If you watched the first episode of HBO's Watchmen series and felt somewhat lost, it's probably not only because Damon Lindelof is at the helm (co-creator of Lost and The Leftovers). The TV series takes place 34 years after Alan Moore's and Dave Gibbons' original comic series. Though not a direct sequel, it certainly helps to have an understanding of the source material while watching, and it just so happens that the Watchmen graphic novel is available for an excellent price at Amazon right now.Watchmen (2019 Edition)See at AmazonDC Comics released a new 2019 edition of the incredible graphic novel earlier this year. Amazon currently has it for $15, a full $10 off the list price. While books in general typically go for lower than the list price at Amazon, Watchmen was a couple bucks more just the other day; so the $15 price is in fact one of the best prices we've seen.Watchmen (Deluxe Edition)See at AmazonIf you prefer a hardcover edition, the Watchmen Deluxe Edition is also on sale for $24.98 (was $40). The Deluxe Edition is 32 pages longer thanks to bonus material such as sketches.Originally a 12-issue limited series, DC Comics turned Watchmen into a single-volume in 1987. Watchmen has been celebrated by both those in and outside of the comic book world. It received the Hugo award and was the only graphic novel to appear on Time Magazine's list of 100 best novels.Set in 1985, Watchmen follows six retired superheroes in an alternate history United States on the brink of World War III. In this universe, the US won the Vietnam War and the public never found out about Watergate. When one of the heroes is murdered, the others come out of retirement to investigate. The seemingly straightforward plot is enhanced by an innovative panel structure, a nonlinear arc, and a side story that's spliced into the narrative.Whether you want to read it for the first time or feel like revisiting it because of the show, Watchmen is a masterpiece that's well worth your time.Info from Gamespot.com

Due to "unprecedented demand," London's new pop-up Pokemon Center has been forced to take new measures to cope with the tidal wave of people looking to purchase a plush bowler-hat wearing Pikachu, among other London-themed Pokemon items. The store, which is located at the Westfield London shopping centre, has reduced shop opening hours from 10 AM-10 PM to 10 AM-6 PM (Sunday 12 PM-6 PM), as well as tightening its limits on purchases. A week after the store opened, queue times still range somewhere between four and five hours on a typical weekday, according to the Pokemon Center London Updates Twitter account. Yesterday, queues were closed as early as 2pm to prevent them from growing even larger.GameSpot was sent the following image of people queueing up outside Westfield London at 9am this morning.Arriving early is key to getting into the store it seems, with some even opting to camp overnight to book their place at the front of the queue. However, Westfield has said that physically setting up camp is not permitted. "Customers wishing to queue overnight may have to wait outside," the shopping centre said. "You will not be permitted to bring camping bags or tents. Please make yourself known to a member of the security team upon your arrival."The London Pikachu range has been limited to one item per customer since the Pokemon Center opened, but purchase limits throughout the rest of the store now extend to just six items. An FAQ thread from the official Twitter account says that this was done because it can no longer guarantee stock will be available until the store closes for good."We receive daily deliveries and endeavour to replenish stock as quickly as possible. However, due to unprecedented demand, some products may sell out before the end of the day," the shop now says. "Our team are working hard to restock daily. However, as interest in the store has been unprecedented, some products may sell out before the shop's closure on Friday 15th November."There's clearly a demand for a permanent Pokemon Center in London, even if you look beyond the effect the store's limited lifespan has on heightening people's clamour to get in. There's already a petition to make the store a permanent fixture, and it makes sense when you consider the online US store doesn't even ship worldwide. If London can accommodate a three-story tall M&M store that actually makes money, a Pokemon Center shouldn't be too far behind. The annual Destiny 2 Halloween event Festival of the Lost begins next week, but ahead of the event Bungie has issued a few warnings about how to claim your tricks and treats safely. The two event rewards, Candy and Chocolate Strange Coins, should be handled with care."While we await the festival's return, we’d like to forewarn players about earning and deleting Candy and Chocolate Strange Coins," reads a note in Bungie's weekly update. "In order to earn these currencies, players must wear the Masquerader's Helmet, purchasable from Eva Levante for 100 Glimmer. If players defeat enemies and complete activities without this helmet equipped, they will not earn Candy or Chocolate Strange Coins."Furthermore, players should be cautious when dismantling any items in their Consumables inventory. It's not unusual for superhero movies to make big money at the box office--Avengers: Endgame became the biggest movie of all time this year, and Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home were also huge hits. But what makes the success of DC's Joker so remarkable is the fact that the budget was so much less than any of these films, and it's now been reported that it could end up as profitable as last year's Avengers: Infinity War.According to Deadline, it has been estimated that Joker is on course to make a total profit of $464 million from theatrical, home entertainment, and TV sales. The movie is expected to hit a worldwide box office of $825 million this weekend, and could potentially reach $900 million by the time it leaves theaters. Once all the numbers are in, its profit will be close to Infinity War's $500 million. The big difference is that while Infinity War grossed a total of $2.04 billion, it was a far more expensive movie, both in terms of production budget and marketing costs. Joker's production budget was only $70 million, with an extra $120 million spent on marketing and a total of $97 million on things like profit participation and its home entertainment rollout. Conversely, Deadline states that Infinity War's total spend was a huge $500 million, more than $200 million that Joker's, cutting far more into its profits. You can see the full Infinity War profit breakdown here. Joker Coverage Does Joker Have A Post-Credits Scene? It is also the sixth most successful DC movie ever, having recently overtaken 2016's Suicide Squad, and could overtake Wonder Women this weekend to claim fifth place behind Aquaman, The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In related news, it was reported this week that Jared Leto, who played Joker in Suicide Squad, wasn't happy that the new Joker movie was put into development while he was technically still cast in the role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leto complained to his agents and asked one of his managers to get Warner to kill the Joker movie. Info from Gamespot.com

Death Stranding is out next month, at which point the internet will burst open with a deluge of divisive opinions we might not all survive. Before then, however, visionary Mad Max director George Miller has shared his thoughts on Hideo Kojima's latest work.In a recent video from IGN, Miller explains why he thinks Death Stranding is significant, not just as a video game, but as a cultural moment. "There is no cultural evolution unless it is renewed--unless new ideas are offered up," the Australian filmmaker says. "Often, they're provocative. Often, they shift the norm to some degree, but there is no evolution unless that happens. If we're just doing the same old safe work all the time, that's almost a certain way to fail anyway."In films, you see the same ideas, the same tropes--something that, a few years ago, might have been groundbreaking, has now become cliche." Miller then mentions Kojima specifically, and how he thinks the game director has the creative courage to push boundaries that others wouldn't. "The skill that I see in great filmmakers, I see in Kojima-san's work," he explains. "All of the visual languages, the syntax, the compelling imagery, it's all there, all in the service of giving the audience an intense experience."The risk is that people just don't accept it."At a time when legendary film directors like Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola are extending beyond their niches to criticise the MCU films, claiming they're "not cinema"--or worse-- it's refreshing to see a director like George Miller step outside of his comfort zone and thoughtfully embrace something new and weird.Death Stranding is set to launch November 8 on PlayStation 4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a return to one of the franchise's most iconic settings. Developed by Infinity Ward, the creators of the original Modern Warfare in 2007, this reboot follows a storyline featuring a new cast, along with the return of Captain Price. Much like other Call of Duty campaigns, it focuses heavily on a globe-trotting plot that will see its cast of characters through several set-piece encounters and other thrilling events. However, Modern Warfare's presentation leans more on realism. There's a greater weight to the game's narrative and shooting gameplay, which will likely make some players feel that some of its moments hit more close to home than they expect. In GameSpot's Modern Warfare review-in-progress, editor Kallie Plagge stated that the new campaign has some standout moments full of high-octane action and thrilling scenes. However, it can fall short when it comes to addressing the more harrowing aspects of war in modern times. The big standout in Modern Warfare is the suite of multiplayer offerings, including traditional competitive multiplayer and new variations like the Gunfight mode, resulting in an extremely robust game for players looking for a new multiplayer shooter to dive into. Call of Duty News Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Review In Progress - Shock And Awe Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Beginner's Guide - Essential Tips To Help You Succeed Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Ground War Explainer - What's Different In The Biggest Multiplayer Mode All The Perks In Modern Warfare And How They Work So far, only a few outlets have published their comprehensive reviews of the game. Below, you'll find a quick roundup from other gaming outlets who have shared their thoughts on what Modern Warfare is all about. Over the coming days, we'll update this post to add in new highlights and along with GameSpot's finalized review of the game after we spend more time testing it out online with more players.Game: Call of Duty: Modern WarfarePlatforms: PC, PS4, Xbox OneDeveloper: Infinity WardRelease date: October 25Price: $60 / £50 / $68 AUDSee at AmazonGameSpot - 7/10"Outside of any thematic contradictions, Modern Warfare's multiplayer is up to par, with a variety of game types for different kinds of players. Across all the modes, maps move away from the obvious three-lane structure in favor of nooks, crannies, and tons of cover; there's generally a balance of close-quarters and long-range approaches. The standard, highly customizable toolkit for your chosen loadouts returns, with a good selection of perks to suit different game types and playstyles. Modern Warfare largely stays within the strong foundations of Call of Duty multiplayer without pushing them much, with the exception of the excellent Realism mode." - Kallie Plagge [Review In Progress]Game Informer - 8.75/10"All told, Modern Warfare should have received a new Call of Duty subhead given just how different its avenues of play are. Not every one of Infinity Ward’s ideas works, but a few are successful enough that I could see them as series staples. Modern Warfare’s accomplishments may not be as pronounced as Black Ops 4’s (Blackout being one of them), but it still delivers a hell of a multiplayer experience. Gunfight alone is worth the price of admission." - Andrew Reiner [Full Review]GamesRadar - 4/5"Infinity Ward was always going to have to simplify the complexities of modern warfare to make this game work. What's important is what it chose to emphasise in service of that. For the most part, the studio has decided to pull focus onto the chaos born out of proxy wars and the debilitating pressure of being under fire from a seemingly unstoppable force, and it works when it does so. When it works to emphasise some perceived darker reflection of the world, it comes across as callous and a little cynical. That isn't enough to detract from what this Modern Warfare revival is ultimately able to achieve, but there's still work for Infinity Ward to do as it works to re-establish this series for a new generation." - Josh West [Full Review]PC Gamer - 80/100"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has sold itself as a return to the setting that "started it all." It’s a snappy marketing line that tugs the nostalgic strings of fans who remember the magic of 2007, and it’s not entirely misleading. The warfare is once again modern and, yes, Captain Price is still your likeable squad dad. Yet it's Modern Warfare's moments of unfamiliarity that impressed me—rebuilt weapon handling, ambitious new multiplayer modes, and characters that aren’t the cookie-cutter operatives we've seen in the last decade." - Morgan Park [Full Review]PCGamesN - 8/10"Modern Warfare also boasts the best cast of any entry in the series, all brought to life with grounded performances and the most realistic mo-capped cinematics to date. Barry Sloane takes on the iconic role of Captain Price with swagger and charm to spare, while Claudia Doumit’s performance as freedom fighter Farah Karim brims with humanity and grit. From start to finish, the six-hour campaign is a polished, immaculately produced, and genuinely affecting experience that plunges players into the murkiness of modern warfare and doesn’t pull any punches. This is easily one of the best, if not the best, Call of Duty campaigns yet." - Jordan Forward [Full Review]Info from Gamespot.com

Usually when Xur visits Destiny 2's solar system on the weekend, you're lucky to see him carrying one Exotic from Year Two--everything included with the Forsaken expansion and the annual pass that followed it. Hunters and Warlocks are lucky this week, though: Xur has two Year Two Exotics, and they're both pretty solid. Picking up some new top-tier weapons and armor is a great way to hold yourself over between the Leviathan's Breath Exotic quest this week and the Xenophage Exotic quest next week, and while you wait for the start of Destiny 2's Halloween event, the Festival of the Lost. Here's where to find Xur today and what Exotic items he's selling.Where Is Xur?Head to the Tower to find Xur this week. You'll need to go down to the Hangar; turn left at the doorway and take the stairs up to the catwalk near the edge of the area where Xur is waiting. What Is Xur Selling? For his weapon this week, Xur is packing Suros Regime, an auto rifle that packs a serious punch when you get near the bottom of the magazine and can even heal you. It's great for both PvE and PvP thanks to its adjustable fire and damage rates. Both Hunters and Warlocks can grab Year Two Exotics--Liar's Handshake and Geomag Stabilizers--which can give you some powerful build options for each class if you don't already have them. Depending on which corners of the internet you hung out on between the spring of 2009 and fall of 2016, your association with the word Homestuck will be pretty wildly different. For some, it's a nonsense portmanteau, for others, it may as well be an eldritch curse that evokes traumatic memories of fandom implosions and inscrutable memes--but for the many who took the plunge during that formative near-decade run, it's an old friend.Homestuck, in the simplest terms, was a webcomic. Done in the style of an old school, text-based choose-your-own-adventure game at first, the story ostensibly revolved around a group of kids who played a game that very rapidly went off the rails into something else entirely. Eventually, the slapstick comedy gave way to a massively complex, impenetrably self-referential lore complete with new alien races, dueling timelines, and alternate universes populated by gods and monsters. Eventually, it clocked in at around 800,000 total words across over 8,000 pages before it finally concluded "officially" on October 25, 2016.At least, until now. Exactly three years after it's final epilogue, Homestuck is back with Homestuck 2: Beyond Canon, a direct continuation of the original webcomic. It is "real Homestuck," according to the site's FAQ page, meaning that it is, functionally, "canon" to the events of the original series. The sequel is complete with an outline that was written in full by the series' original creator, Andrew Hussie. But it won't be as simple as a run-of-the-mill follow up to the original," the FAQ page reads. "Homestuck 2 will be "a legitimate continuation of the series, and simultaneously a departure from conventional ideas when it comes to what we think of as canon, or any authoritative expansion on a work of fiction. It will continue with themes established in the epilogues involving the blurring of lines between what is considered authoritative about media, and the elaboration on said media by groups of empowered fans."It will also be powered and funded via a Patreon page, which promises benchmarks for increased update frequency and bonus material for people willing to pony up a monthly contribution. Tiers start at $2, then jump to $5 for access to bonus material, $20 for behind the scenes access, and finally $100 for credit in the series creation. If you're having trouble remembering what, exactly, happened in Homestuck proper--don't panic. Or, at least don't panic too hard. The main plot of Homestuck, which wrapped up in April of 2016, is something you'll need to catch yourself up to on your own--but if you're one of the many readers who fell off after the last official page and didn't bother to catch up on the epilogues, don't panic. There's a "sparknotes" section of the site designed specifically to bring you up to speed. That, or you could just throw yourself directly into the deep end with Homestuck 2's very first update, which centers around Dirk Strider and the robot incarnation of Rose Lalonde as they pilot a spaceship through the crushed ruins of a black hole in the aftermath of the original story. You know, just totally run-of-the-mill stuff.Homestuck 2's very first update has gone live and is ready to be read today. Info from Gamespot.com

Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series won't begin filming until the summer of 2020, but the star of the show, Ewan McGregor, has leaked a few details about it in a recent interview. It's been 15 years since McGregor appeared as the Jedi master in the Star Wars universe, and now, we know when this show takes place. "The storyline sits between Episode III and Episode IV," McGregor explained to Men's Journal in a recent interview. To be precise, Obi-Wan will take place eight years after Revenge of the Sith and 11 years before A New Hope. "The Jedi Order was falling apart. It will be interesting to take a character we know in a way and show him—Well, his arc will be quite interesting, I think, dealing with that the fact that all the Jedi were slaughtered with the end of Episode III. It's quite something to get over."McGregor went on to say he has yet to rewatch the movies he starred in since their initial release, but he plans to go back, probably to prepare to take on the role of Obi-Wan once again. "I want to get closer and closer to how Obi-Wan felt while Alec Guinness was playing him," the actor explained. "I feel like I'm grayer and nearer him in age, so it'll be easier to do that."While McGregor was tight-lipped during the interview, he did reveal that the series will consist of six one hour-long episodes. It's unclear if this is a limited series or if there's room to expand into future seasons. The future adventures of Obi-Wan have been shrouded in secrecy. At first, it was reported back in 2017 that this would be a feature-length movie, following suit of other standalone Star Wars movies like Rogue One and Solo. However, after Solo's poor performance in theaters, talk of future solo Star Wars adventures has stopped entirely. During D23 this year, Disney confirmed Obi-Wan TV series and that McGregor would be starring. Additionally, The Mandalorian's Deborah Chow will be directing. Star Wars News Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Runtime Makes It The Longest Star Wars Movie Ever New Star Wars 9 Trailer Arrives Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Tickets On Sale Now Given that Disney+'s Obi-Wan series won't start filming until 2020, so chances are that fans won't be able to watch it until 2021. Don't get too bummed out about the wait as The Mandalorian launches on November 12 on Disney+, and that should be enough to hold you over.Info from Gamespot.com

She's supposed to not be a cat, but she has a pet cat. Anyway, I think they need both. I think they need car insurance for the kinds of accidents we cover. Like that's what car insurance covers for us, right? Then, I think they need life insurance for if they get totaled.Mat: I'm going to disagree with you. So the thing is in the Cars universe they have life insurance for the cars because they are the living things in that world.Jake: You keep saying in the Cars universe. But do you have proof?Mat: Yes. I wrote a book about it. I did extensive research. The life insurance is for the living cars cause they are living, and then instead of car insurance, they have human insurance because they get on the humans, and ride them to work every day like we get into cars.Jean-Luc: No. Humans do not exist in the universe.Mat: They exist. They absolutely do. They exist. They have human insurance and life insurance, end of question.Jean-Luc: Okay. I think it's the same thing. Like their version of life insurance is just called car insurance because they're cars. So, they would call it car insurance but it's just life insurance. They don't have...Kallie: But, does it cover accidents?Jean-Luc: Yeah, because like they wouldn't need to separate the two because there's no reason to have them separate.Kallie: What if they have no insurance?Jean-Luc: Oh shit, well that's a whole different thing. Worker's Rights.Lucy: I Googled this, okay. This is incredible. So someone on Quora has asked this very question. Craig Anderson, chartered insurance professional has answered. "I would suggest that Mr. McQueen and his cohorts would likely be better off with life and health insurance. Automobile insurance policies are written to indemnify the owner of a vehicle for loss or damage to the vehicle or legal liability." This is insane. "As I recall, the vehicles in the Car story universe are free beings, not slaves. Thus they have no owner. Subsequently, there would be no insured person under any automobile policy they took out without knowing it to be indemnified for any loss of damage to the quote on quote vehicle and no owner to be liable for the loss of damage resulting from the use or operation of the quote on quote vehicle. The policy would never pay and therefore be of absolutely no use." I suppose Lightning could get around this problem by forming a legal entity brackets, Kachow holdings and then leasing himself.Mat: Well, no offense, Craig. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life.Kallie: Craig actually raises a great point. Craig mentioned health insurance and that's what we're ignoring. The question posits car insurance or life insurance, but in the car's universe, car insurance would be health insurance. In our universe, health insurance and life insurance are distinct. So cars have to buy car insurance which is health insurance and life insurance but they don't need life insurance because you're not required to get health insurance. I mean life insurance, but you also aren't required to get health insurance but you should be, but you're required to get car insurance.Lucy: There is a worrying amount of people who work in the financial services who have replied to this Quora.Mat: I guarantee you that there is a joke in one of the Cars movies where there is a mafia car talking to another mafia car about taking out a different car and saying "be sure to take out a car insurance policy before we make the hit."Kallie: Why did you make him British, that was not a mafia accent.Jake: What is a mafia accent?Kallie: Like New Jersey.Lucy: Like Donbot from Futurama.Kallie: Yes like Donbot from Futurama thank you, Fat Tony, let's go.Mat: Be sure to take out a nice car insurance policy, on this mate.Kallie: You got British. You start fine and then you go into British.Info from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now, bringing the series back to a gritty modern-day theater of war. The campaign tells the story of moral compromises and civilian damage. But how long does it take to see it through? Before release, Infinity Ward promised that the campaign would last about as long as you'd expect from a Call of Duty game, but that it could vary greatly. In our experience, a playthrough of the campaign lasts 4-5 hours. That was the case regardless of difficulty, so play on the mode that you feel most comfortable with. Call of Duty News Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Review In Progress - Shock And Awe Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Beginner's Guide - Essential Tips To Help You Succeed Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Ground War Explainer - What's Different In The Biggest Multiplayer Mode All The Perks In Modern Warfare And How They Work Reviews have been hitting right alongside the release of the game, and so far the critical consensus seems fairly positive--if not effusive. That's also the case in GameSpot's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review-in-progress, which gave it a score of 7/10. Kallie Plagge said the campaign raises interesting questions but fails to take them to a deeper level."Just when it could really make a point about any other aspect of modern war, it pulls back," the review states. "Modern Warfare makes old observations and presents them with new flourishes. Those new flourishes do make for a good campaign and solid multiplayer. But it's when Modern Warfare asks you to think harder that it falls short."For more on Modern Warfare, check out our essential tips to get you started, and keep in mind that Ground War will go live later tonight.Info from Gamespot.com
