Fortnite dataminers are always digging up exciting details for those who don't mind the spoilers, and a recent find in the game's files has the Fortnite community wondering if something big is in store. Labeled the "Saturn_Test" within the game's PC files, dataminers have surfaced what may be our first look at a new game mode in Fortnite, including what looks like a revised art style for the cartoonish game. It's worth keeping in mind that while the hyperactive Fortnite dataminers are very reliable, content discovered from their efforts is never guaranteed to be used in-game.First picked up by iFireMonkey, two partial images, which when conjoined form a nearly full picture, indicate that Epic is at least toying with a reimagining of its ever-popular character skins. The "Saturn_Test" artwork depicts fan favorites such as Jonesy, Cuddle Team Leader, Fishstick, and Peely with a smaller stature, narrower shoulders, but maybe most importantly, character classes.Cuddle Team Leader appears to be the group's archer, Peely looks like a mage of some sort, Fishstick may be the squad's warrior, while Jonesy may be the rogue. The massive statue behind them is an unfamiliar asset too, so while one may think it's just a leak of forthcoming battle royale content, the special weapons in their hands suggest this could be an entirely new mode.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The main improvement of the Nintendo Switch OLED is in the name. The new Switch model, which releases October 8, has a 7-inch OLED display, which delivers more vivid colors and better contrast than the LCD displays of the standard Switch and Switch Lite. This is a fairly significant upgrade for those who favor playing in handheld mode, but you may also be wondering if the Switch OLED will be at risk for screen burn-in that can affect OLED devices. The short answer is that you shouldn't be too concerned about Switch burn-in. Still, it's not out of the realm of possibility. Will the Switch OLED have screen burn-in?Screen burn-in can happen to OLED displays over time as static images are displayed for lengthy durations. It can make parts of the image linger or create a ghosting effect. That said, it's not a common occurrence. Many of the most popular smartphones utilize OLED displays, and we'd wager that you haven't had this issue with your mobile device.Of course, it can't be guaranteed that isolated incidents of Switch OLED burn-in won't pop up after its release. Nintendo even said as much in a statement provided to GameSpot sister site CNET:Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Like an annual Call of Duty game or the eventual heat death of the sun, Team Fortress 2's popularity on PC is a constant truth. However, the game is starting to age, especially as things like ray tracing and 4K resolutions become more common. To help the game stave off old age just a bit longer, a team of modders are recreating the game in Valve's new Source 2 engine. The modding team, Amper Software, is "a passionate team that loves Team Fortress 2." The team started toying with the idea of recreating TF2 after another game, s&box, began releasing tools for the engine. While it's not clear if players will be able to play this new version of TF2, the team is dead set on recreating "the Team Fortress 2 experience in Source 2 using s&box, with many improvements to the base game, as well as creating a truly new unique Team fortress experience."To that end, Amper Software's team of 23 volunteers has been reworking every part of the classic team-based shooter, from its lighting and assets to its UI. So far, the team's results are impressive, remaking many of the game's iconic weapons with modern textures and lighting. Of particular note are the Soldier's rockets, which now light up the space around them as they zoom towards impact.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Otherwise, if you're looking to secure yourself a copy once the game releases in October, then be sure to check out our Back 4 Blood preorder guide.Coordinate Weapon Types With Your TeammatesWhile it's not the biggest deal on the lower Survivor difficulty, there are several reasons why it's beneficial to talk with your team and coordinate weapon loadouts. You can have teammates fill particular roles, such as a long-range sniper for picking off certain enemy types, an up-close shotgunner to protect the team, or an LMG user in charge of crowd control, to name a few. Ammo also becomes a concern as the difficulty increases, and picking different weapon types keeps players from having to worry about taking ammo away from teammates who might need it. Speaking of ammo, you can hold or drop ammo types you aren't using for your teammates when they need it. Consider your teammates your very own ammo pouch!Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Bandai Namco has confirmed that it will release a demo for Tales of Arise on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on August 18. Set in a world where the nation of Dahna was conquered by the technologically superior country of Rena and split into five realms, players will experience the story through the protagonists Iron Mask and Shionne. While Iron Mask is a Dahna slave who is unable to feel pain, Shionne is his polar opposite as a citizen of Rena cursed to zap anyone who comes into physical contact with her using magical lightning. Together, the two form an odd couple alliance as they strengthen their bonds in a brutal land ruled by tyrants. One of the bigger departures from previous games in the Tales series is a more action-orientated direction that's similar to Monster Hunter: World. Players are able to chain attacks and juggle enemies to deliver extra damage, as well as conservatively spend Care Points to overcome various obstacles and enemies. Some of the developers previously worked on Bandai Namco's Scarlet Nexus, with the influence from that action-RPG being seen in some of the gameplay footage above as well as the mixed-media approach to storytelling.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Of the various technological innovations in gaming over the last decade, ray-tracing has definitely been one of the most mind-blowing. Although we're probably a long way away from Nintendo officially supporting ray-tracing, one modder has found a way to get it running on an emulated version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild--and the results are unbelievable. As reported by Kotaku, German modder Digital Dreams created a ray-tracing preset with Reshade for the PC-emulated version of the game. They also bumped up draw distances and improved depth of field. As you can see in the embed below, Breath of the Wild running at 8K resolution with all these bells and whistles looks gorgeous. If you have a 4K (or better) monitor, we highly recommend putting this video in full screen, bumping up the resolution, and immersing yourself.Digital Dreams has found a niche in giving a new, ray-traced coat of paint to all sorts of games, from Crysis 3 to Just Cause 3. There's just something different about ray-tracing on a game that'll almost certainly never be officially released on a platform that natively supports the feature, though. Of course, it's worth saying that this PC version of the game is illegal, so user beware. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
