The first episode of The Mandalorian has arrived thanks to the official launch of the Disney+ streaming service. If you've had a chance to sit down and watch the show--and haven't been bogged down by service problems--you've no doubt noticed how the first episode is positively stuffed with Easter eggs and references designed to entertain hardcore Star Wars fans. However, there's one specific reference that stands tall over the rest. After being captured by The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal), a lowly bounty (Horatio Sanz) makes mention of a specific holiday. "I was hoping to be free for Life Day," he said. "Maybe even get home to the family."With that one small line, a massive piece of the extended Star Wars universe, has now been made canon. Life Day is a celebrated holiday on Kashyyyk--Chewbacca's home world--that was first introduced in the Star Wars Holiday Special. You remember that, right? The Star Wars Holiday Special was a truly bizarre TV event in 1978 that has been practically lost to time because, well, it's bad. It still has an important place in Star Wars lore, though. It's in this special that Boba Fett is glimpsed for the first time, albeit as a cartoon character. It's also the first appearance of Mandalorian armor, making it especially relevant to The Mandalorian. So what is Life Day? It's a day celebrated by Wookiees, in which they journey to the Tree of Life on Kashyyyk and feast with their family and friends, celebrating their culture. It hasn't appeared that often throughout Star Wars, though there is a brief mention in the video game Star Wars Battlefront II and has popped up on the official Star Wars website. When it comes to the Holiday Special, though, that particular Life Day celebration saw Han Solo (Harrison Ford) venture to Kashyyyk with Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) to visit the Wookiee's family. It's there that we met such important Star Wars characters as Chewie's wife Malla, their son Lumpy, and his dad Itchy. Clearly, the 1970s were a weird time. However, it's also interesting to note that should this Life Day mention make the Holiday Special canon, Chewie still has a family out there somewhere. Why not feature it more heavily in an upcoming Mandalorian episode or even a future Star Wars movie? In fact, take it one step further and do a Life Day celebration during the holidays at the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park expansions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Now that we know Life Day still has a place in Star Wars, it's time to make it count.Info from Gamespot.com

Disney+ has officially launched, offering a wide selection of shows and movies from Disney's massive catalog. You couldn't be blamed for needing time to look through the selection, but a couple of divisive features have migrated to Disney's streaming service from its competitors: background video, and auto-play. Fortunately, they're also pretty easy to disable. For those unaware, background video is a feature on Netflix and Prime Video, which starts playing trailers or clips when you hover over a show or movie for more than a few seconds. That can make it difficult to just casually browse and read descriptions, plus it runs the risk of starting to play content you may not have wanted your smaller children to see. Auto-play, meanwhile, begins a new episode of a show as you finish the prior one.For the time being, the user interface differs slightly between apps, so you may not have the same options across all devices. For this reason, we recommend toggling these settings by visiting the Disneyplus.com site in your browser.Disable Background Video and Auto-Play On Disney PlusFrom the Disney Plus home screen, select your profile iconSelect "Edit Profiles"Select the profile you'd like to edit (named simply "Profile" by default)Toggle the "Background Video" and "Auto-play" options to offThere you have it. No more endless episodes after you fall asleep, and no more trying to read show descriptions while a trailer plays. The DC Universe's roster of original programming is about to get a little bit bigger. At the end of this month, the brand-new Harley Quinn animated show will premiere on the streaming service, complete with all the ultra-violent, slapstick mayhem you'd expect from the Clown Queen of Crime as she returns to her cartoon roots. But if you're expecting a resurgence of the Harley you remember from your Batman: The Animated Series nostalgia, you might be in for a surprise. Check out the full-length trailer for the show to get an idea of just what you're in for.If f-bombs and dirty jokes are your cup of tea, you're definitely in for a treat. The show, seemingly channeling other adult animated favorites like The Venture Brothers and Rick & Morty, takes Harley out on her own in search of a crew in Gotham City. But of course, finding reliable villains is hard even on the best day--and harder still when you're trying to duck and dodge around your horrible ex, The Joker. But Harley's nothing if not determined and hatches a scheme to enlist the worst of the worst. Which is to say, the bad guys who are just objectively horrible at everything they do.Seen in the trailer, Harley winds up mingling with C and D list DC rogues like King Shark, Dr. Psycho, Clayface, and Felix Faust as she goes galavanting around Gotham, running into fan favorites like Bane, Two Face, and Scarecrow. All the while, she's got her sardonic best friend Poison Ivy (channeling the dead-pan humor of someone like Daria of MTV's Daria) to help keep her on the level.Harley Quinn hits the DC Universe streaming service on November 29. In a recent company earnings call, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa spoke about remasters and remakes. Though Nintendo has no concrete plans right now, Furukawa stated that the company is open to the idea if a developer is passionate about the project.Furukawa was asked whether Nintendo has intentions to release more remakes, following the success of games like The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu & Eevee. He said Nintendo has no "defined policy to continuously release more remakes in future" and expressed that nostalgia should not be the main reason for pursuing older titles."[T]he titles we've developed over our past 30 years in the dedicated video game system business have been played by and fondly remembered by many people, and these are an important asset to Nintendo as well. Nostalgia can be very appealing, but it's more important to be able to create new game experiences and fun, etc., even within remakes of classic titles."And I think that the most important factor is whether the developers are passionate about wanting to remake a game," Furukawa said. "A good recent example of this is The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, as you mentioned. Consumers all over the world responded positively to both its nostalgic elements and new features."Earlier this month, Wall Street Journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki said Furukawa is looking into "mak[ing] more 3DS franchises available on Switch." It's unclear what titles he is talking about specifically, but Brain Age, a series that has been on Nintendo's handhelds since 2006, is getting a new entry this December in Japan. The game is also expected to launch on January 3, 2020 in the West.Info from Gamespot.com

Hesse said he worked with director Jeff Fowler and the various production departments across the world to make Sonic closer to the source material. The work he did with his team seemed to have worked, as fans are much more enthusiastic about Sonic's new look. Honored to have been brought in to lead the design on the new Movie Sonic. In Death Stranding, you'll find yourself delivering all sorts of items for the strange and eccentric survivors in Hideo Kojima's post-apocalyptic world. Whether it's bringing classic game consoles to the Collector or delivering well-aged wine to those in the furthest reaches of the map, you'll be putting in the leg work to ensure you can form bonds with the many characters you'll come to know. However, there's one especially strange series of deliveries that's worth taking the time for.In Episode 3, you'll eventually get an optional order in Lake Knot City asking you to deliver a pizza. Shipping to Peter Englert, a prepper in the west, you'll have to bring the hot item to his shelter in under an hour--even less if you choose to take on the premium delivery challenge. Once you deliver the cargo, you actually won't speak to him directly, the terminal's automated system will take care of the handoff. Once that's done, you'll eventually get a follow-up message from Peter thanking you for the pizza. Later on, the mystery man will send you an email asking for another one, this time, presenting clues on where to find the pizza, which you'll need to deliver in the same fashion. What makes delivering pizzas in Death Stranding a bit of challenge is that it is sensitive cargo that must be stacked horizontally at all times. The worst thing you can do to a box of pizza is to place it on its side, and in Death Stranding, that will cause it significant damage. To ensure that you can keep the item safe and sound, always make sure that you have items in your backpack before placing it into your inventory. If you have a full set of cargo in your backpack, the pizza will stack on top of it. Also, avoid using the auto-arrange feature when carrying pizza. While this feature can come in handy most of the time, it will ignore requirements for sensitive cargo to optimize the layout for Sam's inventory. This means that it will more than likely pack the pizza vertically to make space. If you want to avoid messing with your inventory, grab a truck and place the pizza inside its cargo hold--instant pizza delivery truck! These missions may seem like an odd diversion and a waste of time, but if you stick with it, you'll come to find this questline has a somewhat surprising payoff. In total, there are about four different pizza delivery missions throughout the game. Eventually, you'll be able to learn more about the identity of Peter Englert, and just what's inside of his shelter. Once you complete Episode 10, you'll be able to return to Peter's shelter and find the door wide open. For the sake of spoilers, we won't reveal what's inside. However, we can say it's a satisfying discovery which adds a lot to the overall plot. But if you're looking for a more tangible reward, completing all the pizza delivery missions will open up special upgrades for Sam's firearms, allowing him to fire rounds made from chiralium. Diablo IV might have been announced at BlizzCon 2019, but Blizzard is far from done with Diablo III. Seven and a half years after release, the latest patch for Diablo III has launched season 19, which will give returning players a new way to play. Major changes have also come in this update for the Crusader and Monk classes, as new class sets are now available for the game's two holiest classes. These changes, which we've got the patch notes for, have arrived on the PC, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.Diablo III Patch 2.6.7 | Notes: https://t.co/KPx9sjw00y▪️ Season 19: Season of Eternal Conflict▪️ Pandemonium Buff▪️ New Crusader and Monk Sets▪️ Bug Fixes pic.twitter.com/rHTq6mOJmP — Diablo (@Diablo) November 12, 2019The notes for Patch 2.6.7. explain the new season in full. As they point out, Season 18's buff displeased some players, as the Triune bonus didn't stick with their adventuring characters. Blizzard is doing things a little differently for the 19th season with the new Pandemonium buff, which introduces "new mechanics to add an element of both chaos and power to the battlefield". This buff focuses on kill streaks, giving you different rewards as your consecutive kill count rises higher and higher. Here are the notes for Pandemonium:For the duration of the Season, all players will have a stacking buff that that persists as long as you have hit or killed a monster within the last 5 secondsEach stack gives .005 movement speed and .001% bonus damage. This bonus caps at 50% movement and 100% damage (1000 stacks)In addition, after reaching a certain number of kills in a row, a power is unleashed, dealing an amount of scaling damage based on player level and difficulty or Greater Rift level: 15 Kills: Exploding Chickens seek and destroy30 Kills: A wide Frost Nova freezes enemies50 Kills: Corpses rain from the sky100 Kills: Five massive energy twisters are unleashed150 Kills: Dark Geysers form beneath enemies200 Kills: Treasure chests fall from the sky300 Kills: A ring of fire engulfs everything400 Kills: Meteors hail from above500 Kills: Angels descend upon the battlefield to fight for your cause (Angels should no longer one-shot Rift Guardians).1000 Kills: ?????Because powers are being tracked at a group level, only one can be active at a time, regardless of how many players you're rolling with, and it'll be interesting to see what happens when a player manages to stack 1000 kills. Two new rewards are available to players who complete the season, too: the Valor Portrait Frame and the Angelic Treasure Goblin pet. This patch also sees some new class sets roll out for the Crusader and Monk, including some new and returning Legendary powers. The new Crusader set, Aegis of Valor, brings in Heaven's Fury as the development team believes that it "matches the theme and adds more gameplay complexity." Here are the notes for the Crusader set:2-Piece Bonus: Attacking with Fist of the Heavens empowers you, allowing Heaven's Fury to deal 100% increased damage for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times (multiplicative).4-Piece Bonus: Hitting with Fist of the Heavens generates 5 Wrath and reduces damage taken by 1% for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 50 times6-Piece Bonus: Increase the damage of Fist of the Heavens and Heaven's Fury by 20,000%The new Monk Set, Patterns of Justice, seeks to incorporate extra damage reduction and better integration of the Temple Rush skill.2-Piece Bonus: Sweeping Wind gains the effect of every rune and movement speed is increased by 5% for each stack of Sweeping Wind.4-Piece Bonus: Attacking with Tempest Rush reduces your damage taken by 50% and increases Spirit Regeneration by 50.6-Piece Bonus: Hitting with Tempest Rush while Sweeping Wind is active will temporarily increase the size of Sweeping Wind after hitting over 30 times within a short period. Sweeping Wind damage is increased by 15,000%Further changes and bug fixes have been made in this patch, and they're detailed in the full notes. It's been promised that the other classes will receive similar treatment in future updates, with new sets being planned for all of them. Blizzard has also promised more themed seasons in the game's future, and Diablo IV is still a long way away, so expect plenty more seasons and updates for Diablo III.Info from Gamespot.com

The ninth Fast & Furious film, currently known simply as Fast & Furious 9, has finished filming, director Justin Lin has announced on Twitter. The upcoming blockbuster is due for a May 22, 2020 release, and will now move into post-production. Lin previously helmed multiple entries in the franchise, directing films three through six, before stepping away for Furious 7. In the tweet, he calls Fast & Furious 9 "by far the most ambitious film of the series."It’s an official #F9 Wrap! This is by far the most ambitious film of the series and I am forever grateful to our amazing crew from London, Edinburgh, Tbilisi (Georgia), Phuket & Krabi (Thailand), and Los Angeles. pic.twitter.com/ggFGxwHuz7 — Justin Lin (@justinlin) November 11, 2019Not much is known about the plot of the ninth film yet, as no official synopsis has been revealed. As Lin's tweet reveals, it was shot between "London, Edinburgh, Tbilisi (Georgia), Phuket & Krabi (Thailand), and Los Angeles," which is in keeping with the series' globetrotting nature. Judging by star Vin Diesel's Instagram updates, the film took 20 weeks to shootFast & Furious 9 will not feature Dwayne Johnson, who stepped away after very public feuds with series stars Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson in favor of crafting the spin-off project Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. But it'll feature several other returning stars, including Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren from the eighth film in the series, as well as Michelle Rodriguez, who returns after publicly grappling with the ways the series has handled women. This installment will also add franchise newcomers John Cena (WWE) and Michael Rooker (Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy). The Fast & Furious movies have followed an unusual naming pattern so far, refusing to stick to a specific naming convention: The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious. With this in mind, it would be surprising if Fast & Furious 9 ended up being the film's final title.Fast & Furious 10 has already been announced for an April 2, 2021 release, and is currently in pre-production. To date, the series has made over $5 billion at the international box office. The Fate of the Furious and Furious 7 are the second and third highest grossing American films in China of all time, after Avengers: Endgame. Info from Gamespot.com

Disney's new Star Wars TV show, The Mandalorian, is finally out in some parts of the world with the release of Disney+. One of the show's main actors, Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man, Jack Reacher), has given Variety an interview about it, and it contains some surprising and delightful answers.Herzog, who hasn't seen any Star Wars movies before, told Variety is "doesn't really matter" that he isn't too knowledgeable about the source material. Show creator Jon Favreau helped brief Herzog on what he needed to know, and that was enough."You see, it was a very lively exchange, man-to-man so to speak, between Jon Favreau and myself. I was not tossed into unknown territory. I was very well briefed," Herzog said. "I knew what was expected of me--I knew the interior landscape of the character and I knew the exterior landscape."Herzog added that he doesn't watch more than four movies every year anyway, so it's not surprising that he hasn't seen Star Wars.He does, however, watch some television--and the programs he called out are unexpected. He tunes in for WrestleMania and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. "As vulgar as they may be, it doesn't matter that much, but you have to find some sort of orientation. As I always say, the poet must not close his eyes, must not avert them," Herzog said.Herzog said he was drawn to Keeping Up with the Kardashians, specifically, because he is passionate about experiencing new things. "I'm curious; that's my guiding principal," he said.Continuing in the delightful interview, which you should read in full to completely appreciate, Herzog said he doesn't expect to watch The Mandalorian. It's only available on Disney+, and Herzog said he isn't very enthusiastic about signing up. He is already a subscriber to the Criterion streaming service, and he's enjoying that. "They have hundreds of films, and every one of them is great."In The Mandalorian, Herzog plays a character called the Client, a mysterious man who gives The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) a bounty to track someone down. GameSpot sister site CNET said Herzog's appearance in the show is "absolutely brilliant."GameSpot's review of The Mandalorian Episode 1 scored it a 7/10."With its first episode, The Mandalorian has made a statement about what a live-action Star Wars TV show looks like," Chris Hayner said. "Now, with the remaining seven episodes in Season 1, it needs to make a statement about how a Star Wars plot should unfold over a longer form of storytelling."Unlike shows on Netflix, episodes of The Mandalorian aren't released all at once. Future episodes will follow on a weekly basis, except for Episode 2 which premieres November 15.Info from Gamespot.com

iPhone company Apple is looking to expand its business into VR and AR, according to a new report. Bloomberg reports that the giant tech company might release a headset that combines virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in 2021 or 2022. This headset would have a "focus on gaming."Bloomberg added that Apple currently employs a team of around 1,000 engineers who are working on the company's various VR and AR projects. The team is said to be made up of executives who previously worked on Apple's gaming projects, among other things. Former game developers and graphics "experts" are also on the team, as are former NASA engineers, according to the report. The team is said to be operating out of a "nondescript area" in Sunnyvale, California, which is close to Apple's main HQ in Cupertino, California. The new VR and AR technology will reportedly join other existing Apple wearable products such as AirPods, Beats headphones, and the Apple Watch. With iPhone sales slowing down, wearables are primed to take more of a focus at Apple going forward, it seems. The Bloomberg report also claims that Apple is working on a new iPad for release in 2020 that would feature two camera sensors and a "small hole" for a new "3D system" that would allow people to create 3D models of objects, people, and rooms. This technology is also said to be introduced in high-end iPhones in 2020.Apple has been a big player in gaming for a long time already. The company recently pushed further into gaming with its Apple Arcade subscription service. Apple will be a latecomer to VR. Microsoft created a "mixed reality" headset that incorporates VR and AR called HoloLens. The headset could have interesting applications for gaming, but right now Microsoft is focusing on commercial instead of consumer use. In 2018, the US government paid Microsoft around $500 million for a contract to use HoloLens headsets to create new military equipment. Info from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released on October 25, meaning that some players have had a chance to put serious time into multiplayer and unlock Officer ranks. Officer ranks replace the prestige system from past games in the Call of Duty series, and allow you to chase a new XP target every season, unlocking new Seasonal Ribbons, Season Emblems, and Weapon Blueprints as you move between the 100 ranks available. Players are now be able to gain XP faster in Officer ranks by completing seasonal trials, now available on the main multiplayer screen.Trials are live in Modern Warfare! Put your skills to the test and earn XP rewards through various training operations. Click the link for details! #ModernWarfare https://t.co/UKOJt6Gpdn — Infinity Ward (@InfinityWard) November 12, 2019Developer Infinity Ward has announced that Trials have officially come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, describing how they work on Reddit. Once you level up enough to hit Officer ranks you'll start to earn tickets, which can be spent on Trials. One ticket grants you three attempts at one Trial, and you'll be judged on your performance at completion with a star rating between zero and three stars. Tickets unlock as you level up, but they also reset when the season ends, so it's best to use them as you earn them rather than hoarding. For a zero star performance in a Trial, you'll get 0XP. One star nets you 5000 XP, two stars gets you 7500 XP, and three stars earns 10,000XP. Performing well in Trials will help you climb up the Officer ranks faster and earn more rewards each season.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is also getting a battle pass next month in lieu of a season pass, which will let you unlock new items by completing additional challenges. Infinity Ward is working hard: the 725 shotgun has received a few updates in patches already, while the game has also received new maps and modes since launch. The game received a 7/10 in our review, saying that the multiplayer is "up to par, with a variety of game types for different kinds of players."Info from Gamespot.com

13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford filmed a scene for Marvel's Avengers: Endgame, but it was left on the cutting room floor. Langford never shared any official details about what the scene was, but now we know. Those who booted up Avengers: Endgame on the just-launched Disney+ streaming service might have noticed an "Extras" tab on the Endgame page which features a deleted scene: "Tony at the Way Station." This scene reveals all the details--SPOILERS FOLLOW BELOW.Tony Stark, in the wake of his fatal hero moments, enters a "metaphysical waystation" where he meets a young woman named Morgan. After a period of uncertainty, he recognizes her as the daughter he had with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).Morgan tells Stark that she "got to live [and] grow up," according to GamesRadar. She later says to her father, "I'm proud of you" for sacrificing himself and saving humanity with this selfless and courageous act. The scene ends with Morgan telling her father, "I love you." Stark then leans in and plants a kiss on her cheek; he replies, "I love you 3000."It's a nice scene, but it's not hard to see why it was cut. After all, the surviving members of The Avengers assembled for Stark's funeral which wrapped up his story in an emotional and impactful way.Directors Joe and Anthony Russo spoke about the deleted scene back in May and why they decided to cut it."What we realized about it was we didn't feel an emotional association with the adult version of his daughter. It wasn't resonating with us on an emotional level, which is why we moved away [from] it," the Russos said. "The intention was that his future daughter forgave him, and gave him peace to go. And the idea felt resonant, but there were just too many ideas in an overly complicated movie."This scene, and the entire Endgame movie, are now available to stream on Disney+. The film was initially expected to come to the streaming service in December, but Disney moved up the release to launch day. Ghost Recon: Breakpoint's 1.0.3 title update patch is available from today on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and the full patch notes have been released. The patch weighs in at 7GB on both PS4 and Xbox One, and a slightly slimmer 6.7GB on PC. It includes a number of bug fixes, tweaks, and improvements, as well as a few basic gameplay updates. Some major issues have been addressed--drones will now deploy reliably, and players should no longer respawn under the map. The "Mission Completion" tutorial pop-up won't display after loading screens anymore, and mission interactions are now prioritized over vehicle interactions. These are just a few examples, with the full patch notes listing many more. Some controls and mechanics have changed too to make for a more enjoyable experience. Players can now do a camera shoulder swap in cover, which was not possible before. Your character's base stamina has increased by 66% and regenerates 75% faster than before, while sliding now only consumes half the stamina it used to.
