Infinity Ward has pushed out a small Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One that makes some changes to the current playlists, tweaks weapons, fixes bugs, and more. The patch notes have been revealed and, in addition to these adjustments, Infinity Ward also addresses spawn points.Headlining the update are changes to Modern Warfare's playlists. The modes Deathmatch Domination and Gunfight Custom have been added, while Capture the Flag finds a new home in the "Quick Play" filter. Shipment has replaced Shoot the Ship as the game's 24/7 map and the wintry Gunfight map Winter Docks has been removed. Google has announced another pair of games coming for Stadia Pro members in February, including one of the platform's exclusives. The timing comes just as Stadia Founders Edition purchasers prepare to have their included three months free trial expire.The announcement on the Stadia Blog revealed that February will add Gylt and Metro Exodus. Both games will be available for Pro members for free starting on February 1. Gylt is a Stadia-exclusive horror adventure game, while Metro Exodus is the latest in the survival-shooter franchise. Metro developer 4A Games also recently announced that it will be releasing the Metro DLC Sam's Story on February 11.Stadia Founders began receiving their hardware on November 19, so those who redeemed as early as possible will have their free trial expire on February 19. That gives them some time to play Gylt and Metro Exodus before the Pro trial expires, but to keep access to the Pro library they'll need to allow the automatic renewals to begin. Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn is looming just around the corner and if the trailers are any indication, it's primed and ready to be a psychedelic, neon-soaked trip through the grungiest, grittiest parts of Gotham City. What else could you expect with a character like Harley in the spotlight? But that being said, with Harley and her infamous aesthetic obviously taking center stage, it's certainly easy to forget that not only is the Clown Queen of Crime technically not the villain of this story, she and the rest of the Birds are going to be facing off against a slightly lesser-known (but incredibly dangerous) foe: Roman Sionis, AKA Black Mask, played by Ewan McGregor.Sionis is an interesting pull for a big-screen villain, not only because his own comic book history is a topsy-turvy, bizarre thing in and of itself (seriously, the guy hops back and forth between zealous cult leader to run-of-the-mill gangster every other week) but because his relationship on the page with characters like Harley is virtually nonexistent. Sure, Black Mask has had his fair share of run-ins and team-ups with Gotham's many, many costumed villains, and he's definitely interacted with people like The Joker--and by association, Harley, before--but there's no real precedent for Harley and Sionis throwing down in any meaningful way. This means that, by pitting the two against each other so directly, Birds of Prey will be blazing a brand-new path in Gotham. So what is it about Sionis that makes him work as an antagonist for Harley, specifically? And why is their fight so compelling? GameSpot caught up with Ewan McGregor in Los Angeles to get a closer look at the method behind the madness."He has to be in absolute control," McGregor explained. "He's insane when he's not in control. We only see him in his club, in his car, in his apartment--or at the end when he's running around. But really I feel like we only ever see him in places he controls. And then Harley comes into this world and she's uncontrollable. It drives him mad. He hates it."He continued: "It plays into the exploration of misogyny in the film. He's only ever put up with Harley because she was Joker's girlfriend. So that was the only reason he ever put up with her, because [Joker] was all-powerful. But as soon as [Roman] realizes that Harley's man is out of the picture, she becomes a problem. That makes him a true misogynist. Harley is trying to find her freedom--the emancipation of Harley Quinn, right? She's trying to find her voice. She's not getting her power from her partner anymore."A misogynist take on Black Mask isn't necessarily a new invention for the film. Back in the early 2000s, Sionis became infamous in the pantheon of Batman's rogues for brutalizing and eventually murdering Stephanie Brown, who had taken over the mantle of Robin at the time during an event storyline called War Games. The story, revolving around a series of events inadvertently set in motion by Brown and landed Sionis in the top seat of Gotham's criminal underworld, garnered criticism not only for the explicit and violent nature of Stephanie's assault but for the way it also seemed to cut her tenure as Robin off at the knees. All told, Brown held on to the title for less than nine issues.Eventually, her death was revealed to be a carefully constructed fake, set up by the Bat Family's doctor, Leslie Thompkins, to spirit Stephanie away into the superheroic version of witness protection thanks to Black Mask's reign of terror and vendetta against her. As many have suspected since the release of the Shadowkeep expansion, it looks like Destiny 2 will finally see the restoration of the Trials of Osiris with the start of the game's next season. Data mining of content coming to the game next week suggests the story of the Season of Dawn will turn toward bringing the tough multiplayer challenge back to the game.Data miner Ginser uncovered the evidence that Trials is on its way back in Destiny 2's latest patch, Update 2.7.1, in a few interesting text strings, and shared it on the Raid Secrets Discord channel and on Twitter. Pokemon Go players will soon have a chance to put their battling skills to the test against other trainers from around the world. Developer Niantic has announced it will begin rolling out the Go Battle League feature this week, allowing players to compete against others online and earn special rewards--including a new Pokemon.As is usually the case with new features in Pokemon Go, the Go Battle League will gradually be made available to players depending on their level. Season 1 of the Go Battle League will be preceded by a preseason period, during which Niantic will continue to balance the game as players test and hone their strategies.Each season of the Go Battle League will rotate between the game's three different PvP Leagues--Great, Ultra, and Master. The preseason has kicked off now with the Great League and will change formats every two weeks. Following the untimely death of famed Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard, Kobe Bryant, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has confirmed intentions to commemorate the late athlete during the 2020 Oscars on Sunday, February 9, according to The Hollywood Reporter.The Academy didn't specify how it will pay tribute to Bryant, who saw some success as a filmmaker in addition to his storied basketball career. For those who don't remember, Bryant wrote, produced, and narrated an animated short film that won Best Animated Short at the 2018 Oscars awards ceremony. The bite-sized film, running a little longer than five minutes and based on a November 2015 poem published in the Players' Tribune, has largely been removed online following Bryant's passing. A reason for the removal has not been provided, according to the LA Times.Kobe Bryant was killed in an explosive helicopter crash on January 26. He and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were on their way to a basketball game she was said to be playing in when the helicopter came down. One of the most-anticipated new Xbox games is the unannounced title in the works at Microsoft's new studio, The Initiative. Basically nothing is known about this title, but we know it's being worked on by Red Dead Redemption writer/director Christian Cantamessa, while the studio itself was founded by former Square Enix and Call of Duty boss Darrell Gallagher.Xbox boss Phil Spencer has now provided an update on the game.
