For the first time ever, an operator in Rainbow Six Siege is getting a significant overhaul and ditching their primary weapon. Tachanka is dropping his turret weapon in favor of a grenade launcher as part of a Year 5 update for the character. Tachanka has long struggled for relevancy in the game, but that looks set to change.IGN is reporting that while the character will still have access to the firepower of a DP28 LMG, which will now be his primary weapon. His new gadget will be the Kulakov Incendiary Grenade Launcher, which can be used to deny opponents access to certain parts of the map. This means that the character will no longer be tied to one location while attacking with their gadget.According to art director Alex Karpazis, this new weapon pairing will make the character more effective and versatile. "The design team thought it worked super well with the legend of his weapon. And it ties in well with his kit. He can roam, and he can make holes to shoot his incendiary grenades through."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Diablo and Overwatch are both getting animated series based on them, and the Diablo series will be an anime-style show for Netflix, much like Castlevania. This is according to the LinkedIn profile of Nick van Dyk, co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios, who previously served as a producer on the Netflix original animated series Skylanders Academy.According to van Dyk's description of his position within Activision, Diablo is getting an animated adaptation "rendered in anime style," which is currently in pre-production and will release worldwide through Netflix. This series has been rumored for some time, but this seems like confirmation that it is happening--although it could be a while away yet if it's still in pre-production.Further down, van Dyk mentions that he "developed and sold an animated series based on Blizzard's Overwatch franchise," alongside his creative partner. Nothing formal has been announced about this series, and it's not clear who the series has been sold to. Overwatch has frequently fleshed out its backstory with CGI animated shorts, including the Overwatch 2 announcement cinematic.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

I push past a group of brownshirts threatening a Jewish shopkeeper. They're holding placards that read "Don't buy from the Jews!" and accusing the owner of being a parasite on the German community. The woman inside cringes as I enter the shop and warns me the men outside won't like it if I buy anything. But I insist and hand her my grocery list. At the end of the exchange I have three dialogue options: "There will be better times ahead," "I'm so sorry," and "I don't know what to say." All of them feel devastating and inadequate. When you're one person trying to resist the Nazi juggernaut in 1930s Germany, your best course of action is not at all obvious; indeed, anything you choose to do can often feel futile. There were so many occasions during Through the Darkest of Times that I questioned whether I was doing the right thing or if anything I did could even make a difference. Frequently, I simply didn't know what to say. All I knew was that I had to keep fighting, keep surviving, keep resisting, and hope that it would be enough.Through the Darkest of Times is billed as a historical resistance strategy game and plays out akin to a kind of narrative boardgame as you lead a band of as many as five freedom fighters against the Reich. Its story begins in 1933 as Hitler's appointment as Chancellor confirms the Nazi party's seizure of power. The four-act structure skips ahead to 1936 and the Berlin Olympics, to the occupation of France and invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, and to the final months of the war, before a brief epilogue in 1946, a year after the Allied victory. The time periods it visits chart an emotional journey that feels authentic: Disbelief gives way to anger and fear as the truth about the Nazis' goals is revealed; suffering and grief lead to the steeling of a righteous fury; and finally, glimpses of cautious optimism are tempered by an uncertain future.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It’s human nature to be curious about what seemingly mundane and inanimate things get up to while we’re not looking. Such thinking spawned mythos like fairies in people’s gardens, borrowers, and the Toy Story saga, and now we come to street signs. What do those little human figures get up to when no-one is around? If The Pedestrian is to be believed, the answer is 2D platforming, solving lots and lots of puzzles, and taking control of electrical devices in an attempt to escape their confines. In taking control of a human figure (either with or without a dress) your adventure in The Pedestrian is mostly confined to various street signs, blueprints, and other 2D surfaces. In the background, blurred into obscurity, are the beautiful 3D landscapes of the world they exist in. You can run, jump, and climb with light platforming maneuvers to get to new areas, but the crux of The Pedestrian's puzzling comes from the ability to zoom out and rearrange the positions of the 2D signs and flat surfaces, creating doorways and new paths. Once you regain control of the person symbol, you can then use these new doorways to access the other signs to complete puzzles and move forward. Rearranging the playing field adds a layer of complexity that will have you thinking about obstacles in two different ways for the majority of the experience. It's been quite the first year for Apex Legends, Respawn's battle royale game. Over its first year, Apex Legends saw numerous changes and in-game adjustments--ranging from the addition of new characters and weapons to the implementation of daily/weekly challenges and limited-time events. Now, the battle royale game is going into its second year with Season 4: Assimilation, which adds new character Revenant, the Sentinel sniper rifle, map changes, a battle pass, and several other in-game adjustments. With the start of Year 2, Respawn wants to tackle Apex Legends a little differently. Whereas Season 1: Wild Frontier, Season 2: Battle Charge, and Season 3: Meltdown were all designed to establish Apex Legends' identity, Assimilation kicks off a year where Respawn wants to be more innovative--both in terms of what Apex Legends can offer its community as well as what the gaming industry can expect from a battle royale game. Respawn doesn't want to abandon its style of episodic storytelling, though.Year 2: A Year To Innovate"If you're getting a theme here for our second year, it really centers around innovation," Respawn COO Dusty Welch said in an interview with GameSpot. "You think about the first year of launching something, a new IP successfully, and a team that had not engaged in live service before. And so there's a lot of muscle memory you have to build up and you've got to find your stride, and you've got to protect the team and the team health along the way. You've got to find that sweet spot."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It was late one evening as Meredith Myers was lying in bed relaxing when her sister, Jenna, walked in with an expression of shock on her face. Jenna had been taking an evening stroll in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, walking past fruit trees and over wooden bridges that connect the different parts of her town. Lolly, a friendly cat who had just moved into town, locked eyes with her and ran over."I didn't realize the mechanics of the game would do this--it showed my sister the letter after Lolly had moved from my town to hers," Meredith told GameSpot. "Lolly showed her the letter she had written to me in my town."The letter her sister showed her was from their other sister, Kylie, who had passed away from cancer four years earlier.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Crunchyroll has now announced all the winners of the Anime Awards 2020. This year's show saw 19 awards given out and, much like last year, it was a pretty even spread of winners across all the categories. Both Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Kaguya-Sama: Love is War tied for the most awards--both won three categories each. Demon Slayer came out on top in the spot that matters most though, winning Anime of the Year. The Shonen series also won Best Boy (Tanjiro Kamado) and Best Fight Scene (Tanjiro & Nezuko vs. Rui). Love is War, on the other hand, went home with Best Ending Sequence ("♪ Chikatto Chika Chikaa♡" performed by Konomi Kohara), Best Couple (Kaguya Shinomiya & Miyuki Shirogane), and Best Comedy.Though a vast majority of the categories went to shows that you can watch on Crunchyroll, a few exclusives from other streaming services managed to secure awards as well. Netflix's Carole & Tuesday won Best Score (composed by Mocky), for example. Amazon Prime Video's Dororo won Best Character Design, and the streaming service's acclaimed historical fiction series Vinland Saga won Best Drama.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Back in September, we learned that the original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill, would be making their appearance in the upcoming Jurassic World 3 movie. Turns out, Jake Johnson and Omar Sy from Jurassic World (2015) will also be showing up in Jurassic World 3, making the movie a veritable reunion party across the franchise. If you recall, Jake Johnson played the role of Lowery Cruthers, a sarcastic control room operator, and Omar Sy took on the role of Barry Sembene, a velociraptor trainer. The last we saw of them, both Lowery and Barry made it off the Jurassic Park island alive.Johnson has commented before that he was disappointed Lowery didn't make a return in Fallen Kingdom and that he also wanted to further explore Lowery's budding chemistry with Lauren Lapkus's character, Vivian. Johnson also gave a few thoughts on how Lowery might change after the events of Jurassic World, stating, "We were talking about Lowery is a different guy because of what he went through in the first movie. Like he's got a huge ponytail now. I pitched that he's got sleeve tattoos. The trauma of seeing a dinosaur attack really messed him up. I thought we could have some fun."In any case, we'll have to wait until June 11, 2021 to see if any of those ideas come to fruition in Jurassic World 3. Director Colin Trevorrow, though very transparent about the casting, remains tight-lipped about the plot.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Outriders is one of the most ambitious games yet from Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment developer People Can Fly, and its studio size grew to match the project as it ballooned. It had to move to a larger location as the studio grew five times in size.In the recent issue of Game Informer, which features Outriders as the cover story, creative director Bartosz Kmita explained that publisher Square Enix helped push the project further than the studio had originally envisioned."The guys from Square would want to make this idea a little bit bigger, and little by little it grew to a lot bigger," Kmita said. "It was two things in parallel. One was the scope of the game, which grew, and the company had to grow too, to fulfill the needs we had for the production at that point."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

At the end of Stranger Things Season 3, the audience is led to believe that Hopper died in a fire, and then there is a glimmer of hope in a post-credit sequence that he may actually be alive. A new teaser for Season 4 of the hit Netflix series puts all the theories and questions to rest, for now.In a 50-second video, which you can see below, Hopper is revealed to be alive and far away from his hometown of Hawkins. What else does this teaser reveal? Not much, sadly.Considering the title of the video is "From Russia with love," the military surrounding this camp, and even the birch trees, it's safe to say Hopper is in Russia--living his new life as a guy who hammers railroad spikes into the ground. That's pretty far from his normal stomping grounds of Hawkins.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
