Red Dead Redemption 2 just launched on PC today, but many players are facing issues of getting it to run properly, or even at all. The game has been subject to crashes, sending players back to desktop--myself included. In my experience, I would either get the "exited unexpectedly" message from the Rockstar Launcher or a critical error message from Windows when either loading into the story mode or a few seconds into gameplay. Rockstar hasn't yet released any patch or much in the way of official guidance, but here are two possible fixes if you're encountering Red Dead 2 crashes. [Update: A Rockstar Games Launcher update is out now that addresses some of the problems, so ensure that is up to date if you're encountering any issues.]I was able to get the game running stably after a few tweaks. If you get a crash, the Rockstar Launcher will ask if you want to run the game in Safe Mode; you can do this then tweak your graphics settings back to what you wanted. Granted, you'll have to restart the game again to apply certain graphics options. One option you'll want to have set is for the game to use the DirectX 12 renderer--by default, Red Dead 2 runs on the Vulkan API.A third step isn't so much a solution as it is just good practice: update your video card's drivers. Nvidia users should download and install GeForce driver version 441.12 since it's specifically tuned for RDR2 and the most recent software for Nvidia GPUs. AMD users will want to do the same and install the latest graphics drivers, Radeon software version 19.11.1. Rockstar has acknowledged the situation and offer driver updates as a solution, too. Additionally, it's suggested to make sure Windows launches the game with "Run this Program as Administrator" and "Disable Fullscreen Optimization" set. It's hard to say which one of these are the definitive solution, but if you're encountering crashes in the same manner, we suggest you follow these steps. Your mileage may vary as every PC is different and it's not yet clear what exactly is causing the crashes. I'm currently running a PC with the following specs: Intel Core i7-7700K, Nvidia RTX 2080, 16GB RAM, and a 2TB m.2 NVMe SSD. I cannot speak to whether or not there are other issues that might be specific to AMD setups. For more information on the situation, you can read our story the Red Dead 2 PC crashes people have been encountering. Apex Legends has a new update, which Respawn has detailed in their latest patch notes. The update adds a new firing range to the game and several balance changes and tweaks. With these new changes, Apex Legends' Halloween-themed Fight or Fright event comes to an end; it's November now, after all. This means that if you're looking to unlock Lifeline's heirloom, you'll now have to rely on chance. With Shadowfall leaving Apex Legends' game mode rotation, a new limited-time Duos mode has gone live alongside the new update--the new mode will remain in the game until November 19.The firing range is a great addition for those wondering which character to buy in Apex Legends, as jumping in allows you to test any legend and their corresponding abilities--giving you a chance to try Caustic, Mirage, Octane, Wattson, and Crypto prior to purchasing them. You can enter the firing range solo or as a squad, and experiment with all in-game loot items. In the update's patch notes, Respawn says additional "future improvements" are on the way.In terms of balance changes, the new update doesn't add all that many. The Wingman is getting a nerf: dealing less damage on headshots. Projectile width has also been adjusted for all shotguns (EVA-8, Mozambique, and Peacekeeper), the L-Star, and several sniper rifles (Longbow DMR, Kraber, and G7 Scout).Perhaps the most noticeable changes are several buffs for Crypto. Though the hacker is very beginner-friendly, the legend has seen a drop-off in ranked play due to the weaknesses tied to his passive playstyle. The buff to his Ultimate ability greatly increases his usefulness, allowing his EMP to damage shields even after enemies have dropped them. Now, Wraith is the only legend who can easily escape the effects of Crypto's Ultimate. The update also adds a new feature that allows you to reroll on your daily challenges. From now on, all players will receive one easy, one medium, and one hard challenge each day. If you want more or different challenges, you can pay Legend Tokens to unlock new dailies. The first reroll will cost 200 tokens, followed by 500 for a second reroll, and 1000 for every consecutive reroll. The cost will reset every day.In the settings, you can now adjust the cursor speed as well--a change that will allow you to loot death boxes much more quickly. There's also no countdown prior to picking your character at the start of the match--so be ready to pick in case you're up first. You'll also now be able to see the ammo type of the guns your teammates are using while in the inventory menu, a pretty nice change that will make it easier to know whether you and your teammates are all searching for the same type of ammo. The quip wheel has also been tied to a new input, allowing you to more easily access your chosen legends' quips in the middle of a match. All of these changes and more are listed in the patch notes below.Apex Legends November 5 Update Patch NotesFiring RangeFrom the lobby, you can now select the firing range. Here you can practice playing around with all the weapons, items, and Legends. Can enter the firing range solo or with your squad. You can change to any Legend and use their abilities and ultimates. All loot items are available to play with including weapons, attachments, and hopups.Target DUMMIES available to practice those headshots.Future improvements to come! Please give us your feedback.WeaponsWingman Reduced the headshot multiplier: 2.15 -> 2.1Changes to Projectile Collision: We've increased the projectile width on some weapons so they are easier to hit with. We made this change to the TripleTake in Season 2 and the following will be updated for this patch: Shotguns: All shotguns will have projectiles with a small amount of width.L-STARSnipers: The Longbow DMR, Kraber, and G7 Scout.Quality of LifeIn an effort to surface easier challenges to players more often and offer a balanced set of challenges each day, Daily Challenge distribution has been adjusted so players are guaranteed to receive 1 easy, 1 medium, and 1 hard challenge. You can now spend Legend Tokens to reroll Daily Challenges. First reroll: 200 Legend TokensSecond reroll: 500 Legend TokensThird or more rerolls: 1000 Legend Tokens for each reroll.Cost increases with each purchase before capping out at 1000 Legend Tokens.Cost resets every dayYou can now adjust the game cursor velocity in Settings -> Controller. This will apply to cursor velocity in all menus including the Lobby, Pause/Inventory menus, and Death Box inventories. We now show you what Music Pack you have selected while dropping into the map. If you only have the default Pack selected you won’t see anything.Improved flow from Lobby to Match that fixes some minor bugs and will hopefully get players into matches a bit faster. Disabling pregame spawning of players before character selection. This will address cases where players might hear someone voice comms or other sounds before the Legend selection starts. The "Waiting for Players..." transition now shows the game world instead of a black screen.Removed the 5-second countdown that would start at the beginning of Legend selection.Players will now be able to view the ammo types of their squadmates equipped weapons when in the inventory menu.Ranked Mode: Players will no longer receive a penalty for abandoning a match if they leave after 2 and a half minutes have passed since their Banner was picked up after dying. As a reminder: players will be warned via the menus if their leaving may trigger abandon penalties; if the warning does not show up players are free to leave.New Quip Inputs [Controller] you can now open the quip wheel by holding down on the d-pad (you can still do it the old way - open ping menu and press Y)[PC] Quick Chat binding should now auto bind to F1 if it isn’t bound to anything (assuming nothing is already bound to F1)Bug FixesFixed a bug where players would stay in place while the train keeps moving when reviving another player.Updated the layout of the minimap that was previously showing a route that doesn’t exist.Fixed cases where players could drop into Out of Bounds areas without getting the timer.Fixed cases of some areas where players could take lava damage near the Volcano when there isn’t any lava.Fixed display issue with post-game where it would show you earning 2 battle pass levels for leveling up via Stars.LegendsCrypto EMP now will damage armor that players have dropped.Fixed a bug where Lifeline's drone couldn’t heal Crypto while he was in the drone.Fix for friendly Caustic gas kicking Crypto out of his drone.Bangalore Fixed bug where sometimes the missiles from Bangalore's Ultimate would disappear after landing on the train. A popular Fortnite pro who joined the competitive esports team FaZe Clan earlier this year has been issued a lifetime ban from the battle royale shooter for using an aimbot.Jarvis Khattri has been "permanently banned on Fortnite for life" for using an aimbot in the game's Solos and Playground modes. While Khattri notes in an apology video that "this is the first time" he's ever done anything like this and has "never done this in a competitive game mode at all," developer Epic Games makes its rules explicitly clear its End User License Agreement. One of the EULA's clauses states that "running or using methods which are not authorized by Epic and which interfere with the outcome and/or the course of the Software (including Cheats, bots, scripts, or mods not expressly authorized by Epic)" is strictly prohibited. In a statement to the press, Epic Games exercised the common "cheaters never prosper" mantra. "We have a zero-tolerance policy for the usage of cheat software. When people use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly.""I was completely oblivious to what could happen to me, what the consequences were. Obviously, this was a huge mistake and is completely wrong on my end," Khattri said. "Genuinely, I don't even know what I was thinking. Cheating in anything is just terrible, you should never do it. It's not acceptable. It's zero-tolerance. It's just such a dumb thing to do. I should've paid more attention to the community rules and the TOS of Fortnite. I just wanna urge you guys to review all of those Terms of Service and stuff so that nothing like this could ever happen to you because it's actually so shit."Khattri can be seen using the aimbot in a mirrored YouTube video, where he confirms that he's running on a backup PC. "I had to go on a new PC," Khattri said. "I don't wanna get my main PC banned. Sounds weird [that] I have a spare PC, but it's just a spare PC that's been in the house." Affleck stepped down as director in early 2017, and more recently confirmed that he was no longer involved at all, stating that he had "tried to direct a version of it, but couldn't crack it."Reeves has previously hinted at what fans could expect from the movie. "It's very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale," he said. "It's told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it's going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It's more Batman in his detective mode than we've seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective, and that's not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been." The Neo Geo Mini is a cool, little handheld device that contains more than 40 beloved SNK classics. We've seen some Neo Geo Mini bundles in the past, but we've never seen the handheld on its own at a price quite this low. However, with Black Friday on the horizon, it seems anything is possible. As part of Newegg's early Black Friday 2019 deals, the online retailer has slashed the Neo Geo Mini's price to $50 USD, down from $110.Neo Geo Mini | $50 ($110) See at Newegg You can play the Neo Geo Mini in handheld with its onboard joystick and buttons, but if you want to output it to the TV, you can do that. However, you'll need to buy extra controllers and a mini HDMI cable to enjoy the Neo Geo Mini on a television.GameSpot's Neo Geo Mini review called the device "a pretty great table-top curiosity on its own [with] dozens of games, most of which are decent and ... more enjoyable to play (in short bursts) on the 3.5-inch screen than you might expect."Critic Peter Brown noted that the speakers struggle to do the soundtracks justice and the video quality in TV mode is disappointing. The new 1.25 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 brings a raft of improvements and tweaks to the game, one of which is bound to make fans of a particular map very happy. In a post on Reddit, Treyarch has outlined the big changes and released their full patch notes for this update.Nuketown is now a permanent fixture of the Featured Playlist tab, so you can jump into a playlist dedicated to the map--a recreated small chunk of suburbia on a nuclear testing facility grounds--at any time. Nuketown first appeared in the original Black Ops back in 2010, and has been reimagined for each mainline Black Ops game that has followed.Going forward, certain featured playlists will also grant you double XP, with a new one being selected each Tuesday. 2XP Stockpile, 2XP Capture the Flag, and 2XP Prop Hunt weeks have been promised.Treyarch has increased the maximum damage and speed on the Echohawk Dual Bore assault rifle, while the AN-94 has also received a damage boost to make it a more viable weapon. The Reaper specialist class has also been nerfed slightly, with the Scythe's duration being reduced from 40 seconds to 30 and its ammo being cut down from 150 rounds to 100.In other patch notes, Blackout's matchmaking is being overhauled with LTM Moshputs being introduced, giving players four limited-time modes each week to make sure that players are experiencing some sense of variety in their game. Changes are coming to Zombies too--if you're playing on PS4, the new Zombies Gauntlet "An Ice Day In Hell" is up now, while an outro cutscene error bug that had affected some players has been addressed. This patch suggests that Treyarch will continue to support their latest entry in the series, and the community of players who have stuck with it, in the wake of the release of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This makes sense, as the two games are quite different--Black Ops 4 does not feature a campaign and instead released with Blackout, Call of Duty's first battle royale mode--and they're both developed by two different teams. Everspace 2 has achieved its funding goal in the final two days of its crowdfunding campaign, ensuring that the sequel will get made. The development team has thanked the community that supported Everspace 2's Kickstarter in a blog post, stating that because of the support of backers they can now "make Everspace 2 the way we always wanted to: together with you, our fans and without having to cut important features or content from our core vision."The Kickstarter, which is now closed, made €503,478 from 7,979 backers, flying past Rockfish Games' goal of €450,000 in the final 48 hours of the campaign. The campaign managed to clear its first stretch goal of €500,000 as well, which promises to add an area known as The Ancient's Rift--"complete different rift challenges, survive as long as you can and unlock precious rewards, loot and experience." This is an endgame zone that will challenge expert players. The original Everspace released in 2016 on PC, and eventually made its way to consoles. Everspace 2 has been announced for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. While the original came to Switch, Nintendo's console is not mentioned on the Kickstarter page, and on the Kickstarter's FAQ Rockfish Games explain that the sequel is too technically advanced for Nintendo's system. The sequel will offer a persistent open world, a 20-hour campaign, and a story that continues on from the first game. The team is estimating a Steam Early Access release in September 2020, and a full release for all platforms by the end of 2021.Everspace 2 was playable at PAX West earlier this year, where we compared it to "Diablo in space". It combines space shooting with some more terrestrial combat, and all your shooting and scavenging is in service of securing the best loot. A prototype demo will be sent out in December to backers who pledged €40 or more.Info from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare got off to a great start with record-breaking sales and generally positive review scores. However, some players have remarked that the weapon balance isn't exactly where it should be. Specifically, players are reporting that the M4 rifle and 725 shotgun are currently too powerful, and are negatively affecting the experience.Modern Warfare's multiplayer co-director, Joe Cecot, wrote on Twitter to confirm that "weapon tuning" changes are coming to the game in a future update. He did not say which weapons specifically will be addressed, but given the volume of feedback regarding the M4 and 725, it seems likely those weapons will be nerfed or changed in some capacity. Some players have discovered that the 725, when augmented with special equipment, can actually act as a sniper rifle. Cecot replied to a video documenting this with the eyes emoji, which suggests the 725 may get nerfed in the new update to come. There is no word yet on when the weapon tuning update will be released, but keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.Modern Warfare launched on October 25, and it needed just three days to bring in more than $600 million in sales. Its sales over its first three days were better than every other Call of Duty released during this generation of consoles.Looking forward, developer Infinity Ward has plans to support Modern Warfare for a long time to come, beginning with a Battle Pass system that will add new cosmetic rewards on a regular schedule. Martin Scorsese made waves when he said Marvel movies are "not cinema." The famed Oscar-winning director has now clarified his remarks as part of an opinion piece for The New York Times--and he isn't backing down.Scorsese started off by stating that he does not detest Marvel, he just doesn't see those types of superhero movies as "cinema" as he defines it. He said many franchise films are "made by people of considerable talent and artistry." He doesn't watch or enjoy Marvel movies because they do not personally appeal to his "taste and temperament.""I know that if I were younger, if I'd come of age at a later time, I might have been excited by these pictures and maybe even wanted to make one myself," he said. "But I grew up when I did and I developed a sense of movies--of what they were and what they could be--that was as far from the Marvel universe as we on Earth are from Alpha Centauri."Scorsese--who won an Oscar for The Departed--said Marvel movies do in fact contain "many of the elements that define cinema as I know it." However, he says he can't call Marvel movies true cinema by his definition because they lack "revelation, mystery, or genuine emotional danger.""Nothing is at risk" in Marvel movies, Scorsese added. "The pictures are made to satisfy a specific set of demands, and they are designed as variations on a finite number of themes."The director went on to say Marvel movies are effectively remakes in spirit in part because they have gone through a process that removes a semblance of personality."Everything in them is officially sanctioned because it can't really be any other way. That's the nature of modern film franchises: market-researched, audience-tested, vetted, modified, revetted, and remodified until they're ready for consumption," he said. Scorsese singled out directors like Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker), Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar), and Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Punch-Drunk Love) as movie-makers who create experiences that deliver "something absolutely new." Their movies take Scorsese to places of "unnameable areas of experience."The director said he's sharing his opinions about Marvel movies, superhero movies, and franchise films because he sees them as a threat to the traditional movie-going experience. Movie theatres only have so many screens, so they choose to run sequels and franchise films, while independent theatres are losing ground."In many places around this country and around the world, franchise films are now your primary choice if you want to see something on the big screen," he said. "It's a perilous time in film exhibition, and there are fewer independent theaters than ever.""If you’re going to tell me that it's simply a matter of supply and demand and giving the people what they want, I'm going to disagree," he added. "It's a chicken-and-egg issue. If people are given only one kind of thing and endlessly sold only one kind of thing, of course they’re going to want more of that one kind of thing."You can--and should--read Scorsese's full piece at NYT to better understand the context of his comments, and gain a full understanding of what he's saying and why.Scorsese's original comments inspired other directors to speak out as well. The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola took things further, saying Marvel movies are "despicable.""I don't know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again. Martin was kind when he said it's not cinema," Coppola said. "He didn't say it's despicable, which I just say it is."Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld said Scorsese and Coppola are entitled to their opinions, while pointing out that Marvel, DC, and others will not stop making superhero movies just because Scorsese and Coppola don't like them. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, meanwhile, said in a post on Instagram that no one should be surprised by the comments made by Scorsese and Coppola.Scorsese's next movie is The Irishman, starring Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino. It is playing in select theatres now and debuts on Netflix on November 27.Info from Gamespot.com

Frozen 2, which will hit cinemas on November 22, has hit a major ticket sales milestone on the first day tickets went on sale.Deadline is reporting that Frozen 2 has the highest first day ticket sales for an animated movie ever for ticket presellers Fandango and Atom Tickets. Toy Story 4 held the record for Fandango previously, followed by Incredibles 2, Finding Dory, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Atom Tickets has said that the only film releasing over the holiday period outpacing Frozen 2 is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.Specific sales numbers have not been released, but Deadline is saying that sales have "eclipsed" the previous record. It bodes well for the sequel, which will follow Elsa and Anna on a new journey three years after the events of the first film. Disney has successfully kept many details about the film's plot beyond this under wraps.Previous record holder Toy Story 4 earned $118 million on its opening weekend, which was lower than anticipated but still very high, and the best opening for the Toy Story franchise. It went on to gross over $1 billion at the international box office, and Frozen 2 is expected to do the same; the original film earned $1.274 billion internationally. This is not the first record that Frozen 2 has broken: its initial teaser trailer had 116.4 million views over its first 24 hours, which is the most ever for an animated movie.Info from Gamespot.com
