Following months of speculation, Nintendo has confirmed that Overwatch is coming to Nintendo Switch. The company made the announcement as part of its Nintendo Direct presentation. Overwatch: Legendary Edition releases for Nintendo Switch on October 15. It costs $40 USD, comes with three months of Nintendo Switch Online, and is currently available for pre-order at Best Buy. It's important to note that the game is only available as a digital download, and there won't be any physical game card included.Overwatch: Legendary Edition$40Pre-order at Best BuyOverwatch director Jeff Kaplan said in 2017 that porting the game to the Nintendo Switch would be challenging, but noted that the studio was open to the possibility. Then last year Blizzard senior producer Pete Stilwell said the work on Diablo 3 had helped familiarize the studio with the platform.More recently the rumors have gained steam thanks to a series of leaks. First an Overwatch-themed Switch case appeared briefly on Amazon, which suggested a port incoming. Most recently a leak that turned out to be legitimate for Plants vs. Zombies suggested that other games were real too, and Overwatch was on that list. After a surprising reveal during E3 2019, Nintendo has unveiled when Banjo-Kazooie will join the ever-growing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. The bear-bird duo is now available as the latest DLC fighter(s), the company announced during its Nintendo Direct. The pair joins the likes of Persona 5's Joker and Dragon Quest's Hero, who released in April and July, respectively. All three characters are part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighter Pass Bundle, which retails for $25 USD / $37 AUD / £20 GBP. Both Hero and Joker run for $6 USD / $8 AUD / £5 GBP individually, so it's likely Banjo-Kazooie will cost the same for those who don't own or want the entire Fighter Pass. Piranha Plant, the party-fighter's first DLC character, was available for free for a limited time before charging $5 USD / $7 AUD / £4 GBP, the cheapest of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's DLC fighters so far. With the addition of Banjo-Kazooie, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster is now larger than ever. Boasting a total of 76 fighters at launch--74 if you count Pokemon Trainer as one fighter--the party-fighter now features 80 characters in total, and there are still two more planned DLC characters for the Fighter Pass. The next of these will come from Fatal Fury. After that, even more fighters have been confirmed to be on the way, too, albeit with no specifics. If you happen to have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can access a new Super Smash Bros. Nintendo's 40-minute-long Direct presentation has officially wrapped up. Among the few surprise releases, including the newly-released Super Kirby Clash, the company revealed that Deadly Premonition hits the Nintendo Switch later today.Re-released as Deadly Premonition Origins, the game launches on Nintendo Switch for $30 USD. In the open-world survival horror game, you guide FBI agent Francis York Morgan as he, and his mysterious friend Zach, set out to uncover the truth of a serial murder that occurs in the small North America town of Greenvale. In our Deadly Premonition review, we said, "Deadly Premonition is not a lovely game, or a refined one. It's easy to dismiss it for its bad looks, its ancient control scheme, and its general user-unfriendliness. But this is a case in which the bigger picture dwarfs the flaws and the foibles. And Deadly Premonition is certainly different. It has its ups and downs, but the one direction you'll most associate with this flawed and unique game is sideways."In other news from the Nintendo Direct, popular hero shooter Overwatch is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch next month. 2018 saw one of the most intriguing adventure games in recent years with 3909's Return of the Obra Dinn. Though it was only available for PC, the September Nintendo Direct has revealed that it's now coming to consoles for the first time--specifically, on Nintendo Switch.Though no official date has been announced, it will be arriving in Fall 2019. There's no word on any additions or improvements being made for this version of the game.Last year, GameSpot picked Return of the Obra Dinn as one of the best games of 2018. In reviews editor Kallie Plagge, "Best known for 2013's Papers, Please, developer Lucas Pope has a knack for crafting memorable and evocative games that engage your deductive reasoning. His latest game, Return of the Obra Dinn, once again puts you in an administrative role--you're an insurance adjuster for the East India Company in the early 19th century--and tasks you with identifying who or what a person is based on limited information. In this case, you have to discover the fates of all 60 crew members and passengers aboard the Obra Dinn, which was lost at sea only to drift back to harbor several years later with no one on board alive."For more on the recent Nintendo Direct, check back with GameSpot for more updates.
