Bungie has announced that, starting October 16, the Destiny 2 Expansion Pass will be included in the Forsaken expansion for free. The developer hopes this convinces more players to take the plunge and try Forsaken, as you need to complete Destiny 2's first two expansions--Curse of Osiris and Warmind--first.Currently, the only way to get everything you need to play Destiny 2's newest expansion is by buying the Forsaken: Legendary Collection, which includes Destiny 2, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken for $60. With the new deal, you'll get all of that for $40.Acknowledging that players who have already bought Forsaken have already paid for Curse of Osiris and Warmind as well, Bungie outlined a series of rewards for anyone who's already bought Forsaken prior to October 16. If you've already purchased Forsaken--or buy it before October 16--you'll be awarded a unique Emblem and Shader, as well as the Knife Trick and Coin Flip emotes, and several consumables. This bundle of special rewards will go out to all "Forsaken Veterans" in December. The Emblem and Shader will remain exclusive to players who buy Forsaken prior to October 16, but the two emotes will be made available on Eververse at "sometime in the future." The consumables can be found in-game right now.In our Forsaken review, GameSpot senior reviews editor Kallie Plagge gave the expansion an 8/10, writing, "There is a lot to do in Forsaken, so much so that it can be difficult to see it all. That also means that, for the average player, this expansion has a much longer tail than previous iterations of Destiny 2. The variety and flexibility of activities established in the base game still work to make grinding a good time, and Gambit adds a consistently entertaining mode to the roster. The endgame, while difficult to reach, is also where the most satisfaction can be found."Destiny 2 is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.Info from Gamespot.com

Rare has announced a new update for Sea of Thieves that adds a new type of quest to the action-adventure pirate simulation. Update 1.3.1 also patches some of the game's bugs and makes quality-of-life improvements. The new type of quest is called Cargo Runs and completing them allows you to rank up in the Merchant Alliance. The mission parameters are relatively simple. After selecting a Cargo Run contract, you need to find the cargo in question, obtain it by whatever means you deem necessary, and take it to its destination. You're rated on speed and how well you handled the goods, so if you want the best possible reward, you'll need to travel as fast as you can while also being careful to not damage the cargo.Update 1.3.1 makes several other changes to preexisting features and mechanics. The new Cargo Runs are now always included in Athena's Fortune voyages. From now on, rowboats will take more damage from Gunpowder Barrels, and you'll be able to push your rowboat if it happens to get stuck under an environmental obstacle. It's also much more worth your time to pursue Skeleton Ships, as the reward for defeating Skeleton Captain-led ships has doubled. For the full Update 1.3.1 patch notes, including known issues that Rare is working, check out Sea of Thieves' main website. The Farm 51 has announced that the first-person shooter World War 3 will release in early access on October 19. The game costs $28 USD to download and play. We've reached out to ask about European and Australian prices.World War 3 takes tactical, modern day combat and puts it on a global battlefield. Where Halo is sci-fi, Battlefield has destructive environments, and Call of Duty fantasizes high-speed combat, World War 3 is aiming for a more authentic experience. Your character can't perform superhuman feats and the ballistic system for each gun behaves as it would in the real world. You'll have to be careful and rely on your teammates if you hope to win matches.Multiplayer matches host 64 players at a time, and the tide of the war will have your team constantly switching between attacking enemy positions, or defending your own. So far, World War 3 has two modes, Warzone and Recon. In Warzone, you travel to real-world locations--like Berlin and Warsaw--to engage in massive battles where your team will need to respond to multiple threats while planning your own attacks. Recon mode is much smaller, tasking squads with securing "high-value targets in hostile territory" where individual decisions have a more immediate impact.World War 3 launches in early access on PC. The Farm 51 is also considering bringing the game to consoles at a certain point, but nothing has been decided yet.Info from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches with 14 multiplayer maps. There's already a 15th map scheduled for November as a post-launch expansion, but it will be free for all players.Right now, players have access to Arsenal, Contraband, Firing Range, Frequency, Gridlock, Hacienda, Icebreaker, Jungle, Militia, Morocco, Payload, Seaside, Slums, and Summit. Four of the maps--Firing Range, Jungle, Slums, and Summit--are all from previous Black Ops games, but with a visual upgrade. In November, the Call of Duty classic Nuketown, also remastered with upgraded visuals, will become available. Treyarch hasn't announced how map updates after Nuketown will work, but they'll probably be a part of paid DLC expansions.According to Forbes, the 14 original maps are described as follows:Arsenal: Hostile covert ops on a manufacturing facility of a powerful North American military defense contractor means someone may have stolen the keys to the castle.Contraband: Surveillance of an international arms smuggling operation has uncovered this shipping hub on a remote, uncharted island off the coast of Colombia.Firing Range: US Forces gear up for red team/blue team combat exercises in this Guantanamo Bay military base.Frequency: A covert listening station deep in the mountainous region of Hunan Province is being used to track strategic targets across the globe.Gridlock: A Japanese metropolis whose city center has been jammed up by a bank heist gone wrong.Hacienda: A lavish vineyard estate situated on a quiet lake in the Spanish countryside, home to a high-ranking crime syndicate boss.Icebreaker: A long lost Nuclear submarine in the Arctic houses a uranium supply which a Russian unit has come to salvage.Jungle: The heat is on as Cold War forces collide in the sweltering depths of the Vietnam jungle.Militia: Anti-government extremists backed covertly by a Russian cell are stockpiling weaponry in a remote region of Alaskan wilderness near the Bearing Strait.Morocco: Rebels in a small Moroccan village are using government military supply planes as target practice as they fly over the surrounding Sahara Desert.Payload: A defensive ICBM launch facility deep in an Icelandic mountain range has been infiltrated by hostile forces attempting to steal a nuclear warhead.Seaside: An anti-government protest in this quaint coastal Spanish town grew out of control and forced a military shutdown.Slums: Street battles rage in head to head heat through the center of a run down Panama neighborhood.Summit: Cold War surveillance is at its peak above the clouds in the mountaintop listening post in the Ural Mountains. These maps do not include the ones exclusive to Black Ops 4's Zombies and Blackout mode. In Zombies, IX and Voyage of Despair are the two maps for the new Chaos storyline, while Blood of the Dead is the map for the Aether storyline--which continues the overarching narrative from the previous three Black Ops games. Blackout launches with only one map, but it's the biggest one the Call of Duty franchise has ever seen.Be sure to check out round-up of everything we know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The game launches on October 12 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. There are numerous editions available for pre-order.Info from Gamespot.com

505 Games has announced that Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice will be getting a physical retail edition. Coming to both Xbox One and PS4, the physical edition will be available on December 4.Originally releasing in 2017 as a PS4 console exclusive, Hellblade eventually launched on Xbox One in 2018. The game was then ported to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and if you already own the game on PC then you'll unlock the VR version of the game for free.Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was one of our top 10 games of 2017. The game puts you in the shoes of Senua, a Pict warrior who's traveling through a long-abandoned Nordic land. Her journey forces her to confront her guilt-ridden past that takes on the form of literal enemies, spectral remnants, and vivid hallucinations. Hellblade forces you to undergo numerous trials--ranging from harrowing fights to perspective-bending puzzles--and captures the surreal experience of someone suffering from poor mental health. In our Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice review, GameSpot editor Alessandro Fillari gave the game an 8/10, writing, "Hellblade's most notable achievement is the handling of an incredibly sensitive subject matter within an engaging and well-crafted action/adventure game. At its heart, the story is about Senua's struggle to come to terms with her illness. In the process, she learns to find the strength within herself to endure, and to make peace with her past. And in a profound and physical way, we go through those same struggles with her, and come away with a better understanding of a piece of something that many people in the world struggle with."Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC; and can be played in VR on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.Info from Gamespot.com

Crunchyroll has announced that DanMachi: Memoria Freese, a free mobile RPG that uses characters from the anime Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon, will have a limited-time Attack on Titan event. The event is exclusive to North America. The event incorporates lines spoken from the original actors from the Attack on Titan anime. You'll be able to have characters from both Titan and Dungeon team up together as they defend Orario from a Titan's attack. The event launches on October 30 at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET.In DanMachi, you build your team from an assortment of Dungeon's characters and battle your way through an ever-changing dungeon that's different depending on the time of day you play. The game's original stories are created by Dungeon's writer Fujino ÅŒmori, and the anime's original cast voice their characters in the game. As a Gacha game, players spend currency--virtual or real--to unlock new characters to fight with and items to use.Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon tells the story of Bell Cranel, a young solo adventurer who one day discovers the goddess Hestia in a dungeon. He pledges to serve as a part of her Familia and works hard every day to both serve his goddess and become worthy enough of catching the eye of Ais Wallenstein, a famous adventurer he's in love with. The original Japanese version of the anime can be watched on Crunchyroll, and both the Japanese and English versions are available on HiDive.Attack on Titan is in the midst of its third season. In the anime, giant and seemingly mindless Titans roam the Earth for people to eat. The only defense against these Titans are giant walls that keep the monsters out, and the Vertical Maneuvering Equipment that allows soldiers to zip between buildings and trees at dizzying speeds to reach the Titan's only weak point, the neck. Attack on Titan is streaming in Japanese on Crunchyroll and in both Japanese and English on Funimation and Netflix.DanMachi: Memoria Freese is available for both iOS and Android. The fall 2018 anime season is underway, and there's a bunch of new series airing on Netflix, Amazon, Crunchyroll, Funimation, and HIDIVE. Here are our seven top recommendations you should add to your queue.Of all the anime this season, Bloom Into You is the must watch. This love story between two high school girls also addresses the pressures of living with low self-worth and the struggles of understanding asexual love. Despite the heaviness of the story's drama, there are both brief snippets of hilarity and quiet moments of internal resilience that draw you into the changing dynamic between the second-year student council president--who can't escape her dead sister's shadow--and the young first-year--who dreams of falling in love but doesn't feel the emotions that manga and music say she should.Animated by Troyca, Inc--the studio responsible for the spectacular 2017 anime Re:Creators--and featuring music by Michiru Oshima--who's composed music for anime like Fullmetal Alchemist and video games like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess--Bloom Into You might be the most gorgeous anime this season, both to watch and listen to. The series is exclusively airing on HIDIVE in both Japanese and English.Zombie Land Saga is about an ordinary high school girl who leaves her house to start her first day of school--only to be struck and killed by a passing truck. She wakes up 10 years later, revived as a zombie by an eccentric young man who wants to manage an idol group entirely composed of the living dead. The story mixes together idol tropes and common zombie story stereotypes to create something truly bizarre, but it's all surprisingly fun to watch. The series airs in English on Funimation and in Japanese on Crunchyroll.A bit more somber, Iroduku: The World in Colors is a series about a teenage witch, named Hitomi, who's colorblind and lives in the year 2078. That is, until her grandmother transports Hitomi 60 years into the past to 2018. Now lost in a world she doesn't completely recognize and lacking the know-how to complete certain tasks--like needing paper money to pay for things--Hitomi struggles to find the teenager who will one day grow up to be her grandmother so she can go home. The anime is already setting itself up to explore similar themes to what we saw in 2016's Orange. Which isn't surprising, as Yuuko Kakihara--who worked on the script for five of Orange's episodes--is the writer for The World in Colors. This season also features a few new isekai--stories where a normal person from our world is transported to another--but the one you want to watch is That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime. It's pretty much exactly about what the name implies. A dude from our world dies and he's reborn as a cute little blob of sentient goo in a fantasy world of dragons and goblins. The series is a little weird at first, but stick with it--the manga that the anime is based on goes to some charming places. The show is airing in the original Japanese on Crunchyroll and in English on Funimation.Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood is a cute story about a doll-loving middle-schooler moving in with a centuries-old otaku vampire who looks to be no older than a high school first-year. The first episode tackles the "but where are the parents" problem that most anime have with a humorous twist, and flips the regular person meeting a vampire dynamic by having the normal girl be the strange one with habits that are difficult to comprehend. The first episode of Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood possesses tremendous comedic timing and plays off your expectations of slice-of-life tropes in pretty hilarious ways. You can watch the anime on Crunchyroll.Golden Kamuy returns on Crunchyroll and Funimation with a second season, continuing the adventures of our favorite band of ridiculous treasure seekers who are racing to find certain escaped convicts who have strange tattoos all over their bodies. When combined, the tattoos complete map that leads to a massive pile of gold, which pretty much everyone in the anime wants for themselves. Golden Kamuy's first season aired this past spring, and ended fairly abruptly in the middle of the anime's story, so it's good to see the show continue again so quickly.Castlevania is also getting its second season this fall. Once again, the anime is exclusive to Netflix, but that also means you get the whole season up front. Capturing the aesthetic of the video game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Castlevania the anime portrays the bloody tale of Trevor Belmont's quest to defeat Dracula. Castlevania delves into murder, gore, and heroes and villains that are both right in their own way and also deeply flawed. Think Berserk or Devilman Crybaby. Castlevania can be unsettling at times, but the show captures the essence of the Castlevania video game because of itThe full list of anime series and movies that have been confirmed to premier this fall on Amazon, Crunchyroll, Funimation, HIDIVE, and Netflix are listed below. We'll update the list if additional titles are announced.Fall 2018 Anime Release Date Schedule (U.S.)AmazonOctober 5 Boarding School JulietIroduku: The World in ColorsOctober 11 Le Cirque de KarakuriCrunchyrollOctober 1 That Time I Go Reincarnated as a SlimeOctober 3 RErideD: Derrida, who leaps through timeOctober 4 Zombie Land SagaOctober 5 Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden WindOctober 6 Goblin SlayerRadiantSSSS GridmanSword Art Online: AlicizationOctober 7 Ulysses: Jeanne d'Arc and the Alchemist KnightOctober 8 Golden Kamuy (Season 2)October 12 Senran Kagura Shinovi MasterFunimationOctober 1 Space Battleship Tiramisu Zwei (Season 2)That Time I Go Reincarnated as a SlimeOctober 6 Ace Attorney (Season 2)SSSS GridmanOctober 8 Golden Kamuy (Season 2)October 9 Tokyo Ghoul:re (Season 2)HIDIVEOctober 1 The Girl in TwilightOctober 5 Bloom Into YouOctober 7 Release The SpyceNetflixOctober 3 Violet Evergarden: SpecialOctober 15 The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The CommandmentsOctober 26 Castlevania (Season 2)October 30 Fate/EXTRA Last Encore: Illustrias Geocentrism TheoryInfo from Gamespot.com

Destiny 2's yearly Halloween-themed event, the Festival of the Lost, kicks off this week, bringing new events and new spook-themed loot for players to find. Perhaps most importantly, though, it brings with it the ability to shoot various aliens and other players while wearing goofy masks of Destiny characters. This year's Festival looks like it'll be more involved than previous versions, though. In addition to masks to wear and a few specialized pieces of cosmetic gear players can find, it's getting a specialized spooky gameplay activity: the Haunted Forest. It's a version of the (supernaturally dull) Infinite Forest from the Curse of Osiris expansion, where players would encounter randomized groups of enemies spread out across arenas whose layouts were also somewhat randomized.During the Festival, the Forest will be spookier, and possibly deadlier, than its previous iteration. Players dive into the Forest for 15 minutes at a time to see how far they can get, but the deeper they go, the tougher the battles become. The trailer also suggests it'll be dark and full of terrors, and the lighting and shadows on display definitely help it look like it'll fulfill the "Haunted" moniker. In addition to new Triumphs for players to pursue in order to earn a bunch of Festival-themed cosmetic items, the event will also see a new story-based quest line. This one has you trying to solve the murder of Master Ives, the Cryptarch Destiny players might remember from the outpost in the Reef. Bungie hasn't provided much in the way of details about what happened to Master Ives, but we do know the quest line will drop players an extra piece of Powerful loot at the end, which should help in leveling up and trying to take on Forsaken's Last Wish raid.As Bungie describes it on its website, this Festival is also potentially going to be a more somber celebration. The Festival of the Lost is always about honoring the fallen in Destiny's distant, post-apocalyptic, magical sci-fi future, but this year it follows Forsaken, which saw the death of main Destiny character Cayde-6. That event is informing the Festival, at least somewhat, so expect to be hearing a lot about how much the game's characters miss Cayde's jokey geniality. The Festival of the Lost kicks off starting with the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST on October 16, and last until the same time on November 6. It's also not the only thing coming Tuesday; Bungie is also launching the first of two post-Forsaken updates this week. The update includes a variety of tweaks, like an increase in Scout Rifle damage, some bug fixes, and a decreased in how often the grenade launcher Edge Transit appears in loot drops.Tuesday will also mark the start of another Iron Banner competitive multiplayer event, which also has been tweaked in the wake of Forsaken. Iron Banner lasts until October 23.Info from Gamespot.com

The follow-up to Rockstar Games' classic western game Red Dead Redemption is fast approaching. Set 12 years before the events of the original game, Red Dead Redemption 2 will explore an expansive region of the American wilderness, with Dutch Van der Linde's gang on the run from lawmen during the last years of the wild west. Experiencing Rockstar's take on the open-world western from a new perspective, you'll uncover the history of the Van Der Linde gang, which has a young John Marston in its thralls. We got the opportunity to play Red Dead Redemption 2, and suffice to say, it's shaping up to be one of the most detailed open world games we've ever played. You can find out more in our preview below where you can read about our experiences completing story missions and exploring the game's world. There's also plenty of details below on the game's narrative and all of its trailers. With its release date of October 26 approaching, we've learned a lot more about the base game, as well as the first details about its Red Dead Online mode coming in November.Table of Contents [hide]Where Is RDR2 Set, And Is It A Prequel? The First RevealWho Are You Playing As?The Second TrailerWho's In Dutch's Gang? The Third TrailerFirst Gameplay TrailerSecond Gameplay TrailerWhat's New In Red Dead Redemption 2?How It Plays: Our In-Depth PreviewHow Will Online Multiplayer Work? How Can I Play RDR2? When Is Its Release Date?PS4 Pro BundleWhere Is RDR2 Set, And Is It A Prequel?Set 12 years before the main events of the original game, the prequel focuses on the outlaw life of the Van der Linde gang, led by Red Dead Redemption's main antagonists. After a robbery in Blackwater (one of the original game's major towns) goes bad--the gang finds themselves on the run. Dutch, his right-hand man Arthur Morgan, and several members of the gang have to contend with a life on-the-run while confrontations with rival gangs and the law make their situation grow more desperate.Rockstar also released a description of the plot:America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed. After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.The First RevealDebuting on October 20, 2016, the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 was a bit of a mood piece that showcased many locales in the game, while also portraying the somber tone of the main narrative. In this trailer, we saw several towns and locales, many of which are teeming with life and activity--such as ranchers rustling up some cattle, huntsmen bringing back their haul, and a group of citizens hanging out in the general store.Who Are You Playing As?Though the central character of Red Dead Redemption, John Marston, plays some role in the story--the main protagonist of the prequel is Arthur Morgan. As Dutch's right-hand man and enforcer for the gang, he'll handle much of the daily duties of keeping the gang in-check--which includes a young and less-experienced John Marston. When it comes to keeping the gang and its community afloat, Morgan is quite handy with picking up various jobs to ensure everyone is well fed and in good spirits. But as the story progresses, he'll begin to question his own resolve for Dutch's way of life, and whether he still has a place in the gang. The Second TrailerOn September 28, 2017, the second trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted. In the new footage, we got to see more of Arthur Morgan and how ruthless he can be while on the job. During some of the story cutscenes, Morgan will use coercion and physical threats to collect money and information, all for the "benefit" of the community. For more info on this particular trailer, check out our detailed breakdown.Who's In Dutch's Gang?In Red Dead Redemption 2, we'll see Dutch's gang and its key players in their prime. While the original game had John hunt down and kill the remaining members of the gang, we'll see many of the familiar faces in relatively happier times. From the most recent trailer, we see Dutch Van der Linde, Arthur Morgan, Bill Williamson, Javier Esquela, Sadie Adler, Charles Smith, Micah Bell, Hosea Matthews, and of course John Marston in the roster. We'll also interact with other characters who would have a key role in the gang and in the lives of both Arthur Morgan and John Marston. The Third TrailerIn the new footage released on May 2, we saw a deeper look into the game's narrative and how the gang functions. Along with the familiar activities like hunting, heists, and side-quests with the region's citizens, rob trains and banks, and take in shows at theaters. For the most part, the trailer focuses on the many connections you'll have with the members of the gang, as well as how your choices will affect them. For more info on the third trailer, check out our detailed breakdown.First Gameplay TrailerOn August 9, Rockstar unveiled Red Dead Redemption 2's first gameplay trailer. The new footage revealed that the core mechanics from the original game were still intact, but almost everything had received a facelift. Wildlife is smarter and lives within its own ecosystem. Arthur Morgan can interact with the people around him in ways John Marston never could.Second Gameplay TrailerOn October 2, Rockstar finally showcased the second round of gameplay footage it promised. It dives more deeply into the game's side-activities, as well as the nature of the world and its varying systems. In addition, there's an in-depth look at how the sequel's dead eye system works. What's New In Red Dead Redemption 2?While the sequel is largely in the same vein as its predecessor, focusing on exploration, hunting, shoot-outs, heists, and other side-activities where you'll interact with a number of unique characters--Red Dead Redemption 2 features a far more expansive world to dive into. There are a ton of new mechanics in Red Dead Redemption 2. We got to experience two story missions, as well as a chance to goof around freely in the open world. There's a lot to unpack about how the upcoming sequel looks and feels, so be sure to read our in-depth preview detailing our impressions about how it plays. How Will Online Multiplayer Work?Currently, Rockstar hasn't shared any info on how the online play will function. The original Red Dead Redemption featured online free-for-all and team deathmatch style gameplay in the open world, along with several co-op themed missions. While it's safe to assume that these sorts of missions will return, another long-lingering rumor is the appearance of a battle royale mode. Rockstar has recently confirmed that a public beta for the online mode is scheduled for a month after the game's launch. How Can I Play RDR2? When Is Its Release Date?Red Dead Redemption 2 is set for release on October 26 for PS4 and Xbox One. There are also plans for a collector's edition of the game called the Special Edition. Priced at $80, the package includes a copy of the game along with special missions, weapons and a physical map of the game world for players to own. There are also two additional packs for Red Dead Redemption 2 for premium prices, The Ultimate Edition and The Collector's Box--both priced at $100. While The Ultimate Edition has all items from the special edition--including additional DLC items to acquire--The Collector's Box does not include any digital items. Instead, it offers special playing cards, artwork, a bandit's bandana, a physical map of the game world, and a collector's coin in the set. It's worth noting that the PS4 version will have special content that's exclusive to that version for 30 days. The upcoming Arrow-verse crossover keeps getting more interesting. First, it was announced that Batwoman (Ruby Rose) would be introduced in the three-show event, with the first look at her costume offering a potentially exciting addition to The CW's superhero universe. Additionally, it was announced that not only would Tyler Hoechlin reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman, but that Grimm alum Elizabeth Tulloch would appear as Lois Lane. The good crossover news doesn't end there, though. Now the event is actually filming, which means set photos are starting to make their way online care of the shows' casts. Thanks to the Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, fans have gotten an interesting look at Superman. Amell posted a photo of himself, alongside Hoechlin and Grant Gustin (The Flash). Hoechlin, though, isn't wearing the traditional red and blue Superman costume. Instead, he's wearing a black suit.🤯🤯🤯 pic.twitter.com/vkqQHTkSGq — Stephen Amell (@StephenAmell) October 15, 2018The black Superman suit has appeared in comics a lot over the years, most recently in Superman: Lois and Clark. What remains to be seen is how it will play into the crossover, which is titled "Elseworlds." In the comics, "Elseworlds" stories take DC superheroes and put them in stories out of continuity. That said, it would be very surprising if Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl all dedicated episodes to an event that doesn't have a lasting impact on any of the shows. Perhaps the story will drop the trio of superheroes into yet another Earth in the multiverse, in which they join with alternate versions of themselves and other heroes.Whatever the case, the idea of Superman in a black suit is an exciting one. With that, Batwoman, a trip to Gotham City, and everything else in store in the upcoming crossover event, this might be the most memorable one yet. "Elseworlds" kicks off on December 9 on The CW.Info from Gamespot.com

HBO struck ratings gold with Game of Thrones, which was adapted from George R.R. Martin's famously unfinished book series, A Song of Ice and Fire. Now Syfy is getting in on the action with its own GRRM adaptation, Nightflyers. We got the chance to see the first episode at New York Comic Con 2018, so click here to find out what we thought.Regarding Nightflyers' release, the sci-fi thriller will get its 10-episode first season in December, but on top of the traditional TV air dates, Syfy will also be releasing all of the episodes to stream online for a limited time--with a catch.Collider reports that when the series premieres on Sunday, December 2, the first five episodes will also become available across Syfy's streaming platforms. Those will only be available through Thursday, December 6, and then the second half of the season will stream between December 9-13.Nightflyers revolves around a team of scientists venturing into deep space along with a telepath with the hopes of contacting alien life. Of course, everything goes very severely wrong and starts to pit them against each other, testing their resolve and their sanity. The ensemble cast includes Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Gretchen Mol, Jodie Turner-Smith, Angus Sampson, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, and BrÃan F. O’Byrne.Meanwhile, Martin's other series is preparing to wrap up for good, as Game of Thrones' eighth and final season is set to premiere sometime next year. That definitely won't be the last we hear of Westeros, though, as HBO is keen on keeping it going with spin-offs, sequels, and prequels.Info from Gamespot.com

Those who know of What We Do in the Shadows probably think of the 2014 cult hit mockumentary about a brood of oddball vampires wrestling with typical roommate drama like who should do the dishes and how to gobble down human blood without making a mess in the living room. Ten years before that, it was a short film that Jemaine Clement claims was made for about $200.Before that, as Clement and his co-creator Taika Waititi revealed today at New York Comic Con 2018, the idea was born as a stand up comedy routine in which one of them told bad vampire jokes ("I just flew in from Transylvania and boy are my arms tired!") and the other heckled him, also as a vampire, until they recognized one another as centuries-long rivals. Now, it's FX's latest comedy show, and based on the pilot episode--which screened exclusively during NYCC on Sunday--What We Do in the Shadows is perfect for fans.(Disclaimer: The pilot episode screened at NYCC was reportedly unfinished, and this is not a review of the final program.)The new What We Do in the Shadows follows a similar formula to the original. Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and Laszlo (Matt Berry) are vampire roommates, this time in New York City's Staten Island rather than the original's New Zealand. But their dynamic, and the humor it enables, is similar. When Nandor, who was once a "ferocious" soldier in the Ottoman Empire, calls a flat meeting in the library, he and Laszlo (Berry, giving off similar vibes to Jemaine Clement's character in the original movie) nearly come to blows over the bad habit of leaving half-drained humans around the house. They bare their teeth and hiss like feral cats before Nadja, Laszlo's partner and the series' first female vampire, defuses the situation. As any normal roommates would, the three resolve to mark their human prey with their names and dates of consumption from now on to avoid the problem in the future. Nandor adds "buy markers" to the list of chores for his hapless familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillen), who keeps a photo of his childhood self dressed as Antonio Banderas from Interview with a Vampire framed in his sad bedroom under the stairs, and serves his master's every whim in the hopes of one day being turned into a vampire himself.Panel photos courtesy FX The group's way of life is challenged when an ancient vampire baron comes to visit via lantern-lit ship from the old country. Our heroes, it turns out, arrived on Staten Island 200 years earlier and, instead of undertaking their mission to colonize all of America as part of a new vampire world order, they just kind of hung around. They worry the baron, who fills a similar comedic role to the movie's 8,000-year-old vampire Petyr, is there to check on the progress of their mission.Although the show is definitely similar to the movie, it's clear from this unfinished pilot that co-creators Clement and Waititi--as well as executive producer and writer Paul Sims, who joined them onstage after the screening--have plenty of new ideas for this world. For example, just as in the movie, our three vampire protagonists have a roommate. But instead of the millennia-old Petyr, Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) is basically just an average-looking guy. In what is undoubtedly the episode's best and most unexpected gag, Colin is a "psychic vampire" who can drain all the energy from humans and other vampires alike just by speaking to them about boring subjects like office gossip and different types of car washes."We either bore you with a long conversation, or we enrage you," Colin explains in the episode. "In fact, you probably know an energy vampire. We're the most common kind of vampire."Clement said afterward that he came up with the idea for Colin while researching types of vampires. "I think we all know a person like that," he said. "We hadn't thought of anything like that for the movie, but when I was reading about different kinds of vampires, that was one that people mentioned as a real kind of vampire that exists and that we all come up against. And I could think of conversations I've had where I've been trapped by someone, and probably people have felt like that with me there." In the episode's other subplots, Guillermo hunts for tasty virgins at a LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) event, while Nadja stalks a human man who she believes may be her reincarnated former lover, a knight named Gregor who she accidentally decapitated centuries earlier. Meanwhile, Laszlo and Nadja each separately reveal that they're looking forward to the baron's arrival for the same reason: Despite being a decrepit, crumbling horror, the baron is apparently a monster in the sack, although each is unaware that the other has been there. It's easy to see how FX will stretch out the absurd, distinctive comedy from the original 2014 movie into a full series. There's plenty in this pilot--which is uproariously funny, even in unfinished form--that could conceivably continue for whole seasons, from Guillermo's hopeless pining to become an immortal to Nadja and Lazslo's unwitting love triangle with the ancient baron. And much like the movie, sprinkled throughout the show are moments of gruesome horror that give it just a little bit of a sharpened, wooden edge. What We Do in the Shadows won't premiere on FX until Spring 2019, but Sims has already teased a future episode in which the brood will venture into Manhattan. As they haven't actually left Staten Island since arriving by ship centuries earlier, they've apparently always assumed the island borough is all of New York, or maybe even all of America. But they'll discover that their fellow nightwalkers in Manhattan are "a little cooler" than them, according to Sims.A still from the 2014 film Now that we've caught a glimpse of What We Do in the Shadows and we know what kind of show we're getting, the last remaining question for fans has to be whether Clement's and Waititi's characters from the movie will ever appear on the FX show."Only if something really disastrous happens," Clemente teased cryptically. "It would have to be of incredible import.""We're creating a universe to rival that of Marvel and DC," Waititi joked. "What we're doing is we're taking one idea and stretching it out for years and years.""That's what they do too," Clement replied, laughing. What We Do in the Shadows is scheduled to premiere on FX in Spring 2019.New York Comic Con 2018 CoverageFull Daredevil Season 3 Trailer Features Two Daredevils And Lots Of HittingThe Walking Dead Creator Says "Stay Tuned" For Telltale ResolutionAquaman - Official Trailer #2Best NYCC 2018 Cosplay -- Marvel, Star Wars, DC, More (Day 1)Netflix's The Dragon Prince Season 2 Coming Next YearNetflix's Daredevil Season 3 Is Getting PoliticalCheck Out The Aquaman Movie Costumes At DC's NYCC BoothMortal Engines At NYCC: The First 30 Minutes Is Pure '80s Adventure NostalgiaAmerican Gods Season 2 Release Date Announced During Comic-Con PanelNYCC 2018: Best Cosplay At New York Comic Con 2018Nightflyers Feels Like A Slick Homage To The Best Of Space HorrorBest NYCC 2018 Cosplay -- Spider-Man, X-Men, Doctor Who, More (Day 2)Hellboy NY Comic Con Exclusive Trailer Shows Iconic Flaming CrownBoy Meets World Cast Explains Why Show Is Still Relevant After 25 YearsMarvel’s Daredevil: Season 3 - Bullseye Origin Story Trailer | NYCC 2018Devil May Cry 5 Reveals New Cowboy Hat WeaponHulu's Future Man Debuts Season 2 Premiere And First Trailer At NYCCNew Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Trailer Shows Young SpockDC Titans NYCC Premiere | First ImpressionsDark Phoenix: The X-Men Go To Space In NYCC FootageJean Grey's Dark Phoenix Origin Revealed At NYCCBest NYCC 2018 Cosplay -- Dragon Ball Super, Star Wars, Game Of Thrones, And More (Day 3)NYCC 2018: Cobra Kai Heads Back To Mr. Miyagi's House For Season 2Info from Gamespot.com

Fans seem to agree: American Horror Story's Michael Langdon, played expertly by Cody Fern, is TV's sexiest Antichrist. That may be a relatively small category, but there's no denying Langdon's allure. When we got the chance to speak with Fern about the role, we couldn't help but ask him: How does it feel to be anointed as a sex symbol?"Oh, I don't know what to think about that," he said, chuckling. "I don't have a Twitter, but I do find--people have read things out to me, and I do find them alarming and funny and generous. I can't think about that stuff, you know, because I'm just doing what I'm doing, and how people are receiving it is how they're receiving it."However, Fern admitted that he "built a lot of sexuality into Langdon." He said he and Sarah Paulson, who plays three different characters and also directed an episode this season, discovered that side of his character together."We found Langdon's temptation in that scene when she goes to kiss Langdon," he said. That was also the first scene he shot as the character. "This woman who has clearly no intimacy in her life, whose body is broken and fractured and whose soul is wavering between the real world and the dark places, and she reaches out to kiss Langdon, and he tells her she's not getting into the Sanctuary--I mean, that was a very powerful moment for me on set, to understand that, wow, Langdon can twist anybody. I wanted to build that into every scene in the outpost."From that point forward, he made sure that side of Langdon was evident in every scene, even the darkest points in the story. "The way that he enters a room is creating desire in people," Fern said. "When Venable is waiting for Langdon to come, everybody's sitting in a library, and Langdon enters--he enters, he doesn't look at anybody but Venable. He circles around the entire room, he takes the position, and everything is sexual. The way that he has her move out of the way. The way he begins his conversation. The way that he sees a massacre--it's a sexy thing, that you can take this pill and you'll die."Langdon's look, with his red eyeshadow and flowing, golden hair, adds to his mystique. Fern said the hair was the first thing AHS creator Ryan Murphy told him about the character, who was first introduced as a demonic baby way back in American Horror Story Season 1. "I didn't know that I was playing Michael Langdon until two days before we started filming, and I didn't have the first script until two days before," Fern said. "The only thing that Ryan had told me about the character was that he was going to have long, flowing, Dorian Gray hair. But as soon as I put that wig on, I knew who Langdon was."Beyond the hair, Fern said he can take only partial credit for the rest of Langdon's distinctive look. "I worked closely with Lou Eyrich, who's just the most phenomenal costume designer, and with Eryn Mekash, the head of makeup, and Michelle [Ceglia], who's the head of hair," he said. "We all had long conversations about how Langdon should look." The red eyeshadow was Fern's insistence, and it's another aspect of the character's appearance he was excited about."In terms of his sexual nature, he needs to be very liquid in everything that he does," Fern described. "He needs to straddle the fence between what is considered feminine and what is considered masculine, between how he dresses and how he presents himself. I don't see the Antichrist as being--he doesn't have a sexual orientation. He is the embodiment of something sexual, so whatever that is in a person, whatever their deepest desire is, he'll draw out."It certainly doesn't hurt his appeal that Michael Langdon is so deliciously evil--or is he? Langdon seems to be the villain of Apocalypse, maybe even the cause of the end of the world--but Fern disputes the idea that he's evil."I don't think that Langdon is evil. I think that Langdon is righteous," Fern said. "He understands that people are lying about who they are, and that everybody is keeping up this facade of being good and wholesome, but deep down, they want to do dark things. And he just brings that out in them. So he's the light that illuminates the dark. That's how I see Langdon...He doesn't see that he's destroying the world. He sees his role as one of creation--of creating a new world."No doubt many AHS fans would be happy to live in that world, as long as it meant being close to our favorite new demonic sex symbol.American Horror Story Apocalypse airs Wednesdays on FX.
