Less than one day after announcing its initial roster, All Elite Wrestling is creating some major waves in the world of professional wrestling, even causing some interesting changes within WWE. As GameSpot previously reported, former WWE superstar Chris Jericho signed with AEW, essentially making the new company his United States wrestling home.Almost immediately, WWE responded by moving the four-time World Champion's biography to the alumni section of its website. The most notable change came a couple hours later, though, when Smackdown Live went on the air. At the beginning of the broadcast, the WWE signature video package played, but Jericho's face was mysteriously absent.Jericho has appeared in numerous signature videos over the years and was still present when the short introductory clip that proclaims WWE is "then, now, and forever" the night before on Raw. However, as of the January 8 episode of Smackdown, he's been replaced by The Bar members Sheamus and Cesaro. The change was first noted by a Twitter user. The move makes sense on WWE's part, as this is the first time since his debut for the company in 1996 that he's signed to a group that could be seen as competition in the United States market. Thus far, his only real non-WWE wrestling appearances have been for New Japan Pro Wrestling and as part of his own Rock and Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise. Now that he's, in his own words, signed to AEW "for the long haul," WWE distancing themselves from him and instead promoting an act they have under contract is logical. However, it just goes to show how interesting professional wrestling is becoming.Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, who launched AEW with Jacksonville Jaguars owners Tony Khan and Shahid Khan, have repeatedly said they want to change the world of professional wrestling. While overtaking WWE and becoming the biggest pro wrestling company on the planet might be impossible, with names like Jericho on the roster and the promise of an equal scale of pay for male and female performers, they're certainly giving it their all. What remains to be seen is how the product will be presented. While the first major show--Double of Nothing on May 25--has been announced, AEW has yet to mention whether they have any sort of deal in place to distribute regular programming. Of course, the company could always go the same route Cody and the Bucks have used in the past. Their All In pay-per-view was available via streaming, with a pre-show that aired on WGN America.Info from Gamespot.com

Ubisoft has announced the PC version of The Division 2 will release solely on the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store. So, unlike the original The Division, Ubisoft's upcoming third-person shooter is skipping out on releasing on Steam. This won't be the only Ubisoft title that Epic steals away from Steam either. In a blog post, Epic revealed that it is partnering with Ubisoft "on additional select titles." Those games have not yet been announced, but Epic did tease that information would come out "during the coming year." Epic and Ubisoft's partnership might set a new precedent for major developers picking one PC game store over others, changing the PC gaming landscape to more closely reflect the scramble for first-party exclusives seen on consoles.Ubisoft previously released the system requirements for the PC version of The Division 2, revealing the different specifications you'll need to run the game at bare minimum, recommended, high, and elite performance. Epic also secured several exclusives right out of the gate, such as Hades and the PC version of Journey, and then went on to nab other PC games expected to launch on Steam, like the latter half of The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Discord has also announced its store will offer developers a more lucrative cut of their games' profits in comparison to both Steam and Epic, and is working on securing additional exclusive titles of its own as well. The Division 2 also releases for Xbox One and PS4, and is scheduled to launch on March 15.Info from Gamespot.com

Though it's still freezing outside, Sony's holiday season heated up the competition, selling more than 90 million PS4s as of December 31. In addition to being the fourth best-selling console of all time--currently behind the Wii, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2--Sony has announced that Insomniac Games' Spider-Man has sold 9 million units digitally and physically as of November 25. To shed more light on the rest of the company's stellar holiday season, Sony has released an official list of its top downloads for December 2018.Leading the pack of PlayStation 4 games is PUBG Corporation's battle royale title PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, which launched on December 7. Following that is Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 which has its own battle royale mode, Blackout. In third is Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V, a game that released during the last console generation and is still, ostensibly, making the studio a lot of money.Moving over to PlayStation VR, it's Beat Games' Beat Saber on top. Second to the lightsaber rhythm game is Owlchemy Labs'Job Simulator, a game that released nearly three years ago. Placing in third is SIE London Studio's PlayStation VR Worlds, a compilation of games Sony released alongside the company's virtual reality headset back in October 2016.On the free-to-play side of the PlayStation Store is, of course, Epic Games' Fortnite--no surprise there. Taking the second spot is Crytek Kiev's Warface. Following in third is yet another battle royale game, Daybreak Game Company's H1Z1: Battle Royale.Though Sony's finally putting the PS Vita to rest by discontinuing production of the console's physical games, the system still sold an approximate 15 million units in its lifetime. As such, Sony decided to document the top games the handheld sold in December. In front is SIE Santa Monica Studio's God of War Collection. Following in second is Mass Media Games' Jak and Daxter Collection. In third is Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Edition. The list also includes the top December downloads for PS4 themes and PS Classic titles. The new movie adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel series Dune continues to take shape. Following the news earlier this week that Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista will star as the villainous "Beast" Rabban, it has been reported that Thor actor Stellan Skarsgård will take on the key villain role of Rabban's uncle, Baron Harkonen.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Skarsgård joins Timothy Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), who plays main character Paul Atreides, and Mission Impossible star Rebecca Ferguson in the movie. Skargaard is best known for his role of Eric Selvig in several Marvel movies, including Thor and The Avengers, and as Bootstrap Bill in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. He is also the father of actors Alexander and Bill Skarsgård.Dune does not yet have a set a release date, but it will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, who previously helmed Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival. The multi-book series was written by Frank Herbert, and the first volume was published in 1965. The movie was first announced in February 2017, when Herbert's son Brian suggested that it could be the first part in a series of films.Dune was previously adapted for the big screen in 1984. The lavish movie was directed by David Lynch and starred Kyle McLachlan, Patrick Stewart, and Sting. While it was a commercial failure, it has since gained a cult reputation. The Sci-fi Channel (since re-branded Syfy) also produced a Dune mini-series in the early 2000s. There have been other unsuccessful attempts to get a new movie version off the ground, most recently with Patriots Day director Peter Berg at the helm.Info from Gamespot.com

The start of a new month means the release of some new games. At CES 2019, AMD president and CEO Lisa Su announced the world's first 7nm gaming GPU, titled the Radeon VII. According to CNET, Su claims it's the most powerful gaming GPU the company has ever built.AMD displayed the Radeon VII's technical prowess at CES, demoing Devil May Cry 5. Su said the game was running "well above" 60 frames per second at 4K resolution. She also mentioned that in comparison to AMD's Vega 64, most games on average get a 25 percent performance boost on the Radeon VII. Certain titles, such as Battlefield V, can receive as high as a 35 percent increase. The Radeon VII will have 16 gigabytes of high-performance memory and one terabyte a second bandwidthThe Radeon VII is scheduled to release February 7 and cost $700. The gaming GPU comes bundled with the remake of Resident Evil 2, The Division 2, and Devil May Cry 5.There's been plenty of announcements coming out of CES this year. Nvidia announced a new video card called the GeForce RTX 2060. HTC had a slew of reveals for its Vive VR products, including a new Viveport subscription model, an upcoming virtual reality social space, and two headsets--Pro Eye and Cosmos. Samsung unveiled two new TVs: one of which the company hopes can flagship a 2019 promotion for MicroLED screens, and another that is so large that it's about the size of an average living room. LG showcased a new TV as well, one that can roll up and be stored away when it's not in use.All three games that come bundled with the Radeon VII come out early this year. The remake of Resident Evil 2 is the only game scheduled to release prior to the gaming GPU though. It launches on January 25 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The Division 2 and Devil May Cry 5 are coming to the same three systems, with the former scheduled for March 12 and the latter for March 8. So even if you buy the Radeon VII day one, you'll still need to wait on two of the games that come with it.Info from Gamespot.com

Nintendo has revealed the next in-game event for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While previous ones have been themed around certain kinds of Spirits, this week's event will give players a chance to earn some extra bonuses. The Double XP and SP event kicks off on January 10 at 10 PM PT (1 AM ET / 6 AM GMT on January 11) and runs for the usual three days, concluding at the same time on January 13-14. During the event, you'll earn twice the normal amount of Spirit experience and Spirit Points when you participate in Spirit Board matches. In contrast to the game's previous events, it doesn't appear that any particular Spirits will pop up more frequently on the Spirit Board during Double XP and SP, but the event does provide a good opportunity to power up your own Spirits quickly.Nintendo has been holding in-game events in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on a weekly basis, though up until now, all of these have revolved around certain kinds of Spirits. Last week's event featured old-school video game characters such as the Balloon Fighter and Sukapon, while December's Mario Time event introduced a handful of exclusive Super Mario Party Spirits.Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launched for Switch on December 7 and has been a big critical and commercial success for Nintendo, quickly becoming the fastest-selling installment in the series' history. The title was also the best-selling video game on Amazon in 2018 despite launching near the end of the year.In other Switch news, Nintendo recently announced a release date for Yoshi's Crafted World. The adorable platformer launches exclusively for the hybrid console on March 29. The company also confirmed this month's additions to Nintendo Switch Online's NES library: Blaster Master and Zelda II, which join the service on January 16.Info from Gamespot.com

Activision Blizzard has announced a variety of reshuffled executive positions, which collectively reshape the company's leadership structure. Each of the new roles is being filled by senior executives with the company, and the company included a brief moment of back-patting for its Call of Duty series in the announcement. In the press release detailing the new roles, Activision mentioned that Call of Duty has generated more lifetime revenue than the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and doubled the cumulative box office of the entire Star Wars series. Take those comparisons with a grain of salt given that new video games cost roughly six times as much as a movie ticket, but it's still an impressive comparison to show the scale of the franchise.Rob Kostich, formerly the Call of Duty executive VP and general manager, has been named the new company president. King Digital CFO and CSO Humam Sakhnini has been named president of that unit. Finally, Dennis Durkin is remaining in his role as CFO and adding a new title: President of Activision Blizzard's Emerging Businesses. The announcement also notes that, as previously announced, J. Allen Brack will continue to serve as the new president of Blizzzard Entertainment. This comes shortly after some other shake-ups among Activision Blizzard's senior management. Activision's CFO was recently fired, and he joined Netflix. Then Blizzard's CFO left to work at the mobile payment company Square. According to SEC documents, former Blizzard president Mike Morhaime will serve his last day as an advisor on April 7, 2019.Kostich has shepherded the Call of Duty series through some big changes, most recently overseeing the series' first entry to remove a single-player campaign entirely. Black Ops 4 focusing strictly on the multiplayer aspects, with the addition of a new battle royale mode, was potentially controversial. The game doesn't seem to have suffered for it, though, as our own GameSpot review noted that the strength of the three multiplayer pillars make it hard to miss the campaign content.Info from Gamespot.com

Destiny 2's latest expansion, Black Armory, was set to wrap up with the release of the fourth and final forge--the Bergusia Forge--this week. Before that happened, a group of hardcore players and streamers attempted to dissect a complex in-game puzzle involving Niobe Labs. Once they solved the puzzle, the forge would unlock for all DLC owners. But after more than 24 hours of attempts have not yet yielded a complete solution, Bungie is opting to simply unlock the forge while keeping the puzzle going on the side. [Update: The Bergusia Forge is now unlocked, although there appears to still be some legwork involved before you can actually jump in.]The Bergusia Forge will unlock today, January 9, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT, Bungie announced on its website. "While coming together as a community to solve puzzles can be fun, setting this puzzle up as a gate between you and new content that you want to play has not been an ideal experience," the studio admitted. "As such, we will be decoupling the puzzle from the final offering of the Black Armory. All Annual Pass owners will be able to experience the Bergusia Forge when the puzzle is solved or when the deadline expires--whichever happens first."This doesn't mean the puzzle is being removed or solved for players. Those who care to continue--and there has been a small but dedicated group spending more than a day attempting to crack the mystery--can do so, and there's both a Ghost and emblem available to those who complete the challenge. But Bungie has conceded that this current arrangement had to come to an end."We love trying new things with Destiny, but we're also flexible enough to pivot when you point out room for improvement," it said. "We'll continue to monitor the conversation about this event and learn from your feedback as we create future content releases."This is not the first instance of complaints involving the Black Armory DLC. The first of the four forges had a higher-than-expected Power level requirement, forcing players to grind through existing content on the day of its release in order to be able to take part in the new activity. In that case, Bungie again made changes after a day. While this forge marks the final major addition of the Black Armory, there is still more content to come as part of the Annual Pass. we don't yet know everything that's coming, but Bungie has outlined extensive plans for new content and changes, both free and paid, in the months to come.Info from Gamespot.com

Following its CES 2019 announcement of the Radeon VII GPU, AMD unveiled its third generation of Ryzen desktop processor. The new Ryzen isn't scheduled to launch until mid-2019, but it will support the Radeon VII.According to CNET, AMD demoed the new Ryzen during the company's CES keynote presentation. Using the new Radeon VII, the Ryzen played Forza Horizon 4 with a consistent 100 frames per second at 1080p. "This system is the most advanced PC gaming hardware in the world, together in one system--third gen Ryzen, [and] Radeon VII," said AMD president and CEO Lisa Su. During CNET's CES coverage, they saw the new Ryzen go up against and slightly outperform the Intel i9-9900K on a Cinebench multicore test. Both CPUs performed similarly, but Ryzen used much less power. The Radeon VII is the world's first 7nm gaming GPU, which Su claims to be the most powerful GPU that AMD has ever built. At CES, Su demonstrated how Devil May Cry 5 would play on the Radeon VII, which she explained runs "well above" 60 frames per second at 4K resolution. In comparison to AMD's previously most powerful GPU, the Vega 64, the Radeon VII runs most games with an average 25 percent performance boost. Some games see even greater improvements, such as Battlefield V, which receives a 35 percent boost.AMD's Radeon VII is scheduled to release February 7 and cost $700, but it also comes bundled with the remake of Resident Evil 2, The Division 2, and Devil May Cry 5. No exact date has been announced for the third generation Ryzen CPU, nor a price point. Also during CES 2019, Nvidia announced a new video card, the GeForce RTX 2060. HTC announced several new reveals for its Vive VR products as well, including two headsets--Pro Eye and Cosmos. While Game Freak is known primarily as the developer behind the mainline Pokemon series, the studio occasionally releases titles outside of its usual wheelhouse. One such example is Giga Wrecker, a stylish side-scrolling platformer available for PC via Steam, and now it appears the game is coming to home consoles as well.A rating for Giga Wrecker Alt has been filed by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee (via Gematsu). According to the filing, the game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with Rising Star Games listed as the publisher.Rising Star and Game Freak have yet to officially confirm if Giga Wrecker is indeed coming to consoles, although it isn't uncommon for unannounced games to be outed by ratings boards. The addition of "Alt" to the title also suggests the game will boast some form of new content, although this likewise has yet to be confirmed.Giga Wrecker first launched for Steam in 2017. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by an army of robots, with players cast in the role of Reika, a girl with the power to control debris. Using this ability, she must manipulate the rubble littering the world to solve environmental puzzles and defeat enemies. You can watch the launch trailer for the original Steam version above.Game Freak has another non-Pokemon game in the works for Switch: the tentatively titled Town. The game was unveiled last September during a Nintendo Direct presentation. Details about it are scant, but the entire adventure unfolds within a once-peaceful town that is being beset by monsters. A "core" Pokemon RPG is also slated to release for Switch this year.Info from Gamespot.com

Although the popular Star Wars Rebels finished last year, fans of the franchise's animated output still have much to look forward to. A new season of the much-loved Clones Wars is being made for Disney's new streaming service, Disney+, and ahead of that, we have the return of Star Wars Resistance this month. A new trailer for the second half of Season 1 has now been released.Resistance is set before the movie The Force Awakens, and focuses on a young pilot named Kaz, who is recruited by the Resistance to take on a top-secret mission to infiltrate the First Order. This new trailer reveals that the upcoming episodes will contain various links to The Force Awakens, with a reference to Starkiller Base and appearances from General Leia, Poe Dameron, General Hux, and shots of Kylo Ren's shuttle. Check it out below:Star Wars Resistance returns to the Disney Channel on January 13. The studio has also confirmed that the show will return for a second season.Resistance was created by Dave Filoni, who oversaw both Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. When it was first announced last year, Filoni spoke about his inspirations. "The idea for [the show] came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots," he said. "My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that's been a big influence on me. There's a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we've captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time."As for The Clone Wars, Season 7 will premiere on Disney+, and will also be overseen by Filoni. The show seemingly ended with a short sixth season on Netflix in 2014, with many of the storylines incomplete.Filoni will also direct an episode of The Mandalorian, the live-action Star Wars show that is currently in production and is also set to premiere on Disney+. The show is being produced by Jungle Book director Jon Favreau, and other directors include Thor Ragnarok's Taika Waititi and Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard. None of these shows have a release date, but Disney+ is expected to launch later this year.Info from Gamespot.com
