In addition to the Elvis Presley biopic starring Austin Butler, there is a new, wackier-sounding project in the works inspired by the King of Rock and Roll. Netflix has announced a new show, Agent King, which is described as an "adult animated comedy" in which Elvis becomes recruited by a secret government program to take down the forces of evil. The public is none the wiser, as the legendary performer continues to wow crowds of adoring fans while saving the world.Agent King is produced by King's ex-wife Priscilla Presley, who is also the chairwoman of Elvis Presley Enterprises. Singer John Eddie is also involved with the project, which is being produced by the Sony Pictures Animation (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Smurfs).Thrilled to partner with @netflix on adult action/comedy series Agent King, in which Elvis Presley is covertly inducted into a secret government spy program to battle the forces that threaten the country he loves - all while holding down his day job as the King of Rock and Roll! pic.twitter.com/7r7zaONooz — Sony Pictures Animation (@SonyAnimation) August 16, 2019Mike Arnold--who wrote for Archer--is the showrunner, writer, and executive producer on Agent King. Famous menswear designer John Varvatos will create the model for Elvis' entire wardrobe for Agent King.Netflix officially announced Agent King today, August 16, which is the 42nd anniversary of Elvis' death in 1977."From the time Elvis was a young boy he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world! Agent King lets him do just that," Priscilla Presley said in a statement (via Deadline). "My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven't seen before."There is no word yet on when Agent King will premiere or who will voice Elvis in the series. As for the Elvis biopic, it opens in theatres on October 1, 2021; Tom Hanks also stars as Elvis' longtime manager Col. The indie platformer A Hat In Time released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2017, but now the game is preparing for renewed life with its Nintendo Switch debut. The throwback to classic 3D platformers will be available on October 18 for $40, and pre-orders for the physical copy are now available through Amazon.A Hat In Time ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013, promising a "3D collect-a-thon platformer" in the vein of Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64. The Nintendo Switch version is coming later than the others, but given that it's an homage to the classics of Nintendo platforms, fans may have been waiting for the Switch version. The game received generally positive reviews on GameSpot sister site Metacritic, including good marks from GameSpot's A Hat In Time review. Kallie Plagge said that the first world was uninspired, but after that the game came into its own with charming, low-impact exploration and doodad-collecting."A Hat in Time is slow to start, but it's brimming with the charm and collectible-finding joy of classic 3D platformers," she wrote. "Collectibles are both fun to find and help guide you to the game's best secrets, and seeing everything there is to see is its own reward. The platforming isn't particularly challenging, nor does it do anything especially new, but A Hat in Time's cleverly themed worlds and witty quips lend it a more contemporary feel that's just right for satisfying a 3D platforming craving." It's been a big week for Destiny 2. A livestream and a series of big blog posts from director Luke Smith have given new details about the changes coming from Shadowkeep. Now weekend vendor Xur is giving us something else to care about: For the first time, Xur is offering an Exotic that's newer than the set dropped in the Forsaken expansion. You've got the weekend to grab Stronghold, an Exotic from the Season of the Drifter, if you haven't gotten it from a random drop while playing.Where Is Xur?Xur has come to Titan for his weekly excursion through the solar system. Land at the transmat zone on The Rig and then head north toward the Hive-corrupted area at the top of the map. Look for Xur in a low building to your left, near the edge of the platform. What Is Xur Selling? As most players know by now, Xur brings four main items to sell each weekend: an Exotic weapon and three pieces of Exotic armor, one specific to each character class. If you need something Xur isn't carrying, you can also buy a Fated Engram, which will guarantee you an Exotic you don't already have--but only from the first year of Destiny 2 content or Forsaken. It's also a much more expensive item, so be warned. Anything that has come from the Annual Pass expansions over the last year won't be in the Fated Engram pool, so make sure you know what you need before you buy. You can also grab a Five of Swords card, which lets you adjust Nightfall runs for higher scores, and an Invitation of the Nine from the Season of the Drifter if you haven't completed them all yet.Telesto (Exotic grenade launcher) -- 29 Legendary ShardsAeon Swift (Exotic Hunter gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsVerity's Brow (Exotic Warlock helmet) -- 23 Legendary ShardsStronghold (Exotic Titan gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsTelestoXur's weapon this week is a fusion rifle everyone should have: Telesto. The energy the gun fires sticks to enemies and objects, only to explode slightly later. It's great for catching people unawares in the Crucible, and it's often a great weapon to bring to bear in PvE activities, as well.Aeon SwiftHunters have what is probably the best roll of the weekend, but with the weakest Exotic. Aeon Swift offers ability energy to your teammates when you use your Dodge ability, and the bonus energy is higher if they're also wearing Aeon Exotics. Unfortunately, not many people do--but if you've got a Fireteam that wants to support each other, this Aeon's Enhanced Hand Cannon Loader roll is a strong perk to bring along.Rolls:Slot 1: Impact Induction, Enhanced Hand Cannon Loader, Machine Gun LoaderSlot 2: Rocket Launcher Scavenger, Special Ammo FinderVerity's BrowXur's offering for Warlocks also allows you to support your teammates. The Verity's Brow helmet increases your grenade recharge rate when you get Energy weapon kills. If allies are nearby when you snag those kills, they get a grenade recharge rate boost, too.Rolls:Slot 1: Scout Rifle Targeting, Heavy Lifting, Energy Weapon TargetingSlot 2: Fusion Rifle Reserves, Grenade Launcher ReservesStrongholdTitans are the lucky ones yet again this week. For the first time, Xur is offering an Exotic from a season in the Annual Pass--the Season of the Drifter, to be exact. Up until now, he's only offered things from Year One or the Forsaken expansion. Stronghold is all about using swords: It allows you to guard with a sword indefinitely without using sword ammo, and lets you move faster while guarding. Any shots you block immediately after you raise your guard will also heal you.Rolls:Slot 1: Sidearm Loader, Light Arms Loader, Rifle LoaderSlot 2: Linear Fusion Rifle Scavenger, Shotgun ScavengerInfo from Gamespot.com

Earlier this year, developer Chucklefish served up its own take on Nintendo's Advance Wars with Wargroove. After sitting on the market for half a year, the critically-acclaimed tactics game will see a physical Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 release later this fall.Publisher Sold Out is teaming up with Chucklefish on a retail package called the Wargroove Deluxe Edition, which includes a variety of goodies. For $30 USD / $44 AUD / £25 GBP on PS4 or $40 USD / $59 AUD / £33 GBP on Switch, the Deluxe Edition comes bundled with a physical copy of Wargroove, a download of the game's official soundtrack, a sticker pack, a poster map of the game's world, a strategy manual with unit stats and tips (in a bunch of different languages), and a reversible coversheet. No definitive release date has been provided, but Chucklefish has assured that a date will be "revealed once we're further along in manufacturing." According to Chucklefish, Wargroove Deluxe Edition is expected to hit "good ol' brick and mortar stores later this fall," though no specific stores have been named. In our Wargroove review, we said, "Chucklefish could have offered up a prettied-up take on Advance Wars with online multiplayer and called it a day. Instead, it's made meaningful improvements that make this both a satisfying answer to starved Advance Wars fans' wishes and a genuinely great experience on its own merits."Info from Gamespot.com

Studio Wildcard's dinosaur game Ark: Survival Evolved is one of gaming's biggest success stories in recent years. By the developer's latest count, it's sold 16 million copies across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, with ten million more installs on mobile where it's free.Part of what makes the game's ongoing success so noteworthy is that the title does not offer loot boxes or skins, instead opting to sell big, premium expansions that help the game enjoy sustained revenue that funds future development.Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak told GI.biz that Ark enjoys a "sustainable revenue model" by way of launching one or two major "premium updates" each year."We don't sell skins, we don't sell upgrade packs," he said. "But Ark is an online game with official servers and a lot of costs to keep the game running. It's important to us to always be bringing in new players, and part of that is creating new content for the existing ones so they bring in their friends."Ark has welcomed three expansions to date: Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction. The next big one is called Genesis, and it will be released in two parts starting in Fall 2020.Rapczak said he feels "a little bit justified" about the decision to release premium expansions instead of chasing microtransactions like many other big games do. "It feels good when people want to pay for what you're creating, rather than them feeling like they're getting nickeled, dimed and swindled a little, which is I think what happens when you have loot boxes and tack on those mechanics to something they've already paid for," he said.Free-to-play mechanics in full-price games can be problematic and challenging--for players and the developer alike, Rapczak said."If players have already paid for the game and you're adding on these sorts of free-to-play mechanics, it's kind of annoying," he said. "And you're also doubling your work, because you have to make sure the base game is great enough that people want to spend money on it, and then you also have to figure out how to entice them to spend further money on the game. I guess that's why the big companies like EA, Ubisoft and whoever are willing to tackle that, but there's been a lot of issues with that. For indies and medium-sized companies, it's not the thing to try and pursue."Microtransaction systems, while controversial, can be big business. For example, NBA 2K19 was sharply criticized for its use of microtransactions, but the game went on to become the best-selling NBA 2K game ever, with its microtransaction revenue rising 140%. Just recently, Destiny 2 developer Bungie explained how microtransactions are good for the game.Info from Gamespot.com

Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online have lots of secrets to discover, and now dedicated fans have found yet another one of them. The new Diamond Casino update for GTA Online contains a special mission that is apparently only accessible by getting really, really drunk. As explained by Kotaku, here's how it works: First, you must own a penthouse in the Diamond Casino because that's how you get the ability to play story missions through the update. After you've done that, visit the public bar or your own penthouse bar and starting knocking back shots of Macbeth Whisky. The goal here is to get so wasted that you black out and wake up somewhere else. You can wake up in all manner of different places, so the trick with this Easter Egg seems to be to simply keep destroying your character's liver with booze until you trigger the mission. Try enough times and you may eventually wake up outside, far away from the Casino, with paramedics tending to you after your big night of partying. The casino manager calls you and asks, "So, how's the hangover?" In your drunken stupor you borrowed a Pisswasser beer truck and the manager, Ms. Baker, says she'll be more forgiving if you bring it back to her at the Casino. She also cracks a joke about how you were such a drunken jerk without ever saying a word, which is a reference to how GTA Online characters do not speak.Complete the mission and Ms. Baker says to you, "Congratulations. Your damage limitation skills are second to none."The reward for completing the mission is the ability to take on more missions. Check out the video above from YouTube user Ice InfluX to see the secret mission in action. A second secret Casino mission was also discovered, and--you guessed it--it also involves getting sloshed.GTA Online's Diamond Casino update launched at the end of July, and it's proven to be wildly popular. After the update was released, GTA Online had its most players ever, which is a remarkable achievement given that the game was released in 2013.Info from Gamespot.com

Brightburn, the darkest, most violent, and adult superhero movie you may ever see, is about to arrive on DVD, Blu-ray, and UHD on August 20. And if you're interested in the home release, there is also an ill-advised drinking game you can play while watching it.The movie follows an adopted child who is actually from space who develops superpowers akin to Superman. During his middle-school years, these powers awaken, and the movie takes a horrific turn. During the audio commentary on the home release of Brightburn, director David Yarovesky is joined by cinematographer Michael Dallatorre and costume designer Autumn Steed. At one moment in the movie, Elizabeth Banks' character Tori Breyer is looking for her son, Brandon, during the middle of the night. She ends up saying his name quite a bit. "We should have played a game where every time someone says the word 'Brandon' in this movie, we take a shot," said Yarovesky.Just to put this game into perspective, we first see Brandon in home videos at the two and a half minute mark. In the following 10 minutes of the movie, his name is said 12 times. If you've seen Brightburn, then you know the main character's name is said a lot, so we don't suggest playing this game, as you will be inebriated before act one is over.In addition to the audio commentary, the home release of Brightburn also contains numerous featurettes on subjects like mixing horror and the superhero genre, creating the character, and social vignettes.Brightburn on Blu-ray$20 ($35)See on AmazonIn his review of Brightburn, GameSpot's Mike Rougeau said, "Brightburn wants to be a rebuttal to the drippy sentimentality of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it fails to understand one key reason why the superhero genre is beloved by millions. The heroic capacity to do good on a large scale is inherently fantastical; many people go through life feeling helpless to affect positive change in the world, despite good intentions. In contrast, doing evil on a large scale is all too easy. There's nothing enjoyable about watching someone with great power do what actual mass murderers have done countless times in real life: unapologetically kill a lot of people."You can own Brightburn for yourself when it comes to UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, August 20.Some links to supporting retailers are automatically made into affiliate links, and GameSpot may receive a small share of those sales.Info from Gamespot.com

Another round of PC games are free for Epic Games Store users this week, and they're good ones. Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is free to claim now, and because it's an M-rated game that may be blocked behind parental control settings for some players, Epic is also giving away Hyper Light Drifter. To claim the free games, all you need is a free Epic account if you don't already have one. Once you add the games to your account, they're yours to keep.Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden places you in a post-apocalyptic world where nature has taken over the earth and only mutants are left to scavenge and survive. Together with your team of mutants, you'll explore the fallen world, using stealth and turn-based, tactical combat to take down enemies. The game earned a 9/10 in our Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden review."Juggling all the demands of combat, from patiently surveying the field beforehand through to learning how to best counter each enemy type and improvising a new strategy when it all goes horribly wrong, make for an immensely satisfying tactical experience," wrote critic David Wildgoose. An action-adventure RPG influenced by 16-bit classics and Studio Ghibli films, Hyper Light Drifter follows a character known as the Drifter, who wields an energy sword and utilizes other special abilities to defeat monsters. Similar to Journey, there's no dialogue; the story is conveyed more through visuals and music. The game also earned a 9/10 in GameSpot's Hyper Light Drifter review."Hyper Light Drifter's setting is so beautiful, so haunting, that I long to know all I can about it," wrote Kevin VanOrd. "I wish to hear the stories its citizens tell of the world it once was, and the one it might become. I want to hear the music that they sing, and see the places they have been. As stunning as it is, Hyper Light Drifter's greatest triumph isn't in the story that it tells, but in the stories that it doesn't. I don't know this place's entire history, but its desolate elegance inspires me to fill in the gaps myself."Get this week's free games at EpicBoth Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden and Hyper Light Drifter will be free to claim from Epic until Thursday, August 22, when they'll be replaced by Epic's next freebie, Gomez.Info from Gamespot.com

The Halo app for Windows is no longer operational. Microsoft announced on its website that the app--which served as a hub for Halo news, game stats, and more--was officially decommissioned on August 16.Microsoft decided to shut down the Halo app for Windows because it was "no longer a key component of our future plans and aspirations.""As the 343 Team looks ahead and works on the future of Halo, we periodically take stock of everything we currently operate and support across the entire franchise ecosystem. As time goes by, various applications and services fall out of scope and are de-prioritized as they are no longer a key component of our future plans and aspirations," Microsoft said. "Ceasing support and operation of these legacy offerings frees up resources that can be re-deployed on better services for the future."All of the content hosted on the Halo app for Windows can now be found on the Halo website--Halowaypoint.com and also Halo.gg. In addition to Halo news, the Halo app hosts game stats for Halo Wars 2, and these will continue to populate until February 16, 2020. However, all of these stats can also be seen in Halo Wars 2 itself and on Halo Waypoint. The Halo app for Windows also served as the launcher for Halo Wars 2 and Halo 5: Forge. However, players will now need to launch the games from the client. "Please note that this will have zero impact to your ability to play and enjoy these games and has no impact on performance," Microsoft said.In discussing the Halo app's usage, Microsoft only said that "a number of people" used it over the years, which makes it sound like it was not very popular."We hope the content it delivered helped to enrich your enjoyment of all things Halo," Microsoft said. "We appreciate your support and look forward to bigger and better things in the future."In other Halo news, Microsoft also announced this week that it would no longer release new updates for Halo Wars 2 as the team moves on to other projects.Microsoft's Halo development team, 343 Industries, continues to work on Halo: The Master Chief Collection (including bringing it to PC), in addition to the next mainline instalment Halo Infinite.Info from Gamespot.com

We all understand, in one way or another, that DC's continuity is--well--complicated. Between the Crises and the reboots and the rebrands, things can be a little daunting to process if you look too far beyond the surface level--which is why teams like Legion Of The Super-Heroes can cause some headaches, especially for people who aren't completely immersed in the weirdest and most arcane corners of DC history.Don't panic if you've never even heard of them--they haven't been around for a while. After a prolonged first run that officially kicked off back in the late '50s, the Legion has enjoyed off-and-on publication over the decades with the most recent volume wrapping up back in 2015, so they haven't actually seen the light of day in any official capacity for a while. And, lack of spotlight aside, the Legion is a team burdened with their own baggage. Naming members of the Justice League is pretty easy, even for someone who's never picked up a comic in their life--but the Legion's roster is notoriously more complicated, and stacked to the brim with names that most likely won't sound familiar like Timberwolf, Bouncing Boy, Shrinking Violet, and Lightning Lass. Some may be more familiar, especially to fans of the CW's Supergirl show, which has developed live-action incarnations for other Legionnaires like Mon-El, Dream Girl, and Brainiac 5--but given just how deep the Legion's typical roster goes, with average team size usually sitting somewhere in the 20s, if not the 30s, the new faces will undoubtedly outnumber the old. But, with any luck, that won't be the case for too much longer, even for the fan who has never encountered the Legion before this moment. DC is bringing a brand new, completely rebooted incarnation of the team to shelves from the minds of all-star creators Brian Michael Bendis and Ryan Sook, who hope to introduce the Legion to a new generation of readers--even if that means having to overcome some of the inherent challenges of a team with such tricky, deep-cut-fueled history.GameSpot spoke with Bendis one-on-one to hear exactly what he hopes his brand new Legion #1 will do for new readers of the series--and, perhaps more importantly, what the new comic actually is."Here's the pitch," Bendis laughed. "It's a thousand years in the future, and the galaxy finds itself in turmoil. So one teenager from each planet of the United Planets gets together, and creates the ultimate super team of superheroes, specifically living the ideals and experience of the 21st century age of heroes. They're bringing back the idea of heroes to inspire the entire galaxy to be its best self, the way Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman did a thousand years ago."He continued, "[this is] a tale of the greatest team of superheroes, the biggest team of superheroes, coming together to bring about peace through understanding and love and adventure."But the fun and the adventure is only a small part of the equation, he added. "For those of us who have already experienced Legion, you know it's like nothing else in comics. It's a very unique experience. It's very dense. It's very exciting. It's like almost next level, and why people are so jazzed online about it is because we're in that time right now where there's a new generation of superhero fans who, because of [movies like Avengers: Endgame] and all the stuff that we've experienced, think they've seen it all, and we know they haven't. We know like, 'Oh no, no, no, no, there's more.'"If that sounds like a daunting prospect, especially in the wake of a pop culture mega-event like Endgame, don't panic. The team at DC doesn't plan on throwing anyone into the deep end unsupervised. "We have a special thing we're publishing called Legion of Super-Heroes Millennium. It's a two-issue special event, and inside it, a character from today is going to discover that she stopped aging and didn't know it. And now is going to be walking us a thousand years into the future, stopping by some very pivotal moments in DC's future," Bendis said. "And, we're going to stop by Kamandi by Andrea Sorrentino, and Batman Beyond, and Booster Gold, by Nicola Scott, and we're going to walk right up to the Legion's front door."And if two-issue specials aren't your thing--or, perhaps, if you're already spending time reading mainline books like Batman or Superman--Bendis has a solution for you as well. "The Legion's actually going to debut very soon in Superman 14, where they're going to offer to a member of the Superman family to come join them, which is very much in the tradition of the Legion--even though this Legion that we're seeing, because of all the way the DC universe works, this is actually the first time the Legion of Super-Heroes has ever appeared."He laughed, continuing, "So anyone reading our stuff today about the Legion of Super-Heroes, every character is meeting them for the first time. They see a brand-new situation for the reader. That's as reader-friendly as it gets."Beyond welcoming new Legion readers into the fold, Bendis hopes the team will help bring the real message of superhero comics into the spotlight. "I must say that, I know there's a lot of people right now, feel very frustrated with the world's energy and stuff. People who've been reading comics, you can see them online just enjoying their time in a fictional world of hope, where good guys win and bad guys lose. And it's been just a joy to tell stories to people who are desperately in need of them. And so if you're looking for that, come join us. That's what comics are all about."Legion Of The Super-Heroes Millenium #1 hits shelves on September 4 and Superman #14 arrives on August 28. Info from Gamespot.com
