Sony recently started to explain its plans for the next generation of PlayStation, suggesting it could be closer than we had previously thought. But it still isn't too close, as the company has now ruled out seeing it anytime in the next year.Sony Interactive Entertainment followed up with an earnings announcement, and Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki tweeted about the company's comments (via Engadget). The company announced that the next PlayStation will not be coming in the next fiscal year, which rules out any new console on shelves by April 2020. The company also recommitted a heavy investment into developing the next PlayStation.Last year we had heard that the next-generation PlayStation was still three years away, which would put it in 2021. Cerny taking the wraps off with first details suggested that Sony could have moved that timeline up, possibly for a 2020 launch. This revelation doesn't rule out 2020 altogether, but it does mean the company would need to aim for a summer or fall launch instead of spring.PS4 architect Mark Cerny began detailing plans for the next PlayStation--presumably to be named the PlayStation 5--in a recent interview. The upgrade sounds like a significant improvement that still relies on a lot of PS4 architecture, even down to allowing for backwards compatibility. Other features include a solid-state drive, and the potential to support 8K resolution. You can read up on all of the technical specs we know so far.Cerny also specifically ruled out the PS5 being an all-digital device. Microsoft has taken the first step into offering an all-digital console with the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, but it remains to be seen if its next generation will be all-digital as well. This could tie into Microsoft's plans to launch a streaming platform, code-named Project xCloud, which could reduce the need for physical media. Meanwhile, both of them will face a new competitor with the coming launch of Google Stadia, an all-streaming gaming platform.Info from Gamespot.com

Now that the world is seeing Avengers: Endgame in record numbers, the final installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Infinity Saga, there are many questions to be answered. And that's before you consider what happens from here in the MCU. We know some of the movies still to come, but how will Marvel Studios top what it has already done? Warning: The following contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame. While most of the questions you have will likely be answered with time, there's some we can solve right now, whether it's if there was a post-credits scene or what the ending of the film means. However, there's yet another question--a minor one, but still--that is ready to be answered.Toward the end of the film, during Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) funeral, many of those he's has known throughout the first decade of the MCU are seen, from his fellow Avengers to the Guardians of the Galaxy, to even friends like Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). There was one face in the crowd you might not have recognized, though: that of a teenage boy. At a glance, you may have dismissed him as being Peter Parker (Tom Holland), but the answer is actually a really nice Easter Egg.The boy is Harley Keener (Ty Simpkins). You should remember him as Tony Stark's kid sidekick in Iron Man 3. In the 2013 film, Tony winds up in Tennessee after an attack by the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), where he befriends Harley. The kid then helps him track down the Mandarin and plays a big role in helping Tony cope with the PTSD he's suffering from due to the fallout of the first Avengers film.Harley was not seen or mentioned in the MCU after Iron Man 3, but including him in Tony's funeral is a very nice touch--and one that shows the impact Stark had on the young man. In fact, now that he's growing up, perhaps Harley could be a candidate to become the next Iron Man. That probably won't happen, but what a fun twist it would be. Regardless, the mystery is solved.Avengers: Endgame is in theaters now. Made sure to check out GameSpot's review of the film, as well as an accounting of everyone who dies, and a deep dive into figuring out Dr. Strange's plan between Infinity Was and Endgame.Info from Gamespot.com

Avengers: Endgame is now in theaters. This is a far bigger-than-average movie even by Marvel's standards, as it sets out to complete a story arc that has spanned a decade and more than 20 films. It didn't take much of a leap to imagine it performing well at the box office, and early projections suggested it could be a record breaker. While it still has the entire weekend to go, the early preview showings on Thursday in the US have already helped it to break one record.Deadline reports that the film's Thursday night screenings brought in $60 million, toppling the record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $57 million. For the purposes of tabulating, Thursday evenings are counted as part of Friday's box office take, which industry estimates say could reach around $130-140 million. If so that would beat the total Friday record, also set by Force Awakens at $119 million.Meanwhile, the movie is breaking records in the other markets as well. THR reports that its overseas two-day gross since opening on Wednesday is $305 million, which includes a large chunk from China. That brings the grand worldwide total up to $365 million before the weekend has even started. And there may be more broken records to come. Industry watchers think the full domestic weekend box office take could top $300 million. Even getting close to that point would be enough to beat the opening weekend record set by Avengers: Infinity War, which brought in just over $257 million. We've known for quite a while that Avengers stood a good chance at breaking records. Initial estimates put it at a $200-250 opening weekend, which would have just missed the Infinity War record. But even those estimates were couched in reminders that the Infinity War's own estimates pegged it at an opening of $180-225 million, and it blew past those easily. Then we got word that ticket presales were already outpacing several other blockbusters combined. Deadline estimated earlier this week that Endgame could break opening weekend records, and that appears to be happening. It also remains to be seen if Endgame will match or exceed Infinity War in total global sales at just over $2 billion. Even if it does, it will still need to go a lot further to take down the current reigning champion of total global sales: Avatar, with $2.78 billion. If you're getting ready to take part in that weekend box office gross, make sure you check out our spoiler-free review and plan ahead with our advice on when it's safe to pee. Or if you've already seen it and you're still processing all that happened, we have you covered with everything from who's alive and dead to Doctor Strange's plan. We also have a massive collection of Endgame Easter eggs and references.Info from Gamespot.com

The Revelry is in full swing and the Iron Banner has returned in Destiny 2, and if that wasn't enough, it's also the weekend--which means it's Xur time. The Agent of the Nine is back once again with an offering of Exotics to sell, although unfortunately he's not bringing any of the Exotics from Forsaken with him this time out. He does, however, offer a Fated Engram that guarantees a fresh Exotic, and a new Invitation of the Nine weekly bounty. And if you're still hurting for Exotics, you can head into the Verdant Forest and snag the Arbalest with our handy guide.Head to Titan to find Xur this week. He's in the area marked as The Rig, hanging out in a low building to the northeast of the spawn point. Ride your sparrow north with the edge of the platform and the water on your left until you see a low building; the vendor is inside.Xur brings Sweet Business with him this week, an Exotic auto rifle that sprays an ridiculous amount of ammo. The gun increases its fire rate and range the longer you hold down the trigger and automatically reloads from ammo you pick up off the ground, allowing you to do a ton of shooting without stopping. On the armor side, Xur brings Hunters the Lucky Pants leg armor, which reloads your stowed hand cannon for every precision hit you land, and makes hand cannons faster and more accurate when you swap to them. For Titans, there's Doom Fang Pauldron, which gives you Super energy when you make melee kills, extends your Super on Shield Throw hits, and recharges Shield Throw when you get melee kills with your Super active. Finally, for Warlocks, there's the Aeon Soul gauntlets, which recharges your allies' class abilities, especially if they're also wearing Aeon Cult Exotics. Here are all the Exotics Xur offers this week and what they'll cost you:Sweet Business (Exotic auto rifle) -- 29 Legendary ShardsDoom Fang Pauldron (Exotic Titan gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsLucky Pants (Exotic Hunter leg armor) -- 23 Legendary ShardsAeon Soul (Exotic Warlock gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsYou can also purchase a Fated Engram from Xur, if his inventory doesn't interest you. Fated Engrams can now dish out Exotics from the Forsaken expansion, as well as the Year One group. Grabbing one of the engrams gives you a random Exotic that you don't already have, provided you can afford it. Fated Engrams will run you 97 Legendary Shards, and you can only get one per account each week. Xur also offers the Five of Swords challenge card for free, which allows you to add difficulty modifiers that increase your score in Nightfall runs. Finally, Xur brings another Invitation of the Nine weekly bounty. It gives you a Powerful gear drop when you complete it, as well as a bit of story about the Nine and the Drifter, and a new Lore entry. As usual, you'll have to clear out a mess of enemies of various types, and complete a Strike. Stick to the planet mentioned in the bounty to kill the enemies you need, as they don't always count if you kill them in other places.Info from Gamespot.com

Nintendo has announced a special online demo for Mario Tennis Aces, which goes live on April 26 at 12PM PT / 3PM ET and continues until May 3. Downloading the demo gives you a free seven-day trial to Nintendo Switch Online as well."Taking part in the special demo will also allow players to reap some special rewards that even carry over into the full Mario Tennis Aces game," Nintendo said in a press release. "Playing just one match in this week-long tournament unlocks an outfit for Mario that decks him out in classic overalls, while by collecting points in the demo's co-op challenge mode, players are eligible to unlock blue, red, and yellow Yoshi that can also be used right away in the special demo or in the full version of the game."Mario Tennis Aces' latest update added an expanded Ring Shot mode to the game. In Ring Shot, you play cooperatively with other players and try to rally as long as you can while hitting the tennis ball through randomly appearing rings on the court. There are Singles, Doubles, and Yoshi's Ring Shot variations to the mode. Yoshi's Ring Shot is a limited-time event which ends on June 1. You rack up points hitting the ball through the rings that are the same color as the Yoshi you're playing as, and the event gives you the chance to unlock three new Yoshi colors: pink, orange, and light blue. The roster in Mario Tennis Aces has grown in recent months, with Pauline, Boom Boom, Kamek, and several others joining. Dry Bones will be added as a playable character next month. In our Mario Tennis Aces review, Justin Clark wrote, "It speaks volumes that even the multiplayer limitations don't entirely dampen my enthusiasm for Aces. The Tetris Effect is in full swing here; days after the credits rolled, I still crave the satisfying thwack from a Power Shot, mentally replay matches and imagine how I might do things differently given a bit more focus and know-how. Mario Tennis Aces does what this series has done best, and for the most part, improves what it's rarely gotten right prior."Info from Gamespot.com

Bethesda continues to announce and release patches for Fallout 76, and today is no different. The Maryland-based company has announced that the online, open-world shooter will get yet another update next month. Patch 9, scheduled to drop on May 7, will introduce a new faction and increase item carry weight. The patch is titled Ever Upwards, a mantra of Appalachia's Pioneer Scouts. The Pioneer Scouts have seen their numbers--both in terms of new recruits and veteran members--dwindle due to the Great War's effects. As such, anyone and everyone willing to help their cause can join. To become a Pioneer Scout, players should check out train stations. Those who join the Pioneer Scouts can complete challenges--such as archery, cooking, swimming, and more--to earn badges. These badges can be exchanged at Pioneer Scout vending machines for C.A.M.P. items and various other loot. The reward for players who reach Possum rank is tougher badges and their first backpack.Backpacks make their first appearance with the Ever Upwards patch. Bethesda doesn't specify how much the backpack will increase carry weight. However, they can be outfitted with a number of craftable mods, such as increasing carry capacity, damage resistance, a refrigeration unit, and more. Check out the image below for a sampling of backpack designs. In conjunction with these additions, double experience in Fallout 76 is happening all weekend. Double XP, available in both Adventure and Survival modes, kicked off Thursday, April 25 at 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT and will end on Monday, April 29 at 6 AM ET / 3 AM PT.Bethesda recently released Patch 8.5. The patch--approximately 2GB on console and a little under 1GB on PC--adds the controversial repair kits and a new photo mode.Info from Gamespot.com

In 2008, Marvel set a precedent with its release of Iron Man. After the credits finished rolling, there was an additional scene featuring Nick Fury telling Tony Stark that there are more superheroes in the world, and the audience is introduced to the Avengers Initiative. In the 20 movies taking place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thereafter, there has been a mid or post-credits sequence--and sometimes both--revealing an inkling of information as to where the next big movie is headed (although some are just well-crafted jokes). However, Avengers: Endgame is the first movie in the history of the shared universe to not have a visual element at the end. There is an audio stinger, but it's not something leading to Phase 4 of the MCU.Warning: Endgame spoilers below. If you haven't seen it yet, check out our review instead. Was the decision not to include a post-credit sequence in Avengers: Endgame a good call? Without a doubt, yes. Aside from the fact that this all brings a natural conclusion to the Infinity Saga, even though Spider-Man: Far From Home ends Phase 3 now, we don't need to see what comes next because we get great resolutions during the final moments of the movie. We don't need to be hyped up for the next movie because the focus at the end of Endgame should be on where our favorite heroes end up before the credits roll. And there is a lot happening.Thor decides to join the Guardians of the Galaxy, while passing the torch to Valkyrie to lead the Asgardians in New Asgard. The son of Odin has done all he can for his people, and he sees a new journey with new friends ahead. Also, a Guardians of the Galaxy movie with Thor and Peter Quill on the same team sounds like a delight. This also opens the door for Valkyrie to play that Thor role on a new Avengers team.Steve Rogers also has a passing of the torch moment with Sam Wilson, who will probably take on the mantle of Captain America in future movies. Rogers returning to the past and spending his life with Peggy Carter is the closure we need for his story, after years of selflessness (although not everyone thinks so). In present day, we already have the makings of a solid Avengers team coming up with Sam Wilson, Valkyrie, Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Hulk, Dr. Strange, Wong, and probably Carol Danvers. There are more I know I've missed, but even with Tony Stark and Rogers not available to be on the team in the future, things are looking up for The Avengers. We all know Spider-Man: Far From Home is a few months away, and the MCU will continue afterward, so not having a post-credit sequence is a clean break from what's next for the shared universe. Avengers: Endgame leaves you with resolution, not a cliffhanger. We know change is coming, and we see it happen as the movie wraps up. It's nice to leave the movie when the credits start and not have to wait around in anticipation of something bigger. The audience doesn't need a little extra because there's a full plate of action, emotion, and most importantly, closure.Info from Gamespot.com

The time has finally come. Avengers: Endgame is now in theaters and brought with it the end of not only this era of the MCU, but grand finales for a bunch of our favorite superheroes and superhero teams--which means we have a lot of ground to cover here.Watch yourself: From here on out, we are in spoiler country. The End (Of Phase 3)Shockingly, Marvel broke their decades-long tradition of having multiple post-credits sequences for this one--the end of this movie actually is the end, with no stingers or gags to cap it off. It goes like this: Some creative maneuvering from 2014 Nebula (not present day Nebula, who is a good guy) brings the fight with 2014 Thanos (not present day Thanos, who is dead) to Earth after the Avengers scavenge through the time stream for the Infinity Stones in the past.Luckily, before the fight actually starts up, Bruce is able to use their time-heisted Stones to bring back everyone who was dusted, so the team has some serious reinforcements when Thanos and the Chitauri arrive. The ensuing fight is beyond epic, with legions of Wakandan soldiers, Asgardian refugees, sorcerers in training--really you name it, if they've shown up in the MCU before, they're probably here and duking it out with Thanos's alien hordes. But of course, even with all the backup in the world, Thanos isn't going to go down easy. The fight actually allows Steve Rogers to finally prove his worth and wield Mjolnir (remember that moment in Age of Ultron when he couldn't pick it up?). The fight amounts to a few truly beautiful spotlight moments, including both Carol and Wanda getting their own shot at Thanos himself, all while the Avengers play cosmic hot potato with the new Infinity Gauntlet they've made. That's the name of the game for most of the fight: keep the Stones away from Thanos while beating back the Chitauri and the Black Order.Thank god this fight happens in an otherwise totally abandoned crater, right? For as huge as the battle is, there really isn't any collateral damage outside of the Avengers compound, which is pretty thoroughly demolished. RIP.Anyway, the fight ultimately concludes with a narrow miss--Thanos manages to get the Gauntlet back, but Tony is fast enough to pull the Stones out before he has a chance to use them. That's when Tony gets to have his big moment. Thanos, undeterred, says "I am inevitable" to which Tony gets to make the ultimate Iron Man 1 callback by responding, "I am Iron Man." He integrates the Stones into his armor and snaps his fingers, which results in a mirror of Infinity War's final moments, except this time it's Thanos and the Chitauri who turn to dust.Unfortunately, that sort of power comes with a price. The End (For Tony Stark)Tony's use of the Gauntlet takes a massive toll and, tragically (if expectedly), costs him his life. He stays alive long enough to get to say some poignant goodbyes to the people he cares about most, like Pepper and Peter and Rhodey--so get your tissues ready. The funeral is where it gets really tough. It's not the most traditional--Pepper makes a memorial with her "Proof That Tony Stark Has A Heart" trophy from back in the first Iron Man movie and sets it to sail on the peaceful lake behind their property. It's well-attended by all of Tony's friends and family--even Nick Fury, who has otherwise been MIA for the whole movie, shows up. The kid from Iron Man 3 is there, too--though it might take you a second to recognize him.Tony leaves behind both Pepper and their daughter, Morgan, who gets a very cute moment with Happy. He asks if she's hungry, she replies yes, and that she'd like a cheeseburger. Happy laughs and tells her that her dad liked cheeseburgers too--another Iron Man 1 callback. Tony's first request after setting foot back stateside was for a cheeseburger. Apparently the Stark family has a very specific method of coping with trauma.Joking aside, Tony's arc culminates in a major pay off for a moment back in Avengers 1 when Steve and Tony have one of their first fights. Steve called out Tony's selfishness, saying he only fights for himself; that he's "not the guy to make the sacrifice play." It may have taken six whole movies, but Tony finally has a chance to prove himself a hero once and for all.The End (For Steve Rogers)Despite all the evidence and predictions to the contrary, Steve Rogers did not die in the final fight with Thanos--but he did get a pretty definitive ending. After all the time-heisting went down, someone had to take the stolen Infinity Stones back to their respective spots in history to prevent a bunch of branching timelines from splitting off and causing temporal chaos. Steve does this alone, using a hastily rebuilt quantum portal--but it doesn't exactly go as planned. Rather than just dropping each Stone back where it came from and returning to the present, Steve decides to peel off and--you guessed it--go live a full life with Peggy Carter back in the past.Instead of teleporting back to the current time, an elderly Steve shows up at the rendezvous point. The logic here gets a little fuzzy from a time travel perspective, but apparently going back and marrying Peggy didn't cause a branched timeline and they finally got their dance. In his own words, he took Tony's advice to try just living a normal life.As an old man, Steve clearly won't be doing any more superheroics--but don't worry, the world won't be without a Captain America for too long. He passes the shield over to Sam, who will officially take up the mantle when next there is a need. The End (For Thor)During the five-year post-Thanos time jump, Thor and the Asgardian refugees on Earth formed New Asgard, a little oceanside town where Thor, uh, kind of let himself go. However, by the end of the movie, he's decidedly gotten his groove back and is ready to get back in the proverbial saddle. He accomplishes this by first leaving New Asgard to a new ruler, Valkyrie, and then joining the Guardians of the Galaxy--er, the Asgardians of the Galaxy, sorry--to go adventure through space. There's some conflict right away, however, when Quill and Thor can't quite agree about who's in charge. It's definitely Quill, right? We'll see how that goes come Guardians 3, probably. This review contains minor spoilers about mission structure and overall story direction. There are no spoilers for major narrative moments.Around 10 hours into Days Gone, you're thrown into a hunting tutorial apropos of nothing. The over-the-top libertarian character takes you out with a rifle and shows you how to track a deer, although you've already had a tracking tutorial. You're then tasked with getting more meat for you and your buddy because your supply is running low, something you never have to do again. You also don't cook or eat; you can only donate meat to camps around the map to earn a negligible amount of trust and money with them. After a little while, even stopping to get meat off wolves that attacked you doesn't seem worth it.Like many things in Days Gone, hunting exists just to be there, an idea that is picked up and then abandoned at random. Unlike hunting, some of those ideas are even good in the moment. But most aspects of Days Gone lack purpose. Its many narrative threads flirt with being meaningful and interesting but never quite commit, with characters whose actions and motivations don't make sense. Riding a souped-up motorcycle through the world and taking out zombie nests and hordes is satisfying in the way that completing open-world checklists often is, but by the end, you're left to wonder what the point of it all was.The first act of the game--about 20 hours or so--sets up quite a few narrative arcs. Two years after the initial "Freaker" outbreak, biker buddies Deacon St. John and Boozer have become drifters doing odd jobs for nearby survivor camps and keeping mostly to themselves. Deacon's wife, Sarah, had been stabbed at the very beginning of the outbreak; Deacon put her on a government helicopter bound for a refugee camp so she could get medical attention, but when he and Boozer arrived, the camp has been overrun by Freaks, and Sarah had apparently died. Deacon is understandably not coping with it well. Boozer suggests riding north and leaving the memories behind, but Deacon's bike breaks down and is subsequently looted for parts, so one of your main goals is to earn trust and credits at the nearby camps in order to rebuild your motorcycle. The motorcycle is central to everything you do in Days Gone. Getting anywhere, including by fast travel, requires your bike, and if you want to save while out in the world, you better be right next to it. Getting off your bike is a matter of both your entrance and your exit; you need to stop far enough away from enemies so they don't hear you coming, but you also need to be able to run to your bike quickly if things go south and you need to escape. And, as you're sneaking past Freakers to loot things like bandages and ammo, you also need to be on the lookout for a gas can and some scrap metal to keep your bike in top shape--if it breaks down or runs out of gas, you're basically screwed. That said, gas and other loot do regenerate if you leave and return to a location, so you'll never truly run out of anything so long as you put in the time to look for it.At the beginning, you do jobs for two camps: Copeland's conspiracy theorist stronghold and Tucker's hellish forced-labor camp. Copeland's has a mechanic capable of upgrading your bike, while Tucker's has a well-stocked weapons merchant. Your starter junk bike gets about a mile per gallon, and you can't store a gas can on your bike or your person, so you either have to return to a camp to fuel up or constantly scrounge for gas cans out in Freaker territory. This makes wandering around and doing things in the open world frustrating at first, so you do a lot of throwaway missions for the two camps to start. Many of these early missions consist of cookie-cutter bounty-hunting and rescue jobs in which you go to a place, track a person using your apparently psychic Survival Vision to highlight footprints and other clues, and then kill some bandits or Freakers. Some of these require you to take the target alive, which often means chasing them on your bike and shooting at their tires with your pistol. If you happen to run out of gas or ammo, or if your bike is already weak and breaks down after a couple of bumpy turns, you auto-fail these missions and have to start over. You also accelerate with R2 and shoot with R1, which, while not horrible, is clunky and awkward. One early scene involving a drug thief kicks off a series of missions like these that, once completed, has no bearing on the rest of the game despite initial appearances; once you track down the stolen drugs you have to choose which camp to return them to, but there are no consequences either way, and then the situation is dropped entirely. The only result is getting some trust and credits with one of the camps--I chose Copeland simply because I wanted money for a better fuel tank. A lot of the story missions going forward, as you discover a third, more narratively relevant camp, follow the same structures as these earlier missions. But the focus on Tucker and Copeland specifically amounts to hours of nothing in the grand scheme of the story. Tucker's forced labor doesn't come back to bite anyone, and while Tucker and Copeland don't seem to like each other, doing work for one camp doesn't affect your relationship with the other. Once you get to the third camp, Lost Lake, Tucker and Copeland cease to matter at all, not least because Lost Lake has both a better mechanic and better weapons.Once you upgrade your bike a bit, though, the world opens up. No longer bound by low gas mileage and a weak arsenal, you can head further out and more handily take on enemy-controlled areas around the map. You clear ambush camps by killing everyone present and eliminate Freaker infestation zones by burning all their nests. In addition to trust and credits, clearing an ambush camp nets you resources to loot, a map of the area, and a new fast travel point; destroying an infestation zone allows you to fast travel in the area. Unlocking the map and neutralizing threats is satisfying in the way that cleaning up clutter bit by bit is, and you can see your work pay off in your bike's upgrades. However, there's little variety between each ambush camp and infestation zone, and they get repetitive early--especially because Deacon dry-heaves and whines about the nests smelling horrible at each one.The real motivation to do all of this is twofold. Early on in the game, Deacon's best friend Boozer is attacked by a group of Rippers, a doomsday cult with a number of bizarre rituals. The Rippers singe a tattoo off Boozer's arm and leave him with third-degree burns, so Deacon's purpose in life is to keep Boozer alive and healthy. This mostly involves finding sterile bandages and the one mission where you gather meat for him. On top of that, though, Deacon sees a helicopter belonging to the government agency NERO, which had been involved in the initial relief effort, flying overhead. That gives Deacon a bit of hope that Sarah might still be alive, since he'd put her on a NERO helicopter after she was stabbed, so you start stalking the NERO soldiers and scientists to investigate further. There are a number of flashbacks to Deacon's relationship with Sarah before the outbreak, bolstered by his hope that she's alive. They're largely awkward cutscenes interspersed with short sections of walking slowly while Sarah and Deacon talk about surface-level topics, and they don't ever provide a convincing reason why they're together. Deacon is a biker and Sarah is a "nice girl" scientist, which is fine, but "opposites attract" isn't enough to make their relationship compelling. It's romantic in that Deacon hasn't given up on Sarah, but the main takeaway from the flashbacks is that they're physically attracted to each other and that Deacon doesn't talk about his feelings. The NERO arc is where things really pick up. Spying on the NERO scientists consists of insta-fail stealth missions. They can be frustrating before you unlock abilities to improve your stealth skills, but the conversations you overhear are legitimately interesting and answer questions that other zombie fiction often neglects. For example, you learn from one eavesdropping on a scientist studying Freaker scat that they eat more than just other people and each other--they also eat plants, and that means they're not going to starve any time soon (like in 28 Days Later). Deacon quickly gets in contact with a NERO researcher who uses government resources to track down what might have happened to Sarah. Even though their relationship is confusing, it is a tempting mystery.Abandoned Nero medical units and research sites contain more small details, including recorders that play snippets of scenes--a scientist studying a Freaker specimen, the moment a camp got overrun, or just banter between soldiers. Getting inside a unit is a matter of refueling the generator, making sure to find and disable every speaker nearby so the noise doesn't attract Freakers. Finding each speaker can be a bit tricky at certain sites, which makes the moment you turn the power on more exciting and the realization that you're in the clear more of a relief. And in addition to satisfying your curiosity, you're also given the more tangible reward of an injector that improves your health, stamina, and bullet-time-like focus ability. As you learn more about NERO and the Freakers, you're introduced to new, more powerful types of Freaks, including a berserker and an all-female variant that screams to attract more Freaks your way. They don't really provide new challenges so much as slow you down, and they feel like a stopgap measure to tide you over until the first horde-based mission around 40 hours into the game. That first horde mission is exhilarating--running around while using tight spaces and molotovs to keep the horde off you, eventually taking out hundreds of Freakers, is a well-earned victory. But that mission is followed very quickly by another one, and after a short break, you have two more nearly back-to-back horde missions that lead up to the end of the main story. Without any breathing room, the hordes are exhausting to deal with, and you'll likely have to stop everything to loot and rebuild your stockpile of resources after each one just so you can progress.Ultimately, though, Days Gone isn't about NERO or Sarah or the Freakers. It's about Deacon, and what he wants is what matters. Narrative threads are dropped as soon as Deacon no longer has a use for them. Copeland and Tucker only matter until Deacon gets to a camp that has better supplies. Boozer's health is only important because it's Deacon's reason for living. Even the fascinating little details about the Freakers are useless to Deacon, who only cares about Sarah--but not what Sarah wants or needs, just that his "ol' lady" might be alive somewhere. Every character is seen through this Deacon-focused lens, and as a result, they're two-dimensional.Deacon is selfish, and it's simply boring that the game is uncritical of him.Deacon does not learn anything over the course of the game, and the story is concerned with validating his actions and feelings above all else. When one character urges him not to kill anyone in cold blood, Deacon "proves" that murder is better than mercy. As Boozer nearly breaks through to Deacon about learning to let go, Deacon learns something new about NERO and clings to his hope even harder. Deacon also has a policy where he doesn't kill unarmed women, which does not affect the story in any way and goes completely unexamined. There's no introspection here; Deacon is selfish, and it's simply boring that the game is uncritical of him.I did a lot of things in Days Gone. I burned every single Freaker nest; I cleared every ambush camp; I maxed out my bike; I took out a few optional hordes just because. Like Deacon with Sarah, I kept going because I hoped to find something, to follow a thread to a possibly fascinating or satisfying or impactful conclusion. But at the end of it all, I'd only gotten scraps.Info from Gamespot.com

Pokemon Go's Meltan event has returned for a limited time, giving you another chance to catch a rare Shiny Meltan if you missed it the first time around. Not only will the special Pokemon appear from now until May 5, Niantic has also made it easier to find more Meltan than usual, allowing you to stock up on the Candy you need to evolve it.Unlike other Mythical Pokemon, which can typically be found through either EX Raids or Special Research questlines, Meltan will only appear in Pokemon Go if you've used an item called the Mystery Box, which can be obtained exclusively by linking the game with either Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee on Nintendo Switch. If you're unsure of how to get your hands on one, here's how to catch and evolve the Hex Nut Pokemon. How To Catch MeltanAs mentioned above, the key to finding Meltan is obtaining the Mystery Box, which you'll automatically receive after you've transferred a Gen 1 Pokemon to either of the Let's Go titles. You can read more information about how Pokemon Go transfers work here. After you've received a Mystery Box, open it and Meltan will begin to spawn in the wild for the next 30 minutes. Once you spot one, you can catch it just as you would any other wild Pokemon in Go. During this event, you'll also have a chance of encountering a Shiny Meltan when you open the Mystery Box; however, whether one appears will be down entirely to luck, so you'll need to be persistent if you're hoping to catch one. After the 30 minutes have elapsed, the Mystery Box will close, and you'll typically need to wait seven days before you can open it again and capture more Meltan. However, from now until May 5, Niantic has greatly reduced this cooldown timer to three days, so you can re-open the Mystery Box and catch Meltan again much more quickly than before. How To Evolve MeltanEven if you've already caught the Hex Nut Pokemon, the Meltan event is a good opportunity to stock up on more, as you can transfer any excess ones to Professor Willow in exchange for Meltan Candy. You'll need a whopping 400 of those Candies to evolve Meltan into Melmetal, but you can expedite the process in a few ways. Rare Candies will work toward powering up any Pokemon, even Meltan, and feeding Pinap Berries to one during the capture phase will increase the amount of Candy you receive if you successfully catch it.If you evolve a Shiny Meltan, it'll retain its Shiny coloration as Melmetal. This version of the Pokemon sports a slightly darker head and a blue tail rather than a red one. You'll also be able to transfer any Meltan or Melmetal you've obtained in Pokemon Go over to Let's Go, where you can add them to your party or show them off in online battles. You can read more about how to get Meltan and Melmetal here. The Meltan event is scheduled to run until 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on Sunday, May 5. More details about the event can be found on the Pokemon Go website.Info from Gamespot.com

Respawn CEO Vince Zampella has revealed Apex Legends will stick to seasonal updates. The Titanfall-themed battle royale game won't change to weekly content drops, like Fortnite, in an effort to prevent development crunch at Respawn.Although Zampella didn't reference Epic Games or Fortnite in Respawn's reasoning, his announcement does come in on the heels of a Polygon report that revealed Epic Games maintains its ability to do weekly content updates for Fortnite with severe work crunch. Employees have reported working anywhere between 70-100 hours a week. Some employees have even been fired for missing deadlines after choosing to not work weekends, which further cultivates a culture where working long hours is expected of all employees."Our intention was to always be seasonal, so we're kind of staying with that," Zampella saidin an interview with Gamasutra. "The thought was 'Hey, we kind of have something that's blowing up here, do we want to start trying to drop more content?' But I think you look at quality of life for the team. We don't want to overwork the team, and drop the quality of the assets we're putting out. We want to try and raise that."Zampella explained that the plan for Apex Legends was always going to be from season to season, despite the popularity of Fortnite thanks in large part to its weekly updates. However, Zampella did admit that Respawn is still figuring out the pacing for new content in Apex Legends. For now, the length of Apex Legends' seasons is a "total guess," and there's a chance they could either be made shorter or longer in the future.Respawn knows Season 1 was too light on new content, Zampella continued, and the developer already has plans to provide a much larger offering in Season 2. "All the resources on the team are focused on getting this game in a better position so it plays well, so we have enough content, so the seasons are better," Zampella said.Apex Legends is available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. In our Apex Legends review, Phil Hornshaw wrote, "Apex Legends is a mix of smart shooter ideas that makes for a competitive, team-based game that gets at all the best parts of battle royale while addressing a lot of the weaknesses. Respawn's intense focus on team play makes Apex more than just a worthy addition to the genre; it's an indicator of where battle royale should go in the future."Info from Gamespot.com

There is another Men In Black movie trailer, and as you probably know, this time, the film is international. Titled Men In Black: International, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson star as alien-hunting buddy cop agents. This go around, the threat is large enough to risk taking down the MiB from the inside out.The new trailer gives us our first look major look into the story, including the origins of Thompson's Agent M. Her family apparently had an alien encounter that was cleaned up by the MiB when she was a child. Her parents' memories were erased but M's weren't, and she's spent her life tracking the MiB down to join their ranks. She's put on a mission to London with Hemsworth's Agent H to root out a malicious alien force called The Hive--intergalactic shape shifters who can turn into anything or anyone, including the MiB agents. The agency has been compromised and now H and M have to deal with it.That's right--the MiB is facing off against...well, Skrulls, basically. It looks like this Marvel Cinematic Universe reunion is going a little deeper than we thought.MiB: International is directed by F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious, Straight Outta Compton) and also stars Silicon Valley alum Kumail Nanjiani and Mission Impossible: Fallout's Rebecca Ferguson. It will hit theaters later this summer on June 14. Info from Gamespot.com
