This weekend saw three new wide movie releases in US cinemas, but there was a clear standout, with Ford v Ferrari outperforming expectations and comfortably topping the charts. The dramatization of Ford Motor Company's 1966 quest to build a car capable of beating Ferrari at Le Mans '66, which was directed by James Mangold (Logan) and stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale, brought in $31 million over the weekend according to Box Office Mojo. This is well above Box Office Mojo's pre-weekend projection of $22 million, and the film has earned strong reviews and excellent word of mouth, including a rare A+ Cinemascore from attendees. The movie carries a $100 million budget, but this is still a strong start (the film also made $21.4 million internationally), and there's a good chance of the movie performing well over the weeks ahead, especially if it gets award buzz.Charlie's Angels got off to a considerable weaker start. The new movie, directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska as the eponymous Angels, was third at the box office (below last week's Midway). It opened to $8.6 million, well below expectations, and much less than the 2000 iteration of Charlie's Angels (which opened to $40,128,550) and its sequel, Charlie's Angels Full Throttle ($37,634,221). It's not all bad, though--the movie picked up $19.3 million outside of America, and was made on a fairly modest $48 million budget. The other new wide release opening this weekend, The Good Liar, brought in $5,656,000. This is a low result, but the film was made on a budget of just $10 million. Elsewhere in the charts, Doctor Sleep dropped to 6th place with $6,181,000, meaning that it's still on track to lose money. Joker crossed the $1 billion mark internationally, making it one of the most profitable films of all time. Terminator: Dark Fate slipped out of the top ten, earning $4,375,000, and Waves, the new film from Trey Edward Shults (It Comes At Night), opened to $144,562 on just four screens. Here's the domestic top ten for this weekend, or you can view the full chart at Box Office Mojo.1. Ford v Ferrari: $31.037 million2. Midway: $8.75 million3. Charlie's Angels: $8.6 million4. Playing with Fire: $8.55 million5. Last Christmas: $6.7 million6. Doctor Sleep: $6.181 million7. The Good Liar: $5.656 million8. Joker: $5.635 million9. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil: $5.247 million10. Harriet: $4.780 million Info from Gamespot.com

Granblue Fantasy Versus, Arc System Works's upcoming fighting game spin-off from Japanese mobile/browser RPG Granblue Fantasy, has released a new trailer to show off its soundtrack selection. The trailer samples 15 tracks from the game and shows off some concept art alongside each piece. The first 11 tracks are character-specific, indicating the opponent you're fighting--it seems that each fighter will essentially get their own theme music. The full soundtrack will contain the complete versions of each of these tracks. The game will release in Japan on February 6, 2020, with a global release following soon after. It's exclusive to the PlayStation 4 for now, and the western release will feature an optional English dub. Every fighter in the game will have access to an easy-to-use "Skybound Art," which will be based on an ability from the original RPG, which will be tied to a cooldown timer. The developer, Arc System Works, is known for its fighting games, including the upcoming Guilty Gear and the BlazBlue series. We've previously looked at the game during its closed beta--you can check out an exhibition match in the video above, or take a longer look at gameplay from that beta.Info from Gamespot.com

Pokemon Go has quite a few events lined up for the rest of November, including the arrival of Galarian Weezing. Before then, however, Niantic is hosting the game's latest Community Day. This month's event takes place today, Saturday, November 16, and as usual, it'll offer players around the world a chance to catch a rare Pokemon and snag a special event-exclusive move.Typically, every Pokemon Go Community Day only runs for three hours, but the particulars of each event--from what time it starts to what Pokemon you'll be more likely to find in the wild and other bonuses that will be available--vary month by month. To help get you up to speed on this month's event, we've rounded up all the most important details about Pokemon Go's November Community Day below. Pokemon Go News Pokemon Go: Shiny Meowth Now Available As Part Of New Team Rocket Event Pokemon Go Adding First Gen 5 Legendary, Cobalion, Next Week Pokemon Go Is Getting A Special Research Quest Featuring Team Rocket Pokemon Go's November 2019 Community Day Announced, Features Chimchar What Is November's Featured Pokemon?Ahead of each Community Day, Niantic designates one "featured" Pokemon that will appear much more often than normal during the event. This month's featured Pokemon is Chimchar, the Fire-type starter from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Throughout the Community Day, Chimchar will spawn in the wild more often than it normally does. You'll also have your first chance of encountering a Shiny Chimchar during the event. These will be rare, however, so you'll need to be persistent if you're hoping to add a Shiny to your collection. What Is November's Special Community Day Move?Attention! Trainers who evolve Infernape during #PokemonGOCommunityDay or up to two hours afterward can obtain an Infernape that knows the Community Day exclusive move:🔥🔥🔥Blast Burn🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/XG6cRGJsCU — Pokémon GO (@PokemonGoApp) November 14, 2019Not only does the featured Pokemon appear more often in the wild during a Community Day, it is also able to learn a special event-exclusive move that it couldn't otherwise learn in Pokemon Go, but only if you can evolve it into its final form by the end of the event. That holds true for November's Community Day. If you can evolve Chimchar all the way into Infernape up to two hours after the event ends, the Pokemon will automatically learn the powerful Fire-type attack Blast Burn. This applies to any Chimchar you have in your collection, even if you caught it prior to the event, but it will only learn Blast Burn if it evolves during the designated time frame. What Time Does November's Community Day Start? As previously mentioned, each Community Day only runs for three hours, although the event often starts at different times depending on the month. Like last month's event, November's Community Day will take place early in the day, from 11 AM to 2 PM local time. That means you'll have until 4 PM local time to evolve an Infernape and learn Blast Burn. What Other Bonuses Are Available? On top of increased Pokemon spawns, Niantic offers a couple of other bonuses during each Community Day as an extra incentive to participate in the event. As usual, any Lure Modules you use during November's Community Day will last for three hours, rather than their usual 30 minutes. Additionally, Pokemon eggs will hatch at a quarter of the distance they typically require during the event, allowing you to hatch eggs more quickly than normal.Info from Gamespot.com

Joker is knocking on the door of a box office milestone. The movie is expected to hit $1 billion when the box office numbers for Friday come in, according to Variety. That is a huge and unexpected number for the movie, which was produced on a very modest $62.5 million budget. With a return that big, Joker will become one of the most profitable films in the history of cinema. It'll also become just the fourth DC movie ever to make $1 billion, joining Aquaman ($1.148 billion), The Dark Knight Rises ($1.081 billion), and The Dark Knight ($1.004 billion).Joker will also become the first R-rated movie to reach $1 billion (not adjusted for inflation) and the 44th biggest movie in history in terms of box office results.Because Joker was not expected to be such a commercial success, Warner Bros. sought outside investors to mitigate their risk if the film didn't land. Warner Bros. also reportedly gave director Todd Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix lucrative back-end deals so they are reaping the benefits of Joker's oversized success at the box office.DC has numerous new comic book movies in the works, including Birds of Prey (February 2020), Wonder Woman 1984 (June 2020), The Batman (June 2021), The Suicide Squad (August 2021), Black Adam (December 2021), and Aquaman 2 (December 2022). Galarian Weezing will appear in Raids from 2-3 PM local time, immediately following today's Community Day. After that hour, the Pokemon will periodically appear in Raids, so you'll still have a chance to catch it.As previously mentioned, Niantic has also added new avatar outfits for your trainer to Pokemon Go's Style Shop. Nicolas Cage, the Oscar-winning actor known for his roles in Leaving Las Vegas and the National Treasure series, is in discussions to play himself in an upcoming movie. That's right, Cage is reportedly finalizing a deal to play himself in a movie called The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which is a darn good movie title if you ask me. The meta-movie has the very best description. From The Hollywood Reporter:The character is desperate to get a role in a new Tarantino movie while also dealing with a strained relationship with his teenage daughter. He also occasionally talks to an egotistical 1990s version of himself who rides him for making too many crappy movies and for not being a star anymore.Amazingly, it continues:The Cage character is also under a mountain of debt and finds himself forced to make an appearance at the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire who happens to be a fan of Cage’s work and secretly hopes to show him a script on which he’s been working.Believe it or not, it gets even better. THR says Cage bonds with this man, but he later learns that he's actually a drug cartel boss who kidnapped the daughter of a Mexican president candidate who is working for the US government on intelligence-gathering. "The situation spirals even more dramatically when the Mexican brings over Cage's daughter and his ex-wife for a reconciliation, and when their lives are on the line, Cage takes on the role of a lifetime," reads a line from the description. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent will also contain references to famous Cage movies like Leaving Las Vegas (for which he won an Oscar), as well as Face-Off and Gone in 60 Seconds.Film company Lionsgate reportedly outbid companies like Paramount and HBO Max for the film. Tom Gormican (Ghosted, That Awkward Moment) is reportedly set to direct off a script from Kevin Etten (Scrubs, Workaholics).Cage is going to be paid big-time for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, it seems, as THR says the actor should earn a payday in the range of what he was making for the National Treasure series and Con Air. The new Torchlight game, Torchlight Frontiers, is not going to launch on time. Developer Max Schaefer of Echtra Games announced during an ExileCon panel today that the free-to-play action role-playing game won't make it out in 2019 as expected. He said so with a laugh, given there are fewer than 50 days left in 2019 with no update in sight. The delay out of 2019 is no surprise, as Schaefer told SegmentNext that 2019 was only an "early estimate." He added, "The bottom line is the game will ship when it's done."Frontiers is currently in alpha testing. It's in development for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.Frontiers features a "shared, persistent, and dynamically generated world" featuring hack-and-slash gameplay in dungeons stacked with creepy creatures and bosses.Echtra Games is headed up by Max Schaefer, who founded Diablo creator Blizzard North. A mobile version of the popular free-to-play RPG Path of Exile was announced at ExileCon this weekend in Auckland. From the start, the developers at Grinding Gear Games described the title as "experimental" in nature, which led to questions about whether or not it would be released. Grinding Gear founder Chris Wilson told GameSpot that he hopes to release Path of Exile mobile, but not until the company can answer the important questions about what the game even should be. The studio has created a slice of the game aimed at what hardcore fans want to see, but where it goes from there--if Grinding Gear decides to continue the project--remains to be seen."I'd certainly like to release it--but if it's bad, we won't bother," Wilson told GameSpot. "It's looking good, so I'm expecting a release. [But] there's questions. Does it have the Path of Exile 2 content? We can do that. I can basically press a button and it's running on it. So it's a matter of what do we want to position it as. Does it have its own storyline. We haven't decided this kind of stuff yet."Path of Exile Mobile was announced during the ExileCon keynote with a silly, tongue-in-cheek trailer poking fun at some of the popular industry trends around mobile games. Path of Exile Mobile will not have any pay-to-win elements, and it's being developed in-house as opposed to at a different studio. The announcement trailer is well worth a watch--check it out in the video embed above. The Epic Games Store is offering another free game through its store. This time it's The Messenger, the retro throwback that takes inspiration from the early Ninja Gaiden games as well as exploration games like Metroid. It will be available through November 21.The Messenger is notable for its humorous writing and a time-travel mechanic that plays into the exploration challenges. You're accompanied by a demon companion who cracks wise and revives you after death. The Messenger usually costs $20, but if you add it to your Epic Games library during the free window it will be yours forever. Developer Sabotage Studio also has released the game's first free DLC, Picnic Panic, which will be included with the copy."The Messenger takes the best parts of the action-platformers it takes influence from and reinterprets them well," Alexander Pan said in GameSpot's review. "With clever writing, well-designed levels, and balanced difficulty curve, the game continuously hooks you with enticing skill-based challenges and satisfying payoffs. Pokemon Sword and Shield are finally out on Nintendo Switch, and you'll spend much of your time in the games exploring the Wild Area--a vast open-world expanse that stretches across the Galar region. The Wild Area is home to a variety of different Pokemon, including some that will be a much higher level than you, making it a good place to catch and train monsters.Unlike previous games, however, Sword and Shield won't just let you capture any Pokemon you encounter during your journey--at least, not right away. While attempting to capture certain monsters, you'll likely notice a message that says the Pokemon "won't drop its guard." So what does this mean, and how do you catch these Pokemon? The short answer is you can't. In a departure from previous games, Sword and Shield restrict the level of the wild Pokemon you can catch depending on how many badges you have. For example, if you have one badge, you can only catch wild Pokemon that are up to level 25. That means any time you attempt to capture a monster that's above that level, you'll see a message that the Pokemon won't drop its guard.Of course, just because you can't catch these Pokemon doesn't mean there isn't an incentive to challenge them. If you're confident in your battle skills, taking on these strong monsters will be a good source of experience points, and because Exp. Share is always enabled, every Pokemon in your party will reap some benefit from the encounter, even if it doesn't directly participate in the battle. However, the disparity in levels can be pretty severe; you can encounter a wild Pokemon in the 50s while your party is still in the 20s, so exercise caution when challenging a strong-looking monster.Pokemon Sword and Shield are available exclusively for Switch. Every Pokemon game has those few Pokemon you just can't figure out how to evolve. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, there's one Pokemon in particular that doesn't evolve through any existing means: Milcery, which evolves into the adorable Alcremie. Trading, evolutionary stones, and other evolution-related items don't work on Milcery. Instead, it requires one of the strangest methods to evolve of any Pokemon to date.First, you have to catch yourself a Milcery. They can be found on Route 4 outside Turffield, and you can only encounter them through the exclamation points that pop up as you walk through the tall grass--you won't see one roaming the overworld. Once you have one, your next stop is one of the three Battle Cafes found throughout Galar. The Motostoke cafe is the easiest to beat, followed by the one in Hammerlocke and finally the one in Wyndon, but any of them will work. One of the many rewards you can get from winning the daily battle at a cafe is a Sweet of some sort. So far, we've found a Berry Sweet, Strawberry Sweet, Love Sweet, and Flower Sweet--we'll update this article if we find more. Each of these Sweets will have a description indicating that Milcery loves holding them, so give one to your Milcery and get ready for the weird part.Simply giving a Sweet to a Milcery isn't enough to evolve it. Rather, you have to spin the left analog stick in circles until your character does a fancy twirl followed by a pose--then Milcery will evolve into Alcremie. It seems the thinking here is that you have to stir heavy cream a bunch in order to make whipped cream... but regardless, you'll get a form of Alcremie corresponding to the kind of Sweet you had it hold. As far as we can tell, it's purely aesthetic, but the Pokedex will track and display each different form for you.Alcremie has the potential to be a great support Pokemon in doubles matches, so it's definitely worth the hassle; its signature move, Decorate, increases the Attack and Special Attack of another Pokemon on the field, which can be a boon in a number of situations. Like Sun and Moon, Pokemon Sword and Shield introduce new forms of old Pokemon to fit the games' region. These Galarian forms are loosely British-inspired--there's a Charlie Chaplin-like evolution for Mr. Mime called Mr. Rime, for instance. On the more Brit punk side of things, there's Galarian Zigzagoon and Galarian Linoone, black-and-white versions of the more run-of-the-mill ones first introduced in Ruby and Sapphire. And with their Galar forms, they also get a third evolution: the Gene Simmons-looking Obstagoon.Galarian Zigzagoon evolves into Linoone by leveling up as normal. To get Obstagoon, though, you have to put your Linoone to work. Linoone only evolves if it's participated in lots of battles--while I don't have an exact number, mine was in my team from nearly the beginning of the game, and it didn't evolve until around level 55 or so. The Pokedex indicates that the Galarian forms of these Pokemon came about because they have harsh street-urchin lives, so it makes sense that getting into lots of scrapes would turn one into a monster that looks like it's in Kiss. You can also catch Obstagoon in the wild once you've collected enough badges. Depending on the weather conditions, it'll show up in the Bridge Field region of the Wild Area, sort of near the Daycare. You can also find one past the lake next to Professor Magnolia's house if you ride your bike all the way west (it's technically Route 2). You'll want at least one Obstagoon you're willing to part with, because you can trade one to a Team Yell Grunt in Spikemuth for a Kantonian Mr. Mime.Obstagoon learns an interesting version of Protect called Obstruct. Direct contact from an opponent will harshly lower that opponent's Defense stat, which helps make Obstagoon's attacks hit harder while also protecting it for a turn. For more on Sword and Shield, be sure to read our review. Pokemon Sword and Shield's Galar region is inspired by the United Kingdom, and in that spirit, the games introduce a ghost-type Pokemon that's themed after tea. Sinistea, a teacup, evolves into a whole pot of tea called Polteageist. As far as Pokemon names go, they're some of the best. But they're also cool Pokemon, and it's not too hard to get them if you know where to look and what to do.Sinistea can be found in Glimwood Tangle, the cool mushroom forest between Stow-on-Side and Ballonlea. You'll have to rustle through the tall grass to trigger an exclamation point to pop up, and Sinistea is among the Pokemon that can show up when the battle starts.Once you catch a Sinistea, head back to Stow-on-Side and talk to the right-hand man running the marketplace stand. He sells a different "bargain" item every day, most of which are evolutionary items for various Pokemon. The item you're looking for is the Cracked Pot--if he's not selling it today, ask him for his next bargain to see if it'll come tomorrow. One you get it, all you have to do is use it on Sinistea the way you would use an evolutionary stone to get Polteageist.Polteageist's signature move is Teatime, which forces all Pokemon on the field to eat their berries at once. This can be useful if you think your opponent's Pokemon are holding berries that reduce the damage they'd take from a super-effective move, for example--that way, you can hit the Pokemon head-on for full damage right off the bat.For more on Pokemon Sword and Shield, be sure to read our review! There are a number of Pokemon with branching evolution trees, in which various factors can determine if a Pokemon evolves into one form or another. Gloom, for example, can either evolve into Vileplume via a Leaf Stone or Bellossom via a Sun Stone. Pokemon Sword and Shield introduce a new Pokemon with a branching evolution line, but uniquely, it evolves differently based on which version you're playing. That's only sort of correct, though. Sword and Shield each have an exclusive evolutionary item, and each one can be used to get a different evolution of the grass/dragon Pokemon Applin. In Sword, you can get a Tart Apple to evolve Applin into Flapple, and in Shield, you can use a Sweet Apple to evolve it into Appletun. As the names would imply, this family is all apple-themed. All you have to do is use the Apple on an Applin like an evolutionary stone. There's a boy on the west side of Hammerlocke who will clue you in to how to evolve Applin, and he'll even give you the respective Apple item. You can also find either a Tart or Sweet Apple under a tree on Axew's Eye in the Wild Area, and they're also one of the many sweets-related rewards for victory at the Battle Cafes in Motostoke, Hammerlocke, and Wyndon. While we haven't been able to test it yet, we assume that you can give an Apple to any other Pokemon to trade with a friend and get the other version's item in your game so you can evolve your Applin as you please. We'll update this story when we can confirm if it works. For more on Gen 8, check out our Pokemon Sword and Shield review. We also have guides on other strange evolutions of new Pokemon, including Milcery/Alcremie, Galarian Linoone/Obstagoon, and Sinistea/Polteageist.
