COVID-19, more commonly referred to as the coronavirus, is affecting the entertainment industry hard in recent weeks. Movie releases are being delayed, conventions are seeing talent and publishers drop out, and theme parks are closing. Much like how the coronavirus is affecting the gaming industry, these are precautionary measures in order to stop or slow the spread of the highly contagious disease.Conventions Affected By COVID-19While we saw companies drop out from the Games Developer Conference (GDC) in recent weeks before it was outright delayed, comic conventions are also seeing major companies drop out from the shows. Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC), Seattle's convention taking place March 12-15, has seen DC Comics--which is also canceling all March conventions--Penguin Random House, and now, Dark Horse Comics drop out from the show amid coronavirus concerns.Important #ECCC2020 notice: Due to the severity of the COVID-19 virus, Dark Horse Comics has made the difficult decision to pull out of Emerald City Comic Con 2020. It is with the safety and well-being of our staff and creators in mind that we have come to this decision. 1/2 — Dark Horse Comics (@DarkHorseComics) March 3, 2020At the time of this writing, ECCC is still happening as scheduled, even though talent in artist's alley have also been dropping out. Eisner-winning illustrator Jen Bartel is the latest to cancel their appearance. After getting announced during Nintendo's Gamescom 2019 presentation, the indie skateboarding game Skater XL will launch on PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One sometime this year.Developer Easy Day Studios took to the PlayStation blog to detail some of the gameplay mechanics players can expect when Skater XL leaves Steam Early Access this year. To give you more freedom than EA's Skate franchise and the legendary Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, Skater XL assigns each foot to a thumbstick. Thus, the left stick controls your left foot while the right stick controls your right foot. This will allow for a deeper level of "expression, personalization, and style [of] gameplay," studio director Dain Hedgpeth wrote.Hedgpeth also said that Skater XL's "core gameplay is designed more as an expressive and creative tool than a traditional video game with pre-set challenges to complete, [featuring] several real-world locations based on iconic skate spots from California and the West Coast." A concrete release date has yet to be provided.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The song has gone viral, inspiring many covers on YouTube. It's probably stuck in your head, and that's the same for actor Joey Batey.Asked by Variety for his thoughts on the song, he said, "It's pretty hellish, yeah. I think it's a crackin' song, but I've been listening to it for about a year now. I'll get in the shower and just start going, 'Toss a coin….'" Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Netflix might be one of the premier players in the streaming landscape, but when it comes to viewership specifics, they're very tight-lipped. During a recent appearance on Conan O'Brien's podcast, comedian Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe), revealed that not even she knows the exact viewership of her two Netflix comedy specials, Cobra Baby and Hard Knock Wife. The topic came up during a discussion of Wong's decision to work while pregnant, and whether or not it had an impact on her career."They're so secretive about their metrics," the comic said. "To this day, I still don't know how many people watched either of those specials. It was so confusing at first. When Baby Cobra came out in 2016, there were a lot of pieces written about it, specifically the fact that I talked about my miscarriages...but there was no way for me to know how well it did."This isn't the first time that Netflix's byzantine approach to their viewership statistics has attracted attention. Back in January, the streaming company revealed that if a user watches a piece of content for a scant two minutes, it counts as a view. At the same time, the company did reveal some viewership projections for some of its biggest shows, as well as giving users the ability to disable autoplaying video ads.Info from Gamespot.com
