In August 2019, popular streamer Tyler Blevins (aka Ninja) signed an exclusivity deal with Mixer, moving away from Twitch and fast building up a huge following on his new platform. It was clear that a lot of money must have been involved in the transaction, and now a new report is offering a ballpark figure.According to an article on CNN about streamers being offered lucrative exclusivity contracts, Ninja's deal was likely worth between $20-30 million. This figure comes from Justin Warden, who is the CEO of marketing and talent management company Ader, and who claims to have inside knowledge of the deal. This was for a multi-year deal, and still likely represents the largest deal a streamer has gotten for exclusivity. Ninja is so popular that he has his own skin in Fortnite, the game he is most famous for streaming.Back in 2014, Amazon spent $1 billion acquiring Twitch, which Mixer (owned by Microsoft) is in direct competition with. Other streamers who have left Twitch for Mixer deals include Shroud and Ewok, a deaf teenage Fortnite streamer. Mixer is just one of the streaming platforms Twitch now competes with--YouTube and Facebook Gaming are also nabbing streamers. Info from Gamespot.com

Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski created The Witcher fantasy series of novels, which was adapted into celebrated video games by CD Projekt Red. The books also served as the source material for the recently released--and very popular--Netflix TV show that's coming back for second season in 2021. Sapkowski recently gave an interview to i09 about the show, and he had some wonderful responses. Asked to compare the TV show to the video games, Sapkowski said he's not a great person to ask because the only games he has ever played are bridge and poker. Furthermore, TV shows and video games cannot be compared because they are too different, he said."I cannot compare anything to video games, because I have never played any. Since I was a kid I haven't played any games--with a possible exception of bridge and poker. Video games are simply not for me, I prefer books as entertainment," he said."Anyway, in my opinion TV series and video games--any of them--cannot be compared. They are too different in approach, making--and objective," he added. "You cannot compare spaghetti carbonara with a bicycle. Even though both have advantages and disadvantages."Also in the interview, Sapkowski says he wasn't very involved in the production of the Netflix show because, "I do not like working too hard or too long." And on the subject of The Witcher Season 2, Sapkowski isn't getting his hopes up. "Allow me to quote Joe Abercrombie, the author whose books are very much to my liking: 'Life is, basically, f**king sh**. Best to keep your expectations low. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised,'" he said. The rest of the interview is delightful and well worth a read for fans of the show and those who want to read a refreshingly frank and dark interview. The Witcher TV show sparked renewed interest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which recently enjoyed its biggest day ever on Steam. CD Projekt Red's next game is this September's Cyberpunk 2077, but the Polish studio has teased that it might make The Witcher 4 someday.Info from Gamespot.com

While last year's Dark Phoenix was the seemingly end of the main X-Men series, following its commercial failure and the Disney/Fox deal, there is a spin-off movie waiting in the wings. The New Mutants was shot way back in 2017, and has suffered a series of delays ever since. But it's finally set to hit theaters in April, and a new poster has been released. The film is a horror-themed superhero movie and the spooky new poster certainly captures this vibe. It shows the five young stars--Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, and Charlie Heaton--with the movie's title placed over their faces, revealing their skulls. Check it out below:This poster follow the most recent trailer, which was released earlier this month. The New Mutants releases on April 3 and also stars Alice Braga (Elysium), Antonio Banderas (Spy Kids), and Happy Anderson (Mindhunter). It's directed by Josh Boone, who previously made the hit teen drama The Fault in our Stars and is the co-writer and director of the upcoming TV adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand. The New Mutants was originally set for an April 2018 release, but rumors of extensive reshoots and repeated delays caused some to wonder if we'd ever actually see it--including the film's own exasperated cast members. But not only have a new trailer and poster arrived in the past few weeks, Boone himself recently posted an image of the main cast assembled to watch the final film. So whatever happens now, at least they've seen it. For more, check out GameSpot's guide to everything we know so far about The New Mutants.Info from Gamespot.com

WWE's 2020 Royal Rumble PPV is finally here, and you can check out our live updates and results from the event as well as GameSpot's review of the show. If you're interested in the match card for the show and how to watch for free, keep reading for all the information you need. Let the road to Wrestlemania begin.2020's Royal Rumble already has a few surprises, not including R-Truth declaring himself part of the event only to be undeclared seconds later in one of the most enjoyable segments in recent memory. In addition to that, every year, the rumble matches have numerous surprises, and at least once a year, there is at least one really bizarre surprise entrant no one sees coming..@RonKillings interrupted @BrockLesnar on #RAW with a #RoyalRumble message for @HeymanHustle?!? pic.twitter.com/iXKTPZuaj8 — WWE (@WWE) January 14, 2020This year's event is coming to Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas on Sunday, January 26. Depending on where you live in the world, you'll be able to watch the event at a reasonable hour or during the middle of the night until the early morning--sorry Europe. Below, you'll find the start times for the main card of this year's Royal Rumble.Royal Rumble start time:4 PM PT6 PM CT7 PM ET12 AM GMT (January 27)11 AM AEDT (January 27)The start times are for the main card, and it's important to note that all WWE PPVs have a Kickoff Show as well. With more important events like Royal Rumble, said preshow usually starts two hours before the main card. Usually, there are a couple matches on the Kickoff Show as well, but at the time of this writing, nothing has been announced for the preshow. How to watch:If you're interested in watching this year's Royal Rumble, there are a couple ways to do so. You could purchase it through your cable or satellite provider; however, the cost for this event can range between $45-55, depending on your provider. This is the only way for some people to watch who don't have access to high-speed internet. You can actually watch this year's Royal Rumble for free on the WWE Network, as long as you're a new subscriber. If you're signing up for the first time to the streaming service, you get one month for free, and you can cancel anytime. So you can stream the PPV this Sunday for no cost. If you like what the network has to offer, it costs $10 a month. Check out WWE Network If you'd rather attend the event live in Houston, tickets are still available for the Rumble. The cheapest seats available are $75, and if you're looking for ringside action, there are seats six rows back for $700.Match card:As for the confirmed matches for this year's Rumble, one thing that's interesting about this year's event is that WWE Champion Brock Lesnar declared himself part of the Rumble match in the #1 spot. If he lasts the entire match--which is normally at least an hour long--he'll be able to face the Universal Champion at Wrestlemania. Normally, we don't see a main event champ in this match, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Hopefully, Lesnar doesn't win the Rumble. We don't need a part-time champion holding both main event belts. The rest of the card is slowly coming together. As of this writing, there are eight matches on the card, which may not seem like a lot. However, both the men's and women's Royal Rumble matches can last over an hour each, so we're not expecting this year's Rumble to have much more than 10 matches on the main card. Below, you'll find every match on the card so far, and as of this writing, nothing has been booked for the Kickoff Show.Andrade (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo (United States Championship)Shorty G vs. SheamusBayley (c) vs. Lacy Evans (Smackdown Women's Championship)Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin (Falls Count Anywhere Match)Becky Lynch (c) vs. Asuka (Raw Women's Championship)"The Fiend" Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (Universal Championship)Women's Royal Rumble MatchMen's Royal Rumble MatchAdditionally, we'll keep you updated with who has been confirmed for both the men's and women's Rumble matches. Check them all out below.Women's Rumble participants:Charlotte FlairAlexa BlissNikki CrossSarah LoganNatalyaMen's Rumble participants:Brock Lesnar (#1 entrant)Roman ReignsKing CorbinDolph ZigglerShinsuke NakamuraBraun StrowmanKofi KingstonBig EErick RowanAJ StylesRandy OrtonEliasRey MysterioRicochetDrew McIntyreOtisTuckerRusevBobby LashleyAleister BlackBuddy MurphySeth RollinsKevin OwensSamoa JoeR-Truth (He may or may not show up)Predictions:Part of the fun of the Rumble event is predicting the winners and losers of the event. Later this week, GameSpot will have its official predictions out, but here's a quick taste of what we think will happen before then.Men's Royal Rumble:Everything is pointing to Lesnar winning the match, which leads me to believe there will be a unification of both Raw and Smackdown's main event championships. There is nothing I want less than Lesnar to win, but with the build up to the match, that's where it seems to be headed. However, this would be a great time for WWE to pull of something really cool like giving Drew McIntyre a big push. At the end of the Rumble, it could come down to McIntyre and Lesnar, and McIntyre could eliminate the beast, becoming this year's Rumble winner. Ultimately, he would then challenge Lesnar for the title at Wrestlemania, already setting up a nice story between the two.Women's Royal Rumble:Unlike the men's match, there haven't been a lot of wrestlers confirmed for the Women's Rumble match. More than likely, WWE may take a big chance with someone that hasn't been in the main event spotlight for the Women's Championships. This could be the time for Nikki Cross to shine. However, what is much more likely is Charlotte winning the Rumble, only to challenge Becky Lynch at Mania for what will surely be a great match.Come back to GameSpot on Sunday, January 26 for live coverage of the show. The products discussed here were independently chosen by our editors. There was a moment I had while playing Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training for Nintendo Switch, which is currently only available in Australia and Europe. I had just finished my daily set of three exams to calculate my "Brain Age," the metric used to assess how strong and flexible your mind is. The lower the score the better, and 20 is the absolute best you can get. Anyway, the disembodied head of Dr. Kawashima popped up on the screen to deliver my result--it was 27! Wow! What a great score. I had some issues with one of the tests, but I had set a couple of new records on the others, so I was feeling pretty happy with myself. But that emotion didn't last very long."Oh dear!" the head lamented, "I miscalculated your Brain Age". He threw up a new number: 59. "Your Brain Age is a little underwhelming." I could've snapped the Joy-Cons off my Switch then and there.Dr. Kawashima, or at least this polygonal version of him, is an insensitive jerk. He pulls dumb stuff like that, he's visibly disappointed when he's telling me that I can do better, and the only time he's encouraging or visibly pleased (at which point he's freaking ecstatic) is when I make a really significant improvement on something. Improving incrementally? Maintaining a superb result day after day? Nothing. Maybe just a "good for you" if I'm lucky. I have Asian parents, so I'm used to this level of support. But when it's coming from a video game, from a cartridge I can easily rip out and never look at again, this low level of encouragement and high level of trolling really discourages me from wanting to keep going with it. Especially when I'm mostly doing math anyway.I'm disappointed because I know Nintendo knows how to motivate me to keep coming back. Their video games are often very morish. I've been playing Ring Fit Adventure pretty consistently over the past few months, and a big part of the reason I've (surprisingly) kept coming back to it is because of the consistent positive reinforcement and the feeling that you're only ever making progress, not losing it. Ring Fit Adventure only ever has helpful advice and encouragement for me, and every session I have is positive. There's never any judgment if I'm having an off day, and I always feel welcomed back. Brain Training shows me my dips on a graph and makes me sad.Am I just upset because I'm starting to realise that I'm actually stupid? Eh, maybe a little. But believe me, I would happily just own it and keep on working at if it wasn't for the other frustrating issue: the occasional, but hugely detrimental, issues with handwriting detection. The first Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training came out for the Nintendo DS, and it made a huge deal about how you held the dual-screen console sideways like a book and wrote your answers with the console's included stylus. It had a pretty great version of Sudoku, and I played a lot of Sudoku on that thing (Sudoku was really big back then). My Brain Age was also much better than it is now. Now that Brain Training is on the Switch, it comes with its own stylus and requires you to hold your Switch sideways as well. It's still very novel, but because of the reliance on this kind of handwritten input in a number of minigames, you're likely to run into a lot of issues depending on how you write certain letters and numbers. The DS version of Brain Training had these issues too, but for some reason it feels far more egregious on the Switch. Maybe it's the new fat Switch stylus versus the more precise and pointy DS one. Maybe it's some change in how the software translates strokes, or the ways certain activities are designed. Maybe it's all exactly the same and just a factor of my growing impatience as I get older and grumpier. I'm pretty sure I don't have terrible handwriting--my letters are usually bold and clear, maybe even a little cartoony, and the game can detect what I'm writing 98% of the time. But if I find myself getting caught in that 2% trying to get it to recognise a "5" or a "Y," I'll be screaming, because my results, progress, and my self-esteem are on the line. Here's an example: There's an exam in Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training for Switch where you get two minutes to memorise the placement of 25 numbers on a 5x5 grid, and then two minutes to recall them. The catch is, you only get one guess for each square, so if you guess wrong, you lose that opportunity for a point. The last time I took this test, the game had real trouble interpreting how I wrote the numbers "5" and "9," so as soon as I would finish writing something like "25," I could see that the game interpreted it as 18 for whatever weird reason, and I wouldn't have a chance to hit the erase button in the split second before it buzzed and basically told me, "No, that's wrong. The number that's supposed to go here is 25."There's a similar, slightly more gracious exam with the same kind of memory test, but you're trying to remember and write down all the four-letter words the game showed on a previous screen. You don't get locked out at all here, but when the game keeps misinterpreting the letter you're trying to write for another one? Well, your mind gets preoccupied with constantly erasing and rewriting the letter in the hopes that it will catch, and your focus is pulled away from all those words you were trying to juggle in your head. It can be infuriating. The daily exercises that game has you do to prepare for these exams are mostly free from these issues. I can multitask and make an avatar jump hurdles while picking out the highest number in a lineup, no problem. I can mimic hand shapes and do finger calculations (which are tracked with the right Joy-Con's IR sensor, a pretty neat feature) faster than you can blink. I can sight-read music and play it on the touchscreen piano perfectly (because I've had years of training, but nevermind that). And when I perform all these tasks, I get that satisfying brain-squeezing sensation that makes me feel like I'm working my mind and getting smarter probably. But when it comes to calculating your Brain Age, the game throws a whole different set of activities at you, most of which are specific to the examination mode and largely involve writing letters and numbers. That's when things get disastrous and Kawashima thinks I have rocks in my head. That's when he starts trolling me and telling me how disappointed he is. Brain Training's handwriting detection is not perfect. And it needs to be perfect if I want to feel like my mistakes are on me.I have fond memories of the original Brain Training for Nintendo DS, and after how taken I was with Ring Fit Adventure, I was eager to hop back on Nintendo's weird lifestyle software train and ride it anywhere it would go. But Brain Training for Switch is pushing me away. Hopefully, now that we're in the age of software updates and user telemetry, the writing detection is something that Nintendo can improve over time. And maybe Tipp and whatever the sentient Ring from Ring Fit Adventure is called can give Dr. Kawashima a few pointers on how to talk to players, too.Sudoku is still pretty good though.Info from Gamespot.com

Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation will add new character Forge, new sniper rifle the Sentinel, and new changes to World's Edge. You won't just be playing on World's Edge though, as Season 4 will see the return of Kings Canyon. That said, the original map of Apex Legends isn't coming back at the start of Season 4.During Assimilation, Apex Legends Ranked Mode is being reworked so that it's now split into two separate series. The first series will begin with the new season and continue through to March 23. The second series picks up on March 24 and continues until the end of Season 4, May 5. Apex Legends News Apex Legends' New Season 4: Assimilation Weapon Is Another Sniper Rifle New Apex Legends Season 4 Character Revealed, And It's Not Revenant Apex Legends Kings Canyon Map Returns In Season 4: Assimilation Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation's New Character, Weapon, Map Changes, And More Apex Legends Season 4: When Does It Start? Like in Season 3: Meltdown, you'll see your rank knocked down two notches at the start of Assimilation, and your ranking will similarly reset halfway through the season when the second series begins--allowing you to earn two different rankings. Your end-of-season rewards will be based on whichever series you rank higher in. So if you reach Diamond IV in series one but only Platinum I in series two, for example, you'll be awarded Diamond-tier items at the end of Assimilation. So how does this relate to Kings Canyon? Well, the first series of Assimilation will take place on World's Edge, while the second will see you play on Kings Canyon. So Kings Canyon is coming back to Apex Legends in Season 4, just not until March 24.Kings Canyon was the only map in Apex Legends during Season 1: Wild Frontier and Season 2: Battle Charge, only to be completely replaced by World's Edge at the start of Meltdown. The map has made reappearances in certain limited-time events during Season 3--specifically, Fight or Fright and Grand Soirée Arcade--though its return in Assimilation will be the first time the map has been in the game for longer than a few weeks since its removal. When the map was removed, Respawn explained that Kings Canyon was taken out because the developer was worried that most players would gravitate to the original map without trying the new one if both were available at the same time.Info from Gamespot.com

During its third Apex Legends Devstream, Respawn revealed new details for Season 4: Assimilation, the coming season in the developer's battle royale. Season 4 kicks off on Apex Legends' birthday and there's plenty of new content to look forward to.Below, we outlined all of the new information we learned about Assimilation from the Devstream, including new character Forge and new weapon the Sentinel. Kings Canyon makes a return in this new season as well, though not how we expected. Assimilation also overhauls Ranked Mode and makes adjustments to how certain in-game features work, like getting Assists.Table of Contents [hide]New CharacterNew WeaponTwo Maps, Two Halves For Ranked ModeHelp Your Friends And Earn More PointsBrand-New Rank TierParty RestrictionsStart Of The Season RewardsEnd Of The Season RewardsNew CharacterIn Season 4, Apex Legends will gain a new character, Forge. Respawn revealed several lore details about him, including that he's an ex-MMA fighter who joins the Apex Games under the sponsorship of Hammond Robotics--one of the major corporations that partners with the IMC (the bad guys) in Titanfall and Titanfall 2.Gameplay-wise, Respawn didn't reveal as much, simply commenting on how, as a brawler, he's the opposite of Crypto. The developer did not talk about Forge's abilities or in-game role, though based on his design he seems like he'd be an Offensive character, like Wraith, Bangalore, Octane, and Mirage.Respawn hasn't confirmed any gameplay details about Forge, but datamine leaks suggest his abilities are melee-focused.New WeaponApex Legends is getting another sniper rifle. Like Season 3: Meltdown's Charge Rifle, Season 4: Assimilation's Sentinel is a sniper rifle focused around a charging mechanic. However, instead of needing to charge in order to fire, the Sentinel seems to be a gun that can charge itself to fire a more powerful shot--allowing you to snipe at foes with fast but weak shots or strong but slow shots. The Sentinel isn't a Titanfall or Titanfall 2 weapon, though its name may be in reference to a spaceship from the games. Two Maps, Two Halves For Ranked ModeKings Canyon is returning to Apex Legends in Season 4, though you'll still have to wait a bit before you can play on it again. Assimilation's Ranked Mode will now be divided into two halves--the first of which will see you continue to play on World's Edge, while the latter half will take players back to Kings Canyon.Season 4 will be split between two different maps, instead of solely focusing on one.Help Your Friends And Earn More PointsRespawn is changing how Assists work in Assimilation. The timer for getting an Assist will be extended from 5 seconds to 7.5 seconds, giving you a larger window of opportunity to earn points for helping a teammate down an opponent. Season 4 will also allow you to earn Assist points when an ally kills an enemy you tricked with a Mirage Decoy, nabbed with a Pathfinder Grapple, damaged with a Crypto EMP, or scanned with Crypto or Bloodhound.Brand-New Rank TierIn Ranked Mode, the tiers have been adjusted so that levels that were once considered Apex Predator are now called Master. The tier of Apex Predator will only be given to the 500 highest-ranking players on each platform (Xbox One, PS4, and PC), so only 1500 people in the world will hold the title.Other than that, ranks will work as they did in Season 3, with the start of Season 4 giving all players a soft reset. The soft reset will lower your current rank by 1.5 tiers. So, for example, if you're currently Gold I, Season 4 will see you start as Silver III.Party RestrictionsSeason 4: Assimilation will also have brand-new restrictions on who you can party-up with. Once you reach Platinum IV, you can only party up with players who are within one tier rank of you. So, for instance, if you're Platinum, you can only party up with players who are Gold through Diamond, while a Diamond player can only party with teammates who are Platinum through Master. This does mean you will no longer be able to boost a low-ranking player and get a fresh Bronze-level account into Diamond or Master, as new accounts won't be able to join high-ranking matches until they've earned enough points to be Gold at the very minimum. On the other hand, the change should also mean that you will be consistently paired up against players within your skill bracket once you enter high-tier play.Start Of The Season RewardsAt the start of Season 4, you'll earn rewards dependent on the rank you achieved in Season 3: Meltdown. All players will receive a new badge that reflects their Season 3 rank. Ranks Gold through Apex Predator will also receive a gun charm cosmetic that's colored to match your Season 3 rank--with the exception of Diamond and Apex Predator, which will receive ice and molten lava-themed charms, respectively. Diamond and Apex Predator will also get new dive trails, the former will get ice and the latter fire. You'll also get rewards just for logging in on February 4. All players will receive a paper crane gun charm as well as a new badge that reflects when in the past year you started playing Apex Legends. You'll only earn this particular charm if you've been playing Apex Legends since basically the beginning.End Of The Season RewardsAll ranks will earn new badges at the end of Season 4, but only Gold through Apex Predator will earn a new weapon cosmetic and only Diamond and Apex Predator will earn a new dive trail.Only the highest-ranking 1500 players across the world (500 on Xbox One, 500 on PS4, and 500 on PC) will be able to earn the title of Apex Predator in Season 4. If you're looking for upcoming arrivals to Netflix for February 2020, then you've come to the right place. In the upcoming month, the streaming service has plenty of new movies, TV shows, and original content headed your way. Recently, it was revealed how Netflix calculate views, and the company also explained why they made the change. But these changes won't stop the service from rolling out a ton of new content, which you can check out below.Locke & Key is the latest comic book adaptation to hit Netflix, arriving on February 7. Based on the Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez comic of the same name, Locke & Key follows a widow and her children as they move into their ancestral home after the mysterious murder of the patriarch of the family. Inside this house are mysterious keys with mystical powers that have some connection to the murdered father. You can watch the first trailer here.Season 2 of Altered Carbon arrives on February 27. The sci-fi series returns, and a teaser was recently revealed for the show. Anthony Mackie stars in the new episodes as main character Takeshi Kovacs. In a show about transferring consciousnesses into new bodies, recasting the star of the show isn't a big deal. Netflix's official synopsis of the series has arrived as well: "Altered Carbon Season 2 finds Takeshi Kovacs, the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries-old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer. After decades of planet-hopping and searching the galaxy, Kovacs finds himself recruited back to his home planet of Harlan's World with the promise of finding Quell. Haunted by his past and responsible for investigating a series of brutal murders, Kovacs is stunned to discover his new mission to solve the crime and his pursuit to find Quell are one and the same. With the help of his loyal A.I. Poe, Kovacs must now partner with new allies to outwit his enemies and find the truth: Who is Quellcrist Falconer?"If you're looking for a bunch of '80s comedies that probably haven't aged well at all--because they weren't that great to begin with--seven Police Academy movies hit Netflix on February 1. You can relive all the wacky adventures of your favorite characters you barely remember like Mahoney, Hightower, Tackleberry, and more. Personally, I recommend the fourth film in the franchise, Citizens on Patrol (its acronym is C.O.P., get it?), as the movie features David Spade as an '80s skateboarder.Below, you'll find all of this month's releases for Netflix. It's finally 2020, which means Sony's next-generation console, the PlayStation 5, is fast approaching its launch sometime during this year's holiday season. Throughout 2019, Sony began to reveal some of the first details about their next-gen plans with PS5, and we only expect that to continue in the months ahead.First, we know that the console's official name. Unsurprisingly, the console is indeed called the PlayStation 5--and we also know what the logo looks like. During 2019, it was revealed that the PS5 will also have PS4 backwards compatibility and SSD storage, and it will support PSVR. The company has also outlined some green, energy-efficient initiatives it is planning for the next generation. If Sony follows the outline for how the PS4 was properly unveiled, we can expect it to host a special PlayStation Meeting event. There have been some speculation that such an event could take place in February 2020, but Sony has not made any official announcements as of this time. If that does indeed happen, that could be when we learn about things like a price and launch game lineup. However, when Sony plans to roll out new info, it won't be at the venue you might expect. Just like last year's E3, Sony will also skip E3 2020, citing their own announce plans.Below you can find all the details known about Sony's upcoming console. It's likely we'll hear more details--big or small--in the coming months, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back often as more gets confirmed.Table of Contents [hide]PS5 Release DatePS5 PriceWill PS5 Be Backwards Compatible With PS4 games?PS5 Specs And Disc DrivePS5 ControllerWill PS5 Support PSVR?The LogoEnergy EfficiencyPS5 GamesPS5 UIPS5 Release DateThis is surely the question on everybody's lips: when will the PS5 come out? Sony, as you'd expect, is tight-lipped on the matter, but it has confirmed a "holiday 2020" release window for the PlayStation 5. The company has been no more specific than that--Microsoft has also provided the same vague window--but historically, November has been a frequentPS5 PriceAgain, Sony has not stated how much its new console will cost, but it did say that the PS5's price will be attractive to gamers. "I believe that we will be able to release it at an SRP [suggested retail price] that will be appealing to gamers in light of its advanced feature set," said Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PS4 who's currently working on its successor.Of course, you wouldn't expect Sony to say anything different, but one gets the feeling the company has learned from the PS3's exorbitant price tag--and the console's subsequent struggles--and the PS4's more reasonable cost and subsequent successes. Will PS5 Be Backwards Compatible With PS4 games?Cerny also confirmed the PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS4 games, as the two consoles are built upon similar internal architectures. This will be welcome news for those who were disappointed by the PS4's lack of backwards compatibility with PS3, PS2, and PS1 games.SIE president Jim Ryan told GameSpot sister site CNET backwards compatibility and cross-gen are important for the PS5 to help players have a seamless transition."Whether it's backwards compatibility or the possibility of cross-generational play, we'll be able to transition that community to next-gen," he said. "It won't be a binary choice about whether you have to be either on PlayStation 4 or next-gen to continue your friendship."In yet more welcome news, PS4 games will even run faster than they do on your current console, in part because the PS5 will contain a solid state drive, as opposed to hard drives that current consoles ship with. Cerny has demonstrated a load screen from Insomniac's Spider-Man taking less than a second on a PS5 development kit, compared with 15 seconds on a PS4 Pro.Sony showed off the faster loading times during an investor presentation in May. You can see the video below, which was captured by Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki.Sony's official video comparing performance of PS4 Pro vs next-gen PlayStation pic.twitter.com/2eUROxKFLq — Takashi Mochizuki (@mochi_wsj) May 21, 2019PS5 Specs And Disc DriveThis is where Sony has been surprisingly forthright with new information. The company has confirmed the PlayStation 5 will contain an AMD chip that has a CPU based on the third-generation Ryzen. It'll have eight cores of the seven-nanometer Zen 2 microchip. The console will also support 8K gameplay, but this will of course be dependent upon TVs catching up.Graphics will be driven by a custom version of Radeon's Navi line. This graphics chip will support ray-racing, something which is starting to become popular in movies and video games. Although it is traditionally thought of as a lighting technique, Cerny says this technique could also improve game audio. In fact, PS5 will fully support 3D audio. The aforementioned SSD is a big detail too, as it means games will load faster and be able to handle more objects on-screen at once than current HDD-driven consoles. Characters and cameras could move faster through game worlds, as environments could be loaded in much faster than they are at present. As one final detail, we know the PS5 will not go the route of the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, which doesn't include a disc drive. Instead, the PS5 will include a disc drive, so rest assured you'll still be able to buy and play physical games. PS5 discs will have a capacity of 100 GB, and the console will also support 4K Blu-Rays.Sony has also confirmed that the PS5 is capable of supporting 4K visuals at 120Hz for those who have TVs that can support that. 120Hz is a refresh rate around double the rate of standard TVs.PS5 ControllerSony has opened up on its vision for the PlayStation 5's controller by saying: "One of our goals with the next generation is to deepen the feeling of immersion when you play games, and we had the opportunity with our new controller to reimagine how the sense of touch can add to that immersion."To that end, there are two key innovations with the PlayStation 5's new controller. First, we're adopting haptic feedback to replace the 'rumble' technology found in controllers since the 5th generation of consoles. With haptics, you truly feel a broader range of feedback, so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud."The second innovation is something we call adaptive triggers, which have been incorporated into the trigger buttons (L2/R2). Developers can program the resistance of the triggers so that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain. In combination with the haptics, this can produce a powerful experience that better simulates various actions. Game creators have started to receive early versions of the new controller, and we can't wait to see where their imagination goes with these new features at their disposal."In addition to the above comments from Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan, Sony has also separately confirmed to Wired that the controller "doesn't have a name yet," but contains an improved speaker, USB-C connectivity, and a larger-capacity battery. Will PS5 Support PSVR?The current PSVR will indeed be supported by PS5, as will the PlayStation Move controllers. "I won't go into the details of our VR strategy," Cerny has stated, "beyond saying that VR is very important to us and that the current PSVR headset is compatible with the new console." The system architect stopped short of saying whether a new PSVR device will ever come out, however. The LogoIt was believed that Sony's briefing at CES 2020 could bring with it some PlayStation 5 news, but that only barely turned out to be the case. Sony's Jim Ryan appeared on stage to share some impressive stats regarding the PS4 and to reveal the PlayStation 5 logo, which you can see below. It's hardly surprising, maintaining the same style used for recent generations. Beyond that, Sony had nothing new to discuss about PS5 during the tech-focused event.Energy EfficiencyThough Sony has been generally quiet about the PS5 since its announcement, it came forward to reveal just slightly more information in conjunction with the announcement of a United Nations initiative. The Playing for the Planet alliance aims to make the video game industry more environmentally friendly. To that end, Sony announced that the next generation of its hardware will use dramatically less power when placed into suspend/sleep mode. Just one million PS5 users turning on the energy-efficient feature would save enough electricity to power 1,000 US homes. The company is also conducting a carbon footprint assessment and looking into more energy-efficient data centers.PS5 GamesWe don't yet know many confirmed games coming to PS5. It's reasonable to presume annual titles like FIFA and Call of Duty would make the jump to PS5, though their developers haven't stated anything concrete.Currently, the only confirmed PS5 game is Godfall, a loot-based melee action-RPG. It's scheduled for late 2020, which more than likely makes it a PS5 launch game. However, time will tell! The other game possibly confirmed to be playable on PS5 is the Final Fantasy VII remake, after Square Enix's president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda said: "I believe that our teams have made it so that the game will support both the next generation and the current generation of consoles. I believe it is being developed so that it is going to be playable on both, so I'm not really concerned about that and I believe that the fans are also going to be able to enjoy it on both, including the next-generation of consoles."However, it's not clear whether Matsuda was referring to a dedicated PS5 edition of the game, or if he was simply referring to the PS4 version being playable on PS5 via backward compatibility. If it's the latter, then we can technically count every PS4 game as playable on PS5.Finally, we know Bluepoint Games, the studio behind remakes such as Shadow of the Colossus and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, is working on a PS5 game that it says is a "big" one.PS5 UIPlayStation 5's new user interface will allow you to see more details about friends' games without opening the applications themselves. "Even though it will be fairly fast to boot games," says Cerny, "We don't want the player to have to boot the game, see what's up, boot the game, see what's up. Multiplayer game servers will provide the console with the set of joinable activities in real time. Single-player games will provide information like what missions you could do and what rewards you might receive for completing them—and all of those choices will be visible in the UI. As a player you just jump right into whatever you like."Info from Gamespot.com

The vast Corridors of Time was conquered last week by the Destiny 2 community, leading to the revelation of a new Exotic weapon quest for all Guardians. Everyone can now earn Bastion, and you can use our Bastion guide to get the Exotic fast. In the meantime, Xur is back for the weekend and offering Exotics for a lot less effort--provided you can pay for them.As usual, the Agent of the Nine is hanging out in the solar system through the weekend and up to the weekly reset on Tuesday, January 28. Here's where to find him and what he's carrying in his bag of goodies. And don't forget: If you want to get the other rewards waiting in the Corridors of Time, you only have until Tuesday to do so, so check out our Corridors of Time guide to avoid missing out.Xur LocationXur is located on Titan on The Rig this weekend. His Exotic weapon this week is Monte Carlo. Hunters can get the Orpheus Rig leg armor; Titans get a chance at the Actium War Rig chest armor; and for Warlocks, there's the Verity's Brow helmet.Head to Titan to find Xur this week, hanging out in the shadows inside one of the structure's abandoned buildings. Destiny 2 News And Guides Destiny 2's Corridors Of Time Reward Was More Than Bastion Where Is Xur? Destiny 2 Exotics Location, Weapon, And Armor Rolls Destiny 2 Bastion Exotic Quest Guide: How To Get The New Fusion Rifle Solved! Destiny 2 Corridors Of Time Bastion Secret Quest Guide Xur InventoryThis week, Xur offers an Exotic we haven't seen from him before: Monte Carlo. The Destiny 1 auto rifle was reintroduced in D2 with the Shadowkeep expansion, but up until now, the only way to get it was from a random Exotic engram drop. It's definitely a gun worth snagging, thanks to perks that increase its power the more enemies you mow down.If Xur's wares aren't compelling, you can always roll the dice on the expensive Fated Engram he brings with him. This gives you a single Exotic from the limited pool of ones you haven't already earned, for the price of 97 Legendary shards. If there's something you're missing from your collection and you want it sooner rather than later, it can be a good deal--starting with the Season of Dawn, all Exotic Engrams are Fated Engrams, but you'll have to level up your Season Pass or wait for a random drop to get some. Be sure to purchase it on the character who's missing the Exotic, and note that you can only get one per week, so choose wisely which of your characters makes the buy. If you're a PC or Xbox One player taking advantage of cross-save, you can now potentially get Wavesplitter from the Fated Engram as well, thanks to the fact that it's no longer exclusive to PS4.Xur Item Lineup (January 10-14)Monte Carlo (Exotic auto rifle)Orpheus Rig (Exotic Hunter leg armor)Actium War Rig (Exotic Titan chest armor)Verity's Brow (Exotic Warlock helmet)Monte CarloXur's got Monte Carlo this week, an Exotic that was released with the Shadowkeep expansion you'll definitely want in your collection.Xur's weapon this week is a Shadowkeep Exotic, which already should put it on your radar. This is one you could only get from random Exotic engrams, so take this opportunity to snag it. The powerful auto rifle has a big magazine and does increased damage both as you rack up kills from the gun and as you earn melee kills, while simultaneously reducing your melee cooldown and giving a chance to fully restore your melee ability. Pair Monte Carlo with a melee-specific armor build and you should able to punch and shoot through just about anything.Orpheus RigOrpheus Rig is one of the most useful Hunter Exotics in PvE.This Hunter mainstay needs to be in your collection, if it isn't already. It gives you ability energy back when you use your Nightfall Super's arrows, increasing your gains for each enemy tethered. That makes it great in a lot of situations, like most boss fights and tough PvE activities.
