The first poster for The Mandalorian has been revealed. The first ever live-action Star Wars TV show will premiere on Disney+ on November 12, which is the launch day of the upcoming streaming platform. It's a simple but stylish poster, that shows the main character, a lone gunman played by Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) walking away from his ship on a desert planet with the sun setting--or possibly rising--behind him. The character's Mandalorian armor will be very familiar to fans, as it's the same type as worn by Boba and Jango Fett in the Star Wars movies. Check it out below. The Mandalorian, the first live-action Star Wars series, only on #DisneyPlus. Fortnite: Battle Royale's overpowered mechs have finally been cut down a peg or two. An update recently went live for the multiplayer shooter, introducing sweeping changes that nerf the B.R.U.T.E. mech's powerful weaponry and expansive movement. The new mech has been a source of much chagrin in the Fortnite community since its introduction at the beginning of Season 10. An earlier patch reduced the frequency with which the mech would appear in competitive game modes, and Epic followed this up by explaining that they added the controversial vehicle to help players who were struggling to win. After further outcry, however, Epic has now addressed some of the player base's vocal concerns. The mech hasn't been vaulted as many had hoped, but this is a positive step in the right direction. In a blog post last night, Epic detailed the balance adjustments recently applied to the pesky metal killing machines. The B.R.U.T.E.s now fire six rockets in a single charge as opposed to 10, and have seen the blast radius shrink by 42%. Rockets also now fire 56% slower, which Epic says will "allow the players on the receiving end of the missile volley to have more time to react and protect themselves." The developer added that "B.R.U.T.E.s will continue to be a strong option against structures, but less lethal against players."In terms of movement, the dash cooldown has been increased by two seconds, while boosting in the air will give you decreased velocity by 33%. "The adjustment here reduces the ability to close gaps quickly while in the B.R.U.T.E. while also increasing the ability to land shots on target for players facing the B.R.U.T.E.," Epic added. "In general we hope to shift B.R.U.T.E.s away from being highly mobile and put more emphasis on their already defensive nature."The B.R.U.T.E. no longer grants materials to the driver and passenger when stomping or dashing through the environment, either. "Our goal is to add more tension between being in and out of a B.R.U.T.E. as well as reduce instances where players can farm faster than intended without exposing themselves to danger."Finally, mech spawn rates have been changed in Fortnite's core modes after the change was previously implemented in its competitive modes. There's now a possibility that no mechs will spawn at the beginning of each storm phase, and if they do there will be fewer than before. As a counter to all of these nerfs, the mech has also received some slight buffs. The material cost of using the gunner's overshield has been decreased from 200 to 75, and the mech's overall health has seen a slight boost from 1000 up to 1250. This plays into Epic's reworking of the mechs as a defensive vehicle. "With the above changes, users of the B.R.U.T.E. need to play a bit more strategic than before, so we want to give a little bit longer of a window to do so."These changes probably won't placate everyone, but they should hopefully lead to Fortnite matches feeling a little bit fairer. When Rod Fergusson appeared on stage to debut Gears Tactics at E3 2018, he called it "a true Gears of War PC experience in a completely different genre." That appeared to imply that it would be a PC exclusive, but now Fergusson has said that it's coming to Xbox too.In response to a fan on Twitter, Fergusson said that Splash Damage is working on the game. That studio is known for its work on Gears of War 4 and the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, so it has experience in the Gears universe. In response to a second question, whether the game will ever come to Xbox, he simply says "yes."Speaking about tactics, who's the team behind it?? Is it @CoalitionGears or a different studio?? And the second question will we ever get the game on Xbox?? — Jassem (@jassem73) August 21, 2019It’s a great team at @splashdamage and yes. — Rod Fergusson (@GearsViking) August 21, 2019The tweet seems self-explanatory, though it's notable that the one-word answer doesn't promise the Xbox version will launch alongside the PC version. It doesn't even necessarily promise the game for Xbox One, so there's a chance it could be targeting the next generation Xbox Scarlett. GameSpot has reached out to Microsoft for clarification.Targeting both platforms makes sense, though, as much of Microsoft's first-party line-up has been dual platform recently. It also would add value to the Xbox Game Pass, which gives access to both Xbox and PC games (plus a Gold subscription) with its "Ultimate" tier.Gears Tactics is a prequel that takes place 12 years before the first Gears of War game, and it was one of three Gears games that debuted at E3 2018. The other two were Gears Pop, a mobile game based on the cute collectibles that has just released recently, and Gears 5, the next numbered entry that is due in September.Info from Gamespot.com

The Mandalorian is one of the premium shows being offered at launch with the upcoming Disney+ streaming service. The series from producer Jon Favreau is introducing an original character within a familiar framework set by Boba Fett. Favreau explained his inspiration for the series came from his fascination with the grungy parts of the Star Wars universe that have gone less explored."I'm trying to evoke the aesthetics of not just the original trilogy but the first film. Not just the first film but the first act of the first film," Favreau told THR. "What was it like on Tatooine? What was going on in that cantina? That has fascinated me since I was a child, and I love the idea of the darker, freakier side of Star Wars, the Mad Max aspect of Star Wars."Favreau says he actually approached Disney about the series, not the other way around."I wrote four of the episodes before I even had a deal, because I wanted to do this but only if they wanted to do the version that I wanted to do," he said.To bring his vision to life, he's utilizing some of the same green screen techniques used in the prequels. He says George Lucas' work serves as the foundation for everything he's doing here, but noted that different types of storytelling demand different types of sets and effects. He's using these digital techniques because it suits the project, but it wouldn't be right for a larger episodic movie."When you see Lawrence of Arabia, how much of that is informed by really being there and not shooting it in Calabasas--I think you get a different movie," he said. "The way I work and the stories I'm telling are geared specifically toward what this technology has to offer, so I could not make Episode IX using these tools."The Mandalorian recently released its first poster, showing Pedro Pascal's armored antihero walking across a desert landscape with his ship in the background. It appears to be set on Tatooine, since the background has clearly visible Sandcrawlers and moisture vaporators. But it also shows the scale of the world and ship that Favreau mentioned. A trailer may be incoming soon as well, as part of Disney's annual D23 convention. The show will be one of several offerings available on day one of the Disney+ service. That streaming service will offer a host of movies from Disney's catalog, along with original series, for $7 per month or $70 per year. It will launch on November 12.Info from Gamespot.com

Bungie has announced a new upcoming Destiny 2 event, known as a Community Challenge, that will have the entire playerbase working together toward a set of goals. Guardians that decide to take them on will be heading to Mars, where the war against the Hive continues. According to a Bungie blog post, September's challenges are a good opportunity to prepare for Shadowkeep, where players will return to the Moon to fight the Hive.On Mars, Guardians will need to join forces to complete a Community Objective, which will be available starting September 3 at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT / 6 PM BST / 3 AM AEST on September 4. Bungie will also release a quality-of-life update on September 3 that will impact the Mars content, but the studio didn't go into detail about what this will entail. This allows players to continue developing their Guardians regardless of what platform they're playing on. Of course, the details of how to do this and full-extent of which characters you can shift around are a little more complicated, but we've got a detailed breakdown on how Destiny 2's cross-saves work.Somewhat expectedly, Destiny 2's cross-save rollout had some teething problems, but you should stick with it because it's a fantastic addition to the game.Info from Gamespot.com

The latest chapter in Battlefield V's Tides of War has introduced new content to the game over the past few months, including free maps, weapons, vehicles, and quality of life improvements. An adverse effect of all this new content, however, is that Chapter 4: Defying the Odds has also introduced a number of issues to the overall quality of the Battlefield V experience. As a result, the upcoming competitive 5v5 mode has become an unfortunate casualty. In a post detailing the current status of Battlefield V, DICE senior producer Ryan McArthur has provided an update on the studio's current commitments. "We've been hard at work to address these [issues] with several updates and will continue to do so until Battlefield V is where it should be," the post says. "We're fully committed to expanding and improving our core multiplayer experience. That's why fixing the issues is our highest priority. This commitment will be met by keeping our focus and resources invested in producing the great content our players deserve."The upcoming 4.4 update contains fixes for stuttering issues, desyncs seen on hitboxes, and tweaks to the Commo Rose. It will also deliver two new infantry maps and an increase in max Rank, allowing you to go beyond Rank 50 and start earning XP on a journey to Rank 500. Improving game stability, UI communication around damage, and other items the community has flagged will also be part of future updates. The recently released Al Sundan map is currently only available in Squad Conquest and Team Deathmatch, but will eventually make its way to large-scale modes such as Conquest. The reason for the delay is an unforeseen issue that accompanied Chapter 4, causing an unusual graphical problem when playing the larger version of the Al Sundan map. "The team is pushing to get the fix into our 4.6 release next month, but we can't confirm that just yet, as we first want to make sure the fix is working properly and won't create problems elsewhere, which has been the case with some past updates."Due to "the added focus on improving the quality of the experience and adding more of the content you want," McArthur says the upcoming 5v5 mode has been cancelled. "Not creating this mode was a tough decision, but vital for us to more quickly reach our bug-crushing and content goals." Despite this, DICE aims to continue building a competitive experience in Battlefield V.In more positive news, the infantry-only maps Provence and Lofoten Islands, are set to arrive in Battlefield V's 4.4 update. Both maps will initially feature two modes: Squad Conquest and Team Deathmatch. Looking ahead to update 4.6, meanwhile, sees the classic Operation Underground map arrive in Conquest, Team Deathmatch, Breakthrough, and Squad Conquest. The map is a reimagining of Operation Métro from 2011's Battlefield 3 and is being worked on by its original creator.Beyond this, DICE is returning to the Pacific in the future with two new Iwo Jima, as well as two other locations you'll deploy to before the end of the year. With cross-save now implemented in Destiny 2 and allowing players to seamlessly move between PS4, Xbox One, and PC (provided they own the necessary content on each), it's an exciting time for Guardians. But as always, regardless of whatever big events might be happening, Xur checks in each weekend to sell a randomized slate of Exotic items for Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks. Here's where to find Xur this time around, what he's selling, and what perks those items come equipped with. However, it's important to note that, thanks to the aforementioned cross-save, PC and Xbox One players now have an avenue for acquiring Forsaken's PS4-exclusive Exotic, Wavesplitter. Where Is Xur?As of August 23, Xur is located on Nessus. To reach him, simply spawn at the Watcher's Grave landing zone, hop on your sparrow, and head over toward Calus's barge. Jump aboard and make your way to the back, where all of the Menagerie chests are. You'll find Xur standing near the edge, ready to take your Legendary Shards. What Is Xur Selling?Xur has his standard slate, albeit with different items in the four key slots. He has an Exotic weapon--Arbalest--that is of little interest to anyone who already owns it. However, whereas there is no difference between each version of an individual Exotic weapon, there's reason to investigate the armor more closely. Because armor features randomized rolls, you might find that what Xur is selling offers better perks than the version you might already own. At the very least, these perks might better align with your playstyle. Or, if you don't already own these pieces, it's an easy opportunity to fill out your collection. Beyond the items, Xur also has the Five of Swords challenge card (to modify Nightfall difficulty) and an Invitation of the Nine (which provides you with some objectives and leads to a bit of new story content). And, as noted above, PC and Xbox One players can jump on PS4 and potentially get Wavesplitter from the Fated Engram.Xur Item Lineup (August 23-27)Arbalest (Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle) -- 29 Legendary ShardsCrown of Tempests (Exotic Warlock Helmet) -- 23 Legendary ShardsShinobu's Vow (Exotic Hunter Gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsAshen Wake (Exotic Titan Gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsArbalestArbalest is a linear fusion rifle which, on the surface, doesn't sound particularly notable. But what's unique about it is that this is a kinetic weapon, meaning it goes in your primary weapon slot. It's particularly effective against shields, and destroying a shield with it causes the enemy to take more damage from kinetic weapons. Plus, again: It's a linear fusion rifle that goes in your kinetic slot, and it's quite useful for invading in Gambit. Pick it up if you don't own it.Crown of TempestsRolls:Slot 1: Bow Targeting, Light Reactor, Machine Gun TargetingSlot 2: Fusion Rifle Reserves, Machine Gun ReservesShinobu's VowHunters can pick up Shinobu's Wake. It features New Tricks, which improves the Skip Grenade and gives you an extra charge with it. Dealing damage with a Skip Grenade also returns energy for it, letting you keep the grenades flying. It might be of use right now if you're trying to grind out grenade kills for Solstice of Heroes, which ends soon.Rolls:Slot 1: Submachine Gun Loader, Fastball, Momentum TransferSlot 2: Grenade Launcher Scavenger, Special Ammo FinderAshen WakeTitans get Ashen Wake, a set of gauntlets that, like Shinobu's Vow, is primarily concerned with improving a specific type of grenade. Bring the Heat causes Fusion Grenades to explode on impact, and you can throw them more quickly. It's another item that isn't terribly thrilling.Rolls:Slot 1: Linear Fusion Rifle Loader, Submachine Gun Loader, Momentum TransferSlot 2: Special Ammo Finder, Heavy Ammo FinderInfo from Gamespot.com

In the wake of negotiations that may end Disney and Sony's partnership--and take Spider-Man out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe altogether--at least one Marvel executive producer remains optimistic. Jon Favreau, who directed and produced the original Iron Man and has remained an executive producer through Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, says he's still holding out hope."After all that time, it took 10 years for him to get to a good relationship!" Favreau told ET. "It's still early days. As a fan, [I'm] cautiously hopeful that something will come together, because I think all the fans wanna see those characters together. ... Things don't always--what you read isn't always indicative of where things are now, so hopefully I'll find out more while I'm here. Holding out hope that this isn't the final chapter of that story."Favreau is certainly more plugged in to the workings of the MCU than the average fan, but he made sure to qualify his statements as hopeful and not insider knowledge. Another consequence of the deal falling apart, according to reports, is MCU head Kevin Feige will no longer serve as producer due to a dispute over financing and profits.Sony and Disney had reached a deal to allow Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while Sony still retained rights to the characters. Sony itself responded to the reports of the dispute, saying that the conflict had been "mischaracterized."Favreau is another notable Marvel name to come out publicly hoping for a resolution. Actor Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye, also sent a note asking Sony to bring back Spider-Man. Favreau himself is very active in the Disney corporation as a whole, having directed the recent Lion King live-action remake and currently heading up the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. He has also played Tony Stark's confidant Happy Hogan from the beginning, and appeared in the most recent Spider-Man film, Far From Home.Info from Gamespot.com

Destiny 2's newly implemented cross-save feature went live this week, and it's quite wonderful. Provided you own the necessary content on each platform, it allows you to take your Guardians from PS4 to Xbox One to PC, letting you enjoy the benefits of PC or play with friends on another platform. But it has an additional perk for those who have previously invested in the Xbox One or PC versions: the ability to get a new, PS4-exclusive Exotic weapon, Wavesplitter. As is customary on Fridays, Xur has arrived. And while he's always worth a visit (even if you already own every Exotic, the armor he sells might have better rolls than your version), cross-save brings a new benefit to Xur. In addition to directly selling four specific Exotics, Xur also allows players to purchase a Fated Engram, which decrypts into an Exotic you don't already own. Using cross-save, PC or Xbox One players can now jump into the PS4 version of the game and buy the Fated Engram. Provided you already have every other Exotic available to your character, this should guarantee your Engram turns into Wavesplitter. We've tested this ourselves, and sure enough, we got Wavesplitter on what had previously been a PC-only character.WavesplitterThis comes with two big caveats. One, cross-save requires you to own Destiny 2 and Forsaken on PS4 in order to acquire the gun. And two, Wavesplitter can't currently be used on PC or Xbox One. While you're free to equip it while on PS4, moving back to the other platforms will render it unusable. That will change later this year with a new update; one change we're seeing now that Bungie is in full control of the game is the ending of platform-exclusive content. For years, Destiny and Destiny 2 players on Xbox One (and, more recently, PC) have had to wait upwards of a year to receive content that launched on PS4 first. This has included strikes and Exotics like Wavesplitter, which came to PS4 alongside Forsaken last year. This Fated Engram trick of sorts is made possible through a change that happened earlier this year. Prior to an update, these Engrams were restricted to pre-Forsaken Exotics, but those added to the game as part of that expansion can now be acquired by buying the Engram. Exotics added to the game since then still must be obtained through normal means.Wavesplitter is a trace rifle, of which there are very few in the game. Holding down the trigger causes its damage to change over time. It's one of several pieces of Forsaken's PS4-exclusive content that Xbox One and PC owners can look forward to gaining access to sometime between now and the release of Shadowkeep on October 1.Info from Gamespot.com

One of Marvel's most recent hit characters is reportedly getting her own show on Disney's upcoming streaming service. Ms. Marvel aka Kamala Khan, the company's first Muslim superhero, is in the works. THR reports that British writer Bisha K. Ali attached as writer and showrunner. The announcement was made at Disney's D23 presentation, when Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said that viewers will be introduced to Kamala through the TV show, but then see her in the MCU movies. This is the first confirmation of a Disney+ Marvel character making the jump to the bigger screen, instead of vice versa.Just announced at #D23Expo: MS. MARVEL, an original series from Marvel Studios, only on Disney+. pic.twitter.com/4tuAOfVHKW — Marvel Entertainment (@Marvel) August 23, 2019Though the name "Ms. Marvel" has belonged to various heroes since the 1970s, Kamala Khan was introduced in 2013. The Pakistani American character opened up opportunities to explore themes of religious and cultural identity. Her powers allow her to change shape, and she's known for being a fan of superheroes within the Marvel universe, allowing for some meta-commentary.Kamala was added to the Marvel universe near other notable characters like Miles Morales as the Ultimate Spider-Man, and Spider-Gwen, an alternate version of Gwen Stacy in which she (rather than Peter Parker) was bitten by a radioactive spider. All three characters have become the faces of a new, younger Marvel universe.D23 is Disney's annual expo, full of news about its upcoming slate of entertainment projects, theme parks, and more. The MCU just can't seem to stop collecting replacement Starks. First, Richard Madden signed up as Ikaris, a member of the upcoming Phase 4 movie The Eternals, as confirmed during Marvel Studios' massive San Diego Comic-Con panel this year. Now, as D23 Expo gets rolling, yet another alumni has reportedly been added to the mix--Kit Harington is turning his sword and dire wolf in for spandex, according to Deadline.Which project Harington is reportedly joining is a mystery, but if it's going to happen in Marve'ls Phase 4, The Eternals seems like a likely candidate--not just because of his former on-screen brother's involvement, but because The Eternals is the only Phase 4 project with a confirmed ensemble cast at the moment. Other projects in the lineup include solo movies for characters like Dr. Strange and Black Widow, as well as solo streaming TV shows for the upcoming Disney+ service like Hawkeye and Loki. Otherwise, the slate has been left conspicuously team-less.However, there is of course the possibility for Harington to be a part in an as-of-yet unannounced project. After all, Marvel Studio's panels and presence at D23 has only just begun, and already reports of new projects, like a Disney+ show centered around Kamala Khan, have come trickling in.Info from Gamespot.com

The quickest way to describe Ghostrunner is how developer One More Level runs it down: It's a cyberpunk marrying of Mirror's Edge and Dishonored, with a little bit of Superhot. Ghostrunner takes a lot of the best ideas of those titles and mixes them together into a smaller package, but one that's no less exhilarating. It nails its most essential element--fast, fluid traversal--while distilling some of the best things about its influences. We played about 10 minutes of the first-person melee title at Gamescom, where we got a sense of just how fast and frenetic it can get. You play a "cyber-warrior," some sort of human-cyborg suddenly revived by a voice in your head called Whisperer who asks for your help and gives you cool software upgrades in return. You pull a spiffy futuristic sword and start running through the well-guarded rooms of the Tower, humanity's last shelter after some world-wrecking cataclysm. If you hope to survive, you need to platform your way across the Tower's architecture, slicing through guards and dodging incoming gunshots. The rooms you pass through are populated with plenty of guards, all of whom can take you down easily with just one shot. Your main weapon for beating them is your mobility; you can sprint at a relatively high speed, run along walls and leap between them, mantle most ledges you encounter, and fire a grappling beam to help you cross gaps where you would otherwise fall short. You can also do a short high-speed dash, which helps you make longer jumps or avoid incoming shots. Hold down the dash button and you get a brief moment of slowed time, which allows you to control the direction you move to get out of the way of lethal fire. And while one hit means death and restarting an encounter, you also only need to land one slash of your sword to take down an enemy. As mentioned, the movement systems feel a lot like what's at play in Mirror's Edge or the Titanfall games. But Ghostrunner also takes a page from titles like Superhot or Hotline Miami, with any hit you take killing you. Because you can drop instantly from one wrong move, each enemy encounter becomes a puzzle. You need to figure out how to move around a room to close the gap on enemies so you can slice them up, picking your routes and your targets to help you avoid getting blasted by someone else that you can't see or don't expect. It's the fluidity that makes Ghostrunner so fun, at least in the 10 minutes we played on the Gamescom floor. You might die a few times in any given room, but forgiving checkpoints and super-fast loads mean you're right back at the start of the encounter, ready to run it again. A lot of the challenge in each of these encounters is learning room layouts and enemy locations through trial and error, while developing the skills to improvise on the fly. On the whole, Ghostrunner feels great to play because it's pretty fast and extremely smooth, and when you a wall-run into a slide under a barrier before dashing past a bullet and slashing through an enemy, it's extremely satisfying. One More Level co-founder and producer Radostaw Ratusznik said games like Mirror's Edge, Titanfall, and Dishonored are the sort of titles he and the team like to play, which is why they decided to make a riff on those titles with Ghostrunner. The game is also an outgrowth of the studio's last title, God's Trigger, which drew more inspiration from titles like Hotline Miami and Ape Out. Ghostrunner brings the ideas of hyper-violent puzzle solving to a first-person perspective, instead of the top-down one of God's Trigger, and adds a ton of speed and traversal capabilities. The demo also gave us a quick sense of the story of Ghostrunner. Whisperer, the character on the radio leading you through the demo, turns out to be the artificial intelligence of the Tower, based on the mind of its creator. You've been enlisted to help rebels fight the new leaders of the Tower who imprisoned Whisperer, but by the end of the demo, you learn the AI has its own agenda and might not be as friendly as it first appears.Ghostrunner is slated for release sometime in 2020. One More Level is currently focusing on the game's story campaign, which Ratusznik expects to be about five hours--more or less, depending on your skill level. But he also said the team is thinking about ways to leverage Ghostrunner's natural affinity for elements like speedruns. Nothing's set yet, but the game might yet see features like leaderboards that will let you test your running, leaping, and slicing skills against other players on your friends list.
