When transferring your Pokemon from Pokemon Go to Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu / Let's Go Eevee, make sure you don't do anything to interrupt the process, says Nintendo. Interrupting the transfer could result in you losing some of your Pokemon from Pokemon Go.To make sure the process isn't interrupted, Nintendo highlighted some best practices on its support site. When you decide to start moving your Pokemon from Go over into Let's Go, make sure to avoid clicking the home or power button on your Switch. You also don't want to press the home button, turn off Bluetooth, or suspend the Pokemon Go app on your mobile device. Nintendo also advises keeping your mobile device and Switch console close together during the process to ensure a smooth transition.Following this advice should prevent any problems when you transfer your Pokemon. If you notice that your transfer has somehow paused itself or did not completely move all your Pokemon over, Nintendo advises you turn off the Pokemon Go app and uninstall it. After reinstalling the game, you should be able to resume the transfer again. However, any Pokemon that were in between your mobile device and Switch may be lost for good, "as uninstalling and reinstalling the app would cause the transfer process to be stuck in limbo."If you're having trouble transferring any of your Pokemon from Go to Let's Go--including the Pokemon Go exclusive Meltan--check out our guide. For even more Let's Go tips, check out our list of 9 things you should know before starting and our guide to getting Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. In our Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu / Let's Go, Eevee review, Jake Dekker gave the two games an 8/10, writing, "...Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are delightful reimaginings of the series' origins and a deep RPG in their own right. It makes a lot of smart improvements on the original Red, Blue, and Yellow while holding on to what made them so special in the first place."Info from Gamespot.com

Microsoft executive vice-president of gaming Phil Spencer has teased that Xbox has "a lot to share" at E3 2019. Spencer tweeted about the event moments after Sony announced it would not be attending E3 next year."A lot to share with fans at E3 2019. Always a high point of the year to witness the industry's creativity and the energy of the community," Spencer tweeted. An hour later, Xbox followed up by tweeting out to fans that the company "can't wait" to see everyone at E3 2019. Although the company has not confirmed it, one of the announcements that Xbox is looking to share could be the new console teased at E3 2018.Xbox may be presenting at a different time for E3 2019 as well. Xbox business lead for Asia Jeremy Hinton tweeted that Microsoft would be moving its presentation time in consideration of Australian viewers. We've reached out to Microsoft to confirm, as well as whether the company intends to have its E3 presentation outside the event hall, like this past year. The absence of Sony from E3 2019 will be the first time the company won't be attending the event since E3 was founded. Sony has shared the spotlight at E3 with both Microsoft and Nintendo for a number of years, so it's a fairly big surprise to see the company willingly sit out. The first details that Sony wouldn't be in attendance were announced via the ESA. Sony followed-up with a confirmation."As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community," the company said in a statement to GameSpot. "PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can't wait to share our plans with you."Info from Gamespot.com

The November 2018 Xbox One update is officially live, and it adds mouse and keyboard support to certain games on the console. The choice of whether a game on Xbox One supports mouse and keyboard controls will be up to individual developers, and nearly a dozen are planning to add the feature to their games in the near future.Microsoft has announced in a blog post that Fortnite and Warframe now support mouse and keyboard controls. Gaijin Entertainment's War Thunder supports the new control scheme as well. Support is expected to launch for Bomber Crew, Deep Rock Galactic, Strange Brigade, Vermintide 2, and X-Morph Defense later this month. Children of Morta, DayZ, Minion Master, Moonlighter, Vigor, Warface, and Wargroove are scheduled to be updated with mouse and keyboard controls at a later date. The new update also opens the Alexa Beta program--which allows you control your Xbox One with your voice--to the UK. Improvements have been made to the Cortana feature on US Xbox One's as well, and new commands for both Alexa and Cortana that allow you to completely navigate through your console's menus with your voice have been implemented across the US and UK. The update also adds the Amazon Music app to Xbox One consoles, as well as an expanded search function for finding games.Last week, Microsoft revealed a selection of Designed for Xbox mice and keyboard peripherals, created in partnership with Razer. The new tech will be shown off at CES in January 2019. Microsoft says these are going to be "created for living room or desktop scenarios, come equipped with a dedicated Xbox key, and support the new Xbox Dynamic Lighting feature enabling immersive in-game lighting effects."Info from Gamespot.com

As you work through Fallout 76's main quest line, it's more than likely your progress will come to a screeching halt in the quest "Into the Fire." This is because you're tasked to pass the Fire Breather Knowledge Exam, a multiple-choice test that you're liable to fail if you're unprepared. It's the first step of a longer trial that'll eventually help increase your chances of survival against the dangers of the West Virginia wasteland. For the uninitiated, the Fire Breathers were a division of fire fighters dedicated to combating the Scorched before 2102, who were masters of surviving the wasteland's more hazardous climates. Passing their exam grants you access to their protective equipment, which you can use to navigate the Ash Heap. Below we detail the answers to the Fire Breather Knowledge Exam, as well as provide another solution for those who need a little direction but don't want the answers. If you're looking for more Fallout 76 guides, check out our survival guide, as well as our guide offering tips you should know before starting. You can also check out our feature highlighting where to get some easy Power Armor sets. If you're more curious about how the game is, read our Fallout 76 early review impressions.Where To Find The Answers YourselfWhen you arrive at the Charleston Fire Department, you'll need to take the Knowledge Exam to initiate the process of becoming a Fire Breather. The questions mostly lean on your common sense, but you might run into some issues answering the questions correctly. Luckily for you, there is a cheat sheet in the main office upstairs. Refer to the screenshots below if you need help pinpointing exactly where it is.Alternatively, you can search the station for marked notes scattered around the station that provide answers to the test. There are two notes in the same room as the terminal, while there's another in the locker room next door in an open locker. The last note is in the fire truck garage in another open locker. You can probably just look to the first method if you want an easier time!Exam AnswersWhile the cheat sheet itself provides pretty much all the answers to the exam, you're free to look below for all the answers. No judgement! Just input them into the Fire Breather Training System terminal downstairs and you should be well on your way.Question 1:The tunnel you're traversing has begun filling up with a strange gas and you're without your breathing apparatus. What do you do?Answer: Evacuate as quickly as possibleQuestion 2:While traversing a smoke-filled building, your breathing apparatus has failed. Which of the following will serve as the best replacement?Answer: A water-soaked ragQuestion 3:One of your fellow Fire Breathers has been burned. The area is painful to the touch, but no blisters are forming. You've applied a cool compress. What's the next thing you should do?Answer: Gently bind the burn with clean bandagesQuestion 4:While exploring a collapsed mine, your team leader flashes their safety light quickly three times. What does this mean?Answer: Retreat immediatelyQuestion 5:One of your squadmates has caught a case of Sludge lung. Which of the following sets of ingredients, when cooked together, can be used as a cure?Answer: 1 pt. Purified Water, 2 Ash Rose, 2 Blight, 2 Soot FlowerQuestion 6:You've stumbled upon a band of Scorch-diseases people brandishing clubs. Which of the following is the only acceptable method of engaging them?Answer: Fall back and engage from a distance with firearmsQuestion 7:You've captured a Scorched-infected man who you recognize as a childhood friend. What do you do?Answer: End his life as mercifully as possible Info from Gamespot.com

With Black Friday coming right up, it's no surprise we're seeing lots of great deals on video games. But what is surprising is how much you can save on games that came out just a month or two ago. If the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man has been on your wishlist or gift list, now is the time to grab it, because it's on sale for a great price at several retailers right now, and you're not likely to find it cheaper anytime soon.Spider-Man launched on September 7 exclusively for PlayStation 4. Made by veteran PlayStation developer Insomniac Games, the company behind the Ratchet & Clank series, it has received almost universally high marks from critics and players alike.$40 -- Ebay$40 -- PlayStation Store (digital copy)$52 -- AmazonGameSpot scored Spider-Man 9/10, with Edmond Tran writing, "The feeling of embodying Spidey and using his abilities is astonishing, and the time spent on exploring its major characters help make its story feel heartfelt, despite superhero bombast. There have been open-world Spider-Man games before, but none so riveting and full of personality, none that explore and do justice to this many facets of the universe. Insomniac has created a superior Spider-Man experience that leaves a lasting impression, one that has you longing for just one more swing around New York City, even after the credits roll." You can read more in our Spider-Man PS4 review. The post-release content for Spider-Man includes three DLC episodes. Just prior to the release of the latest update, Week 8 of Fortnite Season 6 kicked off, bringing a new assortment of challenges to complete in Epic's popular battle royale game across PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. If you're hoping to snag the rest of Season 6's Battle Pass rewards, you'll want to complete as many challenges as you can, as doing so will reward you with the XP and Battle Stars needed to unlock them. That isn't the only incentive to complete challenges; if you manage to clear all of the ones from a given week, you'll also earn a special loading screen, which hides a clue pointing to a free item that's hidden somewhere around the map. Depending on how many sets of weekly challenges you complete, you'll either be able to find a free Battle Star--which will level your Battle Pass up by one tier--or a Banner that you can use as a profile icon.If you've completed every challenge up to and including Week 8's, you'll unlock the loading screen pictured below. It features the AIM skin--the Legendary outfit you receive after completing seven of this season's Hunting Party challenges--perched atop a roof viewing at a holographic map of the island. Look closely at the background, however, and you'll notice the outline of a Banner etched on the chimney just behind the character. The area alluded to in the loading screen is Flush Factory, located in the southern edge of the island. Glide there at the start of a match, land on top of the roof, and you'll find the Banner near the chimney just as teased. Collect it and you'll be able to use it as your icon. We've highlight its exact location on the map below. As is the case with previous Hunting Party rewards, you'll need to complete the requisite number of challenges and unlock the aforementioned loading screen before being able to collect this Banner. The item won't appear on the map unless you've cleared all of the necessary steps, so you won't simply be able to go to its location and collect it without putting in the necessary work.Season 6 of Fortnite is winding down, giving you only have a few more weeks to unlock the rest of its Battle Pass cosmetics and other rewards. Week 8's challenges are all fairly straightforward, although its trickier missions task you with shooting clay pigeons and dancing in front of fish trophies. If you need help completing any of the challenges from this season, be sure to check out our Fortnite Season 6 challenge roundup. One of Microsoft's newest studios, The Initiative, continues to hire big-name talent. Drew Murray, who worked at Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, and Sunset Overdrive studio Insomniac Games, has joined The Initiative in the role of "developer." Murray was a junior designer on Resistance: Fall of Man, before working on Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction as a designer. He was elevated to senior designer for Resistance 2 and then worked on Resistance 3 as a lead designer. Murray then became the game director for Insomniac's Xbox One game Sunset Overdrive. According to his LinkedIn page, Murray left Insomniac in October 2015 after 10 years with the company, so he wasn't around for Insomniac's Spider-Man for PS4, which was a critical and a commercial success. There is no word yet as to what The Initiative's first game will be, but what we do know is that Microsoft has been hiring some very big names for the studio. Before Murray, The Initiative hired Rockstar Games veteran Tom Shepherd, who was the technical director for Red Dead Redemption 1, Max Payne 3, and Grand Theft Auto V. He also worked on Midnight Club 3 and Midnight Club Remix during his 11 years at Rockstar San Diego. The list of other high-profile hirings is long. Microsoft previously hired Red Dead Redemption 1 writer/designer Christian Cantamessa, along with God of War lead producer Brian Westergaard. Other newly hired employees include Dan Neuburger (a 12-year veteran of Crystal Dynamics), Blake Fischer (a 16-year Microsoft veteran in publishing), Annie Lohr (formerly a recruiter at Respawn and Snapchat), and Lindsey McQueeney (former recruiter at Google, Crystal Dynamics, and 38 Studios). The Initiative was announced at E3 as part of Microsoft's wider announcement of new studios and acquisitions. The company, which is based in Santa Monica, says its ambition is "about craft, creating story, innovating, and looking ahead to the next big thing." While the company is owned by Microsoft, it claims to operate independently.Darrell Gallagher, a former Square Enix and Activision boss, is heading up The Initiative for Microsoft. The Initiative is just one of seven studios that Microsoft either set up or acquired in the past six months. At E3, Microsoft announced that it acquired Playground Games (Forza Horizon), Compulsion Games (We Happy Few), Ninja Theory (Hellblade), and Undead Labs (State of Decay). At Microsoft's X018 event in Mexico City, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas) and inXile Entertainment (Wasteland 3). Info from Gamespot.com

We've officially reached the week of Black Friday 2018, and that means that there's a fair few discounts already live. This is certainly the case for Sony's PSN and Microsoft's Xbox Live, which both have sales that discount digital PS4 and Xbox One games. You can also already get the advertised prices on PS4 and Xbox One bundles, so if you're eager to grab yourself some new hardware, you can do so now.Best Buy's sale is already live for My Best Buy members, and that's really just the tip of the iceberg. Ebay already has great Xbox One X deals (dropping it as low as $380), the PS4 Spider-Man bundle is on sale at numerous stores days before we expected, and PS Plus is $40 at a whole bunch of retailers. And after looking like Spider-Man and Fallout 76 wouldn't be discounted, we've now learned of deals on both.Black Friday officially begins on November 23, and beyond what you can get now, we already know most of what to expect. Everything from 4K TVs to PS4, Xbox One X, and Nintendo Switch are on sale, not to mention games and movies ranging from Red Dead Redemption 2 and Star Wars to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Deadpool 2. The crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen started six years ago in October 2012, and in that time, the super-ambitious PC space same has been a massive success from a funding perspective. It's now reached yet another milestone: $200 million."The amount is the highest total for any project in the history of crowdfunding," creator Chris Roberts said in a blog post. "And [it's] beyond anything I could have imagined in my wildest dreams."The person who pushed Star Citizen over $200 million is someone from New South Wales in Australia who has been supporting Star Citizen since 2014. Support for Star Citizen has come from people in 171 countries, including smaller ones like San Marino."We cover the globe, pole to pole from Antarctica to Svalbard and Jan Mayen," Roberts said. "Considering there are only 193 countries in the world, that's an amazing number and shows how universal the appeal of Star Citizen is."Right now, there are more than 500 people working on Star Citizen and its campaign mode Squadron 42 spread across five studios in three different countries.Part of what's made Star Citizen so enduringly successful is the way in which developer Cloud Imperium Games speaks openly and frankly to fans, Roberts says."To reduce Star Citizen to just be about the amount raised is to do a disservice to all this," Roberts said. "No other game shares as much information on a weekly basis, and no other game I know of is as focused on listening to and working with its community to make the best game possible. When I look around and see other games, even ones from major publishers, copying our playbook, I know we have had a positive influence on the gaming industry."One of the criticisms of Star Citizen has been how the game remains officially unreleased after so long. Parts of the game, modules, have been made available, but the full product and the Squadron 42 mode remain in development. Roberts said Cloud Imperium will announce the roadmap for Squadron 42's completion in December, while the project overall is getting closer to release, even if it's still a while out."We are getting closer all the time to having a living, breathing persistent universe and as we close out this year, I look at the technology we must complete to achieve the vision and realize we are nearer to the end than the start."A new trailer for Star Citizen premiered at the Star Citizen fan event CitizenCon, showing a number of big-name celebrities who will appear in the Squadron 42 mode. Check out the trailer above to see people like Gillian Anderson, Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Mark Strong, Henry Cavill, John Rhys Davies, Liam Cunningham, and Ben Mendelsohn. In other news, Star Citizen's Alpha 3.3 update is out now, and it adds a new face-scanning Face over IP feature, as well as more ships, weapons, enemy characters, and lots more. What video games and consoles sold the best in October? The NPD Group has released its report for the month, revealing that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 topped the software sales charts while Sony's PlayStation 4 was the best-performing console in the month in the United States.Rounding out the top five best-selling games, in order, were Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, NBA 2K19, and Super Mario Party. Notably, while Red Dead Redemption 2 had an astoundingly excellent first few days (it's shipped 17 million copies already), its launch came at the end of the month (October 26) compared to an early-October release (October 12) for Black Ops 4.According to the NPD, Black Ops 4's first-month dollar sales amounted to the eighth biggest since NPD started tracking sales in 1995. After just one month, Black Ops 4 is now the best-selling game of 2018 in the US, and the second best-selling game of the trailing 12-month period, only behind Call of Duty: WWII. It appears Black Ops 4 not having a traditional campaign didn't hurt sales as some might have predicted. The reporting period for October was October 7 through November 3.As for Red Dead Redemption 2, it's now the second best-selling game of 2018. Its launch-month sales were three times higher than the first-month sales of Red Dead Redemption 1 in 2010.With console, portable, and PC sales combined, total software revenue more than doubled from last October to $965 million. That's good for the best October in NPD history, besting the previous high of $743 million from October 2008. Notably, the Call of Duty franchise normally releases in November, while Red Dead Redemption 2 is a once-a-console-generation-type game, so better-than-normal results were expected.Moving to hardware, Sony's PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console of October 2018 in terms of units sold and total revenue. In face, October was the PS4's best October ever for unit sales, while total dollar sales were the highest of any October since October 2014. Covering all platforms, total spending on hardware rose 26 percent year-over-year to $300 million. The PS4 and Xbox One posted "significant gains," but other platforms declined. With software, hardware, and accessories combined, total spending on video games in the US in October 2018 came out to $1.55 billion, which was up 73 percent. October 2018 represented the best month ever since NPD started tracking video game sales in 1995. The previous record was $1.36 billion from October 2008.October 2018 Best-Selling GamesAll-PlatformsCall of Duty: Black Ops 4^Red Dead Redemption 2Assassin's Creed OdysseyNBA 2K19Super Mario Party*Soul Calibur VIFIFA 19^Spider-ManMadden NFL 19^WWE 2K19Forza Horizon 4Lego DC Super VillainsMy Hero One's JusticeShadow of the Tomb RaiderMario Kart 8*Grand Theft Auto VSuper Mario Odyssey*Diablo III***The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild*NHL 19All Platforms Year To DateCall of Duty: Black Ops 4^Red Dead Redemption 2Far Cry 5Spider-ManNBA 2K19God of WarMonster Hunter: WorldMadden NFL 19^Grand Theft Auto VCall of Duty: WWIIAll Platforms Ending October 2018Call of Duty: WWII^Call of Duty: Black Ops 4^Red Dead Redemption 2Far Cry 5Star Wars: Battlefront IISuper Mario OdysseySpider-ManNBA 2K19God of WarNBA 2K18Xbox One October 2018Call of Duty: Black Ops 4Red Dead Redemption IIAssassin's Creed: OdysseyForza Horizon 4NBA 2K19Madden NFL 19FIFA 19WWE 2K19Soul Calibur VIShadow of the Tomb RaiderPS4 October 2018Call of Duty: Black Ops 4Red Dead Redemption IIAssassin's Creed: OdysseySpider-ManSoul Calibur VINBA 2K19FIFA 19WWE 2K19Madden NFL 19My Hero One's JusticeNintendo Switch October 2018Super Mario PartyMario Kart 8Super Mario OdysseyThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildDiablo IIIStarlink: Battle For AtlasDark Souls RemasteredThe World Ends With You: Final RemixLego DC Super VillainsMy Hero One's JusticeNintendo 3DS October 2018Luigi's MansionPokemon: Ultra SunPokemon: Ultra MoonMario Kart 7MinecraftSuper Smash Bros.Super Mario 3D LandLuigi's Mansion: Dark MoonMario Party: The Top 100New Super Mario Bros. 2* Digital sales not included^ PC digital sales not included*** Diablo III sales include 100% of Physical and Digital on Sony and Microsoft consolesInfo from Gamespot.com

[UPDATE] The Dynamite item has been re-introduced to Fortnite, while Epic also made "some adjustments" to the mounted turret. Click the link below to learn more. Boom! We’ve re-enabled Dynamite as well as made some adjustments to the Mounted Turret.Head over to the link for more details: https://t.co/epzLxDQbLa? — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) November 21, 2018The original story is below.A new update is now available for Fortnite. On top of kicking off a new limited-time event, the cowboy-themed Wild West mode, patch 6.30 introduces another weapon to the game's extensive arsenal: Dynamite. However, you won't be able to find it at the moment, as the developer has had to temporarily disable the item shortly after it arrived. As Epic explained on Twitter, the Dynamite has been removed from Fortnite "while [it investigates] an increase in client crashes." The developer hasn't provided a time table for when players could expect the weapon to return, but it says it will provide a further update on its status once it has more information. The Dynamite is an uncommon item that drops in stacks of three. It can be found as floor loot or in chests, Vending Machines, Supply Drops, and Supply Llamas, and it sounds particularly formidable. Its throw range is shorter than that of a Grenade, but it deals 70 damage to other players and a whopping 800 to structures.Dynamite is also one of the few items that appear in Fortnite's new Wild West LTM. This mode plays out much like a typical Battle Royale match, but it only features weapons and items that might be used by cowboys and cowgirls, such as the Hunting Rifle, Pump Shotgun, and Double Barrel Shotgun. Another weapon, the Minigun, was also available in the mode, but Epic recently announced that has since been removed. In addition to the new item and LTM, update 6.30 introduced the Ghost Pistol to Fortnite's paid Save the World mode. Epic had previously said the mode would follow in Battle Royale's footsteps and go free-to-play this year, but that has been delayed as the developer needs more time to work on some reworks and additional features.Info from Gamespot.com

We're now in Black Friday week, and the two main versions of Xbox One--the Xbox One S and Xbox One X--will be seeing a variety of discounts and bundles. The more expensive Xbox One X, which normally goes for $500, will see some particularly nice offers, including a few that are live right now.All of the Xbox One X discounts on Black Friday 2018 that we've spotted so far are outlined below. Best Buy has one of the best offers at $430, which gets you a special Battlefield V bundle. This consists of a special-edition Xbox One console, Battlefield V, Battlefield 1: Revolution, and Battlefield 1943, plus an additional controller. This bundle is live right now for My Best Buy members.Another quality Xbox One X deal that's already live is a $400 NBA 2K19 bundle; alternatively, $420 gets you that same bundle plus Assassin's Creed Odyssey. If you'd prefer to choose your own games, you can get the system on its own for $380. Ebay also says it'll have more deals on the console later in the week.Another very nice deal comes from Kohl's, where the console is being sold with a digital copy of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and a $120 Kohl's cash card for $400.We've listed all the sales for each store in case you need a back-up plan, and will update this article if more deals are announced. Just remember when stores open and close for Black Friday so you can take advantage of the deal you want. The One X is the most powerful version of the Xbox One, possessing faster load times and playing games with enhanced framerates. It also renders certain games natively in 4K. The One X is much smaller than other Xbox One consoles and--like the One S--can be stored and played horizontally and doesn't have a massive power brick, so it doesn't take up much space. The Xbox One X can also bring the most out of X-enhanced games, which are titles specifically designed or patched to have smoother performances on One X. These include newer titles--like Forza Horizon 4, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and Mass Effect Andromeda--and older games as well, such as Halo 3, Portal 2, and Mirror's Edge. To take full advantage of X-enhanced games, you'll want to hook your Xbox One X up to a 4K TV, which are also on sale this Black Friday.Xbox One X Black Friday DealsBest BuyXbox One X Gold Rush Special Edition Battlefield V Bundle + select controller -- $430EbayXbox One X -- $380Xbox One X with NBA 2K19 -- $400Xbox One X with NBA 2K19 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey -- $420TargetXbox One X -- $430 (unconfirmed)WalmartXbox One X -- $399Kohl'sXbox One X 1TB PlayUnknown's Battlegrounds Bundle + $120 Kohl's Cash -- $400Microsoft StoreXbox One X -- $400GameStopXbox One X -- $70 off and includes $50 gift cardInfo from Gamespot.com

Among the most notable aspects of the Destiny 2 weekly reset is the latest Ascendant Challenge for those who own the Forsaken DLC. This is the end of the six-week cycle of challenges, and it's one of the most spookiest and most involved. Here's where to find the Taken portal and what to do once you're inside. As always, the first step is to pick up the Ascendant Challenge from Petra--this is what nets you a piece of Powerful gear for completing it. Once that's done, make sure you have a Tincture of Queensfoil. With that in hand, you'll enter the Lost Sector in Rheasilvia. You'll need to make your way through the entire thing, as the portal is located just behind the chest that unlocks after killing the boss. While optional, you might as well complete the Lost Sector to make things easier on yourself. With that out of the way, use the Tincture to gain the Ascendance buff, which allows you to see the Taken portal. The exact location can be seen in the video above and map below.Jump through the portal to head to Cimmerian Garrison, located in the Ascendant Plane. Here, you'll be faced with what amounts to a gauntlet--you'll need to make your way through and kill an enemy at the end. Once you go inside, you'll be chased by three knights. As you progress, you'll have to deal with various enemies, including hobgoblins, shriekers, and thrall with yellow health bars. Take them out as you go, and you'll reach a point where you have to platform across some rocks (because it wouldn't be an Ascendant Challenge without some first-person platforming). Along the way, be mindful of the Taken corruption that will periodically explode with a blast of energy, which can send you falling you to your death if you aren't careful.Once you're done platforming, you'll have to kill a knight to finish things out, but beware the shrieker that spawns nearby. With the knight dead, open the chest to complete the Ascendant Challenge. There may not be any special rewards inside there, but you'll get a piece of Powerful gear for turning in the associated bounty. This week's reset marks the end of the Iron Banner, but there's something new to keep players engaged through the next week: bonus Infamy points in Gambit. If you're trying to finish any Season 4 Gambit Triumphs (or any other timed Triumphs, for that matter), you'll want to take advantage--Season 4 draws to a close at the next weekly reset on November 27. The start of Season 5 will see some info on the next expansion to Destiny, The Black Armory. Meanwhile, if you're looking for something else to do, you can always go earn the game's latest Exotic, Thunderlord, now that its three-week quest is fully unlocked. Info from Gamespot.com

Chaos and scale have always been the foundation of the Battlefield franchise, and Battlefield V is no different. Squads of soldiers relentlessly push towards objectives with either sheer force or improvised tactics while gunfire and explosions ring throughout the beautiful, but war-torn landscapes. It's an overwhelming sensory experience and a fine execution of a familiar formula--if you play the better modes.Battlefield V goes back to where the franchise began by using World War II's European theater as the backdrop for first-person shooting and vehicular combat in large multiplayer matches. It's not too dissimilar to Battlefield 1, where every weapon has a distinct weight and impact that comes through vividly in both sight and sound. The core conceits of Battlefield remain mostly untouched, but small tweaks have been made to the formula, most of which are welcome.Ground troops are even more deadly this time around, with a revamped ballistics model (random bullet deviation is gone) that results in reduced time-to-kill for skilled players; floundering in open areas is now more dangerous than ever. Navigating the maps' messy terrain has a smooth, intuitive feel whether you're mantling obstacles or scrambling for cover. All players regardless of class can revive squadmates, which highly encourages sticking together and alleviates the disappointment of dying without a medic around. Since it takes a few precious seconds to perform a revive and is limited to squadmates, it doesn't negate the importance of the Medic class' instant revive. The ability to spot enemies is now exclusive to the sniper-focused Recon class by using the manual spotting scope or having the subclass perk to reveal enemies you fire upon.As impactful as Attrition sounds, it's not so overbearing as to drastically shake up Battlefield's core, though it does make going rogue less viable.Class roles and teamwork are further emphasized by the Attrition system, which encompasses the changes made to resource scarcity and scavenging and affects nearly every aspect of the game. The fact you're not given much ammo at spawn makes the Support class's ability to dole out ammo pouches clutch when you survive multiple firefights, while the Assault class has a perk that grants more ammo upon scavenging dead players. Surviving with the game's health system, which is partially auto-regenerating, relies on having a medkit on hand, which can only be distributed by Medics. As impactful as Attrition sounds, it's not so overbearing as to drastically shake up Battlefield's core, though it does make going rogue less viable.Another new mechanic introduced in Battlefield V is Fortifications, which consists of building predetermined structures within the environment--like sandbag walls, barbed wire coils, and Czech hedgehogs. There are no resources tied to your ability to construct them, though the Support class builds faster than other classes and can prop up things like stationary gun and supply crates in certain spots. Overall, fortifications feels a bit tacked on and inconsequential in some cases, but there's no denying their effectiveness in the right situation. Something as simple as improvised sandbags for a little cover can go a long way by turning a sitting duck into a well-positioned defender who can better hold down an objective when every other building's been reduced to rubble. The narrative dress-up is a nice touch, but the real reason Grand Operations works is because it keeps up the momentum from round to round and packages a variety of game modes into one long match, encouraging you to see it through.Above all else, Battlefield V truly shines in Grand Operations, a series of three consecutive matches (or rounds) intertwined by brief narrative bits inspired by WWII events. Each round, presented as one in-game day in the same theater of war, is a specific game mode, and teams can earn reinforcement bonuses for certain rounds depending on the outcome of the previous one. The narrative dress-up is a nice touch, but the real reason Grand Operations works is because it keeps up the momentum from round to round and packages a variety of game modes into one long match, encouraging you to see it through. The success of Grand Operations should be primarily accredited to the more focused, well-executed modes like Airborne, Frontlines, and Breakthrough. Frontlines in particular plays out like a tug-of-war; teams fight over varied objectives in sequential order within defined sections of a map, depending on the phase of the match. Teams will struggle to hold capture points in sequence to push the other back, and other phases may be demolition-style attack/defend skirmishes. The opportunity to push back a phase also makes it so you can regain ground if your back is against the wall; by the same token, you can't get too comfortable with a lead. These game types aren't entirely new; Frontlines was seen in Battlefield 1 DLC and borrows elements from Rush and Conquest, and Grand Operations is a variation--albeit improved--on the original Operations in Battlefield 1. However, the tools and mechanics built around Battlefield V along with how map dynamics shift at each phase make them an absolute thrill to play. It accentuates the best features of the map roster, and also makes the moment to moment firefights distinct since they're concentrated across different sections. The structure of modes like Frontlines naturally ushers a team's attention to a handful of clear objectives at a time and provides a method to the madness, creating a satisfying push-and-pull where success feels earned. As great as Grand Operations is, the series staple of Conquest has become the weakest link. This traditional mode has devolved into a match-long carousel of flag captures, easy kills, and cheap deaths. Maps like Twisted Steel and Arras function well enough for Conquest, but that leaves a majority of the eight available maps lacking. Narvik, Fjell 652, and Devastation feel too condensed and disjointed for the high player count and mechanics of Conquest; the action hardly ever stops, but cramming everyone together in compact, circular maps means you're often caught from behind or flanked by enemies that simply stumbled upon that fruitful opportunity. It goes both ways, as you'll frequently find yourself catching enemy squads with their backs turned because you lucked into a certain spawn and ran off in the right direction. The success of Grand Operations should be primarily accredited to the more focused, well-executed modes like Airborne, Frontlines, and Breakthrough.Battlefield V is also rough in spots. A few bugs are forgivable, like wild ragdoll physics, but some are more problematic. On rare occasions, the map goes blank when enlarging it, or health packs just don't work. Very rarely would you have to revive a squadmate by a door, but when this happens, you're likely to only get the prompt to interact with the door, leaving your friend to die. Thankfully, these issues are not enough to overshadow the game's best parts.Regardless of your preferred mode of play, you'll be earning XP for a number of separate progression paths. There's overall rank, class rank, individual weapon rank, and for good measure, each tank and plane has its own rank as well. There isn't a whole lot to unlock for weapons given the WWII setting, but leveling up weapon proficiencies lets you customize them to your play style, like choosing greater hip-fire accuracy, faster reload, quicker aim-down-sights, or less recoil in ADS. Various weapons and pieces of equipment (such as the spawning beacon for Recon or the anti-tank grenade for Assault) unlock as you rank up classes. It's a fairly sensible system, though the same can't be said about vehicle progression. Vehicles are tough to come by in Battlefield V as it is and since each one ranks separately, it takes an extra-concerted effort to level them up. There are some useful perks to obtain for vehicles that can provide a slight advantage, but it can be a struggle to acquire them. The structure of modes like Frontlines naturally ushers a team's attention to a handful of clear objectives at a time and provides a method to the madness, creating a satisfying push-and-pull where success feels earned.Aside from weapon skins, you'll customize each class's appearance for both Allies and Axis. It's the cosmetic aspect where you can fit yourself with different parts of uniforms, though it doesn't bear much fruit since this is a first-person game that moves so fast, even your enemies won't really notice the 'rare' uniform you're wearing. Cosmetic customization is also how Company Coins comes into play, the in-game currency that you earn through completing challenges (daily orders or assignments) or completing matches. Most cosmetics can be acquired with Company Coins, which can be a grind to earn. You should note that unlocking weapon and vehicle perks are also tied to Company Coins, but at least they are relatively low-cost. There are no microtransactions at the moment, but they are said to coming in the future, and for cosmetics only.Battlefield V isn't solely a multiplayer endeavor. War Stories returns as the single-player component that attempts to present a brutal conflict with a more earnest tone. The campaign highlights lesser-known parts of WWII, like the Norwegian resistance, and the Senegalese Tirailleurs who fought for the French Army amid racial discrimination. The effort is admirable, especially when it comes to the Tirailleur campaign as it sheds light on piece of history that has nearly been forgotten; the scale of Battlefield comes through and the story speaks to the horrors of war. Nordlys boils down to a mix of stealth and combat that casts you as a one-person army that's enjoyable at times, but doesn't go beyond lone-wolf skirmishes--at least it showcases some of the game's best setpieces. And the Under No Flag campaign for the English side is an eye-rolling series of tedious missions that goes for a lighthearted note; it doesn't stick the landing, however. War Stories has its moments but is all over the place in terms of design, tone, and style. The effort is admirable, especially when it comes to the Tirailleur campaign as it sheds light on piece of history that has nearly been forgotten.Currently, Battlefield V still has features to implement as part of its game-as-a-service approach (designated Tides of War), but there's enough to chew on for now given the quality of the better modes. It's an exciting prospect that there's more to come at no additional cost, but you can't help but feel that the launch package could've been a bit more dense considering there's only eight maps. Additional modes (including co-op), new maps, another Grand Operations mission, and the Firestorm battle royale mode will be rolling out intermittently between now and March 2019. All that could make for the most feature-rich game in the series; unfortunately, we won't be able to evaluate those parts of the game until they arrive. The Battlefield series has a winning formula that Battlefield V doesn't deviate far from, at least for now. Conquest and the map roster don't mesh well together, however, Grand Operations--and the other modes within it--steal the show and foster some of the greatest moments the franchise has offered. You might be surprised by the impact of the slight changes made for this entry, especially when you're deep into pushing or defending objectives in Frontlines alongside teammates fulfilling their roles. That's when Battlefield V is at its best.Info from Gamespot.com
