When Alienware teased a portable gaming PC with detachable controllers, the comparisons to the Nintendo Switch seemed apt and obvious. Now that Dell has shown off the Concept UFO at its CES 2020 showcase, it's actually even more Switch-like than we'd previously thought.The stage presentation hosted by Aisha Tyler ended with a number of concept PCs, including foldable laptops. The final concept tech was the UFO from Alienware. The stage presentation showed the controllers detaching and then being attached to a hub very much like the Switch's Joy-Con Grip. Battlestate Games, the studio responsible for Escape From Tarkov, said it has no plans to add women as playable characters to its fictional first-person military shooter. The reason, according to the developer, is because women require too many animations and call for "a huge amount of work."Battlestate took to Twitter to confirm that, while it respects women both as people and active military participants, the studio won't add playable female characters because game lore won't allow it. United States congressman Duncan Hunter, a Republican representative from California who in December pleaded guilty to using campaign funds to pay for video games and flights for his pet rabbits, has announced plans to resign in the wake of the fallout. According to The San Diego Tribune, Hunter--who was known for vaping during Congressional sessions--informed California governor Gavin Newsom and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of his intentions to retire on Tuesday. He will officially quit his job on January 13.In his resignation letter, Hunter said he was honored to serve the people of California's 50th district over the past decade. "I greatly appreciate the trust they have put in me over these last 11 years," he said.In December 2019, the Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California announced that Hunter admitted to how he "knowingly and wilfully stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds that he and his wife used to maintain their lifestyle."Along with his wife, Hunter is said to have used more than $150,000 in campaign funds between 2010 and 2016 on things that benefitted his family's "personal use and enjoyment." Hunter reportedly took part in "30 or more illegal transactions" related to this money.Hunter pleaded guilty to conspiracy to convert campaign funds to personal use. This is federal felony that carries a maximum prison sentence of five years and a $250,000 fine, though it's expected he will not serve that much time. Fantasy Flight Interactive, the video game division of the tabletop game company Fantasy Flight, is closing up shop. Tim Gerritsen, the boss of the Madison, Wisconsin-based studio, announced the forthcoming closure of the studio in a post on LinkedIn."It's with great sadness that I have to report that the decision has been made to close Fantasy Flight Interactive next month," Gerritsen said. It's a been an amazing journey with even more amazing people."Fantasy Flight Interactive's one and only game is Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game, which was produced under license by the Lord of the Rings licensing company Middle-earth Enterprises. It's notable for, among other reasons, being the first adventure card game based on The Lord of the Rings.Gerritsen went on to say that he is working to help affected staffers find new positions, while he will also be looking for new work following the closure of Fantasy Flight Interactive in February.
