With Half-Life: Alyx officially made public, Valve seems to be getting more comfortable with reveals. The company has given permission to an indie studio to show a behind-the-scenes look at F-Stop, the Portal prequel that never saw the light of day.F-Stop was a nonviolent puzzle game with DNA similar to Portal. The entire game--led by a Valve producer named Joshua Weier who worked on Portal and Portal 2--was centered around the "Aperture Camera," an item that could copy, paste, and rescale items in the game's world. Unfortunately, as revealed in a 2011 interactive book titled The Final Hours of Portal 2, Valve put an indefinite hold on the project after workshopping it for a while.LunchHouse Software, an indie studio currently working on its own physics-based puzzler titled Punt, is only now, almost a decade later, giving us a look inside what Valve had been planning. With Valve's permission and access to the F-Stop's official source code, Lunch House has peeled back F-Stop's curtain through a brand-new docuseries called Exposure. The first episode, while short, can be seen below. LunchHouse said more episodes are to come. The studio said Exposure, which will document F-Stop's various mechanics as Valve developed via the original source code, is "not based on speculation or hearsay." The first episode only shows the "base mechanics" of F-Stop, but the team at LunchHouse is excited to "[share] more with you all in the near future."Info from Gamespot.com

BBC America's stylish thriller-slash-drama-slash-romance (or, well, "romance") Killing Eve has been renewed for a fourth season, Variety reports. This announcement comes ahead of the show's Season 3 premiere, which is slated for some time this spring.Executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle called the early renewal "a testament to everyone involved that we have been picked up so early--the magnificent actors, writers, directors and production team. We are extremely lucky to work with such fierce and dedicated people."AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios president Sarah Barnett praised the show as an easy pick for renewal, calling it "the highest growing show on U.S. television for six years," and explaining that the devoted fanbase and repeated award show accolades are thanks to "this series' emphatic embrace is the brilliant women who breathed it into being: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emerald Fennell, Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, and its fairy godmother, executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle."Season 4's showrunner has yet to be set, but the upcoming Season 3 will continue Killing Eve's tradition of female talent with Suzanne Heathcote (Fear The Walking Dead, See) acting as both showrunner and head writer following in the footsteps of Season 1's Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Season 2's Emerald Fennel.Based on the Villanelle novel series by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve stars Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, and Fiona Shaw. 2018's A Quiet Place was a smashing success, so it was a no-brainer when a sequel was announced shortly after its initial theatrical release. Now, the first trailer for the followup has arrived, just a couple weeks after the recent teaser. The film will follow Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt) as she navigates the post-apocalyptic world with her three children--one of which is an infant. However, if you remember the first movie, there are blind creatures that attack anyone and anything that makes a noise. However, if you need to have a chat, just head to your nearest waterfall, as the creatures can't hear you there. Check out the trailer below. The latest film is taking a step outside of the farmhouse, as it will explore the beginnings of this invasion as well as what happened to the Abbott family after the events of the first film. Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds reprise their roles as the Abbott children. New to the franchise are Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou, currently in unnamed roles. However, it's apparent from the trailer these two men have a history together and possibly live together in complete silence. While John Krasinski won't be returning to play Lee Abbott--for obvious reasons--he will be returning to direct the movie. He joins Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, once again, as writers for A Quite Place 2 as well.A Quiet Place 2 hits theaters on March 20.Info from Gamespot.com

Pokemon Sword and Shield introduce a few exciting new features to the series, such as Max Raid battles. At certain dens dotting the Wild Area, you can team up with three other trainers--either locally or online--and take on supersized Dynamax Pokemon together.Pokemon you encounter in these Max Raids are special in a few different ways. First, there's a chance the monster will have its Hidden Ability. Regular wild Pokemon you come across in Sword and Shield will never have their Hidden Ability, making this the only way to obtain it in the games (outside of breeding, and in that case one of the parents would need to have the Hidden Ability in order to pass it down).Depending on the level of the Raid, the Pokemon will have a couple of perfect IVs (base stats) as well, making them useful for breeding if you're trying to put together a competitive team. You'll also receive an assortment of rewards for clearing Max Raids, including Exp. Candy and TRs, which can otherwise only be purchased with Watts (and are quite costly). Finally, Max Raids are the only way to encounter Gigantamax Pokemon; unlike standard monsters, these Pokemon take on a different appearance when they Dynamax.Which Pokemon you encounter in Max Raids is typically up to chance, but Game Freak periodically hosts Max Raid events that bring out certain monsters for a limited time, such as Shiny Magikarp and Gigantamax Snorlax. You can see the full list of Max Raid events happening right now in Pokemon Sword and Shield below. Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker has proven to be pretty divisive amongst Star Wars fans, and Disney's former CEO can now be counted among the less-than-impressed. In his social media reaction to the film, Michael Eisner called Episode IX "an acceptable film" that "lacks emotion."Eisner went on to stack Rise Of Skywalker against Disney+'s The Mandalorian, which recently wrapped up its first season on the new streaming service, saying that the series' showrunner Jon Favreau has cemented himself as the modern-day George Lucas.Daisy Ridley played Rey throughout the film with one expression: awe/fear until the very end of the film when she reveals her name. That’s what I meant by a film that somewhat lacked emotion. — Michael Eisner (@Michael_Eisner) December 31, 2019Daisy Ridley played Rey throughout the film with one expression: awe/fear until the very end of the film when she reveals her name. That’s what I meant by a film that somewhat lacked emotion. — Michael Eisner (@Michael_Eisner) December 31, 2019Eisner is certainly not alone in his Rise Of Skywalker feelings. Our reviewer, Michael Rougeau, called Episode IX a "galactic disappointment" layered with "cloying, saccharine sentimentality." In GameSpot's official review, he wrote "In the end, it all feels simply empty. It should never be so clear to audiences that something in the filmmaking process has gone so terribly wrong--that the people who made the first film in a trilogy apparently didn't bother to sketch out a plan for the second and third, and that the movies' directors had visions for the series' future that were so fundamentally at odds."The good news is, regardless of your Rise Of Skywalker feelings, the Star Wars bubble is far from busting. The Mandalorian has been renewed for a second season with Jon Favreau returning as showrunner, slated for release in the fall of 2020--there's even the potential for some Skywalker Saga characters to make the jump from big to small screens, so you'll definitely want to keep your eyes peeled. And if Baby Yoda and company aren't enough to get you excited for the future of Star Wars, Disney+ also has its Obi-Wan and Cassian Andor streaming TV shows as well. Fortnite's holiday-themed Winterfest event is wrapping up soon, but there's still a little time to complete its challenges and snag yourself some special rewards. One challenge that may give you some trouble asks you to visit the Workshop, Crackshot's Cabin, and Mr. Polar's Artisanal Ice. If you have no idea where any of those places are, don't worry; we've put together this map and guide to show you where to go.What Are The Locations You Need To Visit? As the challenge states, you'll need to head to three different buildings to complete this mission, and they can be tricky to find if you're not already familiar with the layout of Fortnite's island. Fortunately, each building is near a named location, so they shouldn't be too hard to track down. The Workshop is located southeast of Holly Hedges, on the way to Slurpy Swamp; Crackshot's Cabin is east of Eye Land, the island that's dead in the center of Fortnite's map; and Mr. Polar's Artisanal Ice is in the northeastern corner of Dirty Docks. You can see where all three buildings are located on the map below. How To Complete The ChallengeNow that we know where all three locations are, all you need to do is make your way to each one and you'll complete the challenge. You don't need to visit all three within a single match, so the quickest way to complete the challenge would be to head to one, get yourself eliminated, then jump into another match and go to another one until you've visited all of them.Fortnite's Winterfest challenges will only be around a few more days, so you'll need to act quickly if you're hoping to complete them and unlock the special Winterfest rewards. Titled "Children of Mars," a new trailer for the short film arrived ahead of its January 9 release."Children of Mars" will be the 10th episode of this series, exploring stories within the Star Trek universe that don't fit within the Discovery or Picard TV series. According to the official synopsis, "12 year-old classmates Kima and Lil find themselves at odds with each other on a day that will change their lives forever." Check out the trailer below. There is some speculation that this episode of Short Treks will have some connection to the upcoming Picard series, but the trailer doesn't lead us to believe that. And although Season 1 of Picard hasn't aired yet, it was picked up for a second season last October.Picard stars Patrick Stewart as the titular character and features many familiar faces from The Next Generation. Brent Spiner returns as Data, Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, and Marina Sirtis as Counselor Deanna Troi. While Netflix's The Witcher is solely based on the books, the TV series and CD Projekt Red's video game adaptation have now crossed over in an unexpected way. A popular song from The Witcher TV series can be seen in Geralt of Rivia's first adventure, 2007's The Witcher, thanks to a new mod.You can add "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher," a song performed by the show's version of Dandelion at the end of the second episode, to the original Witcher PC game by downloading Hubert Wiza's mod from Nexus Mods. Once installed, it appears as an in-game cutscene during The Witcher's third chapter. The song replaces Dandelion's performance at The New Narakort Inn.The Witcher's main campaign is lengthy and getting to the third chapter just to see the cutscene could take a while, so Wiza uploaded the full performance to YouTube for your convenience. You can check it out below. This mod really capitalizes on The Witcher games' recent resurgence in popularity. Since The Witcher TV adaptation debuted on December 20, the games have seen huge player spikes on Steam. CDPR's third installment in particular, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, had more people playing than ever before since its 2015 launch. Though the show and the game remain separate entities, CDPR and author Andrzej Sapkowski recently settled a royalties dispute that "confers new rights" to the developer.Prior to Netflix's The Witcher receiving less than favorable reviews from some critics, the show had been picked up for a second season. In our The Witcher Season 1 review, we said, "If you're utterly devoted to the world of The Witcher, you'll certainly enjoy the familiar aesthetic and characters, but beyond that, this series is hard to recommend."Info from Gamespot.com

Netflix has released a list of its most popular titles released in 2019, and some of the entries on the list might surprise you. While major releases like Stranger Things 3 and The Irishman make the cut, along with box office smashes like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Incredibles 2, the most popular title of the year is going to come as a shock.Murder Mystery, the comedy starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, takes the top slot on Netflix for 2019. Does this mean it was actually the most-watched movie on the streaming service, though? Not necessarily. As The Hollywood Reporter points out, Netflix determines popularity based on how many people watch at least two minutes of a movie or show within the first 28 days of release. The streaming giant, however, does not release statistics showing how many people actually finished any given title.Other movies that made the list include Michael Bay's 6 Underground, Triple Frontier, and Wreck-It Ralph 2. The holidays might be over, but Destiny 2's holiday event, The Dawning, is still in swing. The short-term activity sends you around the solar system to bake and deliver treats in order to complete bounties and fix up a special holiday sparrow. The Dawning this year adds more characters to your treat delivery rotation, including a few villainous characters--like Riven of a Thousand Voices, the final boss of the Last Wish raid. If you're still figuring out how to create all the confections, check out our complete Destiny 2 Dawning recipe guide. In most cases, the only way to reach a raid boss is to actually complete a raid, which requires six players and a whole lot of coordination and skill. With the Last Wish raid, however, things are a bit easier. You don't need to fight through the other encounters of the raid in order to reach Riven thanks to the Wishing Wall.To get to Riven, spawn into the Last Wish raid on the Director map for the Dreaming City. After you enter the first room and listen to Riven's monologue, head through the hole in the left wall until you reach the Kalli encounter. Instead of dropping down to where Kalli waits, jump across the pool to the left to find a path of ledges you can climb up to a hidden room that houses the Wishing Wall. You want to shoot the emblems on the wall to create a specific pattern: the Seventh Wish. Here's what it looks like. The Wishing Wall requires you to shoot each of the round emblems in order to change the image that appears on it. Bring slow-firing guns with lots of ammo.Once you enter the right combination, step onto the circular plate on the ground to get teleported to the encounter with Riven. When you arrive, head over to the circle plate to the right and stand on it to get sent downward to the actual fight with Riven. When you arrive, you'll see a small blue snowflake-like projection on the floor near Riven's feet. Activate it and you can deliver the cookie--and you're free to head back to orbit before things get intense.Once you get to the room with Riven, look for a snowflake projection that'll let you pass the boss its gift. 2020 is just around the corner, and Pokemon Go is kicking off the new year with a variety of in-game activities. Niantic has outlined some of the events it has lined up for the hit Pokemon mobile game in January, and they include the return of a Legendary, a new Research Breakthrough reward, the debut of new Gen 5 Pokemon, and more.First, Niantic will roll out another new Special Research questline revolving around the villainous Team Rocket. Like December's Team Rocket Special Research, this questline will culminate in a battle with Team Rocket boss Giovanni, and if you can defeat him, you'll earn a chance to capture another Shadow Legendary Pokemon, Moltres.A new month also means a new batch of Field Research tasks to complete. Each time you achieve a Research Breakthrough in January, you'll encounter a special Lapras with either Ice Shard or Ice Beam. The last time you could get a Lapras with either of these attacks was back in 2018, making this another chance to add one to your collection if you missed it the first time around. On top of that, the Adventure Sync Hatchathon event is coming back from January 2-16. During that time, you'll be able to earn rewards like extra Stardust, Rare Candies, and a Unova Stone--which is useful for evolving certain Gen 5 Pokemon--by walking certain distances. You'll also be able to hatch and encounter wild Pokemon that are wearing party hats during the event.Shortly after the Hatchathon kicks off, the Legendary Pokemon Heatran will make its return to Pokemon Go. You'll be able to find the Lava Dome Pokemon in five-star Raids from January 7 to February 4, and this time around, you'll also have a chance to encounter its Shiny form. Finally, Niantic is teasing that some more new Pokemon will begin appearing in Pokemon Go soon. The developer has hinted that more Pokemon originally discovered in the Unova region are on their way to the mobile game, although it hasn't shared any more details beyond that, so it remains to be seen which new Gen 5 monsters will debut next month. You can read more details about Pokemon Go's January events on the game's official website. In the meantime, you have until January 7 to catch the game's current Legendary, Virizion. Pokemon Go's January Community Day is also set for Sunday, January 19, although Niantic hasn't revealed what the featured Pokemon will be just yet. You can catch up on more Pokemon Go news below.
