The February 25 episode of WWE's Raw began as an emotional one. Roman Reigns kicked off the show by announcing his cancer was in remission. Then, it was business as usual as Raw heavily promoted that it was Ric Flair's 70th birthday, and there was going to be a huge celebration. Patiently, the WWE Universe waited, and all the time we forgot we were watching wrestling and of course, this celebration was not going to go as planned. The stage was set to honor WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, as the entrance ramp was surrounded by current WWE superstars, and in the ring were other Hall of Famers and legends. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon revealed a special, custom championship title for Flair. Wow, this is going to be one heck of a celebration. Nothing could go wrong, right? If you're new to the world of wrestling, you were probably in for quite a shock as something did, in fact, go wrong with this celebration, which you can see in the video above. You see, Flair never came to the ring. As the cameras cut to the backstage area, we saw former WWE star and current Guardian of the Galaxy, Batista, dragging a camera man to the dressing room for Flair. The actor who plays Drax eventually came out with a beaten-up Nature Boy, dragging him across the floor."Hey Hunter," exclaimed Batista. "Do I have your attention now? HUH?!" Triple H ran backstage, but Batista was already gone. Obviously, this is all setting up a Wrestlemania match between Triple H and Batista, and you don't need "inside info" from WWE to see that. Can we back it up for a second though? Before Batista laid the Smackdown® on Flair, the Nature Boy was already late to his own celebration. In fact, he hadn't even left the dressing room yet to go to the ring. So everyone is waiting for Flair, and he's just hanging out in his dressing room? I know "fashionably late" is a thing, but come on. Or did Batista beat him up in his own dressing room, then run out to grab the cameraman? If so, why did Batista make the cameraman wait outside and slam the door when he was grabbing Flair out of the dressing room? Am I thinking way too hard about this? Yes.During Smackdown 1000 last October, there was a reunion of the wrestling stable Evolution, which consisted of Ric Flair, Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista. When Batista got on the mic during the Evolution segment, he took a little dig at Triple H. "There is nothing... NOTHING this man hasn't done in this business," Batista said, before living in an emotional beat. "Except beat me." And that right there is the moment where WWE fans knew something was coming down the pipeline. However, being that it happened four months ago, we had already forgotten about it, but it was the catalyst for what is obviously coming, a Wrestlemania match, where Triple H will have a ridiculous, yet exceptionally awesome, entrance to the ring. As much as I tend to complain about returning wrestlers getting random Mania spots, I'm very excited about this one.And yes, in the world of WWE, nothing goes as planned. Contract signings end with someone beaten up, weddings are interrupted and ruined by jerks, and private, backstage meetings always end up with someone getting thrown into a giant box on wheels. And I can't tell you how many times in my real life I've done something stupid like this because of my love of wrestling. I know Senior Editor Mike Rougeau is still in a lot of pain after I chokeslammed him through a table during my last contract signing for GameSpot--I'm not sorry. It's all just payback for the time he superkicked me during the middle of my wedding. This is how wrestling works, and I'd have it no other way.Expect the Batista vs. Triple H story to brew and simmer for the next few weeks, and it will probably include Batista showing up at Fastlane, the Puddle of Mudd of WWE PPVs. Don't expect, however, this story to further itself on Smackdown, as that series already has plenty of strong storylines to work on. Wrestlemania is happening on April 7 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Info from Gamespot.com

With its start coming later this week, Epic Games has dropped another teaser for what awaits in Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 8. In keeping with the previous two, this teaser comes in the form of a short, cryptic poem, which is accompanied by an image--and this one may reveal a new skin coming next season."Awaken beasts / Of fire and ash / Battle it out / And loot the stash," the poem reads, further reinforcing the pirate theme hinted at in Epic's previous Season 8 teasers. The accompanying image, meanwhile, features a fearsome-looking tiger head in the background--presumably part of a new skin the developer is introducing to the game.Awaken beastsOf fire and ashBattle it out And loot the stash. 2 days to Season 8. pic.twitter.com/rdMrhYbZ1S — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) February 26, 2019The previous two teasers thus far have suggested Season 8 will have a pirate theme, with references to treasure and "those who arrive on the waves," although it's unclear how this will translate to gameplay. Interestingly, when all of the teasers are combined, they form one large image of a skull, as pointed out below. Wednesday will likely bring another teaser to complete this before the season gets underway.Fortnite Season 8 teaser image updated. You can see what's probably the final battle pass skin. pic.twitter.com/fhTg2QpZlm — James Jarvis (@James_Jarvis) February 26, 2019Epic has confirmed that Season 8's start date is February 28, which means you have until then to complete any remaining Season 7 challenges. As an added incentive to do so, the developer is giving the Season 8 Battle Pass for free to players who finish Season 7's Overtime challenges. The Battle Pass typically costs 950 V-Bucks, so this is a good opportunity to get it without have to spend any money. In the lead up to Season 8, earthquakes have been occurring in the game. These first started following the release of the 7.30 update earlier this month, and they've been growing in intensity since, so much so that cracks are now appearing in the island. What this portends for next season remains to be seen, but it'll presumably lead to some significant changes to the map.Info from Gamespot.com

World War II was a global tragedy. There was no victory without a substantial defeat of one kind or another, and for countries like Poland that got caught in the crossfire, nearly all was lost before the dust settled. Warsaw is an upcoming strategy game that looks at one of the darkest chapters in Poland's WWII story. It won't have a happy ending--developer Pixelated Milk doesn't want to rewrite history. Instead, it wants to shine a light on the heroes that did everything they could to take back their embattled homeland, while also recognizing the ramifications of attempting the impossible.Pixelated Milk says Warsaw will focus on a substantial cast of rebels--heroes that must bear the weight of their plight while simultaneously trying to stand tall in battle. Judging by the short clips and teasers we've seen, combat bears a strong resemblance to Darkest Dungeon--a game the team doesn't shy away from acknowledging as an inspiration. "No coincidences here," they say."The art style was chiefly inspired by the works of Mike Mignola and his awesome Hellboy series. One of the goals of the artwork was to reflect the innate seriousness of the topic without compromising the overall visual accessibility, and we felt that drawing upon Mignola’s art would help achieve that."Outside of battle you will manage your squad and monitor the ongoing efforts in various city districts, carefully dedicating your attention to where it's needed most. "As districts provide valuable resources for the Uprising," says Pixelated Milk, "it is up to player to decide what is and what isn't worth saving."The game is divided into three major parts/segments: the squad's hideout, the city patrols, and the resulting combat in enemy encounters. We believe most of the time will be spent during the combat encounters but each undertaken mission presents opportunities to delve deeper into the everyday reality of the Uprising through interspersed events and mini-adventures."The resistance fighters you meet will come from different walks of life, and with different connections to the Uprising. "For example," Pixelated Milk explains, "we have Kazimierz, the street-hustling vendor who considers the Uprising bad for business, but feels roped into active participation due to his unsafe connections with the Polish underground. On the other end of the spectrum, we have Krzysztof, a hothead youth who has joined the fight for idealistic reasons, but the same idealistic fervor makes him hard to work with within the organization. At the end of the day, none of these people are heroes--or villains--but just that: people."They may not start out heroes, but at one point or another they will have to fight. Diving into the finer details of combat, Pixelated Milk says "the game’s four primary combat mechanics revolve around balancing activations, stamina, positioning, and ammunition. Across all the weapon classes--all based on weapons historically used--there are quite a lot of different weapon-specific skills that add to the mix. So with enough time, practice, and getting to know which characters, weapons, and skills work best you will have a better chance to face the challenges ahead."Because every fighter is a key character with a backstory and a unique skill set, when they die in battle, you'll lose not only a close ally, but every advantage they brought to your squad. And according to the developer, side quests "may also present dangers--risks that may be mitigated with successful skill checks... or exacerbated dramatically on failure."Warsaw is an attempt to create something unorthodox about a topic that traditionally does not translate very well into a video game format, and one that remains rather obscure to the world outside our home country of Poland." Fear and loss are cited as key themes, but so too are camaraderie and devotion. If the cinematic teaser above is anything to go by, Warsaw won't pull any punches when they all come to a head.Pixelated Milk's Warsaw is heading to PC, PS4, and Switch later this year, and will be publicly playable for the first time at PAX East from March 28-31. To keep up with the game's ongoing development, keep an eye on the official @warsawthegame Twitter account. Info from Gamespot.com

The continually evolving Path of Exile will finally see the release of the long-awaited PS4 edition later in March. Intended to be released following the launch of the last expansion, Betrayal, in December, the game was abruptly delayed prior to its planned launch. During a recent chat with Path of Exile's managing director Chris Wilson, he offered an update on the PS4 edition, and why developer Grinding Gear Games chose to delay it.As it turned out, the developers held back the PS4 release to give it some extra time. According to Wilson, the game was in solid shape, but the team felt it could be improved. Due to the lengthy process to authorize the game for release, the PS4 version will now have its launch in March--final date still pending. At its debut, the newest console release will have all present DLC available, which includes Synthesis."It really feels like we're completing the cycle with platforms for Path of Exile," said Wilson. "We wished we could have gotten on consoles earlier, but our resources were pretty limited at the time. Thankfully we were able to get them done. It's been really useful [not releasing the PS4 in December]. It would have been OK to have released it then, but we do want first-impressions to be good and there were certain areas of the game we weren't happy with. We wanted to tighten it up."In addition to our talk about the PS4 release, he also went into detail about what's to come with the game's next update Synthesis, which adds a brand-new league to the game, along with a substantial rebalance to the game's magic and skill system. If you want a clear idea of what's to come with the Synthesis expansion, we breakdown all the new updates and rebalancing that's to come with the new expansion, and how things get weird once you start exploring the dreamscape and its shifting memory clusters. For more on Path of Exile, including when exactly you can play the PS4 release, be sure to visit GameSpot in the weeks ahead. It's the last week of Destiny 2's Season of the Forge, and everything to do with The Black Armory is done. It's a good time to wrap up loose ends before the Season of the Drifter starts on March 5. There's a triple Infamy event going on for Gambit players, and as always there's also the Dreaming City's Ascendant Challenge for players who still want Powerful gear drops to drive their level up to the Season of the Forge's cap of 650.This week, the curse has been reset in the Dreaming City, which means the Shattered Throne dungeon is no longer available--a bummer for anybody who needs to finish it to unlock Izanagi's Burden from The Black Armory. It also brings us back to Week 2's challenge, which is available for one more day before Tuesday's weekly reset. Below, you'll find a complete guide on where you need to go and what to do to complete this week's bounty to earn Powerful gear. The Ascendant Challenge always involves you heading through a portal to the Ascendant Plane, but the particulars of what you're doing are entirely different from week to week. To start out, you'll need a consumable item called the Tincture of Queensfoil. With a Tincture in hand, make your way to the Garden of Esila area near the southernmost point of the map, as seen in the image below. Consuming the Tincture will provide you with the Ascendance buff that allows to see a Taken portal that's somewhat hidden on a cliffside. Jump in, and you'll be teleported to the Ascendant Plane's Forfeit Shrine.Once you're there, you'll have to fend off Taken--or just avoid them--while trying to secure three Arc Charges around the area. Once you pick one up, head toward the center starting area, near the giant Blight ball. Walk into the bright point at the bottom to dunk the charge you're holding. Repeat the process two more times and you'll receive an endless supply of Super energy that will help you to kill all of the remaining Taken in the area. Once they're dealt with, you can complete the bounty (netting you Dark Fragments and Powerful gear) and open a chest.Given that the bounty (not the chest) offers Powerful gear--a reliable way of increasing your Power level--this is an activity you'll definitely want to take part in once you're able. But bear in mind it is a challenge, so be sure to come prepared. It can be done solo, but having multiple teammates to grab charges and draw the enemies' attention can help immensely.Meanwhile, if you're hunting still hunting gear in The Black Armory, be sure to check out our guides to getting Izanagi's Burden and the Jotunn fusion rifle. Also, don't bother collecting Powerful gear bounties to turn in next week when the new season starts--Bungie is dropping an update that changes things so you can stockpile gear drops for a big boost as soon as the level cap rises. You'll have to play through Season of the Drifter content like everyone else to raise your level to the new cap.Info from Gamespot.com

Nothing is set in stone just yet, but word around the campfire is that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be taking on the iconic role of Candyman in the 2020 sequel, produced by Jordan Peele.Abdul-Mateen II is currently in talks to star in the upcoming movie, according to Variety. The actor is most recently known for his portrayal of Black Manta in Aquaman. The movie will be directed by Nia DaCosta, best known for her 2018 film Little Woods. The next installment of Candyman is not a reboot, but considered more of a spiritual sequel. It will center around the same place as the original film, Cabrini-Green, the notorious Chicago housing project which was widely considered to be one of the most dangerous places in the city during the early '90s. However, since then, the projects have been torn down, and the area has been gentrified. Where the projects once stood is a park, expensive town homes, and a Target. Modern day Cabrini-Green will be the centerpiece for the next movie."[Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and DaCosta] have created a story that will not only pay reverence to Clive Barker's haunting and brilliant source material, but is also thoroughly modern and will bring in a whole new generation of fans," said MGM Motion Picture Group president Jonathan Glickman (via Variety). The original film followed a graduate student investigating a local legend and myth surrounding "Candyman," a game like Bloody Mary where people say a name into a mirror. Then, they end up dead.Candyman's production is expected to begin next sping, with the movie hitting theaters on June 12, 2020.Info from Gamespot.com

Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Direct focusing on Pokemon. The presentation falls very conspicuously on Pokemon Day, February 27, the annual celebration marking the release of the very first Pokemon game. That paired with the previous announcement that the next big generation of Pokemon is set for release on Nintendo Switch this year means we can expect big things--but maybe not quite everything.Nintendo Direct DetailsThe Nintendo Direct presentation will begin on February 27 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM GMT (1 AM AET on February 28). The annnouncement promised "roughly seven minutes of new information." You can watch the stream right here on GameSpot. What Can We Expect?Seven minutes isn't much, but Nintendo can pack a lot into a Nintendo Direct presentation. For example, the most recent Nintendo Direct that aired on February 13 was about 35 minutes and covered new information or announcements about roughly 20 games. It was tightly packed, giving less than two minutes apiece to its two biggest announcements: Super Mario Maker 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. By comparison, seven minutes focusing on a single franchise is quite a bit of time. The next Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch has already been announced as coming in the latter half of 2019. Last year's Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee were announced alongside the 2019 release date. While they were well-received, the timing of their announcement left many fans to assume they were a stopgap measure in the meantime. There is a chance Nintendo will devote some time to a smaller surprise-release like Pokemon Picross, but it's safe to assume that the presentation will at least begin to unwrap Generation 8, the next full iteration of Pokemon.Just how much it will show of Gen 8 is difficult to tell, however. When Nintendo debuted Pokemon X and Y, its first trailer showed the three starters and quite a bit of footage showing off the new fully rendered 3D graphics for the 3DS. When it came time to show off Sun and Moon, however, it kicked off the Pokemon Day festivities with a teaser trailer that celebrated the history of the series, and gave the names of the upcoming games, but showed absolutely no footage. The closest fans got were brief snippets of sketches. The release date trailer, which didn't release until the following May, finally showed environments and the three starters. That teaser-trailer for Sun and Moon was largely regarded as disappointing, and came before Nintendo had established a reputation for presenting lengthy deep-dives into games as Nintendo Direct presentations. The teaser for this year's presentation also shows three Pokeballs, arranged in a manner similar to when players choose their starter in each game.It seems likely, then, that Nintendo will learn from past mistakes and show off some of the Pokemon waiting in Gen 8, most likely the three starters. We may also hear what this set of games will be titled, and a release date. There is some chance that Nintendo plays its cards extremely close to the vest and shows nothing but a very vague tease, but it's hard to imagine how that would fill seven minutes of its usually fast-paced Nintendo Direct style. Either way, we'll know soon enough. For more on Pokemon 2019, check out our roundup of what we'd like to see. Plus, if you're a connoisseur of fine cinema, you should definitely watch the latest trailer for future Academy Award winning film Detective Pikachu, and check out all the new Pokemon we spotted.Info from Gamespot.com

Following a tease and then a story trailer, Blizzard has officially taken the wraps off the 30th hero in Overwatch, named Baptiste. As part of a new update, he's playable on the PC version's Public Test Realm now.As detailed in his origin story, Baptiste is a combat medic who joined the mercenary group Talon due to a lack of other career opportunities, but he abandoned them and has been wandering the world trying to help people ever since. In Overwatch, that do-gooding involves a variety of experimental equipment and a mixture of solid offense and defensive tools. As a support class, he's great at keeping his allies alive and buffing them at key moments.Baptiste's primary weapon is the Biotic Launcher, a three-round burst rifle. His secondary fire heals allies near the blast area. His Exo Boots let him jump extra-high by charging first in a crouch. He can trigger a Regenerative Burst that heals himself and nearby allies. His Immortality Field deploys a device that keeps all allies from dying (or dropping below 20% health) for a set time, as long as the device itself isn't destroyed. Finally, Baptiste's Ultimate ability is called the Amplification Matrix. It creates a window-like field that doubles any damage or healing effects from your allies' projectiles. As long as you aim it well and coordinate with your team, you can turn some standard abilities and attacks into extra-deadly ones.As noted above, Baptiste is now live on the PTR, the servers where the company puts new heroes and maps through their paces before public release. Access to the PTR is free for owners of the PC game, though, so you can try him out by selecting "PTR: Overwatch" from the region select menu in the Battle.net client. Or, you can just wait for him to become available publicly on all platforms. As detailed in the patch notes, the update also makes changes to a variety of other characters, such as ending Widowmaker's ultimate when she dies, but making it so that it reveals enemies' health in addition to their position.Info from Gamespot.com

Overwatch's new hero, Baptiste, brings the roster up to 30 playable characters. Blizzard doesn't plan to stop developing new characters and has several concepts in the works already. But the studio has toyed with the idea of using tools like hero rotation or bans to help manage the roster if it grows too unwieldy."We have a bunch of heroes that we're playing with, a bunch of ideas, a bunch of gameplay concepts," lead hero designer Geoff Goodman said during a Q&A with media attended by GameSpot. "As long as people are playing Overwatch we're looking at adding content to it."That may eventually lead to a roster that's simply too big to be manageable. Though the company has no immediate plans to implement fixes for this hypothetical problem, it has considered a few options of how it could mitigate such an issue."We talk a decent amount about [rotating heroes]--that, and what's paired a lot with it is hero bans, hero picks, things like that because they're both kind of related to roster size," Goodman said. "We don't have any plans about that right now. It does come up in conversation. If we get a big enough roster that we feel like we would benefit from that, or maybe each competitive season we could do something like that. We sort of idly talk about it; we don't have any plans. Right now we don't feel like we're at the point where we have enough heroes where that seems to make sense. But if we reach a point that it just feels like too many then yeah, we might do something like that."Baptiste is now available on the PC test server, and will roll out to public servers and other platforms sometime soon. He's a combat medic with a three-round burst rifle, and he can lay down a field that makes all allies within it unable to be killed for a short time. His Ultimate ability puts up a window-like structure that amplifies allies' projectile damage or healing that passes through it.Info from Gamespot.com

Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has announced via Twitter that another two titles are now Xbox One backwards compatible. If you happened to own an Xbox 360, you'll probably recognize both as Xbox Live Arcade titles. The first title, Hydrophobia, is a survival adventure game first released in 2010 for Xbox 360 before making its way onto PC and PS3 the following year. The game takes place on a massive ocean vessel where the wealthy elite can live in comfort while the rest of the world suffers from overpopulation. You play as Kate Wilson, an engineer aboard the vessel who must reluctantly become its savior after a terrorist attack leaves the ship susceptible to flooding. In our Hydrophobia review, we criticized the game's "poor dialogue and voice acting, as well as stereotypical supporting characters" but praised the "impressive" water visuals and "tense atmosphere."The second game, Marathon: Durandal, is the 2007 Xbox 360 port of Marathon 2: Durandal, a first-person shooter made by Bungie that first released on PC in 1995. Durandal puts you in the shoes of a security officer who must search the ruins of an alien civilization on another world in search of something that will help stall an invasion of Earth. The Xbox 360 version of the game supports four-player splitscreen and eight-player co-op over Xbox Live. In our Marathon: Durandal review, we remarked how even back in 2007, the game "really shows its age" but it's still interesting to play as "the spiritual predecessor to [Halo: Combat Evolved]."Last week, four more games were added to the full list of Xbox One backwards compatible titles. For both Hydrophobia and Marathon: Durandal, you'll need to already own or buy their digital versions from the Xbox Live marketplace to play them. However, for backwards compatible Xbox and Xbox 360 games that have a physical version--of which these are our favorites--you can use their original disc in your Xbox One.Info from Gamespot.com

Just a few weeks after Nintendo's big February 2019 Direct, the company has announced another presentation, this one focusing entirely on Pokemon. The broadcast will air on the series' anniversary, February 27, and it promises to offer exciting "new information" that fans "don't want to miss."The presentation is scheduled to begin at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM GMT (1 AM AET on February 28) and will provide "roughly seven minutes of new information." As usual, Nintendo will host the stream on its website, YouTube, and Twitch channels, but you'll also be able to tune in right here on GameSpot via the video below. As for what we can expect, Nintendo hasn't revealed any details about what will be discussed during the broadcast, although fans are hopeful this will offer our first glimpse at the upcoming core Pokemon RPG for Switch. The Pokemon Company has said the game would be released in the latter half of 2019, and it seems only fitting that it would be unveiled on the day the series first launched in Japan.Aside from its general release window, we know very little about the upcoming Pokemon game for Switch. Developer Game Freak has previously said it is looking into allowing players to use their older Pokemon in the new title, although nothing concrete has been announced. You can read more about the game in our roundup of everything we know so far about Pokemon for Nintendo Switch. The latest Pokemon games, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, released on Switch last November. The pair are remakes of sorts of Pokemon Yellow, featuring the same setting and the original 151 Pokemon. However, they also diverge from the series in some dramatic ways; unlike most mainline games, they don't feature abilities or held items, and they eschew wild Pokemon battles for Pokemon Go's catching mechanics.Info from Gamespot.com

Plenty of video games have had distinctive art styles but few have managed to soar quite as high as Cuphead, the vintage cartoon inspired run-and-gun that took the world by storm back in 2017--and fans are going to have a chance to relive all that visual magic this coming October. From Dark Horse Comics and Studio MDHR, Cuphead is getting a brand new, oversized, 160-page art book full of early concepts, hand drawn frames, and retro designs as Cuphead and his pal Mugman worked to reclaim their souls from the devil. And that's not all--the game's stunning artwork will be accompanied by commentary and insight from game directors Chad and Jared Moldenhauer. In our review, we cited Cuphead's art as a major asset of the challenging side-scrolling game. "But difficult battles only tell half of the story. Cuphead's 1930s cartoon aesthetic is endlessly charming, popping with color and expression unlike anything seen at this scale in a video game before. The sheer variety of characters and settings yields consistent delight as you go from one stage to the next, with everything bearing the telltale signs of grainy '30s film and rudimentary production techniques. Cel-shading means something to a lot of people, but Cuphead truly re-creates the look of hand-drawn cel animation."Want even more Cuphead goodness to tide you over until October? Cuphead is getting its very first DLC--"The Delicious Last Course"--this year! We've got a look at just what to expect here from Studio MDHR themselves. The Art of Cuphead goes on sale October 22 and is available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, TFAW, and at your local comic shop for $30.
