A classic action-RPG has gotten new life this year. Nier Replicant ver 1.22474487139, a remake of the original 2010 game, is out this week on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.A precursor to PlatinumGames' Nier Automata, Replicant helped establish the world of Nier that would later be explored in that breakout hit. But the original release was met with poor sales and middling reviews, making it ripe for a modernized facelift. How well does it revitalize the cult classic? The critical reception has been largely positive, citing the revamped combat system and a new appreciation for Yoko Taro's charming sensibilities. Though some critics have cited elements that didn't age well, like its quest and level design, the bright spots largely appear to outshine the antiquated shortcomings.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nintendo has rolled out a new update for Tetris 99. In addition to squashing a few unspecified bugs, this patch adds the ability to exchange tickets for six previous event-exclusive themes, giving you another chance to unlock them.Contrary to the wording of Nintendo's patch notes, you can now exchange tickets you've earned for some special in-game themes in the Customize menu--not the other way around. The themes include those based on Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and Paper Mario: The Origami King. These themes were all previously available as part of different Maximus Cups. If you didn't unlock them during their respective event, you can now grab the themes for 30 tickets apiece. The tickets themselves can be earned by completing daily challenges in the game. These can range from clearing a certain number of lines to getting a specific number of KOs during a match.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Weeks after Build-A-Bear released Animal Crossing plushies, another Nintendo character is available to purchase through the stuffed animal retailer. Everyone's favorite green dinosaur Yoshi is up for grabs for $29. The lovable Super Mario character is only available online, and we wouldn't be surprised if it sells out. Yoshi Build-A-Bear $29 This Green Yoshi plush is 16 inches tall. Like all Build-A-Bear plushies, we imagine Yoshi is quite cuddly. While Yoshi is always naked in the games, you could purchase him an outfit or two and dress him up. After all, part of the appeal of Build-A-Bear is the ability to accessorize the plushies. See at Build-A-Bear This actually isn't the first time Yoshi has been available at Build-A-Bear. The Super Mario lineup originally released in 2017 and included Mario, Luigi, and Peach-themed bears as well as Bowser and Green Yoshi. In 2018, Build-A-Bear added Blue Yoshi to the lineup. Every plushie in the Super Mario collection has been sold out for years. It's unclear if Green Yoshi is a one-off, or if Build-A-Bear will have more Super Mario plushies in the future.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

PlayStation Now has been one of the only ways to play many PlayStation classics on modern hardware, but the streaming service has been disappointingly limited to just 720p since its launch. That's changing soon, as Sony starts rolling out 1080p support across all PlayStation Now regions.Sony has announced that during the following weeks it will start supporting 1080p streaming for games on PlayStation Now that support it. This will be especially important for many PS4 titles on the service, including Horizon Zero Dawn, Borderlands 3, and Marvel's Avengers. This only applies to games that you stream--any PS4 titles that you can download will still support the same resolutions as digital or disc versions. The update will roll out across all regions, which includes the US, Europe, Japan, and Canada. Sony didn't take the opportunity to announce any additional regions for the service.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

People have complained and voiced their opinions that the swing animations could look and perform better.2K Sports is now responding to this feedback and has announce that "some adjustments" are on the way to club swinging to bolster authenticity and improve gameplay. Unfortunately, 2K's statement is extremely vague; it doesn't mention any specifics on what's changing. We have been listening to community feedback and have decided to implement some adjustments to club swinging to improve gameplay and authenticity. Thank you! — PGA TOUR 2K (@PGATOUR2K) April 22, 20212K Sports did not say when these promised swing changes will be released. Developer People Can Fly is slowly addressing Outriders' inventory wipe glitch. Not everyone will see all items in their inventory restored; the studio has placed affected users in separate groups to compartmentalize specific cases. But most players should expect at least 20 Legendaries to be restored sometime soon.In a lengthy Reddit post, senior community manager Toby Palm outlined the process People Can Fly is undergoing to restore the inventories of those affected players. It starts by splitting the player base into three groups--Groups A, B, and C--to determine the severity of the glitch's impact. Group A has it the worst, with characters labeled "unplayable" due to the glitch and error messages when connecting to Outriders' servers. This group makes up "most of the affected players," according to Palm. Group B has characters that were affected by the glitch but not deemed unplayable. Group C is every other player in the community. After defining how each group has been affected, Palm outlined which items in the inventory will be restored. For those in Group A, everything will be reinstated regardless of item rarity. Group B is a little more specific: Up to 20 Legendaries that were wiped will be replaced. There's nothing to be restored for Group C.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sub-Zero Joe Taslim has spoken about the physical nature of working on the Mortal Kombat movie, including his sweat-inducing costume and getting hit in the face. Taslim also shared that he's signed on for four additional sequels, but it remains to be seen if they'll be made.Speaking to Variety, Taslim said what makes a great fight scene is the possibility that you, as an actor, might actually get whacked in the face."Sometimes you get hit in the face or you hit someone in the face, but for me that's the fun of it. I know it's probably weird, but to create a beautiful work, sometimes it has to happen," he said. "The last thing you want to do it hurt your co-actor, but sometimes it happens. It's beautiful because it was intentional. Both of you want to make a great fight scene. … It's beautiful and it's dangerous."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Initial details are finally starting to emerge for HBO's planned series inspired by director Bong Joon-ho's 2019 runaway success, Parasite. Amidst all the fanfare of the thriller making history at the Oscars by winning four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and also being the first non-English language movie to win for Best Picture, it was also announced that writer Adam Mckay (The Big Short) would be collaborating with the director on a spinoff series--but little about how it'd work or what that actually meant."It's an original series," McKay said in a new podcast interview (via Collider). "It's in the same universe as the feature, but it's an original story that lives in that same world."Since 2019, McKay clarified, pretty much all information about the series before this new interview has been either premature speculation or rumor. Added McKay: "We're just having the best time… we've just staffed up with an incredible writers' room. I basically outlined the series with director Bong during the quarantine, with him overseeing." He also said he was "legitimately honored" to be working with the director, and "having a blast."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Destiny 2's upcoming transmogrification system will have elements you can earn for free or pay for with premium currency, but limitations on what you can get in-game already have some players upset. As a few have already pointed out on Twitter and Reddit, the limitations on currency you can earn in-game for free means that converting your stock of armor into "ornaments" that can be applied to other armor--Bungie's new transmogrification system--will take years. The details were included in the latest This Week at Bungie blog post, which filled in gaps on the transmogrification system that Bungie has been talking about for a while now. The system allows you to convert any piece of armor you have into a "universal ornament," which you can then equip to other armor to change its appearance. Essentially, if you like the look of one armor piece but not its stats, you can change it into a cosmetic ornament. Other MMOs have similar systems and allow players a greater degree of customization for their appearances, and Destiny 2 fans have been excited to see transmog come to the game. How Transmog Will WorkWhat's creating controversy is how the system will work. Bungie is instituting some new currencies for the transmogrification system: Synthstrands, Synthcords, and Synthweaves. You'll earn Synthstrands from playing the game and killing enemies, and when you have enough, you can purchase special bounties from Ada-1 in the Tower. Complete those bounties by playing different activities to earn Synthcords. You can then convert Synthcords into Synthweaves at a new kiosk, the Loom, in the Tower. Spending a Synthweave allows you to change an individual piece of armor into an ornament. If you want to convert an entire armor set, you'll need five total Synthweaves.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
