Popstar Grimes hosted a livestream over the weekend in which she answered a whole host of fan questions. One user asked her about Cyberpunk 2077, and the singer wasn't shy when opening up about her role in the game, revealing more than developer CD Projekt Red is probably comfortable with sharing. As a result, spoilers ahead."I did my voice acting for Lizzy Wizzy, that game is going to be fucking good," Grimes explained, via Reddit. "I mean I haven't played it, but I saw someone play an hour of the game. I play a pop star who committed suicide on stage, and they had to quickly come and perform emergency surgery and replace her whole body with cybernetics while she was dead for an hour. Then she finished the show as a cyborg. One of the greatest pieces of performance art ever made."Archived video of the livestream has since been taken down, but you can watch a mirror of it below.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If you played through any of the Mass Effect trilogy, there's a high probability you played Shepherd as a Paragon opposed to a Renegade--at least on the first playthrough. And the stats back it up.According to former Bioware cinematic designer John Ebenger, around 92% of players opted to be the good guy in their Mass Effect playthrough. "Something like 92% of Mass Effect players were Paragon. And we put a lot of work in to the Renegade content too :(," Ebenger wrote in a tweet.Yup. Something like 92% of Mass Effect players were Paragon. And we put a lot of work in to the Renegade content too :( https://t.co/lywwx7n4Hy — John Ebenger (@EbengerJohn) February 19, 2020Paragon and Renegade occupied opposite sides of Mass Effect's binary morality system. Players could choose different lines of dialogue and actions that fit one of the two sides, with each decision adding points to their character's score as a either a Paragon or Renegade. Filling up one side would open up more choices down that path, so you were incentivised to pick one and stick with it instead of mixing and matching according to the situation.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Spiritfarer is shaping up to be a colorful and whimsical take on death, and the game's new teaser trailer shows off the jobs you'll be doing as a ferrymaster for deceased souls. Managing the dead isn't easy, and there are quite a few moving parts to keep under control. In the gameplay teaser, we see protagonist Stella cut down a tree with the help of the spirit cat Daffodil, and later mine for ore that is used to power the ferry. She can also shear sheep, buy items, and harvest crops, and she can feed townspeople in order to strengthen relationships. Despite the macabre central theme, it's still a lighthearted game with kindness at its core.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

This story originally appeared on GameSpot sister site TV Guide. In the 1990s, black storytellers were having a moment in Hollywood. As noted in this now kinda cringey New York Times story, black was "in," and Hollywood decision-makers were "beginning to recognize that a white audience will spend money to see black movies." Black filmmakers like Melvin Van Peebles, the Hudlin brothers, and Robert Townsend got resources and support to tell their stories; on TV, shows like Living Single and Moesha became hits and helped then-burgeoning networks Fox and UPN grow their businesses. The era didn't last. By the 2000s, black film directors found themselves no longer in demand, and on TV, network mergers and increased appetites for reality TV meant pivoting away from majority-black shows in favor of appealing to "mainstream" (read: white) audiences, as outlined in the 2005 book The Sitcom Reader. Some 30 years later, black storytellers are wondering if history is about to repeat itself, even as they celebrate progress. Today, black superheroes are finally thriving on TV, with shows such as Doom Patrol and The Boys putting black superheroes front and center after decades of being relegated to the sidelines or ignored altogether. Steps forward in representation have been a long time coming, but with characters like Sister Night (Regina King) of Watchmen, and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) of the upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier dismantling the myth that black heroes can't appeal to everyone, it sure seems as if we're only at the beginning of a movement with boundless potential. To hear experts and creators tell it, though, optimism comes with caution.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Last month, Overwatch developer Blizzard announced the impending addition of a new experimental card that allows players to test out possible radical changes to gameplay. Today, director Jeff Kaplan revealed the details behind the first experimental mode that will most likely be released February 25th, "but stuff could go wrong, [and it] may be delayed a little bit."Named the Triple Damage, the experimental mode is for damage players. Instead of the standard two tanks, three damage characters, and two supports, this exploratory setting will introduce a new team composition: one tank, three damage characters, and one support player. It's a pretty big change, especially for tank mains, and Kaplan assured fans that any setting tested in the experimental card is not one that will be definitely implemented. That is to say: tank players, do not worry about this team composition becoming permanentContinue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The next installment in Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible series is in production in Italy. At least, it was until an outbreak of the coronavirus brought it to a screeching halt.It was revealed by the New York Times that Italy has 150 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, and in turn, at least 10 towns are now locked down, and schools in major cities are closed, along with sporting events--including an early end to the Venice carnival. Additionally, this means that the production of Mission Impossible 7 is put on hold for now.In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson from Paromount Pictures explained why production has stopped. "Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission: Impossible 7. During this hiatus, we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts. We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It has officially been a year since Red Candle Games was forced to delist its outstanding first-person psychological horror title, Devotion, and there is still no sign that it will ever return. However, Harvard University will be taking steps to ensure that the game and its legacy, will be preserved.According to a post from Red Candle’s Facebook page, the Harvard-Yenching Library in Cambridge, Massachusetts will be adding both Devotion and its predecessor, harrowing indie horror title Detention, to its collection. The library is home to one of the biggest and most carefully curated collections of historically significant East Asian art in the United States.Famously, Devotion was pulled due to outrage from Chinese players that the game contained art assets seemingly mocking Chinese president Xi Jinping, and pointing out his resemblance to Winnie the Pooh, a sensitive subject in the country. Devotion's removal led to Red Candle Games' publisher pulling all support for it, and its removal from sale on Steam. All videos of Devotion were also removed from the company’s YouTube channel, and Red Candle Games left Weibo, China's biggest social media platform. However, the inclusion of Detention in the library suggests the games are being inducted less for their controversy but for being legitimately powerful East Asian art. Both games use the actual historical backdrop of Taiwan in the 1970s and 1980s to tell their horror stories. With only ten days on the market, Devotion’s legacy has become much like P.T.'s: a game better known for its tragic cancellation more than the brilliant, thought-provoking horror experience it is.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Although recently released creature-collecting MMO Temtem borrows a lot from a lovely little series you may have heard of called Pokemon, it also takes pains to distinguish itself from the most profitable entertainment franchise of all time. One such diversion is Temtem’s unwavering commitment to double battles, to the extent that single battles have been entirely purged from its format. As Kallie Plagge mentioned in her piece on what Pokemon can learn from Temtem, that’s a good thing.Doubles is the most prestigious category in competitive Pokemon circuits--in fact, it is the official format for Pokemon’s VGC (Video Game Championship) tournaments. However, many Pokemon fans will have rarely experienced the dynamic of double battles outside of the few-and-far-between instances in single-player, which is why it’s significant that Temtem has adopted the format exclusively.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

This story originally appeared on GameSpot sister site TV Guide. The science on what exactly happened Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016--the day Marvel's Luke Cage hit Netflix--is fuzzy, but whether due to a glitch or overwhelming demand, Netflix undoubtedly went down the day after Season 1 of the superhero drama was released. Netflix never gave an official explanation for the oopsie, but it doesn't matter: In contemporary black mythology, Luke Cage broke Netflix that fall day, just like John Henry was a real man and Beyoncé made the lights go out at the Super Bowl. Luke Cage, a bulletproof black man played with sturdy, studly aplomb by Mike Colter, was not the first black superhero lead of a TV show (that distinction belongs to M.A.N.T.I.S. in 1994) but he was the first for Marvel, the first of the 2000s, and surely the first black superhero to bring a hip-hop soaked "unapologetic blackness" to the small screen.Subsequent years have seen people of color represented on television at record high levels, but when Luke Cage debuted in 2016, the series became part of the blackest year on television at that point in history. Empire, a huge hit for Fox, was in its second season; Atlanta was in its impressive first. Beyoncé's Lemonade made its stunning surprise debut, disrupting the definitions of both "music video" and "slay," and President Barack Obama visited Cuba with his family, thawing decades of diplomatic ice with the Caribbean nation and beaming a not-subtle message of solidarity between black and brown people to screens all over the world.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

This story originally appeared on GameSpot sister site TV Guide. We're living in a superhero boom, where comic book heroes are no longer considered part of a niche sector of pop culture but rather a mainstream attraction. Recent years have seen a huge rise in the quantity of these larger-than-life stories, which is slowly leading to increased representation of marginalized communities on-screen as Hollywood works toward becoming more inclusive.Charismatic heroes like Black Panther's regal king T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and Captain America's ultra-charming Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) are lighting up the big screen, while TV today is teeming with small-screen crusaders such as Titans' luminous heroine Starfire (Anna Diop) and DC's Legends of Tomorrow's quirky antihero Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers).Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
