It's advertised as a mix-and-match sale, but it wouldn't be wise to pick up two expensive items and then get a $10 board game for free.Along with the aforementioned games, Super Mario Maker 2, NBA 2K20, Madden NFL 20, Gears 5, and many others are part of the promotion. On the movies side of things, Black Panther, The Lion King (2019), Toy Story 4, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and John Wick: Chapter 3 are just a handful of the Blu-rays up for grabs. Update: Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced PlayStation Vue will be shut down on January 30, 2020. "Unfortunately, the highly competitive Pay TV industry, with expensive content and network deals, has been slower to change than we expected," the studio wrote in a blog post. "Because of this, we have decided to remain focused on our core gaming business."In the blog post, Sony makes no mention of attempting to sell PlayStation Vue to another company. It appears that if such a move was made, any attempts at a deal were unsuccessful. Sony has reassured that the PlayStation store and entertainment apps on PS4 consoles will continue to support purchases for movie and TV content. If you've bought a movie or TV series on PS4, you'll still be able to access it on the console even after January 30, 2020. Only PlayStation Vue is going out of service. Our original article follows.Sony is reportedly considering selling its streaming service, PlayStation Vue. The service was pitched as a low-cost replacement for cable subscriptions, offering bundles of TV networks at various tiered prices. The Information reports that Sony is looking for a buyer for both the streaming technology and subscriber list, composed of roughly half a million households. The company has reportedly enlisted Merrill Lynch to help facilitate the sale, and has already approached the sports streaming platform FuboTV--though that company declined to purchase.Sony has a number of hurdles to overcome that could be preventing a sale, however. Its content packages may not align with the interests of potential buyers, so any sale could require the purchaser to renegotiate the lineup. Sony also doesn't host any original content on its platform.PlayStation Vue plans start at $50 per month, with an Ultra plan that goes as high as $85 per month with premium channels HBO and Showtime. Despite bearing the PlayStation name, the service isn't tied only to PlayStation devices. The move comes as streaming giants like Netflix and Hulu are facing increased competition from upcoming services like Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus.Info from Gamespot.com

Since EA launched its Origin service, it has been the only place that players have been able to purchase the publisher's games on PC, but that will change very soon. EA has announced it is bringing a variety of its titles to Steam, beginning with next month's highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.Ahead of its release on November 15, Respawn's upcoming Star Wars game is now available to pre-order on Valve's storefront, marking the first new EA game to hit Steam in six years. The publisher says it will be followed by The Sims 4, Unravel Two, and "other major titles" in the next few months. Apex Legends, FIFA 20, and Battlefield V will arrive next year, and those will support cross-play between Steam and Origin. All of this is leading up to the Steam launch of EA Access, EA's premium subscription service. EA touts that this is the "first and only" game subscription service to be available on Valve's storefront. No release date has been announced yet, but EA Access is slated to launch on Steam sometime next spring, and subscriptions will cost the same as on consoles: $5 a month or $30 a year. The Steam version of EA Access will give subscribers similar perks as on other platforms. Along with access to the Vault--a library of titles that users can play for free--subscribers will be able to take advantage of exclusive discounts and more. "We anticipate that the core benefits of the subscription service as it exists on Origin or Xbox or PlayStation will be the same as those which you would get on Steam," EA senior VP Mike Blank told GamesIndustry.biz. "And when I say the core benefits, I'm talking about things like early access, the 10% discount, or that catalog of games that you might see on EA Access today on Xbox or on PlayStation 4."The arrival of EA Access on Steam seems to open up the chance that the service could launch on other PC storefronts as well, such as the Epic Games Store. It appears EA has no such plans as of now, but Blank hasn't dismissed the possibility: "What I'll say today is we are open to new partnerships. While I don't have anything to announce today, we are always open to new partnerships that make sense for our players. So we'll see what the future holds."Info from Gamespot.com

Red Dead Online, the multiplayer mode in Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2, has gotten a spooky update just in time for the Halloween festivities. The new additions include an anxiety-inducing game mode, a new bounty to collect, more items in the shop, and even cosmetic masks. To start, the game has added a "Fear of the Dark" limited-time mode to the Showdown Mode selection. It pits super-strong Night Stalkers against human Hunters. The deck is stacked against the mortals, but skull masks are littered around the battlefield, so the more masks the Hunters collect, the weaker the Night Stalkers become, while the Hunters have their weapon power increased. Hunters win by collecting all the masks and wiping out the Night Stalkers, while Night Stalkers win by defeating all the Hunters or just surviving until time expires. The mode will be available through November 12. Don't wait to play, though, because you can get 3X Gold and 2X RDO$ through November 3.The announcement also details a new bounty, the former mayor Tobin Winfield. He was caught embezzling public funds and went into hiding near Thieves' Landing. Plus this week you can get 30% off sharp objects like cleavers, machetes, tomahawks, and throwing knives. Finally, you can claim an exclusive mask by marking a specialization. Bounty Hunters get a Creature mask, Traders get a Swine mask, and Collectors get a Masquerade mask. If you achieve Tier 10 and 20 of the Outlaw Pass, you can get special Freak and Horror masks, too. Winning a round of Fear of the Dark will also earn you an exclusive tint for the Freak Mask. Those are available through November 3.Plus as usual, the update brings a new selection of items for sale through the catalog, and more stipends to collect for Collectors. The Fear of the Dark mode will still be going when the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on November 5, so presumably PC adopters will have a little time with it too--though they'll miss out on some of the timed rewards. Most gamers are generally aware of the free monthly games that come with PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold, and you've probably snagged a free game from Steam, Epic, Humble Bundle, or some other digital store from time to time. But if you have an Amazon Prime subscription, you might be missing out on another regular source of free PC games: Twitch Prime, a premium membership that comes free with Amazon Prime.Twitch Prime has been handing out free games and loot like candy for quite some time now, and if you're not checking their monthly offerings on a regular basis, you're missing out. You still have a few more days to grab October's free games, including The Walking Dead: Michonne and Deadlight: Director's Cut, but Amazon has also announced the free games and in-game loot that will be available during the month of November.Darksiders II: Deathinitive EditionKicking things off next month is Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, an RPG and hack-and-slash adventure where you play as Death, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The Deathinitive Edition includes the remastered game in 1080p and improved graphics as well as all DLC.The game earned a solid 8.5/10 in GameSpot's Darksiders II review, in which Kevin VanOrd praised the fluid, colorful action, expertly crafted dungeons, and apocalyptic tone of its audio and visuals. "Darksiders II is remarkably well put together, particularly in light of its impressive scope. Bigger doesn't mean better, of course, but this isn't a 'more of the same, just bigger' kind of sequel. The game uses its expansive geography to cultivate a poetic tempo in which your intellectual triumphs are rewarded with the immediate pleasures of fleet-footed platforming and demonic brutality," he wrote.Planet AlphaGet stranded on an alien world in Planet Alpha, a 2D puzzle-platformer where you play as an unnamed space explorer on a mysterious, beautiful planet. The game earned a 7/10 in GameSpot's Planet Alpha review, in which James O'Connor wrote, "While there are moments of frustration in its platforming, and the puzzles are relatively unsophisticated, the locations of Planet Alpha will most certainly stick with you. It doesn't matter why you're there, or what it is you're looking for. There's great pleasure in just existing on this planet, in navigating its harsh terrain and admiring its vistas, and the sheer beauty of it all makes the game's shortcomings easy to bear."Several other free games will also be available in November: a turn-based tactical RPG set within a reimagined King Arthur mythos, Sword Legacy: Omen; a tongue-in-cheek simulation game based on the 19th-century oil rush, Turmoil; and an interdimensional action-platformer, Double Cross. In November, you can also claim plenty of free in-game loot and cosmetics. Current offers that will extend into next month include an exclusive Jackal Operator set for Rainbow Six Siege and exclusive wheels, engine audio, and decal for Rocket League. There will also be three special loot drops for PUBG Mobile throughout November. You can see all the current offers at Twitch Prime. To claim any free loot or free games, you just have to link your Twitch and Amazon Prime accounts. An Amazon Prime account costs $119 / £79 a year and gets you other benefits like free two-day shipping, access to Prime Video streaming, and more. You can also sign up for a 30-day free trial anytime (it might not be a bad idea to do it before Black Friday).See free games and loot at Twitch PrimeNovember 2019 Free Twitch Prime GamesDarksiders II: Deathinitive EditionPlanet AlphaSword Legacy OmenTurmoilDouble CrossInfo from Gamespot.com

We're only a few weeks away from the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and EA have released a new trailer showcasing some of the more exciting events to come in the story's campaign. Releasing on November 15 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Respawn Entertainment's single-player game will focus on new protagonist Cal Kestis and his growth from Jedi Padawan to Jedi Master. In the trailer, we see Cal traveling to planets like Kashyyyk, Dathomir, and some new worlds that will make their Star Wars debut. Some standout moments from the trailer include the appearance of a Nightsister on Dathomir and a confrontation with an Imperial Inquisitor known as The Ninth Sister. The Inquisitors are strictly imperial, so they only had a major presence in Rebels--though the Nightsisters did feature in both Clone Wars and Rebels.Recently, I got to play the opening hours of Fallen Order, and I was impressed with the new approach it was taking. As the first metroidvania Star Wars game, you're given a surprising amount of freedom and flexibility to explore the worlds and the larger galaxy itself. While I got to travel to planets like Zeffo and Kashyyyk, other planets like Dathomir proved to be a much more significant challenge. Though the roaming Rancors can easily outmatch you on Dathomir, the game gives you the freedom to explore the world regardless, which is certainly refreshing from the more linear style that set-piece driven games single-player games tend to be.Also revealed today was news that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will mark the first EA game in nearly ten years to release on Steam. While EA has had a go of it with its digital marketplace Origin, they're broadening their reach on PC to Steam to find a broader audience. In an interview with Gameindustry.Biz, EA senior VP Mike Blank stated that as the market has evolved throughout the decade, there was a need to change and adapt."Since the time we removed our games from Steam, there's been this dramatic increase in the number of gaming services, which you would think would be really good for players," he said. "But I think in many cases, it's the exact opposite. It creates more difficulty for players, and providing player choice--from my perspective and speaking on behalf of EA--is really critical. It's an opportunity to make it possible for people to play where they want, to reduce that fragmentation and make it more frictionless. Reducing that fragmentation is really important. It's the most player-first thing we can do."For more on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, check out our full impressions from the first three hours of the game, along with some details about how galaxy exploration will work.Info from Gamespot.com

As a franchise, Terminator has spanned movies, TV, video games, and more across the last three decades. But it all started with James Cameron, who, along with his then-wife Gale Anne Hurd, is credited with the series' creation. With Terminator: Dark Fate, Cameron has returned to the series for the first time since 1991's celebrated T2: Judgment Day--a fact that's been well-publicized in the film's marketing, Comic-Con panels, and beyond. But exactly how involved was James Cameron, really? After all, the famed filmmaker remains hard at work on his many planned Avatar sequels, which must demand most of his time and energy. And Cameron didn't direct Dark Fate--that honor went to Deadpool director Tim Miller. When we got the chance to speak with Cameron recently with a small group of reporters, we asked him exactly how involved he was on Terminator: Dark Fate, and his answer surprised us.Cameron has both a producer and a writer credit on the film, and he said he was involved with the story conception from nearly the beginning, although director Tim Miller predated him on the project. He also contributed extensively to the editing process."I was kind of reluctant to come back into that world, but when I had the opportunity to recover the rights through the copyright law, I started thinking about it," Cameron admitted. "It's like, 'Well is there still something to say?' And when I met with David Ellison at Skydance, he said, 'Look, what I want to do is take it back to the basics. In a sense you can do the sequel to Terminator 2.' And I thought, 'Well that simplifies things.' The movie came from him; that was not my vision walking in the door."When he started to get involved, Cameron was conscious of the fact that this wasn't his movie. "I don't want to take the position that I was the one driving this. I came in, I said, 'Look, guys, I want to be of value to you,'" he explained. "I said, 'I want to come in as non-threatening here. I want to be a resource. You can have the benefit of my thinking on the matter, but you're going to do your own thing. You're going to follow your own muse.'"His strategy in general was to be as hands-off as possible. "It's just my philosophy as a producer. I want to be an asset. I want to be a resource. I don't want to be a go-to person or look-around person," he said. "The director needs to be empowered. So this is Tim's film, and David Ellison and I worked together as producing partners to make it the best version of Tim's film that could exist.""I think ultimately, the film reflects those things that we all agreed on would be cool. It's pretty much that simple," Cameron explained. One of those things is the REV-9 Terminator and his unique ability to separate his exo- and endo-skeletons and operate them independently, which they came up with "in the first few days of sitting around in the writing room," Cameron said. "We loved it--we all loved it. We got a strong image." In the story of the finished film, Sarah and John Connor successfully changed the future by destroying Cyberdyne Systems at the end of T2, and when Grace (Mackenzie Davis) travels back in time to the present, Sarah learns that things in Grace's future are different. Granted, that new future isn't exactly utopian--Grace definitely has her own problems--but the point is, there are multiple timelines. Cameron said they also spent a lot of time in the early stages working on the movie debating details like those."The blood is still being scrubbed off the walls from those creative battles," Cameron said. "This is a film that was forged in fire. But that's the creative process, right?"He contrasted working with Tim Miller on Dark Fate with working with Robert Rodriguez on last year's Alita: Battle Angel. "Robert loved the script, loved everything, said, 'I just want to make this movie. I want to make the movie the way you see it.' I was like, 'No, you've got to make it your movie.' I had the reverse experience with Tim, which is, Tim wanted to make it his movie. And I'm like, 'Yeah, but I kind of know a little about this world.'"For his part, Miller told GameSpot recently that he felt he had the creative freedom to make this movie his own, while Cameron's insights and contributions proved valuable throughout the process."Jim, of course, created the franchise, so he is the authority on all things Terminator," the director said. "He's a great touchstone if I ever felt like, you know, 'Am I drifting off-theme? What are the things that I think should be most important?' Jim is really great to answer those questions. But most of all, he's been thinking about these movies--even though he didn't plan to direct another one, he's been thinking about them for a long time. And he always has something interesting to say about how Arnold would have evolved, or Sarah's state of mind...he's really in touch with the human side of these characters in a way that's great to be able to talk about with him."That may be the case, but Cameron also admitted he "hadn't thought too much about the Terminator universe in about 20 years" before returning for Dark Fate. However, the filmmaker did claim credit for the way Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 re-enters the story. He described this version of the Terminator as similar to the Flying Dutchman--a legendary ghost ship that's doomed to sail the seas forever, unable to make port. And he expressed excitement about being able to explore a new side of the character he created nearly 30 years ago."I had this idea that he’s completed his mission, and, you know, he's a learning computer. He's a neural net computer designed to be chameleonic, to try to learn to blend," he said. "That was the conceit of the original story--the kind of entry point to the character. So I thought, 'Let's play that out.' What happens if you've got this Terminator who is just out there floating around for 10, 20-plus years, and he would essentially max out on his ability to emulate human behavior, and become as human as he could be until he got new orders."Cameron said he likes that the T-800's storyline touched on the question of free will. "We've seen the Terminator that was programmed to be bad; you've seen the one that was programmed to be good, to be a protector. But in both cases, neither one of them have free will. I think this film is really an opportunity to explore these ideas of fate or predestination versus free will, and how we deal with it as human beings."He said from that point, it was just a matter of building on that idea. "After that it was just iterating through, 'How do we do it? And what about Linda [Hamilton]? Should we get her?' I think there's a certain point where a film kind of takes its own path, kind of the confluence of the various influences of the artists involved." Cameron never visited Dark Fate's set, but he did see a rough cut of the movie early in 2019. Miller believed he was happy with the direction the movie was going, but Cameron said it "transformed quite a bit" from that point, thanks in part to his extensive notes: "It wasn't a slam-dunk at the time. I felt there were a lot of pathways that were taken that were unnecessary. I'm an editor myself, so I gave notes that were both broad, and very specific. I continued in that process up to about two and a half months ago when we locked picture."Cameron also said he planned out an entire new Terminator trilogy with Dark Fate as its starting point, although Miller, who directed Deadpool 1 but not Deadpool 2, suggested he might not return for those currently hypothetical sequels."Who knows?" Miller told us. "I feel lucky enough--like the luckiest nerd in the world--to be playing in the sandbox once with Jim's toys. I'm OK with that, if that's all it's meant to be. Just like Deadpool, you know--I'm so grateful for the experience, and I never expected to get that much, so, I'm good."Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters Friday, November 1. Info from Gamespot.com

The Fortnitemares 2019 event is now live in Fortnite: Battle Royale, bringing a new Storm King limited-time mode to the game, along with a related set of challenges. Many of these missions are tied to the aforementioned LTM, while a handful are more obviously Halloween-inspired, like destroying haunted household furniture and leaping out of hideouts when unsuspecting players are nearby. One of the trickier Storm King challenges asks you to search chests at a haunted forest, a ghost town, and a spooky farm. The challenge itself is easy enough to complete, but the hard part is knowing where to go, especially if you're not very familiar with Fortnite's new map yet. If you fall in that camp, don't worry; we show you what to do below.Where Are The Haunted Forest, Ghost Town, And Spooky Farm Locations? As the challenge states, you need to search chests at three specific areas. The haunted forest and spooky farm are simple enough to find; the former is Weeping Woods, while the later is Frenzy Farm--both named locations that you can easily spot on the game's map.The ghost town, however, is a bit harder to track down. Unlike the other two areas, it isn't a named location, so you can't obviously see it just by looking at a map of the island. For this one, you'll need to go to quadrant G1, in the top portion of the island. The town is northwest of Steamy Stacks, and it's received a ghostly makeover for this event. You can see where all three areas are located on the map below. How To Complete The ChallengeOnce you know where the locations are, all you need to do is head to all three areas and search one chest in each. Do that and you'll clear the challenge, netting you 30,000 XP for your troubles. If you need more help, we walk you through how to complete the challenge in the video below.Chapter 2, Season 1 is slated to run until December 12. The prequel series, believed to be titled Bloodmoon and set thousands of years before Game of Thrones, will not be going to series according to a new report. HBO had previously ordered a pilot for the show. The news comes from Deadline, which reports that showrunner Jane Goldman has been reaching out to the cast and crew that worked on the project, informing them it will not be moving forward. When GameSpot reached out to HBO, they could not confirm the report. While details of the prequel were kept largely secretive, A Song of Ice and Fire author George RR Martin previously revealed some interesting tidbits about what would be showcased. According to Martin, the show would have been set in a time when Westeros was made up of 100 kingdoms. "If you go back further then there are nine kingdoms, and 12 kingdoms, and eventually you get back to where there are a hundred kingdoms--petty kingdoms--and that's the era we're talking about here," he said at the time.Among the announced cast for the series were Naomi Watts, Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Jamie Bower (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), and Toby Regbo (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald). As for what happens with Game of Thrones next, there are no officially announced plans in the works. However, it was reported in September that a second prequel series was being developed, with HBO considering ordering a pilot. This series would be set only 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and would focus on House Targaryen.Game of Thrones wrapped up its eight-season run back in May. Since then, showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have left HBO for a production deal at Netflix. They then also stepped down from the proposed trilogy of Star Wars movies they were attached to write and direct.Info from Gamespot.com

In The Surge 2, you can leave messages for online players to discover. And when compared to 2017's The Surge, the sequel does combat better in almost every way.In our Surge 2 review, we said, "Story and sidequests aside, however, The Surge 2 is absolutely worth the effort when the combat is taken in isolation. Not only does it pack a punch, but it also channels plenty of depth in its limb targeting and deflection systems, and is ably supported by a genuinely varied collection of weapons and potential character builds."Info from Gamespot.com
