James Gunn, who recently finished The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special script, has also shared on social media another surprise gift--footage of a Disney Imagineering project that has made a lifelike robotic Groot, able to walk and charmingly strut along. On Twitter, the writer/director said simply the invention is "Groot IRL," but as a report from TechCrunch indicates, it's also a remarkable achievement in lifelike robotics.Code named Project Kiwi, the initiative's goal was to make a platform enabling bipedal ambulation in small robots, potentially capable of "acting." In other words, the work showcased here is not necessarily indicative of some big announcement or project in the works centering on Groot from Disney; this video is more about the potential something like this enables. Check out the video below to see Groot in action--and while it's tempting to just think it's magic or CGI, know that this is a real walking animatronic figures like the ones you've seen in amusement parks, roving freely and getting its programming only from a thin cable. In related "Disney made it real" news, check out this recently unveiled working light saber. In actual Guardians of the Galaxy news, Gunn recently revealed that filming will get underway "this year" for Volume 3. The writer/director shared that on Twitter earlier this month, which is pretty remarkable given how busy he is also working on Suicide Squad, developing a Peacemaker TV spinoff starring John Cena, and the aforementioned holiday special. Oh, and he's also working on a Disney Parks ride at EPCOT at Disney World, which it's entirely possible may turn out to involve Project Kiwi.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Doom Patrol was easily the weirdest and most interesting show to come out of the short happy life of the DC Universe streaming service, and the show ended up getting a third season when it made the interdimensional jump to HBO Max. Now, Doom Patrol is gearing up for production on Season 3 and has added a bunch of cast members for two groups that promise to be more than weird enough for the Doom Patrol.Doom Patrol Season 3 will introduce the Sisterhood of Dada and the Dead Boy Detective Agency. The Sisterhood of Dada is obsessed with all things absurd and bizarre, sort of an opposite of the show's recurring villain, the Bureau of Normalcy, which weeks to contain and weaponize all things abnormal. Even so, the Sisterhood is historically regarded as being evil, even if the group itself doesn't see things in such absolutes. The Dead Boy Detective Agency, meanwhile, is a three-person team consisting of a medium and two boy ghosts who read every book in their school's library to learn how to become detectives.Make sure to read every character description (unless you're spoiler averse), because each one is wilder than the last. The cast members that make up the Sisterhood of Dada are all season regulars, meaning we'll be seeing them throughout the show's third season.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hulu has a wealth of great scary horror movies available to stream right now, and we've picked out some of the best. The sheer number of streaming services available now means it's sometimes hard to know what to watch, but it's hard to deny that it's a great time to be a movie fan. Whatever genre you like, there's a huge number of movies available on both the big platforms and more niche services, and horror fans are perhaps the best served of all.Hulu's selection is heavier on modern horror than older classics, but that makes it a great place to catch up on some stand-out chillers from the past two decades. Monster movie fans can check out the hungry alligators of Crawl and subterranean creatures in The Descent, while those who prefer vampires and zombies have got favorites such as Let the Right One In and 28 Days Later to watch. There's movies from established filmmakers such as Danny Boyle, Lars Von Trier, and William Friedkin, and some from rising genre talents like Brandon Cronenberg and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. It's not all newer movies either--fans can get ready for the upcoming Chucky TV show with the original Child's Play, while the classic '70s sci-fi oddity Phase IV will terrify anyone who hates creepy-crawlies.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

April was a big month for Peacock, with the WWE joining the service and streaming Wrestlemania 37. This month, things are a bit more low-key, with a huge pile of movies coming to the service. Most of them hit right on May 1.The list includes classic animation like An American Tail and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West; action films like the Bourne Identity, the Bourne Supremacy, and the Bourne Ultimatum; and superhero movies of debatable quality, including Catwoman, Green Lantern, Kick-Ass 2, and Hellboy (2019). On the other hand, we'll also see stuff like Mystery Men, Crank, and Waterworld arriving on the service.NBC has two Peacock Originals coming, as well. Girls5eva is a musical comedy arriving on May 6. A '90s one-hit girl group gets a second chance when a rapper samples their song. Busy Phillips stars, and Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, who produced 30 Rock and the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt together, are executive producing the show. The other Peacock Original, Intergalactic, arrives May 13. NBCUniversal has provided no information about this property, and we literally can't find any reliable information about it anywhere. As with the other games in the Nier and Drakengard series, Nier Replicant features multiple endings. They're critical to understanding Nier Replicant, since these endings provide a more complete picture of its story and offer critical narrative context. While it's necessary to replay chunks of the game in order to see all the endings, you don't have to play through the entire game again. However, there are some specific requirements you'll need to be aware of.I am going to avoid as many spoilers as possible in this guide, despite this being about the endings--it's actually quite easy to explain how to get them without giving the pertinent story details away. After all, I want you all to feel and experience these emotional conclusions for yourself, too. (It's kinda why I'm doing this for y'all.)If you want to know how the game is overall, be sure to check out my full review of Nier Replicant, or check out our comparison video of the original Nier versus this new version. And especially for getting all the endings, be sure to have our guide for obtaining all the weapons in Nier Replicant on-hand (they are required for the additional endings).Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

There are a total of five endings in Nier Replicant and seeing all of them is important for getting the entire picture of the game's incredible story. However, each ending leads to changes in subsequent playthroughs you need to do certain things in those playthroughs in order to unlock them all. We have a guide on how to get all the endings in Nier Replicant, which provides the specific steps necessary, but they're inherently tied to collecting all the weapons in the game. That's where this guide comes in.A total of 33 weapons make up Nier Replicant's roster of blades, which are divided up in three categories: one-handed swords, two-handed swords, and spears. Some can be purchased, and some must be earned in quests or found out in the wild. It's not too complicated, though. Here, we tell you where and how to get them because Endings C, D, and E can only be accessed if you have all of them in your inventory before you finish your third playthrough. The details and explanations for how and where to get these weapons will be as spoiler-free as possible, so don't worry about that. For more on this upgraded version, be sure to ready my Nier Replicant review, and if you're already playing, refer to my spoiler-free endings guide to make sure you're covered.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While Earth Day maybe isn't typically seen as a major in-game event for Fortnite, longtime players and conservationists may find common ground in the game's newest character skin, Eco, who is both a celebration of nature and, perhaps more so, an homage to the original Fortnite Chapter 1 map.Eco is the latest, but not the first, fan-designed skin to make it into the game. Designed by Twitter user nollobandz, Eco features a computerized facemask and body armor made out of metal, stone, lava, and even a few signature items from the game's first map. His right shoulder features the old clock from the Tilted Towers clocktower, while his chest is comprised of a full Loot Lake replica.Tomato Town is immortalized as Eco's belt buckle, while the volcano, which was once restlessly situated in the northeast of the original Fortnite map, now makes up the bulk of Eco's left arm. See if you can spot any other references to old-school Fortnite.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

I'm a little surprised by just how cinematic Last Stop is. Developer Variable State wrestles the camera away from the player to frame every scene in different ways. Much like Silent Hill or The Medium, this is sometimes utilized to achieve a disturbing voyeuristic effect, but as Last Stop is a supernatural adventure game and not horror, the camera is used to convey more feelings beyond fear or dread. It's a totally different vibe from Variable State's debut game, 2016's Virginia. Virginia is portrayed in first-person, and gives the player control of the camera to observe and focus on the finer subtleties of its ambiguous plot. That, coupled with the lack of any spoken dialogue, allows Virginia to also be fairly open to interpretation--just Google "Virginia game ending" and you'll find plenty of different theories of what players think that game's story is about."It was really interesting for us, because to us, there's a version of Virginia on the page, and our development documentation was very specific," Variable State co-founder Jonathan Burroughs told me, following a showcase of Last Stop. "So it's not that I never want to share that with people--I love it, I'm down with these many interpretations."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

A new Deloitte Digital Media Trends survey is showing that Generation Z consumers in the United States (those currently between the ages of 14 and 24) are continuing a long-established trend of younger Americans losing interest in or placing less of a priority on watching TV, with 26% of those polled saying they prefer video games to anything else in their media consumption habits. A staggering 87% in that age bracket also say they play video games daily or weekly. When asked to rank their preferred entertainment activities, respondents placed video games in the No. 1 slot, while watching TV or movies at home ranks in at fifth. According to Deloitte, only 10% of Gen Z respondents said watching TV or movies was their favorite entertainment pastime--whereas for every other age group, it remains the top pick, including among millennials (18%), Gen Xers (29%), and boomers (39%).According to Variety, the prevailing wisdom and expectation on these trends was that millennials would "age out" of their interest in video games as they got older, and resemble their elders. Instead, that never quite happened--and there's little reason to expect that Gen Z willow follow suit.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Xbox's FPS Boost feature, which was unveiled back in February 2021 and only available for a handful of backward compatible Xbox One titles, has expanded to series like Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront, and Titanfall. In a post by Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, FPS Boost can now be toggled in games such as Battlefield V, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Titanfall 2. These are just the highlights from the growing list of Xbox One games that can take advantage of the feature, which uses the Xbox Series X|S's more advanced hardware to nearly doubles a game's frame rate to smoothen the experience.FPS Boost for some games, like Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront 2, is turned off by default. Hryb said the Xbox team "had to reduce a game's resolution to ensure it both runs smoothly and plays great." However, the feature can be easily toggled on in the Settings menu under Compatibility Options. Players can also check to see if the game is running in FPS Boost mode by simply tapping the Xbox button on the controller.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty fans eager to learn more about the next installment in the mainline series might want to get comfortable. Activision's Call of Duty boss, Robert Kostich, said in a new interview that the reveal of 2021's new game--which is believed to be another World War II entry from Sledgehammer Games--might not happen until later in the year than normal.Asked directly by GamesBeat if the announcement of this year's Call of Duty game would be shifted later in the year, Kostich confirmed, "We're probably shifting a bit more in that direction."Part of the reason why Activision is shifting its announcement schedule for the new Call of Duty game is because so much is happening in the free-to-play battle royale game Warzone. Season 3 kicked off today, April 22, and Activision seemingly wants to keep the focus on that game for the time being.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
