Ahead of the release, developer Bloober Team has detailed how the PS5's DualSense controller is allowing it to add more immersion to The Medium's tense atmosphere.Playing as Marianne, you gain access to her supernatural abilities fairly early in the game. Some, like the Spirit Blast, can be used for puzzle solving and offensive attacks, both of which might feel better with the DualSense's adaptive triggers. The triggers will offer some resistance as the ability charges up, slowing easing as it approaches time for you to fire it off with a full press of the trigger.The controller's accurate haptic feedback is also used for other abilities. As part of its buildup to the Exodus short film, Battlefield 2042 developer Ripple Effect has detailed one of its upcoming maps in its latest entry in the No-Pats multi-part series. The story brings readers to South Korea, where players will eventually be able to explore a map set in the city of Songdo titled Kaleidoscope.In the story, a Korean woman steals 10 petabytes of data from one of the city's largest companies, Daesong Electronics, which hosts a majority of the internet after 2040. The woman, a No-Pat, then delivers the data to the main character of the story.While this tale of corporate espionage is interesting on its own, today's chapter also gave us a closer look at Kaleidoscope, one of Battlefield 2042's new maps. A piece of concept art shows a large and sprawling modern city, filled with gleaming skyscrapers intersected by large parks and waterways. A rare copy of Super Mario Bros. has sold at auction for $2 million, breaking the previous $1.56 million record set by the sale of a mint condition copy of Super Mario 64. Despite originally launching in 2013, creation and survival game Rust is still going strong--and this month it is receiving a big new update that adds a bunch of features for exploring beneath the waves. In addition to big new underwater bases, the update for August also adds submarines, torpedos, and sharks.Headlining the update are procedurally generated underwater bases, which you can get to via submarine. These are pretty large, complex structures that act as sub-sea dungeons. They'll contain a variety of puzzles and challenges as well as NPCs to fight, but they will also feature spaces for just hanging out with friends. In the patch notes, the developer explains that the bases can contain mess halls which let you play poker, listen to music, and cook.As mentioned previously, to reach these bases you'll need to acquire a submarine. Google has lifted some of the redactions in the antitrust lawsuit Epic Games filed in July, and it seems the tech company considered scooping up the Fortnite maker as Google saw Epic Games as a threat to its business model.In newly unsealed court documents reported by The Verge, Epic Games alleges Google sought to use its power to buy "some or all" of the Fortnite and Unreal Engine developer. After having its release date pushed back three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Free Guy will finally be hitting theaters on August 13. Nintendo is notoriously slow to change, especially when it comes to connected experiences like multiplayer and online services. And while the company still certainly has a long way to go, we're starting to see small signs of a more modern Nintendo in how it's handling game updates for some of its first-party franchise titles like Mario Golf: Super Rush and New Pokemon Snap.Both games received substantial updates this week. New Pokemon Snap's update, announced last week, adds three new areas and tons of new Pokemon and behaviors to document with your trusty camera. Mario Golf: Super Rush's update was even more sudden, dropping as soon as it was announced and adding a new golfer, Toadette, a new golf course, and more. Nintendo also promised more updates to come for Super Rush.What was most striking was how quickly these updates followed post-release. Pokemon Snap just came out in April, and Mario Golf in June. There was a time that Nintendo offering a free content update within four months would have been unheard of, much less a single month after release.
