Apex Legends Season 4 just launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, bringing with it a new battle pass, the Sentinel sniper rifle, new playable character Revenant, and a host of World's End map changes. We've got you covered with everything new in Season 4: Assimilation, but there's one such change that's already proving to be a particularly dangerous hazard for some teams. The new Planet Harvester was dropped into Apex Legends' map as part of the new season by the sinister in-game corporation, Hammond Robotics. These guys are like the de facto villains of the Titanfall universe, having backed the evil IMC in Titanfall 2. Their Planet Harvester is currently tearing up a portion of the World's End map and blasting all of its harvested resources into the sky using a giant energy beam. Now, you might surmise that flying directly into this ominous beam of light would be lethal, and you would be right. But some players had to find this out the hard way.PSA: The harvester beam will kill you if you fly through it from r/apexlegendsAs it turns out, flying directly into the energy beam will result in instant death. Funny? Yes. But considering you're not always in control of when your team hops out of the drop ship, this will no doubt be a prime method for some obnoxious griefing. Although you're not entirely safe when staying inside the drop ship either. I don't think this is supposed to work like this from r/apexlegendsIf the path of the drop ship takes you directly over the energy beam, it will kill everyone still strapped into their seats. This one seems more like a bug than anything else, or maybe Respawn is just nefarious enough to want to shake things up a bit by forcing teams to evacuate before they meet their demise. Either way, the Planet Harvester adds an unexpected new wrinkle to Apex Legends' map. "What sticks with me is the exciting battle against elemental titans with Hercules, taking Rapunzel out into the unfamiliar wide world for the first time, snapping selfies with Winnie the Pooh, and going toe to toe with Davy Jones. Before Speed, The Matrix, and John Wick, Keanu Reeves was the star of another fondly-remembered movie franchise. The 1989 time-travelling comedy Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and its 1991 sequel, Bogus Journey, featured Reeves and Alex Winter as a pair of time-travelling metalheads. The duo return to the series this year in Bill & Ted Face The Music. with the first poster now out in the public. The poster doesn't include Reeves or Winter--or even the title of the film. But it does feature the iconic phone that Bill and Ted use to travel across the centuries, together with a very large reminder that the movie hits theaters this summer. Check it out below:Bill & Ted Face the Music releases on August 21, 2020, and the movie is directed by Galaxy Quest's Dean Parisot. The film also stars Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as Bill and Ted's daughters, William Sadler as Death, Hal Landon Jr. as Ted's dad Chief Logan, and Amy Stoch as Ted's stepmom Missy. Barry star Anthony Carrigan will appear as the film's main villain. This poster follows the first images from the film, which were released in December. And while we've yet to see a trailer or any footage, Winter did appear as both the young and older version of Bill in Walmart's Super Bowl commercial last weekend. For more, check out GameSpot's round-up of the best Super Bowl 2020 commercials. The movie is written by franchise creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Matheson provided a few hints about to expect from the new movie. He explained that 30 years later, Bill and Ted and their band Wyld Stallyns are still struggling to create the world-saving music that they were told they would write in Excellent Adventure. "They were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality, and they've been working on it the whole time," Matheson said. "Now an emissary from the future comes and says, 'You've got to do it right now. We've got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end.'"For more, check out GameSpot's guide to the biggest upcoming movies of 2020.Info from Gamespot.com

Fable Fortune, the card-battling spin-off of Lionhead's beloved fantasy RPG series, is shutting down on March 4. As a result, the game's in-game store is now deactivated.Originally released back in 2018 after a few months in Microsoft's Game Preview program, Fable Fortune almost never saw the light of day. With Hearthstone's popularity soaring, a small team within Lionhead began work on the collectable card game as a Fable-themed alternative. When Lionhead shut down in 2016, however, Fable Fortune was still unannounced. But Microsoft gave its blessing to a group of former Lionhead developers to continue with the project as part of a new team called Flaming Fowl Studios. The game launched as a free-to-play title for Xbox One and PC in 2018, but is now shutting down for good just over two years after arriving in early access. A new open-world Fable game is reportedly in development at Forza Horizon studio Playground Games, so at least Fable Fortune won't be the last we see of the series.Info from Gamespot.com

Writer Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez's IDW series Locke & Key may have ended in 2013--at least the main story arc did. However, there is still more on the way. Aside from the previously revealed six-issue series "World War Key," the author of the comic has announced a new one-shot called "Pale Battalions."During an event for the Locke & Key TV series at Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles, the panel of Hill and Rodriguez, alongside executive producers and co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill, spoke about the first season of the original show. However, Hill also revealed a new one-shot issue that he and Rodriguez are currently working on in the Locke & Key universe. "I'm in the midst of writing one called Locke & Key: Pale Battalions, and it's set at the beginning of the 20th century," Hill said. "It will take the comic in a really interesting direction--a direction it's never gone before."The new one-shot relates to other stories from "The Golden Age" of Locke & Key stories--other one-shots not part of the main Locke family stories. "This is a thing we've been talking about for a little while now," continued Hill. "It involves the characters from 'Open The Moon' and 'Small World.' It's taken us some time to organize it. This next standalone is the gateway to a larger story that we've been dreaming about for years, and it's been a hell of a thing to try and pull together.""Open The Moon" released in 2011, and takes place in Keyhouse's past. The book also featured an expanded guide to the known keys of the world. "Small World" debuted in late 2016, and the story follows two girls who receive a magical birthday gift that leads to a terrifying encounter. Hill stated that we will learn more about this one-shot and where the Locke & Key world is headed soon. The comic is still in the very early phases, so don't expect it to be released anytime soon.As for the upcoming Netflix series, in his review of Season 1 of Locke & Key, GameSpot's Mike Rougeau said, "If the Netflix version is your first introduction to Locke and Key and you don't mind some cheesy writing, congratulations--you'll probably enjoy the show just fine, without all the baggage of the high expectations that fans have been lugging around for the decade-plus since Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's masterful horror comics series debuted." The Fast and Furious franchise news is coming at us, well, fast and furious. Last week saw the release of F9's very first trailer which, in addition to showcasing a car using a rope bridge to swing across a giant canyon, teased the return of fan-favorite character Han. Now, Vin Diesel has revealed that plans for the tenth movie in the line-up are already underway, and it might be a two-parter.In an interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar), Diesel said that Fast and Furious 10 may be split into two movies to join with F9 in becoming the "last trilogy to end the saga." This means the FF franchise could be joining the grand tradition of movies like Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay to bring a finale home by splitting the story into two distinct movies. Honestly, it seems pretty appropriate, given everything The Fast and Furious movies have done so far.Diesel went on to explain that plans for the tenth movie have been brewing for a good long while. "I started planning for Fast 10 before we started filming Fast 9. Very much so. The universe is so robust and so rich with talent and rich with story that, on one level, it's totally feasible to have spinoffs, and I think that's something that is inevitable. Universal deserves it because of how much they've invested in this little saga, and it'd be good to give back to Universal. And for the fans, should Fast 10 parts one and two be the conclusion, it would be nice for this world to continue for generations to come."So, by the sounds of it, while the "main" arm of the franchise may be coming to an end with a two-part tenth film, Diesel is more than open to spin-offs and side stories in the future. The important thing to take away here is that this means there's absolutely still a chance that Dom's family will end up going to the moon at some point, even if it doesn't happen in the main FF saga. There's always hope. Don't give up on your dreams.F9 hits theaters May 22. Info from Gamespot.com

With Byleth's addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo's mascot fighter now includes eight characters from the Fire Emblem series--tying it with Pokemon for the second-most number of representatives. Many fans have long complained that Smash Bros. features a disproportionate amount of Fire Emblem characters, and it appears game director Masahiro Sakurai feels the same.In his latest column for Famitsu magazine (as translated by Siliconera), Sakurai agrees that Smash Bros. has too many fighters from the Fire Emblem series. "There are too many Fire Emblem characters. And there are too many sword characters. I, too, understand," Sakurai writes. "However, these things are already decided, so we move forward."Ultimately, Sakurai explains, Nintendo is responsible for deciding which characters make the cut. "I don't choose the fighters based on my own preference, that's for Nintendo to bring in," Sakurai says. That will be the case for the next wave of DLC characters; Sakurai confirmed during his recent Byleth reveal stream that all six new characters in development for the game have already been selected, so there's no use in telling him your requests.Byleth arrived alongside Smash Bros. Ultimate's 7.0 patch, which made a sweeping array of balance adjustments to many fighters. The update also introduced an assortment of new Mii Fighter costumes, one of which is based on Cuphead. On top of that, Switch Online subscribers can grab another free Spirit Board Challenge Pack from the Eshop for a limited time.As for the next wave of DLC, Sakurai hasn't teased who the new fighters will be, but they're all slated to release by the end of 2021. You can pre-purchase the entire set right now via the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which costs $30 USD. If you do grab the Fighters Pass, you'll receive a Mii Fighter costume based on the Ancient Soldier gear from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as a bonus.Info from Gamespot.com

The answer is now! Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation is now live, with a brand new playable legend and more. Learn more about Assimilation's battle pass rewards or read the full patch notes for Season 4 to see what's new.New CharacterIn Season 4, Apex Legends gains a new character, Revenant. Respawn has slowly been teasing the creepy legend ever since the Halloween-themed Fight or Fright. Originally, Respawn announced that Forge would be the new legend, but then Revenant killed him.Gameplay-wise, Revenant is a support legend. In the Season 4 gameplay trailer, we see Revenant climbing higher and faster than most legends, throw out an explosive orb of dark energy that seems to stun enemies and disable their abilities, and set up a totem that gives him and his allies a chance to immediately respawn after being killed. Now that Season 4 is live, you can learn more about Revenant's new abilities, including Stalker, Silence, and Death Totem.New WeaponApex Legends is getting another sniper rifle. Like Season 3: Meltdown's Charge Rifle, Season 4: Assimilation's Sentinel is a sniper rifle focused around a charging mechanic. However, instead of needing to charge in order to fire, the Sentinel seems to be a gun that can charge itself to fire a more powerful shot--allowing you to snipe at foes with fast but weak shots or strong but slow shots. The Sentinel isn't a Titanfall or Titanfall 2 weapon, though its name may be in reference to a spaceship from the games. Two Maps, Two Halves For Ranked ModeKings Canyon is returning to Apex Legends in Season 4, though you'll still have to wait a bit before you can play on it again. Assimilation's Ranked Mode will now be divided into two halves--the first of which will see you continue to play on a drastically remade World's Edge, while the latter half will take players back to Kings Canyon.Season 4 will be split between two different maps, instead of solely focusing on one.Help Your Friends And Earn More PointsRespawn is changing how Assists work in Assimilation. The timer for getting an Assist will be extended from 5 seconds to 7.5 seconds, giving you a larger window of opportunity to earn points for helping a teammate down an opponent. Season 4 will also allow you to earn Assist points when an ally kills an enemy you tricked with a Mirage Decoy, nabbed with a Pathfinder Grapple, damaged with a Crypto EMP, or scanned with Crypto or Bloodhound.Brand-New Rank TierIn Ranked Mode, the tiers have been adjusted so that levels that were once considered Apex Predator are now called Master. The tier of Apex Predator will only be given to the 500 highest-ranking players on each platform (Xbox One, PS4, and PC), so only 1500 people in the world will hold the title.Other than that, ranks will work as they did in Season 3, with the start of Season 4 giving all players a soft reset. The soft reset will lower your current rank by 1.5 tiers. So, for example, if you're currently Gold I, Season 4 will see you start as Silver III.Party RestrictionsSeason 4: Assimilation will also have brand-new restrictions on who you can party-up with. Once you reach Platinum IV, you can only party up with players who are within one tier rank of you. So, for instance, if you're Platinum, you can only party up with players who are Gold through Diamond, while a Diamond player can only party with teammates who are Platinum through Master. This does mean you will no longer be able to boost a low-ranking player and get a fresh Bronze-level account into Diamond or Master, as new accounts won't be able to join high-ranking matches until they've earned enough points to be Gold at the very minimum. On the other hand, the change should also mean that you will be consistently paired up against players within your skill bracket once you enter high-tier play.Start Of The Season RewardsAt the start of Season 4, you'll earn rewards dependent on the rank you achieved in Season 3: Meltdown. All players will receive a new badge that reflects their Season 3 rank. Ranks Gold through Apex Predator will also receive a gun charm cosmetic that's colored to match your Season 3 rank--with the exception of Diamond and Apex Predator, which will receive ice and molten lava-themed charms, respectively. Diamond and Apex Predator will also get new dive trails, the former will get ice and the latter fire. You'll also get rewards just for logging in on February 4. All players will receive a paper crane gun charm as well as a new badge that reflects when in the past year you started playing Apex Legends. You'll only earn this particular charm if you've been playing Apex Legends since basically the beginning.End Of The Season RewardsAll ranks will earn new badges at the end of Season 4, but only Gold through Apex Predator will earn a new weapon cosmetic and only Diamond and Apex Predator will earn a new dive trail.Only the highest-ranking 1500 players across the world (500 on Xbox One, 500 on PS4, and 500 on PC) will be able to earn the title of Apex Predator in Season 4.
