny 2--like Mass Effect, RPG progression, an expansive story, and cover-shooting are more the engine of the game than chasing the next new gun. Overwatch's Archives 2021 event is officially underway, with the usual round of cosmetic rewards for playing during the event period. While Archives events often focus on retro looks for the roster of playable heroes, this time they're extremely retro.
