It appears another crossover skin is on the way to Fortnite. The game's official Twitter account tweeted out an image of Harley Quinn's iconic mallet, suggesting a skin based on the character will be added to coincide with the new Birds of Prey film. This isn't the only indication that a Harley Quinn skin is coming to the game. Following Fortnite's 11.50 patch, dataminers have uncovered two Harley Quinn skins in the game--one based on her appearance in Birds of Prey, the other on 2016's Suicide Squad. Dataminers have also spotted evidence of a related set of Harley Quinn challenges, although developer Epic Games has not confirmed anything yet.Treat me like a game and I’ll show you how it’s played 😈 #HarleyQuinn pic.twitter.com/n92B7H2lGK — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) February 5, 2020In the meantime, a new event called Love and War is now underway in Fortnite. The event runs until February 17 and revolves around the new Search and Destroy mode, which has two teams of six players taking turns both attacking and defending an area of the map over a maximum of 11 rounds. Alongside the event is a set of Love and War challenges to complete, which will unlock exclusive cosmetics. In addition to the Love and War event, the aforementioned 11.50 patch made some rather significant under-the-hood changes to Fortnite, implementing a new physics engine and resolving a handful of bugs. You can find the patch notes for the update on Epic's website.Season 2 of Fortnite Chapter 2 is slated to begin later this month, which means time is running out to complete any remaining challenges from this season. On the January 29 episode of WWE Raw, Charlotte Flair, winner of the 2020 women's Royal Rumble match, came out to the ring to celebrate her victory. It was yet another feather in the cap of the most decorated WWE female wrestler in the company's history. The only question remaining was whether Charlotte would challenge for the Raw WWE Championship (currently held by Becky Lynch) or the Smackdown WWE Championship (currently held by Bayley). The former is a great match-up with wonderful chemistry, but we've seen that pairing many, many times. The latter match-up has no emotional context that would make it worthy of a Wrestlemania feud.It turned out, thankfully, that there was also an Option C.Heavy metal blared through the speakers in the arena and out came NXT Champion Rhea Ripley. Ripley, for those who might be unfamiliar with her, is a particularly vicious competitor from Australia, with long limbs, rippling lats, and a coiled way of moving that makes her appear ready to pounce. In the same way that Charlotte is taller and more muscular than the other women on the main roster, the same is true for Rhea Ripley, who moves with a fluidity that belies her strength.February 3 episode of WWE RawRipley seized her moment. She got in the ring and challenged Charlotte to a match at Wrestlemania for the NXT Championship. Charlotte, in turn, responded like a classic heel. She walked past Rhea and exited without addressing the challenge; she will give her answer on February 5's episode of NXT on USA.But no matter whether Charlotte says yes, or no, or maybe, the storyline will twist and turn its way to a Wrestlemania match; the writers wouldn't have floated the possibility of Charlotte vs. Rhea if they didn't intend to deliver it.It solves a problem that the WWE writers have struggled with for the past two years: "What do we do with Charlotte?" She is the dominant centerpiece of the division--the product of wall-to-wall strong booking over a period of five years. She is a nine-time WWE champion; were she to retire today, her legacy would already be set in stone. But in the process of building the division around her, WWE pushed her a little too hard. She beat Asuka, widely considered to be one of the best wrestlers in the company, multiple times. The roster of women grew in size and diversity, but despite this, Charlotte continued to dominate the upper card. And because there were so many talented women that equaled and exceeded her abilities, her title reigns began to feel forced. The belt always seemed to come back to her in the end; she only loaned it out on occasion, and to some, she felt like either a filler or transitional champion. This overexposure reached a head at last year's Wrestlemania, where she was shoehorned into an already highly-anticipated main event match between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch. It was almost as if she had to be there, for no other reason than because she was Charlotte Flair. But this year, WWE has the right idea. They found a worthy role for Charlotte that would not clog up the main roster title picture, and instead, could elevate a younger talent on a massive stage. If Charlotte wins at Wrestlemania, all Rhea has to do is hang tough with her to raise her profile. And if Rhea wins at Wrestlemania, Charlotte wouldn't be hurt in the slightest. Rhea, meanwhile, would become an instant star.Of course, The Queen will eventually find her way to the top again. There will be a 10th reign, an 11th reign, and a 12th reign. But for now, it's nice to see Charlotte taking a backseat and contesting for a less prestigious title, where she'll be able to elevate her competition rather than detract from it. The share price of Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive slid on Wednesday following the news that co-founder and top creative boss Dan Houser was leaving. Shares of Take-Two finished on Wednesday at $120.76, which is down from $126.93 from the day prior, before the company announced Houser's forthcoming departure. That's a drop-off of nearly 5 percent, which is a giant drop for a single day.News of Houser leaving Take-Two came out of nowhere. The company disclosed his departure in a regulatory filing in the United States, but the firm has declined to share any further details regarding the reason for his exit. The company did, however, state that Houser had been away from the company on an "extended break" since spring 2019 following the intense workload of Red Dead Redemption 2. Houser said he and a small team worked 100-hour work weeks during some stages of the game's production, for which he was a writer.Take-Two will hold its next earnings briefing on February 6, so it might not be long until we learn more about this situation.Given the very little information that was made available, it's understandable that investors and analysts might be spooked, leading to a downturn in Take-Two's share price. What we do know, however, is that Dan's brother, Sam Houser, is staying with Rockstar as its president.Dan Houser's last day with Rockstar is March 11, 2020. He goes out on a very high note as it relates to commercial success. Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, the final two games he worked on that have shipped, have combined to sell 150 million copies. GTA 5 is the best-selling game of the decade in the United States. It remains to be seen what impact the loss of Dan Houser has on Rockstar's future games, including the expected GTA 6. He was a key creative figure in the development of the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises. In 2018, Dan Houser said it would be tricky to make GTA 6 in the world's political climate."It's really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did," Houser said about GTA 6. "Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant, and very angry."It is scary but it's also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd. It's hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast."According to Kotaku reporter Jason Schreier, Rockstar's workplace culture has been "rapidly improving" following the reports of extended crunch at the studio back in 2018.Info from Gamespot.com

A new month has arrived, and that means there's a new batch of Field Research tasks in Pokemon Go. As usual, February's Field Research tasks can be obtained by spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops, and completing them will earn you rewards, which can range from helpful items like Berries and Poke Balls to encounters with certain Pokemon. On top of those rewards, the first Field Research task you complete each day will also net you a stamp. Each time you collect seven stamps, you'll achieve a Research Breakthrough, which will earn you additional rewards, including an encounter with a special Pokemon. Last month's Research Breakthrough reward was Lapras that knew Ice Beam or Ice Shard, but this month, you'll have a chance to catch a new Gen 5 Pokemon instead: Woobat. The Field Research tasks you obtain will be randomly drawn from a larger pool, so there's no telling which ones you'll receive. Up to three Field Research tasks can be active at a time, but you can discard any that may be giving you trouble and receive a different task from another PokeStop. You can see the updated list of Pokemon Go's Field Research tasks--along with the possible rewards they dole out--below, courtesy of The Silph Road.February is shaping up to be a particularly busy month for Pokemon Go. Niantic has a ton of events lined up for this month, including a Sinnoh celebration that will make it easier to find Gen 4 Pokemon and a new Team Rocket Special Research quest that will lead to a chance to catch Shadow Raikou. This month will also bring a few more Gen 5 Pokemon to the game, including the Legendary Tornadus.February's Community Day, meanwhile, is set for Saturday, February 22. This time around, Niantic let players vote on what the featured Pokemon is. The results of the voting will be announced on February 3. Rod Fergusson, head of Gears of War developer The Coalition, has announced he is leaving the studio to join Blizzard. Fergusson has been instrumental in the Gears of War franchise from its inception, having worked on the very first entry in the franchise and every follow-up since. In a tweet, Fergusson confirmed he is joining Blizzard in March to oversee the Diablo franchise. He also thanked his former co-workers at The Coalition and Xbox. "Leaving is bittersweet as I love our Gears family, the fans, and everyone at The Coalition and Xbox," he said. "Thank you, it has been an honor and a privilege to work with you all."I began working on Gears of War over 15 years ago and since then, it has been the joy of my life. But now it’s time for a new adventure. I leave Gears in the great hands of The Coalition and can’t wait for everyone to play Gears Tactics on April 28. pic.twitter.com/Az5w0B631i — Rod Fergusson (@GearsViking) February 5, 2020Fergusson has had a rather storied career in video game development, in between working on Gears titles. In 2011 he left Epic Games and joined Irrational Games in 2012 as executive vice president of development. He is often credited with helping BioShock Infinite's development get back on track and reach the finish line. He also worked as a studio head at 2K and manager at Black Tusk, which became The Coalition. The Coalition's latest entry in the series was Gears 5, which has received favorable reviews. The game began pushing the franchise in new directions both narratively and in terms of design. Most notably, it introduced semi-open world areas, as well as vehicle-based exploration. Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 also shifted the focus away from Marcus, Dom, and other franchise staple characters to a new generation of characters. These two games have laid a strong foundation for the future, should The Coalition and Xbox pursue it. The next game in the Gears of War universe is set to be Gears Tactics, which releases on April 28.GameSpot recently featured Fergusson on an episode of Audio Logs, in which he broke down the journey of the franchise's most unlikely hero: Jack. You can watch that above. Info from Gamespot.com

Doctor Strange 2 has found a new director, it seems. After original director Scott Derrickson dropped out over "creative differences," Marvel is now speaking to Spider-Man director Sam Raimi about directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, according to Variety.Raimi directed the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy that began in 2002 and ended with 2007's Spider-Man 3. He later directed Drag Me To Hell and a Wizard of Oz prequel for Disney. Raimi was lined up to direct the Warcraft movie but he eventually dropped out. He criticized Blizzard, saying the company wasted months of work and mismanaged the movie.Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to hit theatres on May 7, 2021. Production is slated to begin this May.Benedict Cumberbatch is returning in the title role, while Benedict Wong (Wong) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Karl Mordo) are returning in their roles as well. James Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy 3, but he was later re-hired. There's always something deeply unnerving about a gas station at night. Depending on the road, it can be the only point of light for miles and miles, and beyond is nothing but an infinite abyss of curves and strange noises in between you and your destination. That Kentucky Route Zero's very first image is a gas station at twilight is apt. The game knocks you off-kilter in the first seconds, placing you in the last fading glow of sunlight before nightfall on a threadbare stretch of road. Even when the game's at its most peaceful and gentle, it never quite feels stable or permanent, like everything good, bad, strange, or affecting that happens in the next five acts could disappear into the darkness at any moment. That sense of impermanence is such a crucial part of Kentucky Route Zero, more so now that it's a complete work with a full arc and definitive ending. Beyond the various oddities and nonsensical moments, at its heart it's a game about American progress and the corpses it leaves in its wake, a pensive Wizard of Oz-like point-and-click adventure through a country whose yellow brick road is built on futile hopes and unanswered prayers. Its version of Kentucky is a nothing-place of American dreams breathing their last, if they're not already dead. Its protagonist, a grizzled, tired delivery truck driver named Conway, is headed in the same direction.Conway ends up here making his final delivery for his friend Lysette's antique store, after which he intends to retire. However, the road to the delivery address on 5 Dogwood Drive takes him through the Zero, an abstract Kentucky highway where, it seems, all things obsolete--people, places, objects--come to make residence. The Zero is, essentially, America's purgatory, a place that looks like cubist paintings of Silent Hill, and sounds like detuned radios and the white noise of old TVs. Hiding behind all of it are old creaky workers lamenting that they never earned enough to move away and coal miners crushed to death after giving their blood and sweat to a corporation they will never stop owing money to. Their stories are underscored by soul-shaking music that only the wrinkled and withered remember or perform. Every major beat of Conway's journey is punctuated by American requiems, ranging from mournful bluegrass elegies about people time forgot, sung by shadowy riverfolk, to ethereal love songs so powerful the skies literally open up over the stage to accept them. You navigate the Zero--in all of its fever-dream weirdness--primarily through dialogue trees and old-school adventure game mechanics. It's fairly linear when it comes to the particulars of making progress; either a tiny box will come up at your destination telling you to click on it to proceed, or you can simply run through every option until you proceed anyway. But staying on task is harder than it seems. Every area has one interaction that will advance the story, but there are a dozen other objects to examine, a dozen other NPC stories to hear, or a dozen other switches and buttons and context-sensitive areas to walk that shift the perspective of the entire area. All that added potential context really takes effort to ignore. In the first area of the game, Conway has a talk with a friendly gas station attendant about the road, about old age, about poetry, even. Then the power goes out, and Conway has to make his way into the gas station's mineshaft-turned-basement after the lights suddenly shut off. There, while flipping the circuit breakers, you come across and invisibly assist in grabbing some fallen dice for what appears to be a D&D game in progress in another dimension. Why, exactly, is there a D&D game happening in another dimension? You never quite know--there are, admittedly, some long threads to pull on in this game that lead nowhere, and although that's deliberate, it is occasionally frustrating--but that deceptively simple task is what passes for a tutorial in Kentucky Route Zero. It shows you exactly how it's going to try and sway you from the end goal time and time again. The vast menagerie of characters Conway meets on this journey contain multitudes; their dwellings and belongings are full of histories and unresolved relationships. These things beg for your attention and curiosity, urgent gold boxes waiting to be clicked on your way to the next critical step in the story. Often, they create more questions about these people and their world than they answer, but it becomes clear over time that there are answers, in every area, begging for you to chase them down. The entire game is a minefield of curiosity, where the only way to plow through to the end of each Act is to either thoroughly exhaust your curiosity or have absolutely none of it. The former is much more rewarding, and the game excels at making you want it, always placing the next narrative breadcrumb or the next leading question or the next inquisitive line of dialogue within easy reach, even if the payoff is miles down the road. However, it also means it's very easy to lose the main plot in the process. That's especially true since much of the poignancy and power of the main plot often requires you to proactively listen to and learn from the world. The stories being told along the way can take many forms--from homespun wisdom to analytical science theses to ordinary phone conversations between loved ones--but the game bets the farm on you being comprehensively thorough about engaging with all of it. With no way to rewind and play specific scenes over again without replaying the entire Act, missing a specific bit of information can leave entire portions of the game as obtuse, and not in the intentional way some scenes are.To play Kentucky Route Zero means having to be present and honed in on the world in a way that doesn't happen often in games. That frequently means hearing information relayed in a vast rainbow of ways, the game subtly training you to hear other people whose voices and experiences we are often trained by the modern world to tune out. The sharpness of the dialogue is so crucial and executed so well in that regard. Information is conveyed through every interaction, but even with the minor NPCs, the game emphasizes their worth as a character first and a mechanical function of the game second. Whether their next line opens the way to the next scene or not, there's a sense in every line of dialogue in the game that lives have been lived, this character has a history here we will never know, and their weariness is on display and palpable. It makes the world of this game feel real and tangible and lived in, which accentuates the disquieting fact that there are people who actually live in such desolation.Lines of dialogue from side characters can inform another character's major decisions to take the journey of their lifetime later. A stray line during a radio broadcast can tell you why Conway wound up at a particular location or why a road is blocked, or why the history of a place matters. But as engaging as it all is, especially in the later Acts of the game where you start having more control over which character to follow into the next scene, new information and character development can happen in a scene that you might've missed entirely. Still, the solution is to play that Act again, and there's so much to see and hear in the game that it's possible to have a very different and equally worthwhile experience next time.Sometimes the new information comes from choosing the dialogue in a straight one-on-one conversation; sometimes, you get a totally different perspective out of nowhere, like a segment where you select dialogue between museum researchers as they talk about your present actions in the past tense while watching you on a security camera playback. It forces you to think about how others view Conway and the companions who come to ride with him along the way with some level of psychological distance, a storytelling risk that pays off the more we start to learn about why these characters are who they are. That risk starts to pay off starting in Act III, where you can control the other side of a conversation, selecting responses for both Conway and the other participant. After seeing a doctor about an injury, and seeing the nightmarish remedy for that injury once he's awake, you can choose to let Conway be out of sorts from the anesthesia or perfectly lucid. Through the next line of dialogue, you can let him and the doctor talk about continued treatment, let Conway stew in bitterness or very justifiable fear, or hop right into the worrisome particulars of the bill. It's a captivating game of conversational tennis against yourself. You wind up experiencing and creating the story all at once, which makes the game more mechanically dream-like than anything. Combined with just how abstract many of the concepts and emotions you bounce back and forth can be, it's not just a difference of agency so much as using that agency to form a group perspective, a collective conscience these characters will never know, but you do.Very little in the overarching story of the Zero happens necessarily by your choice, and that's a hard fact of real life that has been translated admirably here. No matter how much you tell your companions that your injury is fine or dodge questions about how deep in debt you are to those who help you, as Conway himself says, every man eventually has to settle up. And in that respect, the larger beats of this story will occur regardless of the choices you make. The intricate control you have over many of the game's conversations isn't about changing your fate, but how you parse it and accept it. That dovetails beautifully into the larger themes of the game, of getting to the acceptance stage of all the grief each character has endured. In that acceptance, you do have complete control. People in this game will get ill, you will miss your chance to tell someone you loved them, you won't quite know what their last wishes were, and the world outside the Zero will often intrude and make life just a little harder for its residents once again. You can be angry, or petulant, or morose, and you can let that be the story of this world, but that's a choice you can make in every scene. To sit with each interactable character is to sit with and have empathy for their failures. That empathy is important given how alienating and lonely Kentucky Route Zero can feel. Much of the game's interpretation of Kentucky life is portrayed in a very spartan, angular style of giant polygons meticulously fit together like puzzle pieces until they resemble minimalist facsimiles of human beings, trees, houses, and the like. It's often stark and eerie, which makes the moments where it's striking and stunning all the more effective. An early transition from the outside of a house to its interior occurs by watching the vector lines that form the building's exterior move aside like shrinking geometric vines. One of the most powerful examples is a simple scene of Conway and Lysette sitting at a breakfast table. The geometric white streaks at Conway's temples and his slouching back hint at his exhaustion, informing his decision to make this next delivery his last; Lysette's face blank, but held wistfully, and framed by square glasses pointed blankly towards the outside world even. It's an abstract picture that still speaks volumes. It should be said that Act V ends not with a bang, not with a whimper, but with the kind of deep sigh you hear from working folks at five o'clock on a Friday after a hard week. The game's aesthetic is capable of portraying breathtaking Midwestern landscapes, stark monuments to the coldness of industry, unfeeling research rooms, and cathedrals to forgotten American ephemera, bolstered ever so slightly by some new and subtle graphical grace notes added to the game since Act IV's release. New lighting effects have been added, with specific scenes being brightened, and, most notably, a dazzling starfield effect during the game's stand-out musical number, “Too Late To Love You.†Those scattered moments of warmth and wonder have been sweetened all the more by the changes, making the scenes of respite even more welcome and memorable. Still, it all pales in comparison to what awaits you in the long-anticipated Act V: a heavenly place of sun and grass, demolished by the raging storms and flooding. The visually exhilarating elements of the final landscape make the horror of all the death and destruction hit even heavier.Despite that initial visual gutstab of Act V, it should be said that it ends not with a bang, not with a whimper, but with the kind of deep sigh you hear from working folks at five o'clock on a Friday after a hard week. I assumed, going into that final Act, that we'd be looking at a story of rebellion, a day of reckoning for the marginalized and downtrodden. I should've known better. Kentucky Route Zero isn't screaming for vengeance against all that America has lost, though there is an undeniable righteous anti-capitalist streak running throughout. The game doesn't so much resolve all the seething tensions and unfulfilled promises seen prior, but demands that you shoulder some of the weight of remembering and honoring what you've seen and heard. The overall point of the game is that not everyone's life will be paid off in a way that provides catharsis, or comfort, or satisfaction. Sometimes it just ends, sometimes it keeps going whether we're there to see it or not, and sometimes it's just disappointment. Conway has debts to pay, and there is a chance he drops dead working to pay them back. That is as American as it gets in the 21st century. What Act V does, though, is give everyone one last chance to rail against that fact, mourn it, continue to have hopes regardless which, too, is what it is to live here. Kentucky Route Zero has been priming us for seven years to recognize that life isn't fair, though we'd gain so much if it was, and sometimes we're lucky enough to make it as fair as it can be. But just as often, we're not. Kentucky Route Zero is ultimately a story about America's ghosts, literal and metaphorical. It's a story about entire ways of life coming to one singular place to die quietly, hopefully with dignity. In all of its oddity, it never backs down from the fact that all that is now dead will stay dead, and for those who have settled in along the Zero, that includes the American dream.Info from Gamespot.com

Apex Legends Season 4 is live, and you can now download the big update on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Alongside this, Respawn has published patch notes detailing its many changes and additions, including those adjusting the map, adding a new playable legend, introducing a new battle pass, tweaking weapons, and much more.Revenant's abilities have finally been revealed now that the update is out--these had been a mystery until now, as Respawn had provided no official indication of what he would be capable of. His passive, Stalker, allows him to crouch walk more quickly than other characters, and also climb higher up walls. His Tactical, Silence, lets him throw a projectile that damages enemies and disables their abilities for 10 seconds. And his Ultimate, Death Totem, places a totem that causes you to return to it when you die. Also detailed is the new Sentinel sniper rifle weapon, which can use a shield battery you're carrying to boost the damage it does to the enemy's shields. It is effective at medium to long-range, but has a limited amount of energy that decays slowly over time, so it loses power with each shot. Once it's out of power, the energized state resulting from using a shield battery ends. Apex Legends News Apex Legends Update: Patch Notes For Season 4 Apex Legends Season 4 Revenant Abilities Revealed: Stalker, Silence, And Death Totem Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation Battle Pass Rewards Apex Legends Season 4: Start Time, Revenant, Map Changes, And What's New Meanwhile, the World's Edge map has changed in a variety of ways, which we'd already heard about, and numerous tweaks have been made to characters and weapon balance. One big change is the introduction of sniper ammo. Previously sniper rifles used standard heavy, energy, or light ammo, but Respawn has said it introduced unique sniper ammo to create "a deeper, more balanced long-range meta.""Since snipers shared ammo types with SMGs and LMGs, there wasn't a great way to put ammo scarcity on sniper rifles without really penalizing the more ammo hungry weapons that used the same ammo type. The Sentinel, Longbow DMR, Triple Take, and Charge Rifle now use the sniper ammo, which contains 10 shots per pickup. The Charge Rifle now uses one sniper ammo per shot, with a single magazine holding four shots.Extended magazine attachments for sniper ammo have been added and, energy ammo now gives 30 per pickup instead of 20. In terms of hop-ups, the Turbocharger has been removed, as have extended mags for energy ammo. Furthermore, the gold backpack has had an update to its UI to better convey to the player when they're being revived with the perk.Interestingly, characters that are harder to hit now take five percent more damage. These characters are Revenant, Watson, Wraith, Pathfinder, Lifeline. You can see the full patch notes below. We've also got a round-up of all the Apex Legends Season 4 battle pass rewards for you to look at.SEASON 4: ASSIMILATION PATCH NOTESNew Battle PassOver 100 exclusive items including Legendary skins, Apex Packs, Loading screens, Music Packs, and more! Check out everything in the Season 4 battle pass here.New Legend: RevenantConsumed by hate and obsessed with revenge, Revenant uses unnatural abilities to haunt his enemies and defy death.Passive: Stalker - You crouch walk faster and can climb higher up walls.Tactical: Silence - Throw a device that deals damage and disables enemy abilities for 10 secondsUltimate: Death Totem - Drop a totem that protects users from death. Instead of getting killed or downed, you will return to the totem [with X health]Low Profile -Revenant takes +5% damage.New Weapon: Sentinel Sniper RifleThe Sentinel is a bolt action sniper rifle, effective at medium to long range. If a player presses the "fire select" with a shield battery equipped, the Sentinel will consume the shield battery from your inventory and temporarily enters an energized state. While energized, the Sentinel fires projectiles that deal massive damage to shields. The projectiles use different VFX trails, and there is a unique energized firing sound, so all nearby players know that the Sentinel is firing these higher damage projectiles. The Sentinel has a limited amount of energy that decays slowly over time, and loses a big chunk of juice for each shot. Once the energy runs out, the energized state ends.Map UpdateOur main goal for a map update, on the design side, is to get players to make new decisions.By the end of a season, you probably have your favorite spot, or spots, to land. You might prefer to rotate out of your drop location in a certain direction which in turns makes a lot of your games feel similar as the season progresses. Our goal as designers is to offer new ways for you to approach the game, and in this case the map, so that each drop, rotation, and gunfight feels as fresh as possible. Here are a few things we're doing in Season 4 to hopefully help achieve that. You can read the full details of the changes in our blog here and you can check out the highlights below:The Planet Harvester: With its large, multi-level design the Planet Harvester is unlike anything else on World's Edge and brings exciting new gameplay options to the game.Capitol City Split in Two: Capitol City was the biggest POI in Season 3, getting the most action right out of the ship. By sending the fissure straight through Capitol City and creating some dead space in between (swallowing up one of the construction buildings as well), we essentially split this area into two separate zones for players to land in and loot: Fragment East and Fragment West. The Updrafts: If you jump into the fissure that cuts through Capitol City you’ll slowly be carried back up from the heated, pressurized air, and allowed to coast across and land on the other side. This is balanced by two things. First, you take 25 damage from the intense heat and embers floating inside. This is a consistent amount of damage every time you drop back down. Second, you travel very slowly, in third person, while moving in the updraft.Survey Camp:This is a new, small POI in the snowy fields between the Epicenter and Skyhook.Weapon Racks: These are guaranteed weapons placed on racks in the small buildings of Survey Camp. You’ll recognize them from Training or the Firing Range. This should give players who prioritize a good weapon over a premier drop location a new decision to make.Ranked Series 3 Moving to Splits per season, ~6 weeks of ranked play before a resetAdding Master Tier, Apex Predator becomes top 500 players by platform.Soft reset and scoring are the same, but soft reset is every split.Dive trails will be moving to a seasonal reward model, but Series 1 & 2 players are grandfathered in.The update to how assists are scored in Series 3 also applies to Revenant’s Silence ability.Anniversary Login GiftFor the first week of Season 4 - Assimilation (Feb 4, 2020 - Feb 11, 2020), anyone who logs in during that time will receive the Anniversary Gift, which includes:Year 1 Origami Flyer charm (if you’ve got any ideas for cotton, please let us know)Year 1 Loyalty badge10k XP for your first match of the day (available each day)The Loyalty badge comes in 3 different flavors depending on when you took your first leap from the drop ship, so feel free to flex on all your latecomer buddies.LootNew Sniper Ammo: [10 shots per pickup] - Our goal here is to create a deeper, more balanced long-range meta. Since snipers shared ammo types with SMGs and LMGs, there wasn't a great way to put ammo scarcity on sniper rifles without really penalizing the more ammo hungry weapons that used the same ammo type. So for Season 4 we’ve added a new class of ammo that only applies to Sniper Rifles that we hope will have players being careful about the shots they take and limit how long they can pressure targets at long range before having to reposition. All snipers now take new ammo type:SentinelLongbow DMRTripleTakeCharge Rifle [now uses 1 sniper ammo per shot. Magazine holds 4 shots]New attachment: Extended magazine for Sniper ammo.Energy Ammo: Now gives 30 ammo per pickup instead of 20. Most ammo players pick up comes from packs that spawn next to energy weapons on the ground. Now that there are only 2 energy ammo weapons in Apex, we needed to up the ammo per brick to keep energy ammo from being too scarce.Removed Loot: The following items have been removed from the game Turbocharger hop-upExtended mags for energy ammo [this change went out earlier than intended in the last update and should make sense with other changes in this patch but we wanted to include it here as well for players returning for Season 4 that were not aware].Gold Backpack: UI update to better convey to the player when they are using or being revived with the perk.WeaponsWe want to shift up what weapons are the strongest. Also, we're aiming to reduce the power of some weapons that seem too strong and give a little boost to some weapons that haven't been performing as well as we'd like.Update to Ironsight Accuracy Apex guns move around subtly while ADS -- they rotate and sway as you move your aim, they bob up and down and side to side while moving, etc. We have special tech that makes sure the reticle on the optics stays centered even as the gun moves around a bit. However, until season 4, the ironsights on weapons didn't have this tech. That meant that the ironsights reticles could move around with the weapon and actually be slightly inaccurate -- they wouldn't point at the screen center where the next shot would fire. With season 4, we have updated most of the weapons' ironsights to properly stay centered now. Not all ironsights are upgraded yet, but we will be updating the remaining weapons as this season progresses. The weapons that will be updated for Season 4 are:Longbow DMRTripleTakeCharge RifleSentinel Sniper RifleHavocR-301FlatlineSpitfire LMGR-99AlternatorMozambiqueMastiffRE-45WingmanG7 ScoutMoved from Sniper to the Assault Rifle class. Now only accepts AR optics and attachments [including barrel stabilizers and stock].Still accepts Double Tap hop-up.Contributes to progress for stats/challenges for AR’s moving forward.Reduced fire rate 4.5 -> 4.0Increasing time between shots for double tap 0.425 -> 0.475Fixed bug where G7 had 0 ADS air spread, making it the only gun that was perfectly accurate on ziplines, etc.L-STARThe L-STAR is no longer a crate weapon and can now be found around the map.Uses energy ammo.Reloading has been removed and the L-STAR will overheat after sustained fire so best to fire in short bursts to manage overheating and recoil.Damage reduced per shot 19 -> 18Rate of Fire decreased 12 -> 10Less horizontal viewkick when the weapon fires.DevoltionThe Devotion was chosen to go into the crate for a couple of reasons. Mainly 1) it is an energy ammo LMG, and so is the L-STAR and 2) data shows us that a fully kitted Devotion is actually one of the strongest weapons in the game, and could work at crate power level.Removed from normal loot pool and is now a crate weapon.Magazine size: 54Total ammo stock: 162Turbocharger functionality.HavocWith the removal of turbocharger, we wanted to buff the base havoc. Most notably, we are reducing horizontal recoil and making it easier to control. No longer accepts the Turbocharger hop-up [turbocharger has been removed from the game] but can still equip Select Fire.Decreased time between shots when using Select Fire hop-up .77 -> .56R-99Reduced damage per shot 12 -> 11Increased magazine size for the first 3 tiers:Base: 18 -> 20Common: 20 -> 22Rare: 23 -> 24Epic: 27 -> 27ProwlerIncreased damage per shot 14 -> 15HemlokIncreased single-shot rate of fire 5.6 -> 6.4WingmanAdjusted magazine sizes: Base: 4 -> 5Common: 6 -> 6Rare: 8 -> 7Epic: 10 -> 8EVA-8Double Tap hop-up: reduced the delay between bursts: 0.85 -> 0.80MastiffFixed an exploit that players discovered and reported where you could rapidly fire the Mastiff.Gold Weapon UpdateThe following will be the new set of Gold Weapons for Season 4:HavocP2020SentinelProwlerR-301Legends BloodhoundDowning (not killing) players adds 5 seconds to Beast of the Hunt timer. Loss forgiveness when a teammate leaves or fails to connect is unchanged, and is working as intended. We will be limiting the RP loss forgiveness when you leave once per day. If you exceed once per day more than three times per ranked series, you lose all forgiveness for the remainder of that series. Once these limits are reached players will no longer receive RP loss forgiveness when abandoning a match, regardless of the reason for quitting. We will continue to display prompts that alert you that leaving will count, and now will alert you when you are about to run out of loss forgiveness games. The scaling penalties are the same as last Series.Players Crashing With DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNGSome player are experiencing an issue where Apex is crashing with a “DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG†error message. We are working closely with NVIDIA to help determine the cause of the issue and provide gamers with a solution (via updated driver or game patch) as soon as possible.Matchmaking UpdateWith this patch we’ll be pushing out changes globally to matchmaking that we’ve been testing in specific regions. We’re well aware that this has been a contentious topic among players and there’s been some misinformation out there so just to be clear: skill-based matchmaking has existed in Apex since launch and we’ll be continuing to improve it over time.Info from Gamespot.com

The PlayStation Now games for February have been revealed for PC and PlayStation 4, and the three on offer present very distinct experiences revolving around a common denominator: resource management. For February, you can pick up Cities: Skylines, Lego Worlds, and The Evil Within. Each title can be downloaded or streamed on your PC or PS4 as long as you have an active PS Now membership, which is now $10 / £9 instead of $20 / £13 following a price cut in October 2019.Originally released in March 2015 before making its way to PS4 in August 2017, Cities: Skylines is a city-builder that lets you construct the town of your dreams. You can build an industrial metropolis or a utopia sustained by renewable energy. And as the city's mayor, you're tasked with watching over the economy and infrastructure. In our Cities: Skylines review, we said, "Even with a few PC issues and a less-than-perfect Switch port, Cities: Skylines remains the best city-builder on the market right now."Lego Worlds, which launched in March 2017, is a sandbox game in which you build entire worlds out of legos. You can create using predefined blueprints and structures or the brick-by-brick editor, which gives you more freedom to build how you want. It bears a lot in common with other city builders like Anno 1800 and SimCity, as well as sandboxes such as Minecraft and No Man's Sky. Lego Worlds is also available on Xbox Game Pass.Perhaps the headlining title on February's PS Now lineup is The Evil Within, the 2014 survival-horror experience directed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. You play as Sebastian Castellano, a police detective who finds himself trapped in a nightmarish hellscape while investigating a murder at a mental hospital. Resources are scarce here, and choosing when to fight and when to run are vital for survival. In our The Evil Within review, we said, "What [The Evil Within] does at its core it does so well that all those issues floating on the periphery eventually fade away to reveal a satisfying if slightly blemished return to classic survival horror."Lego Worlds is only available through PS Now until August 4, 2020, while both Cities: Skylines and The Evil Within seemingly don't have expiration dates at the moment. These three games join PS Now's ever-growing selection, which includes titles such as Formula 1 2019, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, and more. January's PS Now offerings--including Horizon Zero Dawn, Overcooked 2, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy--are still up for grabs. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has confirmed the return of a fan-favorite character. A brief teaser hints at the return of Lt. Simon "Ghost" Riley, scheduled to drop on February 11, when Season 2 is likely to begin. The teaser on Twitter shows someone logging into view encrypted files from Captain Price, ending with a brief view of Ghost's reflection in the laptop screen. The files themselves may hint at what to expect on the release date, as it teases "updated weapons system/ordinance" and "new team operators" for support. All of this is said to be happening at the location "Grid X-Ray Delta Yankee 4."💀 pic.twitter.com/QHdNylP1NM — Call of Duty (@CallofDuty) February 4, 2020Aside from those clues, the teaser doesn't give any more details. We can probably expect Ghost to join as a multiplayer character, or a new Spec Ops mission featuring the character. The inclusion of Ghost doesn't come as much surprise. He's been one of the most popular Call of Duty characters since his debut in 2009's Modern Warfare 2, and Infinity Ward has been hinting at a return. Modern Warfare 2019 was something of a soft reboot, reintroducing characters like Captain Price in a new, updated context. We will have to see how Infinity Ward updates the enigmatic Ghost, if at all. This Modern Warfare is also being treated as a live game, with regular updates adding new battle pass rewards, maps, playlists, and other features. The latest update added Shipment as the 24/7 map, and tweaked several weapons. Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation, the new season in developer Respawn's battle royale, is now live on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and there's plenty of new content to look forward to in the free update.Below, we outlined all of the new information we have on Assimilation, including the Season 4 start time, what we know about new character Revenant, and new weapon the Sentinel. Kings Canyon makes a return in this new season as well, though not how we expected. Assimilation also overhauls Ranked Mode and makes adjustments to how certain in-game features work, like getting Assists.Table of Contents [hide]Patch NotesNew CharacterNew WeaponTwo Maps, Two Halves For Ranked ModeHelp Your Friends And Earn More PointsBrand-New Rank TierParty RestrictionsStart Of The Season RewardsEnd Of The Season RewardsPatch NotesThe most immediate and essential question is when does Apex Season 4 start? The answer is now! Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation is now live, with a brand new playable legend and more. Learn more about Assimilation's battle pass rewards or read the full patch notes for Season 4 to see what's new.New CharacterIn Season 4, Apex Legends gains a new character, Revenant. Respawn has slowly been teasing the creepy legend ever since the Halloween-themed Fight or Fright. Originally, Respawn announced that Forge would be the new legend, but then Revenant killed him.Gameplay-wise, Revenant is a support legend. In the Season 4 gameplay trailer, we see Revenant climbing higher and faster than most legends, throw out an explosive orb of dark energy that seems to stun enemies and disable their abilities, and set up a totem that gives him and his allies a chance to immediately respawn after being killed. Now that Season 4 is live, you can learn more about Revenant's new abilities, including Stalker, Silence, and Death Totem.New WeaponApex Legends is getting another sniper rifle. Like Season 3: Meltdown's Charge Rifle, Season 4: Assimilation's Sentinel is a sniper rifle focused around a charging mechanic. However, instead of needing to charge in order to fire, the Sentinel seems to be a gun that can charge itself to fire a more powerful shot--allowing you to snipe at foes with fast but weak shots or strong but slow shots. The Sentinel isn't a Titanfall or Titanfall 2 weapon, though its name may be in reference to a spaceship from the games. Two Maps, Two Halves For Ranked ModeKings Canyon is returning to Apex Legends in Season 4, though you'll still have to wait a bit before you can play on it again. Assimilation's Ranked Mode will now be divided into two halves--the first of which will see you continue to play on a drastically remade World's Edge, while the latter half will take players back to Kings Canyon.Season 4 will be split between two different maps, instead of solely focusing on one.Help Your Friends And Earn More PointsRespawn is changing how Assists work in Assimilation. The timer for getting an Assist will be extended from 5 seconds to 7.5 seconds, giving you a larger window of opportunity to earn points for helping a teammate down an opponent. Season 4 will also allow you to earn Assist points when an ally kills an enemy you tricked with a Mirage Decoy, nabbed with a Pathfinder Grapple, damaged with a Crypto EMP, or scanned with Crypto or Bloodhound.Brand-New Rank TierIn Ranked Mode, the tiers have been adjusted so that levels that were once considered Apex Predator are now called Master. The tier of Apex Predator will only be given to the 500 highest-ranking players on each platform (Xbox One, PS4, and PC), so only 1500 people in the world will hold the title.Other than that, ranks will work as they did in Season 3, with the start of Season 4 giving all players a soft reset. The soft reset will lower your current rank by 1.5 tiers. So, for example, if you're currently Gold I, Season 4 will see you start as Silver III.Party RestrictionsSeason 4: Assimilation will also have brand-new restrictions on who you can party-up with. Once you reach Platinum IV, you can only party up with players who are within one tier rank of you. So, for instance, if you're Platinum, you can only party up with players who are Gold through Diamond, while a Diamond player can only party with teammates who are Platinum through Master. This does mean you will no longer be able to boost a low-ranking player and get a fresh Bronze-level account into Diamond or Master, as new accounts won't be able to join high-ranking matches until they've earned enough points to be Gold at the very minimum. On the other hand, the change should also mean that you will be consistently paired up against players within your skill bracket once you enter high-tier play.Start Of The Season RewardsAt the start of Season 4, you'll earn rewards dependent on the rank you achieved in Season 3: Meltdown. All players will receive a new badge that reflects their Season 3 rank. Ranks Gold through Apex Predator will also receive a gun charm cosmetic that's colored to match your Season 3 rank--with the exception of Diamond and Apex Predator, which will receive ice and molten lava-themed charms, respectively. Diamond and Apex Predator will also get new dive trails, the former will get ice and the latter fire. You'll also get rewards just for logging in on February 4. All players will receive a paper crane gun charm as well as a new badge that reflects when in the past year you started playing Apex Legends. You'll only earn this particular charm if you've been playing Apex Legends since basically the beginning.End Of The Season RewardsAll ranks will earn new badges at the end of Season 4, but only Gold through Apex Predator will earn a new weapon cosmetic and only Diamond and Apex Predator will earn a new dive trail.Only the highest-ranking 1500 players across the world (500 on Xbox One, 500 on PS4, and 500 on PC) will be able to earn the title of Apex Predator in Season 4.
