We've seen bits and pieces of Axiom Verge 2 over the years, but this latest trailer from Thomas Happ Games shows off one of the game's more impressive additions. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the metroidvania sequel will feature a second dimension that lies behind the default map, meaning that the game has a Link to the Past-style "dark world"/"light world" dynamic. In the post, Happ says that players will have to find entrances to this "breach" dimension in the overworld in order to uncover secrets in both dimensions. The Metroidvania platformer The Messenger featured a similar idea, where one realm was styled on 8-bit games and the other realm was 16-bit. However, given that Axiom Verge was a game about exploration, it's fair to say that this breach is going to be a big part of the game. The trailer revealed today shows off many elements you would expect to see in an Axiom Verge sequel, including a glitchy aesthetic and the ability to manipulate enemies to better achieve your goals. There's still no word on a release date for Axiom Verge 2, but the blog post does say that it'll be "out before you know it," whatever that means. The game was originally intended to come out in 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic and the increased complexity of the game compared to its predecessor. Axiom Verge 2 will release for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch when it does come out. We recently got word that fellow indie darling Oxenfree will be coming to PS4 and PS5 later this year; its sequel, Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, is also coming soon.Info from Gamespot.com

The Ryan Reynolds video game movie Free Guy releases later this month, and now the writer, director, and other people attached to the movie has shared some new insight on their inspirations and more about what you can expect.Production designer Ethan Tobman told The Hollywood Reporter that viewers can look forward to references to Red Dead Redemption and Shadow of the Colossus. A poster for Free Guy showed a vehicle that looked like Halo's Mantis, while streamer Ninja has a cameo in the film. So it seems that, fittingly, the movie will have plenty of video game Easter eggs, not unlike Ready Player One.The movie takes part both inside a video game and in the real world, and Tobman said each will have "really distinctly different visual styles, different camera lenses, different framing devices, different color palettes, different focal length symmetry."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Raven Software pushed a small update for Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War that slightly adjusted damage and range values for two of the game's weapons. The Krig 6 assault rifle and the new CX-9 SMG will be changed for Cold War and Modern Warfare styles respectively. The Krig 6 had its lower torso multiplier decreased from 1.1 to 1, and its maximum damage range was decreased from 1500 to 1400. The CX-9 increased its mid-damage range from 20 to 21 and increased its headshot multiplier from 1.4 to 1.45. This would appear to be a nerf for the Krig 6 and a buff for the CX-9, though it's up to players to find out what that means for them in actual play.🛠️ We have pushed an update to #Warzone with a couple Weapon tweaks 🙂Krig 6 (BOCW)Lower Torso Multiplier decreased from 1.1 to 1Maximum Damage Range decreased from 1500 to 1400CX-9 (MW)Increased mid damage range from 20 to 21Increased Headshot Multiplier from 1.4 to 1.45 — Raven Software (@RavenSoftware) August 5, 2021Warzone's Season 5 starts on August 12, and the game's developers are doing a lot to promote it. Activision is continuing the fight against cheaters in its massively popular battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone. According to a report from Charlie Intel, the company has taken action, not by improving the game's anti-cheat software, but by going after and shutting down a cheat distributor. The distributor, a site called CrazyAim, sold a variety of cheats to users, including aimbots. While the site would provide cheats for multiple Call of Duty titles, its main focus was reportedly on Warzone. Visiting the seller's site now returns an error.According to Charlie Intel's report, CrazyAim's site isn't the only part of the cheat distributor that was taken down. The company's Discord server was apparently also targeted and has since been taken offline. This all comes just ahead of the launch of Call of Duty Season 5.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hideki Kamiya from Platinum Games shared some history behind the new Sol Cresta game and also reiterated that it wasn't an April Fools joke in a new trailer. Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta were released in the 1980s by a company called Nihon Bussan, or Nichibutsu. The 1980s were a time when single-player shoot-'em-up games were all the rage, and the more aggressively you played, the more powerful your ship got. Kamiya himself experienced that growing up.Kamiya originally came up with the Cresta-inspired "dock-and-split" system while planning for new games, but studio head Atsushi Inaba eventually suggested that a new Cresta entry should be created instead. The dock-and-split system consists of three ships that make up the Yamato fighter jet. Players can split and re-order the three individual parts to change Yamato's weaponry to fit the current situation. The rights to the series were owned by Hamster Corporation, which Platinum Games had no connection to. However, Inaba and Kamiya got in touch with Satoshi Hamada, the company's president. Kamiya was nervous as he showed Hamada the drafts for the game. To his excitement, Hamada approved the project on the spot. He was also a fan of classic games.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

There's no shortage of dangerous individuals in the Marvel Comics cosmos, as players will find out when they take control of the Guardians of the Galaxy later this year. One of those lethal characters briefly introduced in the game's debut trailer was Lady Hellbender, a relatively new character who debuted in 2015's Totally Awesome Hulk comic book series.More of a dedicated conservationist towards rare and endangered creatures, that character trait has been preserved for Hellbender's appearance in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, which you can see more of in the extended cinematic below...as well as Drax the Destroyer's people skills."For Lady Hellbender's introduction, it was important to us to play against expectations," cinematics and animation director Darryl Purdy explained on the GOTG website. "What's great is we start to play with those assumptions early in the scene. Star-Lord assumes their monster is superior to the scared meek little creature ahead of them. However, that meek little monster turns out to be a Tara-tara, a powerful shapeshifter."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When it comes to custom controllers, Pope Art is often the cause of depleted bank accounts around here, and this Halo Infinite-inspired Xbox wireless controller is no different. Its purple and gray design is clearly inspired by the strange-looking Covenant weapon that you never really seem to pick up. Though it was introduced as the Xbox Series X controller, it works on the Xbox One too. See at Trezn Even if you aren't a huge Halo fan, there's definitely a lot to like about this design, from the bright blue buttons to the asymmetric swipe down the middle. The pink needles on the left grip are the most direct reference to the needler inspiration, but it's also reminiscent of the sharp talons of the original Xbox logo, which is a nice touch.Gallery As with many custom controllers, this one isn't cheap, coming in at $150. It does include free shipping and a 90 day warranty against defects. The current drop of these controllers will be delivered in mid-September, and there are only limited numbers available, so if you're interested, definitely get a move on. In other Halo news, the recent Halo Infinite beta has now concluded, and one of our staff members liked it a lot, though it's hard to judge based solely on killing bots.Info from Gamespot.com

The beginning of the end is nearly here for AMC's flagship series The Walking Dead--a new teaser for the show's final season has just dropped on YouTube. The 30-second clip, titled "Live for Them," ratchets the remaining survivors' stakes and needs to, well, survive, up to a fever pitch. If you've been keeping up with the show, and were also a fan of the comics, the show is now leading its motley crew of characters towards the Commonwealth. It's a town that seems perfect, and it's the most advanced and seemingly civil place the survivors have come across. During Comic-Con 2021, a longer trailer aired during The Walking Dead panel--which you should check out if you missed it for whatever reason.Even though the scene is set for the long-running show to end in Season 11, there's still a whole lot going on in the franchise. The final season will be rolled out as a "trilogy," with the second and third parts landing sometime in 2022. World of Warcraft players on the game's official subreddit are currently deep in a debate surrounding a tricky question that has reared its head multiple times as of late in the game's community: Is WoW pay-to-win, i.e. does spending money on the game via microtransactions result in faster or better character progression? The conversation was started by reddit user Citrinitas696, who began the topic with a provocative question: "How is WoW not p2w? Disprove this image." As of writing, the reddit thread has more than 1,300 comments. How is WoW not p2w? Disprove this image from wowAt the center of the debate is whether or not the game's WoW Token is, in essence, a method of pay-to-win. First introduced in 2015 during the game's Warlords of Draenor expansion, the WoW Token serves multiple purposes. For players who need in-game gold, they can purchase the WoW Token from Blizzard for $20. That token, which is good for 30 days of game time that normally must be bought with real-world money, can then be sold in-game via WoW's auction house for gold. The cycle looks like this:Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
