As a total package, it’s on the verge of greatness; it just needed a little more time in the shop tinkering."Info from Gamespot.com

And this week, a highly-anticipated original series based on a comic book makes its way to the streaming service.Coming to Netflix this week is Locke & Key. Based on the IDW comic series, the comic follows a family that moves into their ancestral home and find keys that hold mysterious powers. In his review of Locke & Key, GameSpot's Mike Rougeau said, "If the Netflix version is your first introduction to Locke and Key and you don't mind some cheesy writing, congratulations--you'll probably enjoy the show just fine, without all the baggage of the high expectations that fans have been lugging around for the decade-plus since Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's masterful horror comics series debuted." Locke & Key arrives on February 7.Also arriving on Netflix on Friday is Horse Girl. Starring Alison Brie, the movie follows a young woman slowly losing her grip on reality. She begins seeing things, and she thinks she's being visited by aliens as well. Nintendo is adding a subscription pass to another one of its mobile games. The company has announced a "Feh Pass" for Fire Emblem Heroes, which will roll out alongside the game's 4.2 update on February 5 and give subscribers access to an assortment of exclusive characters and other content for a monthly fee.The Feh Pass costs $9.50 USD / £10 / $15.50 AUD a month and grants "five special benefits" to subscribers, including Resplendent Heroes--special versions of existing characters who have a unique appearance and a +2 boost in every stat. Once you have a Resplendent character, you will be able to freely switch between their Resplendent and standard outfits.Subscribers will receive two Resplendent Heroes each month, starting with Lyn and Cordelia. Resplendent Lyn will be distributed from February 5-24, while Resplendent Cordelia will be available from February 24-March 9. After that, new Resplendent Heroes will be distributed on the 10th and 25th of every month. If you miss out on any of the characters, Nintendo says Feh Pass subscribers will be able to purchase Resplendent Heroes after their distribution period ends.In addition to the Resplendent Heroes, subscribers will have access to exclusive Feh Pass quests, which reward you with Orbs, Heroic Grails, and other valuable items. These quests will likewise be available twice every month. On top of that, Feh Pass subscribers will be able to form Summoner Support bonds with up to three heroes rather than one. Finally, the Feh Pass offers two new gameplay features. The first is called Re-Act, and it allows you to return to the start of the previous turn if your heroes have not moved yet. If you have already moved your heroes, Re-Act allows you to rewind to the start of your current turn. The second feature is Auto-Start, which lets you automatically replay a map multiple times as long as you have Stamina remaining. You can learn more about the Feh Pass in the video above.Fire Emblem Heroes is the third Nintendo mobile game to receive a subscription pass of some sort, after Mario Kart Tour and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. It's also the company's most successful mobile game to date, raking in $656 million in worldwide revenue according to SensorTower. That accounts for 61% of the $1 billion that Nintendo's mobile games have grossed.Info from Gamespot.com

In one of the most interesting and bizarre pieces of news to come out the world of manga, Death Note has returned for a special one-shot issue that you can read for free online, and it features the President.Writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata released the 88-page manga, titled Death Note: Special One-Shot, on Viz Media. As a part of this story, the death note ends up falling into the hands of none other than the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, in a wild twist of events. You can see a screen grab from the one-shot below.Ryuk is the one who hands the book off to Trump, who purchases it through a worldwide auction. His appearance in the one-shot is brief, as the story revolves around a new rule created for the death note and the bidding war for it worldwide.Death Note first came to life in 2003 by Ohba and Obata. The story revolves around a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill people. If you write someone's name in the book, they will die. Ryuk is a shinigami--a god of death that uses a death note to carry out the natural end of a person's life. After a genius student named Light Yagami discovers the death note, he consults with Ryuk about its purpose and decides to use it to rid the world of villainy, becoming the infamous Kira in the process. In 2017, Netflix produced a live-action Death Note movie that did not go over well with hardcore fans, but the film was fun for the average person who hasn't stepped into the world of the manga or anime adaptation. In GameSpot's review, Mike Rougeau said, "With some issues, especially in its inconsistent pacing and dialogue, Death Note isn't a perfect adaptation. But it is a fun one. Fans of the original should walk away happy, and newcomers to the morbid world of shinigami and sociopathic high schoolers with god complexes will get more out of the film's relatively short runtime than they would from trying to tackle the anime's full 37-episode run."Disclosure: ViacomCBS is GameSpot's parent company.Info from Gamespot.com

Way back in September we had the chance to sit down with Platinum Games' Atsushi Inaba and Hideky Kamiya to discuss the impending Kickstarter campaign for Wonderful 101 Remastered, a port of the former-Wii U exclusive that will now be coming to Switch--the campaign was fully funded in less than 30 minutes, and other platforms are now on the table as stretch goals.Since our interview, a lot has changed for Platinum, insomuch as Tencent has stepped in with an investment in the company and its future projects. It was a surprising development at the time the news broke, and has since been met with concern by people who are wary of Tencent's continued march into big, well-known game studios and publishers. How it will play out is anyone's guess, but Wonderful 101 Remastered's Kickstarter campaign seems to have launched without a hitch. With the shifting state of Platinum's involvement with the likes of Tencent and Nintendo, some of the interview below may not align with current plans, but it's a good indicator of Platinum's approach to its catalog of legacy titles and its view of crowdfunding, both as creators and customers. The following text has been edited for clarity and flow.Do you have any hesitation about crowdfunding in general?Inaba: It's our first time, so yes, there's a bit of concern. However, we want the game to reach more users than it did on Wii U, so we have a lot of confidence in our fans and that the project will raise enough money to reach our goal, and ultimately reach a lot of people.Kamiya: As the game's director, I have a lot of confidence in it. I would like to bring it to Switch, that's my main goal. In terms of stretch goals, that's where I'm really interested to see how passionate fans are and what other platforms they'll get it to.As the director, now that the game has been out for a few years, is there anything about the game that you would change?Kamiya: I think that the game already has a lot of content and I'm very satisfied with it. If there's anything I would like to add or change, it would be tweaking a few things. Perhaps, make the interface easier for players. In addition, though I can't say too much about the stretch goals at this point, there could be some for adding features or modes. Is there anything that must change, given that you're porting it from the Wii U to more traditional consoles?Inaba: The original game was designed for two screens, but there won't need to be major changes--just enough to make it playable for one screen.Have either of you ever Kickstarted things in the past?Inaba: I have done a few small things, not game related.Kamiya: I supported the Flip Grip. What about your peers that might have run crowdfunding campaigns in the past. Have they given you any boosts of confidence to pursue this for Wonderful 101?Inaba: In particular, we were really impressed by Bloodstained, from IGA. I was really impressed that he was able to interact with backers and incorporate their feedback during development of the game. I thought it looked really fun, so I hope I can do the same with our fans.Kamiya, you definitely have an interesting relationship with your fans online. Are you going to be interacting with them directly during this campaign?Kamiya: Yes, I do, and I look forward to more of that. I can't talk too much about the details about the campaign, but there should be a stretch goal that should be good for the fans that deals with me interacting with them. What's your overall outlook about the video game business of today? Crowdfunding is a bit unusual for Platinum. Is this a positive opportunity, or is it just a necessary step?Inaba: So, the fact is that we are just developers. While many people have this grand image of Platinum, we do not have the efforts to self-publish. So, what we would like to do is unite the fans together to get this out.Are there any other games that you would like to revive in the future?Inaba: I think this is a special case. We wanted to bring back Wonderful 101, so, we're glad Nintendo is allowing us to do this. In the future, we'll have to see how this one goes and we may consider another in the future. As developers, to what extent do you think you look back vs forward, and how much of that is due to personal versus business reasons?Inaba: We are looking towards the future. As creators, we want to make something new. We consider W101 to be a particular case. We just feel that it didn't quite reach the users we think it deserved. We do plan to continue moving forward with bigger and better things. Info from Gamespot.com

Pokemon Go's February Community Day is set for Saturday, February 22. While developer Niantic usually designates what the featured Pokemon will be for each event, this time around, the studio gave players the opportunity to vote on the featured Pokemon by completing special Field Research tasks this past weekend. The votes have now been tallied up, and the winning Pokemon is Rhyhorn.Throughout this month's Community Day, Rhyhorn will appear in the wild and in Raids much more frequently than normal. On top of that, you'll have your first chance to encounter a Shiny Rhyhorn during the event, and any Rhyhorn that you can evolve into its final form, Rhyperior, up to two hours after the Community Day ends will automatically know the Rock-type Charged attack Rock Wrecker. In addition to increased Rhyhorn spawns, Niantic is offering a few other bonuses during February's Community Day. As usual, any Lure Modules that you use during the event will remain active for three hours rather than 30 minutes. On top of that, you'll receive triple the normal amount of Stardust for each Pokemon you catch during the Community Day.Like last month's event, February's Community Day will take place at different times depending on where you live. In the Northern Hemisphere, the event will run from 11 AM to 2 PM local time; in the Southern Hemisphere, it will take place from 3 PM to 6 PM local time. You can read more about February's Community Day on the official Pokemon Go website. In the meantime, Niantic has a lot of other events lined up for Pokemon Go this month, including the debut of the Legendary Gen 5 Pokemon Tornadus, who will appear in five-star Raids beginning February 4. February's Field Research tasks are also now live, and completing enough of them will lead to an encounter with another new Gen 5 Pokemon, Woobat. The saga of Mr. Peanut came to its conclusion on Super Bowl Sunday, but the drama was just beginning. An ad campaign that began with the death of the classic peanut mascot wound up leading to an ad in which he was reborn as "Baby Nut." But the ensuing social media campaign has gotten stymied by Twitter's enforcement policies.Insider reports that Twitter suspended the accounts BabyNutBaby, BabyNutMemes, and BabyNutLOL, finding they didn't comply with the platform's policies. Specifically, it seems that those accounts were created before the public could have possibly known about the little peanut--which made the retweets from the official @MrPeanut account awfully suspicious.According to Twitter policy, accounts are not permitted to "artificially amplify or suppress information or engage in behavior that manipulates or disrupts people’s experience on Twitter."For a time it wasn't clear whether the Planters company would follow through with its ad campaign at all. Planters had reportedly paused its ad campaign following the tragic death of Kobe Bryant. The company said it was evaluating the campaign through a "lens of sensitivity to those impacted by this tragedy," given that its ads revolved around a fictional death. Still, the funeral apparently went on unabated, and now we have a tiny, baby-fied version of Mr. Peanut to show for it.Check out some of the best commercials from this year's Super Bowl.Info from Gamespot.com

On Sunday, February 2, millions of people across the world tuned in to watch the NFL's Super Bowl, where the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in one epic game. And during the big game, there were plenty of movie and TV show trailers to check out, from Black Widow to Amazon Prime Video's Hunters. It's par for the course at this point for the Super Bowl to deliver plenty of big movie trailers to get hyped about. But with TV shows becoming a major emphasis even for companies like Marvel, there was a lot happening on Sunday night. Below, you can check out all of the big movie and TV show trailers, including the surprise one for several of Marvel's upcoming Disney+ shows. If you're more interested in a laugh, you can also check out our roundup of the funniest Super Bowl 2020 commercials.A Quiet Place 2While John Krasinski's A Quiet Place follow-up didn't get a new trailer during the big game, there was a TV spot during the pre-game. In the video, we catch a glimpse of what the beginning of the invasion looked like. And director Krasinski reprised his role as Lee Abbott, before he and his family were sentenced to silence in the post-apocalyptic world.MulanWhile a 30-second spot aired prior to kickoff, the full final trailer for Mulan was released online. The new video doesn't give a lot more insight into the movie--with what we've already seen in the previous trailers--but there are some really cool action sequences there.F9While last Friday's F9 trailer was amazing--primarily because Han is alive again--there was a quick, 30-second spot during the NFL game. The video featured some of the ridiculous action sequences we already saw in the trailer before, including the car swinging from a rope.Top Gun: MaverickIt's the highway to the danger zone in the latest Top Gun spot. If you love videos of Tom Cruise's face while he's flying a plane, this video is for you.Black WidowBlack Widow didn't get a full trailer for the Super Bowl, but there was a new 30-second spot with a few cool moments in it, like David Harbour screaming for some reason. Additionally, there were a couple new shots of Taskmaster.Minions 2Find out more about the world of the Minions with a sequel to the 2015 movie with the subtitle "The Rise of Gru." There is a full trailer for the upcoming movie coming on February 5.No Time To DieThis may be the last time we see Daniel Craig as James Bond, so let's take him in while we can. During this year's Super Bowl, there were plenty of movie trailers during the evening. And with Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe right around the corner, Marvel revealed a quick glimpse into the world of the Disney+ original programming coming this year and beyond. The Disney+ Marvel Super Bowl spot showed us a look at The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki, which will begin rolling out on the streaming service this fall and will continue into 2021. Check out the trailer below. In the video, three of the MCU TV shows are showcased. First up is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which will chronicle Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in a post-Captain America world as they deal with not only the return of Baron Zemo (of Captain America: Civil War fame) but the emergence of US Agent, a new character who will likely pose a threat to Sam Wilson's stake in the Captain America mantle. The clips shown in the promo gave us our first look at Sam Wilson throwing the shield, Zemo coming face-to-face with Bucky Barnes, and Bucky sporting his newly cut hair.Next up is WandaVision, a self-described surrealist, "f***king bonkers" journey through the, uh, 1960s flavored sitcom life of Wanda Maximoff and Vision. If the clip is anything to be believed, it looks like we'll have a lot of wackiness to look forward to--including what may or may not be a pregnant Wanda. Fans of the comics will remember that Wanda and Vision are (strange as it may seem) the parents of two other Marvel characters, Billy Kaplan and Thomas Shepherd (don't worry too much about the last names for now), who become superheroes in their own rights. Finally, we got a look at Loki, which features an alternate version of Loki from the Avengers timeline--that is, pre-change of heart, genocidal Loki who was still very much working for Thanos. We saw him flee the scene back in Avengers: Endgame during a kerfuffle with the Tesseract. In case you somehow forgot that this will not be cute, funny Thor: Ragnarok-era Loki, he proudly announces that he's going to burn this place to the ground in the clip. Yikes. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the first of the MCU Disney+ shows, is slated to hit the streaming service this fall. WandaVision follows later in the year, and Loki arrives in 2021. The Behemoth, developers behind indie action games like BattleBlock Theater and Castle Crashers, has announced that it's working on a brand-new entry in the long-dormant Alien Hominid franchise.Alien Hominid: Invasion is The Behemoth's next project, the studio confirmed with the brief 40-second teaser trailer below. Invasion is not a prequel or a sequel, nor is it a remaster or a remake. The Behemoth, in a developer Q&A, said Invasion is a new game within the Alien Hominid franchise. And yes, Alien Hominid: Invasion is co-op. "Every time you support The Behemoth you support co-op games," the studio said. "We need more of them in the industry, and [we're] just so happy that we can keep making them."Further details about Invasion are scarce, but The Behemoth confirmed it will make an appearance at PAX East and EGX Rezzed with a playable demo of Invasion available on both show floors. PAX East runs from February 27-March 1 in Boston, while EGX Rezzed takes place between March 26-28 in London. In a blog post on the studio's official website, The Behemoth confirmed that Alien Hominid: Invasion is currently in development for consoles and PC. A release date or window has yet to be announced.Info from Gamespot.com

After a wave of criticism was directed toward Activision Blizzard for its handling of Warcraft 3: Reforged, the company has issued an apology for the problems and outlined a couple of patches currently in the works.Warcraft community manager Randy "Kaivax" Jordan took to the company's forums to discuss Blizzard's plans for Reforged, specifying that the team is "fully committed to supporting the game [and the Warcraft 3 community] for a long time to come." This includes preparing a patch scheduled to go live later this week that will address mismatched color and shading modules, portrait animations and audio bugs, UI fixes, and more. Most notably, though, Jordan takes aim at the cutscene controversy. Many fans have noted that certain cutscenes failed to live up to what Blizzard had previously shown during BlizzCon 2018. Jordan said the lack of re-animated cutscenes was, essentially, to keep the original spirit of Warcraft 3 intact."[W]e did not want the in-game cutscenes to steer too far from the original game," Jordan said. "We went a little deeper into the thought process behind that at the show, but the main takeaway is that the campaigns tell one of the classic stories in Warcraft history, and we want to preserve the true spirit of Warcraft 3 and allow players to relive these unforgettable moments as they were (albeit rebuilt with new animations and the higher fidelity art).""[W]e want to say we're sorry to those of you who didn't have the experience you wanted, and we'd like to share our plans for what’s coming next."Elsewhere in the forum post, Jordan said that some online features like clans and leaderboards are still coming. Jordan didn't provide a definitive date as to when they will go live, other than the vague "in the coming weeks" timeframe. Still, he confirmed that Blizzard is "hard at work" on getting these missing features up and running.Info from Gamespot.com
