Nintendo is notorious for not letting their games go on sale as often as other publishers, so Black Friday can be a crucial time for Nintendo fans who want to play for cheap. The shopping holiday usually sees huge discounts on just about every kind of consumer good, even including games released in the weeks just prior to the event, giving it huge potential for those who've patiently waited for sales on their favorite Nintendo games. Based on the Black Friday ads we've seen so far, Black Friday 2019 will have a number of great deals on Switch games, including some of the company's strong first-party offerings from this year. The same may not be true if you're looking to buy a Switch or Switch Lite, but if you already own one or plan to pick one up, you'll be able to round out your catalog for cheaper than usual.Where to find the best Nintendo Switch game dealsNintendo has announced its own official Switch deals, which will be available at a variety of stores, though things can vary from one to another. This year, retailers like Amazon, Target, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart will have some of the most popular Switch games for 33% off, dropping the price on games like Mario Tennis Aces, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey from $60 to $40. The exception here is Walmart and Target, which will have those three games for $30 each. Those five major retailers will likely account for the vast majority of deals on Switch games. That said, if you prefer to buy digitally, the Nintendo Eshop usually has its own sale on games, so you'll want to check those out during Black Friday weekend too; so far, only Europe's Eshop sale has been detailed, but we're expecting North America to follow soon. At this time, nearly all major retailers have released their Black Friday ads, including Best Buy, Target, Walmart, GameStop, Kohl's, Costco, and Office Depot.Nintendo will also have game deals on the Eshop. So far, only UK Eshop deals have been revealed, but we will add notable games from the US sale to the list below when the North American Black Friday sale is unveiled. For more Black Friday Switch deals, check out our guide to the best Switch console and accessory deals, which includes a familiar Switch bundle and discounts on multiple Switch controllers. The Nintendo Switch is entering Black Friday 2019 in a strong spot. Nintendo's latest console has had a number of great exclusive games, including Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Astral Chain, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Pokemon Sword and Shield. On top of that, the new Switch Lite has kept console sales strong as it tempts even current Switch owners to pony up for a second system. That means the console itself won't see too many big discounts, but if you're looking for some accessories to round out your Nintendo Switch gaming experience, we've got you covered. We've rounded out the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals right here, with more info to come as stores announce all of their deals for the season.Let's break the disappointing news right out of the gate. Judging by the Black Friday ads we've seen so far, the Nintendo Switch won't be getting a nice discount or even a particularly amazing bundle this holiday season. Instead, Nintendo has provided retailers with the same Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Switch bundle from last Black Friday. And yes, it still includes the launch model Switch, not the updated Switch with better battery life that hit stores a few months back. While the Switch Lite is prominently featured in ads, so far it's just that: an ad for the $200 handheld-only Switch, with no discount to speak of.That doesn't mean there won't be great deals on Switch accessories, though. You get the Switch and an awesome game that regularly goes for around $50 these days. However, please note this isn't the updated Switch with better battery life; it's the launch model. If you love Mario Kart and aren't concerned about the longer battery life, this is a solid offer; otherwise, you may be better off just buying the newer model for the same price and waiting for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to go on sale. We're highlighting GameStop's bundle here because you'll get a $25 gift coupon with your purchase when buying on Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday. Other major retailers will have this bundle, too. Best Buy is throwing in a free screen protector. See at Best Buy Nintendo Switch Kohl's bundle -- $300Nintendo Switch (new model) with carrying case and charging dock with $90 Kohl's Cash | $320 ($345)If you're not eager to grab Nintendo's official bundle, we know Kohl's will have its own bundle that does, in fact, feature the updated Switch with better battery life. For $320, you'll get the Switch, a carrying case ($20 value), and the popular PowerA Joy-Con Charging Dock ($25 value). The real draw here is that you'll get $90 Kohl's Cash to spend in the weeks following Black Friday. Nintendo Switch bundle with Crash Team Racing and Switch Online -- $305 Nintendo Switch (new model) with Crash Team Racing and 12-month Nintendo Switch Online family membership | $305 ($374)This might be the best Switch bundle this Black Friday. Google Shopping will bundle Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online family membership with the updated Switch with better battery life for $305. You're saving roughly $70 overall with this bundle. Google hasn't revealed when its Black Friday sale will begin, but we'll update this when more information is announced. Nintendo Switch Lite -- $175Nintendo Switch Lite | $175 ($200)Nintendo Switch Lite deals will be rare this Black Friday. In fact, the only one we've seen is from Google Shopping. But it will be a good one. We don't know when the deal will be available, but Google Shopping will have the gray Nintendo Switch Lite discounted from $200 to $175.GameStop will also have a Switch Lite promotion on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1. When you buy a Switch Lite at full price (turquoise, yellow, or gray), you'll get a $25 gift coupon. See at GameStop Best Black Friday Nintendo Switch accessory dealsNintendo Switch Joy-Con -- $53.60Nintendo Switch Joy-Con (L/R) Neon Red/Blue or Gray | $53.60 ($80)An extra pair of Joy-Con controllers normally sets you back $80, and even though you get "two" controllers, that's still pricey. Thankfully, Switch Joy-Cons will be on sale for $53.60 at Amazon, besting Best Buy and Target's $60 price during Black Friday. It seems you'll be able to choose between neon red/blue or gray. See at Amazon PowerA wired Switch controllers -- $15PowerA wired controllers | $15 ($25)Like Joy-Cons, Switch Pro controllers are expensive, but there are some reasonable third-party options like PowerA's lineup of wired controllers. Using the same layout as the Pro controller but with a slightly smaller form factor, PowerA's wired controllers are pretty darn good and come in three awesome designs: Zelda, Mario, and a Pikachu-yellow Pokemon theme. All three will be discounted to $15 during Best Buy's Black Friday sale. See Zelda-themed controller See Pokemon-themed controller See Mario-themed controller PowerA wireless Switch controllers -- $25PowerA Enhanced Wireless Nintendo Switch controllers | $29 ($45)These PowerA Enhanced wireless Nintendo Switch controllers are good alternatives to Nintendo's official Pro Controller. They don't support features like HD Rumble or NFC Amiibo scanning, but they do have two buttons on the back that can be mapped to a face button. This lets you keep your thumbs on the sticks while you're in the middle of the action. See at Walmart Poke Ball Plus -- $20Poke Ball Plus | $20 ($50)While the Poke Ball Plus initially launched as an alternative controller for Pokemon: Let's Go, it will also be compatible with Pokemon Sword and Shield, allowing you to "hold" one of your Pokemon and take it with you on the go (presumably to rack up experience points or earn extra items). However, it won't function as a controller for Pokemon Sword and Shield the same way it did for Pokemon: Let's Go. The Poke Ball Plus also comes with Mew, a mythical Pokemon that can be transferred into Pokemon: Let's Go. The accessory is normally $50, but most major retailers will have it for $20 during Black Friday. See at Amazon Nintendo Switch starter kit -- $15Nintendo Switch Elite Edition Starter Kit | $15 ($25)If you're buying a Nintendo Switch this holiday season, you should be in the market for a case, too. This starter kit comes with a carrying case, USB-C cable, silicone Joy-Con covers, and a microfiber cleaning cloth. It'll be discounted to $15 at Best Buy. See at Best Buy Insignia Power Pack -- $12.50Insignia Power Pack for Switch/Switch Lite | $12.50 ($25)For those who like traveling with their Switch (and who doesn't?), a car charger is a great accessory to have. This Insignia pack comes with a car charger, a USB-C cable, and an extra AC adapter. Having a second AC adapter is handy, as you won't have to unplug your AC adapter from your dock every time you want to take your Switch on a trip. See at Best Buy Mario or Luigi Fight Pad -- $15Mario or Luigi Wired Fight Pad Pro | $15 ($25)These GameCube-style fight pads will be on sale for $10 off at GameStop. Black Friday 2019 already has a ton of PS4 console deals going around, but if you're in the market for Sony's gaming system, PlayStation Plus is a must-have add-on. Plus lets you play multiplayer games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Destiny 2: Shadowkeep online, keeps all your saves in the cloud so you can access them anytime from any console, two free games each month for as long as you're a member, and bonus deals on the Sony's digital store all year round.A yearly subscription to PS Plus usually costs $60, but Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday will be the best times to shop for deals on PlayStation Plus. Last year, the service was discounted to $40 at numerous retailers, including GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. PlayStation also offered the $40 price on the PlayStation Store, so you could buy it straight from your console. In terms of announced Black Friday promotions, the best deal we've seen comes straight from PlayStation's Black Friday sale. PlayStation Plus 12-month memberships will be discounted to $45 on the PlayStation Store. While not a bad price by any means, subscriptions were readily available for $40 last Black Friday. The $45 promotion should be good at most major retailers.Best Black Friday PlayStation Plus Deals$45 -- GameStop$45 -- Amazon$45 -- PlayStation Store Black Friday 2019 Deals & News Black Friday 2019 Start Times, Store Hours: GameStop, Best Buy, Target, And More Black Friday 2019: Best Nintendo Switch Deals So Far Black Friday 2019: The Best PS4 Deals So Far Black Friday 2019: The Best Xbox One Deals So Far Black Friday 2019: When Does It Start, Deals To Expect, And More Info from Gamespot.com

Amazon has been rolling out the deals ahead of Black Friday 2019 for a while now as part of its Happy HoliDeals sale, but the biggest deals are finally starting to go live.As with Prime Day, Amazon's holiday deals page includes a mix of Lightning Deals--which are only available for a limited time--and longer-term deals that should be available throughout the duration of this first round of deals (or while supplies last). Following a round of early deals, the official Black Friday countdown has begun at Amazon, marking a week of deals that will run right up until November 29, Black Friday itself. Aside from this week of deals, expect one-time-only deals to launch throughout the day on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. We won't know what those are until they're live (thanks, Amazon). So far, Amazon's Black Friday sale includes many of the official offers from Sony and Microsoft. That includes an excellent PS4 Slim bundle with three console-exclusive games for $200, a limited-edition Xbox One X console with Gears 5 for $349, controllers for $39 each, and a 12-month PS Plus membership for $45, among other deals. Many of Amazon's own smart devices are starting to see steep discounts as well, like the Fire HD 10 Tablet for $100 ($50 off) and the Kindle Paperwhite for $85 ($45 off).Nintendo Switch console deals have been limited so far for Black Friday 2019. Later this week, Amazon will be offering the official Nintendo bundle, which is recycled from last year--the bundle will include a launch model Switch (without improved battery life) and a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. We'll have to wait and see if Amazon offers any exceptional Switch deals on its own, but we do expect to see some nice Switch game discounts as Black Friday grows closer. Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 loom large this week, and with them comes another hectic round of shopping around for the best Xbox One deals. The console has seen some excellent games this year, and if you've had your eye on a particular game now's the time to strike, since you probably won't see a better deal for most of them this year.We expect a large number of Xbox One games will be marked down, and with retailers releasing their ads so early this year, we have a good idea which games will be on sale. We've already seen recent releases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (as low as $38) and Need For Speed Heat ($30) get Black Friday price cuts, as well as some minor, limited discounts on Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and Shenmue III. According to early Black Friday ads, some games released at the beginning of 2019 will be available for sub-$20 prices (their lowest yet), including Resident Evil 2, The Division 2, and Kingdom Hearts III.If you're an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you can get limited-time early access to Xbox Live's digital games sale right now. While not always as cheap as the physical versions you'll find during Black Friday, those looking for downloadable games have a ton of options, including the full Assassin's Creed series, Sekiro, and more.In the meantime, we've rounded up the best Xbox One game deals confirmed for Black Friday below, and this story will be updated regularly as we spot more discounts. Black Friday and Cyber Monday mean huge discounts on everything under the sun, and you can expect to see some great Xbox One consoles and accessories, too. Xbox One consoles, controllers, and accessories are also compatible with PCs, too, which makes picking up a new Xbox One Controller or headset to enhance your gaming experience especially tempting this holiday season.Black Friday 2019: Xbox One deals to expectWe're expecting both the Xbox One X and Xbox One S to be discounted, in addition to its various controllers and accessories. If there's stock, it'll likely be on sale. Last year, we saw deals that brought the Xbox One X down to $400--$100 off its regular price. According to early Black Friday 2019 ads, Xbox One X bundles will dip to $350 during this year's sale. Meanwhile, Xbox One S bundles are going for $200, and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will be available for just $150 during Black Friday. As for accessories, it's likely we'll see numerous discounts, including the first edition of the Xbox One Elite Controller. The Elite Series 2 controller just released, but since it is a premium item, don't expect to see a heavy discount on it. The latest box office numbers are in, and Frozen 2 is unsurprisingly a huge success while the Charlie's Angels reboot continues to slide after its bad start.Frozen 2 opened in the US and Canada to a gargantuan $127 million, which makes it among the biggest openings in in history for an animated movie. Worldwide, the movie made $350 million after its first weekend, according to Deadline.Disney film executive Cathleen Taff said in a statement that the company is "thrilled" with Frozen 2's opening. "It's not easy to follow up the original Frozen," Taff said.Taff added that Disney is "cautiously optimistic" that Frozen 2 will continue to perform well into Week 2 and beyond. The movie doesn't have much competition in the family film genre until Jumanji: The Next Level comes to theatres in mid-December.The 2013 original Frozen made $1.27 billion at the global box office, and it'll be interesting to see how the sequel compares in theatres when all is said and done. The movie made songs like "Let It Go" and "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" inescapably popular, but so far the tunes of the sequel haven't lit the world on fire in the same way.Another new release this weekend was the Fred Rogers movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood starring Tom Hanks, which made $13.5 million. The new Chadwick Boseman movie, 21 Bridges, also opened this weekend and made $9.3 million. In other box office news, the Charlie's Angels reboot continues to perform poorly after its slow start. It made another $3.2 million in the US/Canada this weekend to push its total to just $13.9 million after a weak $8.35 million opening weekend. The movie is performing better internationally, with $43.5 million in total box office receipts.Elizabeth Banks--who wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the movie--commented on the film's failure on Twitter. Despite the underperformance at the box office, Banks said she is proud of the film and "happy it's in the world."Also notable is that Joker stayed in the Top 10 with a further $3 million to push its total domestic haul to more than $326 million. Globally, the movie has made $1.035 billion.Well, if you’re going to have a flop, make sure your name is on it at least 4x. We don't see deals for Nintendo games as often as we might like, which makes the times they do go on sale notable. Black Friday 2019 will some significant discounts on Switch games across several stores, and Nintendo's Black Friday page also says to "check back soon for more deals," which means more deals are on the way in the lead-up to the Black Friday. That said, the Switch (and newly launched Switch Lite) are selling so well we probably won't see too many deals on them, aside from the same Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle we saw last year, which is a bit of a bummer, admittedly.Nintendo game discounts are few and far between, which makes Black Friday 2019 an especially crucial time for savings-minded Nintendo fans. The shopping holiday tends to see some rare, significant on the publisher's games, as well as a couple of console bundles. We know some of the big deals Nintendo has to offer, and while they're not mind-blowing, Nintendo's Black Friday page says to "check back soon for more deals," though we're not holding our breath in the leadup to Black Friday. The Switch (and new Switch Lite) are selling so well we probably won't see too many deals on them, aside from the same Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle we saw last year, which is a bit of a bummer, admittedly.Still, we'll certainly be seeing an Eshop sale that will discount digital Switch games, presumably along with those for 3DS. In fact, Nintendo's Black Friday Eshop sale has already been previewed for Europe and includes the expected discounts on a mix of first- and third-party games. Among them are Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Cadence of Hyrule, and Dragon Quest Builders 2, all of which will be 30% off.Microsoft, Best Buy, and Target have also revealed the sales they'll have ready for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so make sure to check those out if you're shopping around. Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular and successful video game franchises ever, but to date, no movie based on the series has been made. In a new interview with TheWrap, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said one of the reasons why is because the company doesn't want to hand creative control to a different company. If a GTA movie were to happen, Take-Two would want to fund it itself to have control, Zelnick said. The company has the money to do this, but its expertise is video games, not movies."Part of it is, if we were to do something like that, we'd want to have complete creative control to make sure we expressed [GTA] in the way we wanted--and that would mean we'd need to finance that motion picture," Zelnick said. "While we have the balance sheet to do it, we don't have the corporate expertise to do it, because only a handful of people inside Take-Two have ever worked in that business. I'm one of them. But that's not what we do for a living."Zelnick previously served as the president and chief operating officer of 20th Century Fox where he oversaw production and distribution of numerous movies. He was only 32 years old when he was running Fox's film business. Also in the interview, Zelnick said GTA is the "most valuable intellectual property ever created by mankind." Owning and controlling the franchise and its future direction is very important to Take-Two, which is why Take-Two doesn't want to let an outside company make a movie."Are we really going to let go of that and hope that someone--no matter how talented they are--will do a really good job with it?" Zelnick said. The interviewer suggested that Take-Two is missing out on money by refusing to make a GTA movie, adding that George R.R. Martin struck a lucrative deal with HBO for Game of Thrones. That might have been a smart business move, but Zelnick pointed out, "George Martin's books are not worth what Grand Theft Auto is worth."Zelick is saying almost exactly what Take-Two president Karl Slatoff said back in 2013. At the time, Slatoff said a movie based on GTA could make a lot of money, but it might be a bad idea in the long run.Film and TV executives have approached Take-Two over the years about making a GTA movie, but the company has always said no--and that doesn't appear to be changing soon.Rockstar Games cofounder Dan Houser said in 2011 that Rockstar has "explored" numerous Grand Theft Auto movie deals, but has yet to be convinced to bring the series to the big-screen.In 2017, Zelnick told MCVUK that Take-Two would consider allowing outside studios to make movies based on its franchises, but only if Take-Two could have some kind of creative control. "We have licensed a couple of titles for motion picture production and we don't have much more to say about that yet," Zelnick said at the time. The newest GTA game, 2013's GTA V, has shipped more than 115 million copies. That makes it among the most successful video games in history. By comparison, Wii Sports--which was bundled with the Wii--has sold 82.88 million copies.A movie based on BioShock, which is developed by Take-Two's 2K label, was in the works with multiple different directors but series creator Ken Levine ultimately killed it.A Max Payne movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis was released in 2008. The movie didn't score well with critics, but it opened to No. 1 and it ended up making $85 million against a reported $35 million budget. Take-Two bought the Max Payne series from Remedy in 2002 for $34 million, but the situation surrounding the deal to make this movie are unclear.Movies based on video games have a history of being mediocre or worse, and that comes down to a number of factors. Still, they continue to be made. There are currently movies based on Uncharted, Sonic the Hedgehog, Call of Duty, Watch Dogs, The Last of Us, Metal Gear Solid, Mario, and Monster Hunter in various stages of production.Info from Gamespot.com
