Persona 5 Royal is set to launch in the West next month, and along with this revamped version of the original RPG are some changes to existing, questionable dialogue. During a preview event in which I was able to get hands-on with P5R, I spoke with senior project manager Yu Namba who has played a significant role in Persona's localization going all the way back to Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. He confirmed that some problematic dialogue from the original version of Persona 5 has been changed. In Persona 5, there were two gay characters who would harass Ryuji at specific points in the game for short, inconsequential scenes. However, those characters were "portrayed [as] more like predatory," as Namba himself said. "I think the community had a very strong response to that, and you saw that, and that was definitely altered for Royal," he confirmed."As a localization manager, I really cannot do too much about what has already made it into the game," Namba admitted when asked about his capacity to make changes. But in regards to the localization team's response to the original portrayal of those characters, Namba stated, "Our team members felt a little bit of awkwardness about when working on it. And with Royal, we were determined to see if we could do something about it at least localization-wise."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The game has added a new Never Gonna Give You Up emote to the game, and it introduced it in the only way possible. In a video titled "Watch How This Bear Made the Unlikeliest of Friends," the official Fortnite YouTube channel featured a cute picture of a polar bear as the thumbnail. Once you click on the video, however, you're met with a fish doing Rick Astley's infamous dance. It's available through the in-game shop for 500 V-bucks.Rickrolling, a term used for misleading viewers into watching Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up music video, is a time-honored tradition that began around 2006.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The outbreak of the coronavirus has created concerns surrounding conferences and other large gatherings, most recently leading Facebook to cancel a conference in San Francisco. The Game Developers Conference, which also takes place every year in San Francisco, has officially announced it will go forward as planned--with some precautionary measures in place.According to an update on the GDC site, travel restrictions will prevent China-based exhibitors and attendees from attending this year. Some China-based exhibitors may be present using North American staff, but that's only about 10 out of the 550 companies being hosted at the event. In addition, the update says that the Moscone Center where GDC is hosted will augment its usual flu season cleanliness protocols to include some new measures. That includes disinfecting electrostatic sprayers in high-traffic areas, more frequent wipedowns of objects like doorknobs and microphones, more hand sanitizer stations, and daily carpet sanitation. GDC organizers are also following guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and working with San Francisco's travel bureau on cleanliness protocols for hotels.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Persona 5 is having a resurgence in 2020, with Persona 5 Royal launching on PS4 and the Nintendo Switch getting Persona 5 Scramble (which you could argue is as essential as a sequel) this month in Japan. But what about bringing the original to the Nintendo Switch? Something fans have been asking for. It's curious that Atlus is releasing a follow-up to Persona 5 on a platform where players still can't play its preceding story, with no firm indication that it's on the cards. Speaking to IGN, Atlus Communications Manager Ari Advincula didn't have any new announcements to share, but did ensure fans that Atlus is listening.“You want what you want,” Advincula explained, “and if you don't let us know it we’re never going to be able to make it.”Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

This May, Valiant comics is giving a fresh start to one of its darkest characters. A brand-new ongoing series for Shadowman is coming soon, and instead of being the traditional superhero comic, it's going to lean heavily into horror. While it's still a few months away, Valiant has given GameSpot an exclusive early look at the series, written by Cullen Bunn, art by Jon Davis-Hunt, colors by Jordie Bellaire, and letters by Clayton Cowles. While the preview pages don't have lettering yet, you can check out the first five of the issue #1 below.Unlettered pages for Shadowman #1"Shadowman is effectively a superhero, operating in a horror movie," explained David-Hunt in a press release. "He travels the world, hunting monsters, and when he finds them, he punches them into oblivion or slices them up with his seriously lethal shadow-scythe. He protects our reality from the horrors of The Deadside, and though that burden hangs heavy upon him, he still manages to keep a calm, cool attitude, even when he’s faced with unspeakable evil."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The sequel to 2018's hugely successful Spider-Man spin-off Venom is currently in production, ahead of its October release. The movie stars Tom Hardy as reporter Eddie Brock, who is host to the titular alien symbiote, Venom. Woody Harrelson will play the character of Cletus Kasady, who has been possessed by the equally dangerous Carnage. The first image of Harrelson from the Venom 2 set has been posted by Hardy.Fans of Venom will remember that Harrelson actually appeared as Kasady in that movie's post-credit sequence, where he was sitting behind bars. Based on the new image, it seems that he's out of jail in Venom 2 and has undergone a makeover.More specifically, the terrible wig that Harrelson was wearing has thankfully gone, and he's now wearing a very colourful shirt. If you're looking for a realistic free-to-play shooter to take on the go on your Switch, your search might soon be over: the multiplayer FPS Warface is coming to Nintendo's console very soon. First released in 2013 by Crytek Kiev, Warface first made its way to the PS4 and Xbox One in late 2018, where it amassed 13 million players over the course of a year. With its mix of PvP deathmatches and PvE raids, Warface is structured similarly to shooters like Destiny, but its "boots-on-the-ground" gunplay invites frequent comparisons to Call of Duty. In 2019, the team behind the game left Crytek Kiev to form their own studio, Blackwood Games, which works in tandem with publisher My.Games to maintain the free-to-play shooter.Despite its popularity, Warface has garnered a muted reception from its playerbase over the years--it currently sits at a "Mixed" reception on Steam, with over 50,000 reviews counted. Many of them accuse the game of being "pay-to-win." In our 2013 review, Nathan Meunier called Warface a slick shooter ultimately crippled by its unoriginality.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Like many other beacons of '80s nostalgia, such as Ghostbusters, fans have clamored for a reboot or sequel to the 1985 adventure film The Goonies for decades now. While Fox has finally ordered a pilot for a Goonies-related TV series, according to Variety, it's probably not exactly what fans had in mind. The untitled project will follow a substitute teacher named Stella Cooper who helps three students make a shot-for-shot remake of their favorite movie, The Goonies.Writer Sarah Watson--best-known as the creator of the acclaimed feminist TV drama The Bold Type--will helm the production. Goonies director Richard Donner will serve as executive producer. The plot of this new effort shares certain similarities with that of ambitious real-life fan-films, such as a shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark created by three Mississippi teenagers in 1989.Over the decades, there have been many, many rumors about a potential Goonies 2, including a shelved animated series for Cartoon Network, and several scripts in varying levels of completion. Several cast members have previously indicated their lack of interest in reprising their roles, but it's unclear if any of them will appear in this new TV series. Regardless of how that shakes out, as far as we're concerned, there's only one true Goonies 2: the 1987 NES game from Konami.Info from Gamespot.com
