Although no more movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been announced beyond July's Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next phase of the MCU is taking shape behind-the-scenes. One film that is definitely happening is the long-awaited Black Widow movie. It's set to start shooting this year, and now two big names are reportedly being lined up to star alongside Scarlett Johansson.According to Variety, Rachel Weisz and Stranger Things star David Harbour are both in talks to play roles in Black Widow. The site states that deals have not been made for either actor yet, but that Weisz will play a "key role" and that there is "strong interest from both sides of negotiations."Weisz is best known for movies such as this year's Oscar-nominated The Favourite, The Bourne Legacy, and the 1999 film of The Mummy. Harbour will next be seen in the reboot of Hellboy, which releases this month, and returns for Stranger Things Season 3 in July.Black Widow will be directed by Cate Shortland, who previously helmed the thriller The Berlin Syndrome. Last month it was reported that Fighting with My Family star Florence Pugh will play the second lead in the film. It doesn't currently have a release date.Before we get to her standalone movie, Johansson will be seen as Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame, which hits theaters on April 26. Ubisoft has announced the latest update for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Patch 1.2.0, will go live on Xbox One, PS4, and PC tomorrow, April 4. The update is 4.1 GB on Xbox One, 4.4 GB on PS4, and 3.9 GB on PC.Patch 1.2.0 implements in-game support for several upcoming content drops in Odyssey. The largest of those content drops--the first episode of Odyssey's Fate of Atlantis DLC, titled Fields of Elysium--releases April 23. Patch 1.2.0 adds in-game support for upcoming Lost Tales of Greece side missions as well. Like the Fate of Atlantis DLC, you can expect these Lost Tales of Greece missions to launch at a later date.The update adds new features to Odyssey too. Patch 1.2.0 implements custom gear loadouts, allowing you to quickly switch between your favorite combinations of armor and weapons for different combat encounters. Although it hasn't been confirmed, 2K has announced that cross-play could be a possibility for Borderlands 3. The upcoming sequel to one of the studio's most popular franchises is scheduled to launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 13. The PC version will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store first, though, before also releasing on Steam in April 2020.When asked about cross-play, a 2K spokesperson told GameSpot, "Cross-play is something we're looking at closely, but we don't have anything to confirm or announce at this time." Cross-play support for Borderlands 3 was seemingly announced when the Microsoft Store listing of the game advertised the feature under the game's Capabilities section. However, cross-play support has since been removed from the store listing.Gearbox released a new trailer--which can be watched above--for Borderlands 3 that offered a closer look at four brand-new playable Vault Hunters. There's Moze the Gunner, who, similar to Borderlands 2's Gaige, summons a mechanical helper to aid her in combat. However, Moze's companion, Iron Bear, is a giant mech that can be piloted by either Moze or one of her companions. Amara is a Siren, and like Lilith and Maya before her, she can summon powerful elemental energies to aid her in battle. Unlike the support-focused Sirens before her, though, Amara appears to be able to stand on her own as a more melee-focused fighter.Like Borderlands' Mordecai, FL4K the Beastmaster is a hunter-focused Vault Hunter. FL4K can command pet-like beasts, such a Skag and Spiderant, to aid him and his allies. Finally, Zane the Operative uses holographic decoys--not unlike Borderlands 2's Zer0--to get the drop on his enemies. Unlike Zer0, though, Zane comes equipped with a few other high-tech gadgets.Both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel added new Vault Hunters post-launch, but Gearbox has not confirmed whether that will also be the case for Borderlands 3. Shazam is DC's most fun movie yet--even more than Aquaman, which featured mer-men riding dinosaurs in large-scale underwater laser battles. That's saying something.This kind of thing doesn't happen by accident. The tone of the early "DCEU" (or whatever we're calling it nowadays) seems to have spewed forth directly from Zack Snyder's gritty, color-desaturated brain--Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman are actually cited in the dictionary under the entry for whatever the polar opposite of "fun" is. Which isn't to say that approach is ineherently bad--many fans have enjoyed the Snyder-fied versions of these characters. But following relative hits like Wonder Woman and Aquaman, Shazam is the latest DC movie to benefit from the guidance of a director who knows how to inject a little more fun into this universe: David Sandberg.Sandberg's previous directing credits include horror movies Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation. The Swedish director told GameSpot recently that he was excited to helm a movie with a lighter tone than what we've seen in the DC cinematic universe before."[Shazam] is such a unique character that it becomes a very different movie by default," Sandberg said.That has to do with Shazam's origin: "Most superheroes get their powers or they get their moment when they're older--they have this heavy responsibility suddenly," the director continued. "For Shazam, he's a kid and it's like, 'Holy s*** I have super powers!' It's such a different starting point and it's such a fun thing to explore--OK, what would a kid do with these superpowers? Because he would be probably quite irresponsible, and he'd film it, and then he'd put it on YouTube."And that's exactly what happens. Part of the reason Shazam works so well is that foster brothers Billy Batson (Asher Angel/Zach Levi) and Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) do exactly what any teenage boys would do with the newfound power for one of them to transform into an adult: They buy beer, ditch school, and engage in various hijinks that have little to do with anything you'd expect from a "normal" superhero.Another big reason is Zach Levi, who is pitch-perfect in the role of a teenage boy in an adult man's body who finds himself suddenly empowered to do incredible things (see also, Levi's role as a normal-dude-turned-super-spy on Chuck back in the 2000s)."[Shazam] hits what I believe to be kind of the most iconic hero story of them all: It's the kid who gets the magic word to be the super-version of themselves," Levi told GameSpot. "And that uniquely brings a level of humor and heart that, on those levels, I don't think has necessarily been in DC movies."Levi knows that Shazam isn't the first DC movie to exist on the lighter side of The Dark Knight, but he said they "played with the dials" and turned the "humor and heart" up to 11."I think what we accomplished--I hope what we accomplished--was similar to what Deadpool did in the Marvel universe, where they were kind of their own little viewpoint," Levi continued. "They were very self-aware and irreverent and commented on the whole universe, but were also in their own little pocket...There's an intelligence and an irreverence, and an awareness, about [Shazam], and about the genre itself--we're able to have fun, by commenting on the genre sometimes within the film, and give a different perspective on the DC universe. Netflix has renewed the Ricky Gervais show After Life for a second season to air in 2020. The renewal comes not long after the dark comedy's first season premiered in February.In a statement, Gervais said After Life--which features Gervais playing a character struggling to move on after his wife passes away and is known for its gallows humour--has generated a reaction unlike anything else he's ever worked on. Battlefield V launched last year without microtransactions, but they're coming to the World War II shooter very soon. An update to the shooter set for April 4 will introduce "Battlefield Currency," which is the name for the virtual currency that is purchased with real money.Players can spend Battlefield Currency to buy cosmetic items; they do not affect gameplay. Items that can be purchased with Battlefield Currency can also be earned through gameplay."The balanced rock-paper-scissors gameplay that has always been the foundation of the Battlefield series isn't going anywhere," DICE said. "Player skill will continue to be paramount with the addition of Battlefield Currency, which gives players more ways to acquire items to customize their characters and arsenal in Battlefield V."Beginning April 4, DICE will also release new Epic-level rarity items beyond the current Common, Uncommon, and Rare items that you can buy with Battlefield V's existing Company Coin currency. The wording of the statement suggests that the new Epic items may be only available to buy with real money, at least for now. The Brie Larson-starring superhero movie has now made more than $1 billion at the global box office since it premiered in March.It's made $358 million in North America and $645 million from international markets for a total of around $1.03 billion worldwide. It is the first female-led superhero movie to make $1 billion. DC's Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot made $821 million at the global box office.It becomes the seventh MCU movie to make more than $1 billion at the global box office, and the 18th Disney movie ever to cross $1 billion, according to Variety.The other MCU films that have made more than $1 billion include Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Black Panther, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War. The first trailer for Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn's new Amazon TV show Too Old To Die Young has come online, and besides looking great, it contains a surprise cameo.Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima appears in the trailer at 1:54 where he can be seen swinging a massive sword. It's not exactly clear, but it looks like Kojima is using the sword to slice off a man's finger. Whether or not he has any kind of recurring role on the show is unknown, but it seems unlikely given that he's also working on his PS4 game Death Stranding currently.Kojima and Refn are friends, and Kojima, a noted cinephile, is a big fan of the movie Drive. He even bought a replica of the scorpion jacket that Ryan Gosling wore in the movie.All the way back in May 2016, Kojima posted a photo of himself hanging out with Refn. In December 2017, Kojima tweeted that he visited Refn's production office for Too Old To Die Young. Those frictions, in many ways, are what makes Tropico an interesting and vivacious playground for those who want some nation-building with their city simulators.Your path through Tropico is a relatively simple one, given context and complexity by new systems that progressively stack on top of one another. In much the same way that our real-world economies are heavily influenced by trade, treaties, and demand, so too will your fledgling nation-state.At the outset, you'll have little more than a few shacks, shops, farms, and a lump sum to kickstart your nascent economy with infrastructure and business investment. Economic growth and innovation don't simply happen, though. There are a few necessary components you'll have to stitch together before you have even a rudimentary economy. Agriculture, roads, and teamsters are the absolute basics--grow the food and move it to the people. Creating and moving goods largely works the same regardless of what it is, but the complexity comes from layering the skeleton of metal or oil transport on top of the systems that keep people fed and healthy. Ports and supply depots, roads and laborers can only handle so much.On their own, these mechanisms would work well enough. The basics of the genre have been honed for almost three decades now, and little has changed in the sense that most city builders use stocks and flows--moving some resource to its consumer in progressive stages. Tropico is distinct, though, in many respects beyond even its central premise because of its detail-oriented approach. It contrasts with its contemporaries by following not only each individual, but for simulating even small changes in living conditions.Because this nation is dictatorial from the outset, you're also given control over just about everything. How well are the teamsters paid? The houses furnished? Are you letting your people live in shacks? This moves down another level, too, because as time goes on, the populace evolves quite organically. Different factions come together on their own. Most of the time, they'll support political moves that match their own self-interest, but not always. Propaganda, trade, international political movements, and even disasters will have marked effects on the social fabric, too.Such detail isn't for its own sake; how you play is critically dependent on the political forces at work. Corruption is useful, as it can be a cheap, quick way to consolidate power. But that risks exacerbating the underlying social issues. Still, because there's an element of roleplaying--you create your own avatar, decorate your palace, and even have a private bank account to squirrel away cash--the mechanics are built out to support a variety of choices.You can, hypothetically, push people to their limit and bail on the country, but it's a lot more satisfying to tackle the challenge of managing dynamic international political relations--avoid invasion, keep your people healthy and happy and lead the world in research. That's not the only viable path, but the rewards are largely self-evident and act as a scalable difficulty curve that you are encouraged to approach. Many paths are intrinsically rewarding for those that like to see the productivity of their people or their nation climb, but transitioning into a vibrant, prismatic tourist hotspot can bear aesthetic marvels all its own. The island can feel a bit like caretaking dozens of Tamagotchi, and the satisfaction just as palpable.While still couched in stylized humor endemic to the series, Tropico 6 is a bit less flippant with its political parallels. The vestiges of colonialism have always been present, but they weren't treated too seriously in past entries. An emissary for some far-flung king would occasionally demand something ridiculous to suit his whims, and the joke was always that he was detached from reality and had no idea how people--especially his colonial subjects--earnestly lived. Those threads are still here, but the colonialism hasn't been defanged quite as much. Instead, the Crown's messengers are direct, stating that their exploitation is unfair and pretty cruel. But what are you going to do, fight off a superpower? At the same time, the revolutionaries, once treated as simply different brand of silly, are more grounded--offering a sympathetic lens to the fictionalized rendition of groups that often have little voice of their own.Beyond the increased fidelity of simulation, Tropico 6's biggest change is the increased map complexity. You now essentially have access to whole archipelagos to settle. These are not only fascinating to explore in their own right often holding archaeological ruins or rare minerals, but offer brilliant mechanical challenges. Building out a whole new parallel infrastructure is no easy feat, and requires foresight, planning, and investment--but again, is rewarding to execute. Integration of the new systems, or even crafting self-sufficient settlements are challenges, made rewarding by the nuanced logistical challenges. While the underlying simulation is indeed, predictable, the island does evolve a bit on its own: economies and politics shift with time, providing a constant, low-level nudge to your work.Even without that new addition--citizens are born, live, and eventually die and your islands' culture changes accordingly. How you have and continue to balance policy and labor, exports and research will leave indelible marks on the psyche of the populace. The complexity of those petri dish layers can max out the user interface at times, particularly if you have a rather large or dense city and doubly so if you're new to the series. As the city expands, and as public opinion and needs shift, tracking down influential individuals or logistical breaking points requires flipping through a dozen or so different pages of stats and maps.Even so, you have more than enough tools to control just about everything that happens in Tropico. Failure and success, then, can feel quite a bit like a referendum not just on your policies, but on your rendition of El Presidente. The notion of dictatorship as a role that you play for yucks is still there, if that's a hat you want to wear--though it's harder to indulge your own selfish impulses when you can see how your actions are condemning Lydia the lumberjack to a lifetime of poverty.Info from Gamespot.com

Following the launch of Assassin's Creed III Remastered last month, it appears publisher Ubisoft has delisted the original game from PC retailers such as Steam and Uplay. The game's Steam page is still visible, but states, "At the request of the publisher, Assassin's Creed III is no longer available for sale on Steam."Assassin's Creed III Remastered is of course available for purchase for $40 / £34 / AU $60, but unlike the original version this does not include the game's multiplayer portion. GameSpot has reached out to Ubisoft to confirm why the original version was removed.It should be noted the delisting does not prevent existing owners of Assassin's Creed III from downloading or playing the game--it merely prevents anyone else from purchasing it. Assassin's Creed III Remastered, meanwhile, is included in the season pass for Assassin's Creed Odyssey.After launching on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the end of March, Assassin's Creed III Remastered is making its way to Nintendo Switch on May 21. The original game, meanwhile, was first released for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U in 2012. Atlus, the developer of the critically acclaimed Persona 5, has announced it will be revealing something related to the title on April 25. A website confirming the date of the reveal has appeared online, but there's no indication as to what the studio will be talking about. However, the website intriguingly has "P5S" in its URL.Atlus has already announced a new version of the RPG for PS4 called Persona 5 The Royal, but this has its own website with "P5R" in the URL. This suggests that P5S is something separate from the PS4's Persona 5 The Royale. Much of the speculation for what it could be has been around a Nintendo Switch version of Persona 5, and the "S" in the URL no doubt fuels that fire.Thus far, Persona 5 has only been released on PlayStation hardware. Alongside the PS4 version, however, there's a PS3 version, which could be suitable for porting to the Switch. Additionally, Atlus and Nintendo are already working together to bring Joker, the protagonist of Persona 5, to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC.In February, Nintendo confirmed it is working on update 3.0 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but didn't say what it'll include. Nintendo added that Joker would be available for the game before the end of April. With this in mind, the use of "1 More" on the website could also be significant. In Persona 5 the phrase is used when a player is given an opportunity to make an extra move as a bonus. Avengers: Endgame is now only a few weeks from release, and finally tickets have gone on sale. To coincide with that, Marvel has shared a few new IMAX posters and, more notably, a new "special look" teaser trailer. Despite running for less than a minute total, it's packed with new footage and gives us the best idea yet of what to expect from the movie.The teaser shows that the remaining heroes will come together to confront Thanos. It certainly doesn't look like it's going to be an easy mission but the remaining heroes look determined--as Black Widows says: "We owe it to everyone not in this room to try." It also looks like Steve and Tony have settled their past differences, but Thanos--who hasn't been featured prominently in past trailers--doesn't seem very worried about their challenge. We also get a few more glimpses of Captain Marvel, as well as Tony having apparently made it back to Earth, where he reunites with Pepper Potts.
