Xbox Game Pass has kicked off the new year with a bang. While a full list of new arrivals for January has not been announced, Microsoft announced this week that it has added Grand Theft Auto V to the Xbox One edition of the service, letting you play the full campaign or jump into GTA Online if you have a Gold (or Game Pass Ultimate ) subscription.GTA 5 received a positive critical reception including a 9/10 from GameSpot when it launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, but its ports to current-generation platforms and ongoing support for GTA Online have kept it going strong for years. Whether it's video games, movies, or TV shows, entertainment is filled with iconic tools of warfare, and much of the stories we love are defined by them; the Pulse Rifle is synonymous with the Aliens franchise; the Man With No Name's mystique and effortless cool is heightened by the revolver he whips out in the squint of an eye; and the sound of a bullet from the Intervention hitting an enemy immediately conjures up Call of Duty-flavoured nostalgia. These weapons are the focus of Loadout, a new show that will identify some of pop culture's most influential armaments and explore them in-depth. Each week, host Dave Jewitt will tackle a different weapon, delve into its origins, examine how it has been used, and lay out the impact it has had on pop culture. In Episode 1, Loadout takes hold of the revolver, a legendary weapon that has been present from the earliest days of cinema to the current era of video games. Why is it so popular? For Episode 2, Dave takes a look at The Intervention, a weapon that Call of Duty players will be intimately familiar with and, given its status as arguably the most meme-able video game weapon, you may know it even if you haven't played the shooter series. For Episode 3, Dave delves into the world of Warhammer 40k to explore the history of an iconic sci-fi weapon.Episode four delves into the history of the rocket launcher, a staple weapon for video games. Its use spans everything from first-person shooters like Quake and Doom, to fighting games like Smash Bros., courtesy of Metal Gear's Solid Snake. But the origins of the rocket launcher might surprise you. Episode five is all about the Pulse Rifle, which fans of Aliens will no doubt be very familiar with. The Pulse Rifle is almost as recognisable as the Xenomorph itself and went on to be featured in games, as well as influence other science fiction material.New episodes of Loadout will air every Saturday and you can find them on GameSpot's YouTube channel--make sure to subscribe so you don't miss an episode.Episode 5: The Pulse Rifle Episode 4: The Rocket LauncherEpisode 3: The BolterEpisode 2: The InterventionEpisode 1: Revolvers Info from Gamespot.com

Darksiders Warmastered Edition and Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition are remastered versions of the first two games in the series. Both games offer quality hack and slash gameplay and awesome atmospheres. Darksiders received an 8/10 in GameSpot's original 2010 review, and Darksiders II earned an 8.5/10 in GameSpot's original 2012 review. If you like what you play, you can move onto 2018's Darksiders 3 and the recently-released Darksiders Genesis, which introduces more role-playing mechanics and a new top-down perspective. Quite a departure from Darksiders, Steep is a 2016 extreme sports sim from Ubisoft. Though focused on snowboarding and skiing, Steep also has paragliding, sledding, base jumping, and wingsuit flying. 2020 is here, and with the new year, Sony has announced the first month of free PS4 games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. January 2020's lineup will go free beginning on Tuesday, January 6, so be sure to snag December's games--Titanfall 2 and Monster Energy Supercross--before then.Starting January 6, PS Plus users with a PlayStation 4 can claim Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Goat Simulator. This effectively gets you four games, as The Nathan Drake Collection is a remastered compilation of the first three games in the series: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (although only the single-player components are included in all three). Both of the PS Plus titles are free until February 3, and you'll have access to both of them for as long as you're subscribed to PlayStation Plus. Once they become available, you can claim them through the links below.PS Plus free games for January 2020Available January 6 - February 3Uncharted: The Nathan Drake CollectionGoat SimulatorGameSpot's Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection review scored the game an 8/10, thanks in part to its more stable frame rate and the "masterful pacing of Uncharted 2 and 3.""Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was a fine game in 2007, but its wrinkles are deeper now, its age more apparent," critic Mike Mahardy wrote. "With Uncharted 2 and 3, though, Naughty Dog transcended Drake's own small beginnings. The Nathan Drake Collection is a firsthand account of Naughty Dog's growth as a storyteller, and this collection is the best way to relive that history, and witness its transformation up close."Goat Simulator, on the other hand, is a hilarious romp through multiple open worlds that each offer ample opportunity for goat shenanigans. There's no denying it's a weird game, but if you're the kind of person who likes to mess around, inadvertently cause explosions, and stick your goat tongue to things to see what happens, then Goat Simulator is absolutely worth trying when it goes free with PlayStation Plus. Sony has announced the PlayStation 5 is coming this holiday season, which leaves less than 12 months for the company to announce all the details in preparation for launch. If Sony follows the roadmap set by the PS4, the PS5's big debut could be extremely close.PS4 Reveal Event's Date, Time, And LocationIn January 2013, Sony invited media to attend a special "PlayStation Meeting" to take place on February 20 at 6 PM PT in New York City. The showcase took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom, and it was during the event that the company outlined the PlayStation 4 launch plans. This event was the first we'd heard of the PS4's tech specs, with a detailed breakdown from hardware architect Mark Cerny. The event also showed the DualShock 4 controller with Share functionality, a PlayStation smartphone app, and promised games would be playable while downloading. It also gave a launch window of holiday 2013.If Sony follows this timeline, which would allow maximum time for its retail partners to prepare for the holiday season, we can expect a similar rollout of information. The debut would take place in the first quarter, possibly as early as February. The 2013 event was scheduled for the evening, giving US fans who wanted to watch live from home the opportunity to do so after work. That time would be all the more important now, as publishers have increasingly messaged directly to fans.E3 No-Show?Alternatively, Sony could hold its announcements for the second quarter, near or even overlapping with E3. The annual ESA event is usually a showcase for new hardware, and will likely be the first public hands-on with Sony's primary competitor, the Xbox Series X. Sony may skip the event altogether, as it did in 2019. It hasn't given any public indication that it plans to come back this year.Ceding the E3 ground to Microsoft would allow the industry's biggest event to focus almost entirely on Sony's chief competition. Sony may not be keen on giving Microsoft such a gift, so it could counter-program with its own event even if it doesn't attend the show. That could be the reveal of the PlayStation 5, or it could be a public showing that builds upon the momentum from an earlier reveal event. What We Know So FarWhenever Sony chooses to lift the curtains, it will add much more to the limited details we have so far. Sony has begun talking about the PlayStation 5, but very rarely and in a tight-lipped manner. In fact, the company only confirmed late in 2019 that the system would be called the PlayStation 5 at all.So far we know that the PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS4 games, and your older games will run faster thanks to the new system's solid-state drive. A leaked comparison video showed the load times on PS5 as compared to a PS4 Pro.Sony's official video comparing performance of PS4 Pro vs next-gen PlayStation pic.twitter.com/2eUROxKFLq — Takashi Mochizuki (@mochi_wsj) May 21, 2019We also know the system will use an AMD CPU based on a third-gen Ryzen. It will have eight cores of the Zen 2 microchip. The graphics chip will be a custom version of the Radeon Navi. All that hardware power is said to support 8K resolution, and ray-tracing for both graphical and audio effects. Sony has also confirmed it will include a Blu-ray disc drive, which can play 4K Blu-rays. Finally, it will be compatible with PSVR in some capacity, and Sony issued a statement promising increased energy efficiency as part of a UN initiative. The PS5 controller will replace the rumble tech from the last several PlayStation controllers with new haptic feedback. It will also include adaptive triggers on L2 and R2, which allows developers to adjust the resistance. Sony says that these two features working in conjunction with each other creates a unique simulation experience. A new UI will allow you to view more details about friends' games without opening the applications. What We Don't Know YetThat leaves plenty for Sony to reveal, whenever the company decides to do so. We haven't been given solid information on the price, release date, or launch lineup. We have no information on what the hardware--the console or controllers themselves--will actually look like. And the company's commitment to more nebulous ideas like PSVR aside, we don't know exactly what that means. Most significantly, we haven't seen any of these hardware or UI features in action. Hearing about features like ray-tracing is one thing; seeing the difference it can make to an environment in a real game is another one entirely. Seeing the PS5 load Spider-Man much faster than usual was nice, but a new console launch demands some graphical "wow" moments. Sony is sure to provide those with a look at next-generation software running on the PlayStation 5. PlayStation 5 News When Is More PS5 Info Coming? Nintendo is kicking off the new year with another look at one of 2020's biggest Switch titles, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Ahead of the game's release in March, the company has shared a new trailer that offers another brief glimpse at its gameplay--as well as our first look at a returning fan-favorite character. The video, which you can watch below, is presented as a commercial for Nook Inc.'s Deserted Island Getaway Package. An audience of Animal Crossing characters watches clips of some of the new tasks you'll be able to perform in the game, such as collecting material to craft furniture and paving pathways with a new trowel tool. What's most notable about the trailer, however, is that it also provides our first glimpse at Isabelle. Up until now, Isabelle has only been teased for New Horizons, but her appearance in the video confirms she'll indeed return in the game, and her excited reaction to the clips of island life seems to suggest she'll play a fairly major role.In addition to the trailer, Nintendo has released a handful of new Animal Crossing: New Horizons screenshots on the game's Japanese website, along with new key art. The latter in particular is interesting because it reveals two new characters and offers another look at Isabelle, who seems to be showing a village around the island--possibly hinting at her role. Harvey, the dog who runs the RV campground in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, can also be spotted in the background, confirming he'll likewise be returning in New Horizons. You can take a look at new screens and key art below.Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches for Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020. No pre-order bonuses for the game have been announced yet, but you can already reserve a copy at various retailers. You can learn more in our Animal Crossing: New Horizon's pre-order guide, and be sure to check out our roundup of everything we know about New Horizons to catch up on all the details that have been revealed so far.Info from Gamespot.com

In 2008, Dave Filoni brought Star Wars fans an amazing animated series that expanded on a conflict in the SW universe that the movies glossed over, the Clone Wars. Over the course of six seasons and taking place between the movies Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the battle between the Separatists and the Republic army--which consisted of Clones and Jedi. At SDCC 2018, it was revealed Season 7 would be arriving to Disney+. We're only a month away from the release of the new season, but what is this season going to be about and when does it premiere?Based on the trailer for the show's return that was released in August, this season of Clone Wars is headed a few different places, and we could even see a connection between this show at Disney+'s The Mandalorian. More than likely, this season will cover the final days of the Clone Wars.In the trailer which you can see above, Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan are seen together, and we know that Bo-Katan has possession of the Darksaber at this time--which Moff Gideon is seen holding in the final episode of The Mandalorian. The real kicker is the appearance of Darth Maul, whose history is tied to Mandalore, as he help cause the civil war there and took it over with the Shadow Collective. He also had possession briefly of the Darksaber and caused Death Watch--the Mandalorian group--to splinter. Needless to say, Maul's inclusion in this trailer may mean we'll finally get to see Palpatine's Order 66 playout in this final season, which will mark the end of the Clone Wars.Although it's a month away from the new season, Disney has yet to reveal exactly when the show will be hitting the service, outside of the month it will begin airing. We do know there will be 12 episodes in the season though, and we'll keep you updated when the specific dates are revealed.Clone Wars Season 7 release schedule:Episode 1 - FebruaryEpisode 2Episode 3Episode 4Episode 5Episode 6Episode 7Episode 8Episode 9Episode 10Episode 11Episode 12Season 7 of The Clone Wars comes to Disney+ in February. Pokemon Go is kicking off the new year with a variety of events this month, including the return of the Legendary Pokemon Heatran. Before it arrives, however, you still have a little time left to catch the current Legendary, Virizion, but you'll need to act fast as it leaves the game on January 7.Until then, you can encounter Virizion in five-star Raids. As usual, you'll first need to team up with other players and battle the Legendary Pokemon before you can earn a chance to catch it. Virizion is a dual Grass/Fighting type, which makes it especially vulnerable to Flying Pokemon like Zapdos and Lugia. Fire, Ice, Poison, Psychic, and Fairy types also have an advantage over Virizion.Once Virizion leaves Raids, the aforementioned Heatran will take its place until February 4. Heatran was previously available in Pokemon Go, but this time around, you'll have your first chance to capture its Shiny form. You can read more details on the official Pokemon Go website. In the meantime, Pokemon Go's Hatchathon event returns for another year from January 2-16. During that time, you'll be able to hatch party hat-wearing versions of Pichu and Wurmple, while party hat Pikachu, Raticate, and Wobbuffet will appear in the wild and Raids. You'll also earn extra Stardust, Rare Candies, and other rewards like the Unova Stone when you walk certain distances. On top of that, a new Research Breakthrough reward is available this month. Vince Zampella, co-founder of Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order developer Respawn Entertainment, will head up EA DICE's LA-based studio, the Los Angeles Times reports. Under Zampella's leadership, EA plans to expand the outfit and have it release an "original" game.Up until now, the LA-based DICE studio has primarily been responsible for providing support for DICE Stockholm, developer of the Battlefield franchise. According to the LA Times profile, the office will remain separate from both Respawn and DICE Stockholm under Zampella's leadership, but will "probably" be rebranded to establish its own identity."We will probably rebrand," Zampella says. "We want to give it a new image. We want people to say, 'This is a destination you can go and make new content.' I think they've kind of gotten the branding that they are the support studio for DICE Stockholm. I think rebranding is important for showing people, 'Hey! Come work here. We're going to do some amazing things.'"While he leads the LA DICE office, Zampella says he will remain on as head of Respawn. Meanwhile, Jedi Fallen Order director Stig Asmussen will lead Respawn's narrative-driven branch, Chad Grenier will oversee Apex Legends, and Peter Hirschmann will helm the previously announced VR Medal of Honor game for Oculus Rift called Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. Zampella teases "there might be more" projects underway at the studio as well.Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is slated to release in 2020. The game is set in World War II and has players assume the role of an OSS agent who's charged with subverting and fighting back against Nazis. In addition to a multiplayer mode, the game will feature a single-player campaign that is estimated to last 10-12 hours, along with mini documentaries produced in cooperation with World War II veterans.Prior to co-founding Respawn, Zampella co-founded Infinity Ward, the studio best known for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series. If there's something you're missing from your collection and you want it sooner rather than later, it can be a good deal--starting with the Season of Dawn, all Exotic Engrams are Fated Engrams, but you'll have to level up your Season Pass or wait for a random drop to get some. Be sure to purchase it on the character who's missing the Exotic, and note that you can only get one per week, so choose wisely which of your characters makes the buy. If you're a PC or Xbox One player taking advantage of cross-save, you can now potentially get Wavesplitter from the Fated Engram as well, thanks to the fact that it's no longer exclusive to PS4.Xur Item Lineup (January 3-7)Lord of Wolves (Exotic shotgun)ST0MP-EE5 (Exotic Hunter leg armor)Dunemarchers (Exotic Titan leg armor)Sanguine Alchemy (Exotic Warlock chest armor)Lord of WolvesLord of Wolves is a shotgun that can do a ton of damage with its burst-fire mode, making it great for PvP.Not too long ago, Lord of Wolves dominated the Crucible, but Bungie has since adjusted the gun to make it less dominant in PvP activities. It's still a very handy weapon, however, thanks to its two firing modes. The standard firing rate is similar to most shotguns, while holding the reload button switches to Release the Wolves mode, which fires a longer, more powerful shotgun burst of several shots. Think of it like a shotgun that shoots like a fusion rifle--which makes it pretty devastating.ST0MP-EE5 (Hunter)If you've got touch jumps to make ST0MP-EE5 are a must.Though they're among the oldest Exotic armor in Destiny 2, for Hunters, the ST0MP-EE5 boots are a must. They increase your sprint speed, slide distance, and jump height, which makes them phenomenal for tough platforming areas featured in The Whisper or the Pit of Heresy. Those mobility bonuses can also make them great in PvP situations, too. Put these boots in your rotation if you haven't already.Stats:Mobility: 18Resilience: 6Recovery: 2Discipline: 10Intellect: 6Strength: 6Total: 48Dunemarchers (Titan)Sprinting makes your melee more powerful with Dunemarchers equipped. It's not just Hunters who can enjoy an Exotic that makes them quicker; Titans also get a boost to their mobility with Dunemarchers. These boots increase your sprint speed, but with a violent bonus--sprinting builds up a static charge that you can release on enemies when you melee them. Punching an enemy with a charge built up will chain lightning to their nearby allies.Stats:Mobility: 13Resilience: 7Recovery: 6Discipline: 6Intellect: 6Strength: 12Total: 50Sanguine Alchemy (Warlock)One of a few Warlock Exotics that power up your Rifts, Sanguine Alchemy can help make you and your teammates more effective. There are several Exotics that boost Warlock Rifts, depending on the effects you need for a given situation. Sanguine Alchemy gives you and your teammates "heightened senses" when you stand in Rifts. That effect maintains your radar even when you're aiming down sights and marks powerful enemies, allowing you to see them even when they're out of your direct line of sight.Stats:Mobility: 12Resilience: 7Recovery: 8Discipline: 6Intellect: 12Strength: 6Total: 51Info from Gamespot.com
