Listen up, Black Panther fans. To celebrate the upcoming release of Black Panther on digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Marvel has teamed up with Microsoft to create a limited-edition Xbox One X console. The best part? They're giving it away for free. Acquiring one is a long-shot, because only five of these machines exist. But your only chance to get your hands on one is by entering the sweepstakes (US and Canada only). You can enter for a chance to win once each day between now and May 29, 2018.The machine itself is decked out in patterns of black, gray, and gold, with the faces of Black Panther and Killmonger etched on both the console and the two controllers that come with it. Each console comes with a physical copy of Black Panther in 4K Ultra HD.Seeing as a standard Xbox One X console only comes with one controller and costs $500, winning this limited-edition one could save you a nice chunk of change. The console can run a growing list of Xbox One X-enhanced games in 4K. It can also make older games that have been updated--like Red Dead Redemption--look incredible. It can also play back 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. In GameSpot's Xbox One X review, Jimmy Thang wrote, "While the Xbox One X is an expensive box, from a hardware standpoint, you're getting a very powerful and capable machine. You'll be hard pressed to build a comparably powerful PC for $500. On top of that, you get a 4K HDR Blu-ray player, which can cost several hundred dollars on its own."Not a bad deal for the five lucky winners of this limited-edition Black Panther Xbox One X console.Info from Gamespot.com

A lot of new content is on the way to Star Wars Battlefront II on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Ahead of the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, EA and DICE are kicking off Han Solo Season in Battlefront II, which will bring an assortment of new content to the game themed around the galaxy's most famous scoundrel. The first leg of Han Solo Season begins next week, on May 16, with content inspired by the original Star Wars film trilogy. First, DICE is bringing back the Jabba's Palace map from the first Star Wars Battlefront, which will be available in Blast, Heroes vs. Villains, and a new game mode being introduced during Han Solo Season: Hero Showdown.Hero Showdown is a round-based elimination mode that allows players to pair up characters and pit them in two-on-two Hero vs. Villains battles. EA says this game type will require players to "bring out their wits and tactics," as they will have to pick a new duo to take into battle after each round.Additionally, DICE is adding new Appearances inspired by the opening act of Return of the Jedi, including Lando Calrissian's Skiff Guard disguise and Leia in Boushh's bounty hunter gear. These Appearances can be purchased either with Credits--which are earned through regular play--or the premium currency Crystals, which were reintroduced in Battlefront II last month as part of the Night on Endor update. Finally, the initial wave of Han Solo Season adds a much-requested mode to the game: Starfighter Custom Arcade. Here, EA says you will "be able to hone your skills in the cockpit with Starfighters from all eras, whether you're aiming to turn Rebellion X-wings into stardust with your TIE/LN or hop into the Millennium Falcon to fly circles around enemy starfighters."More content will arrive in June during the second leg of Han Solo Season. EA hasn't announced what new features it will introduce to the game next month, but it did tease that the content will be themed around the aforementioned Solo: A Star Wars Story, which premieres in theaters on May 25. You can find more details about Han Solo Season on the official Battlefront II website.Info from Gamespot.com

Season 4 of Fortnite: Battle Royale's Week 2 challenges are now live, providing players who own the Battle Pass with seven different objectives to complete. Some of these make use of new Season 4 gameplay elements (such as Hop Rocks), while others offer more challenging tasks that could require the use of a map. Here are the locations for all the key objectives and some tips on how to complete them.Among the challenges is the aforementioned one to consume Hop Rocks. You'll need to use seven in all--a task that's not especially difficult, provided you know where to look. Hop Rocks can be found in a number of places, but they're most abundant in Dusty Divot, the crater formed as part of Season 4's map update. Head there, and you'll find purple objects floating outside the fenced-in area surrounding the comet. Simply walk up to one and hold the same key or button you'd use to open a chest, and you'll consume a Hop Rock--temporarily granting you the ability to jump much higher than usual.Another challenge is to dance in front of different film cameras. You'll need to find seven cameras in all; these are another new element introduced as part of Season 4, which features a moviemaking theme. This is as simple as it sounds--just find a camera and perform a dance emote in front of it. The only tricky part is tracking all of these down, and many are not in named locations. Luckily, there are more than seven total, so it's not as difficult as it could be. Here's a map for 10 film camera locations we've verified:The other more involved challenge for Week 2 is labeled by Epic as a Hard-difficulty one, meaning it nets you 10 Battle Stars, twice the number as most challenges. It asks you to search between a scarecrow, pink hotrod, and a big screen. This requires you to have either a strong knowledge of the island or a map--either way, you simply head to a point in between all three of the stated objects to find a Battle Pass icon you can collect by holding the Use button/key. This can be found directly east of Risky Reels, as seen in the map below. The remainder of the challenges are fairly straightforward, though they may require some time and luck. You'll have to search chests in Greasy Grove, which is really just a matter of spending enough time in the area. (As always, check out attics when looking for chests.) Another asks you to deal damage with suppressed weapons to opponents (500) total, which is just a matter of happening upon the right weapon and then making use of it.Similarly, you'll need to rack up three explosive weapon eliminations, which includes both things like grenades and rocket launchers. (Your best bet may be in a solo playlist, where you don't have to worry about downing enemies that can be revived.) And finally, you'll need to eliminate three opponents in Tomato Town. Just drop there at the start of a match and try to track down a weapon before anyone else. For more help, you can also check out our Week 1 challenges guide, as well as our roundup of all Season 4 challenges. Completing these is the fastest way to level up your Battle Pass, allowing to get your hands on this season's skins and rewards.Fortnite Season 4, Week 2 ChallengesSearch Chests in Greasy Grove (7) -- 5 Battle StarsConsume Hop Rocks (7) -- 5 Battle StarsDeal damage with Suppressed Weapons to opponents (500) -- 5 Battle StarsDance in front of different film cameras (7) -- 5 Battle StarsHard: Search between a Scarecrow, Pink Hotrod, and a Big Screen -- 10 Battle StarsHard: Explosive Weapon Eliminations (3) -- 10 Battle StarsHard: Eliminate opponents in Tomato Town (3) -- 10 Battle StarsReward: 5k XP (after completing four challenges)Info from Gamespot.com

Steam is primarily intended as a means for downloading and playing games on a computer, but Valve has extended that further over the years--Steam Link allows you to stream games to a TV over your local network. Valve is now taking that concept one step further by ditching the hardware and bringing the games to your mobile device.Valve has announced plans to launch two new apps in the near future that will make your Steam library even more valuable. An app version of Steam Link launches the week of May 21 and allows you to stream games to Android and iOS devices. On the Android side, that includes phones, tablets, and TVs, while supported iOS devices include iPhones, iPads, and even Apple TVs.A beta will offer only Android support at first, and your device will have to be connected to the local network through either a 5Ghz wireless or wired Ethernet connection. You'll be able to use the Steam Controller, MFI controllers, and other devices to play. The Steam Link app will be followed "later this summer" by a Steam Video app. This will allow you to watch the movies and shows sold by Steam (yes, Steam sells those--and productivity software--too) on the aforementioned devices. As latency is much less of a concern, you'll be able to stream video over Wi-Fi or LTE. Valve says it will also support offline playback. It remains to be seen how well these apps will work, but if they're up to snuff, it could turn out to be a very nice perk for those who already use Steam.Info from Gamespot.com

Among the ways in which Bungie has tried to expand Destiny 2 with the new Warmind DLC is with a dash of mystery. The Override Frequency is one such example, as they serve as a post-campaign objective for players to embark on. But the game doesn't provide a lot of information about what they are, how they work, or where to find them--here's what you need to know, as well as the potential Exotic weapon reward, Sleeper Simulant.Override Frequencies aren't of concern until after you finish Warmind's story, which isn't especially time-consuming. Knock all of those missions out along with those you get from Ana Bray, your new handler/vendor on Mars, and you'll begin to acquire a new type of consumable item called a Resonate Stem. These are acquired only from certain activities, including Patrols, Public Events, Adventures, and possibly by eliminating high-value targets and completing Lost Sectors. However you obtain them, once you've collected four Resonate Stems, you can combine them in your inventory to create an Override Frequency. There are numerous possible versions you can get, but there are no clear instructions about what to do with it. The description appears to be gibberish--for instance, you might get one that reads "CB.NAV/RUN.()Futurescape.Dock.Garage." In fact, these serve as hints telling you where you need to go.Specifically, it's the text that's not in all capital letters that you'll want to pay attention to. The first portion of our example, Futurescape, directs you to an area labeled on the map. From there, you head to the dock and then to the garage. When you get to the location your item leads you to, you'll find a floating object (which looks like two inverted pyramids stacked on top of one another) that essentially functions like a locked chest. Provided you've gone to the right location, the Override Frequency you have will unlock the node. You can be sure you're in the right place both because you'll see the "Collect Loot" prompt and because you'll hear music coming from it. You can bump into these nodes at any time in Warmind, but only once you have the correct Override Frequency can you open them. When opening these nodes, you'll get your hands on rewards like engrams and shaders. But opening them is part of a larger, overarching quest that you can keep track of with Ana. It's unclear at this point what completing all 40 of the nodes gets you, but players have reported receiving the Sleeper Simulant--an Exotic linear fusion rifle--after doing 15 of them. However, you need to get the quest for Sleeper Simulant in order to track progress for that, so you may want to wait to cash in your Override Frequencies until you get your hands on that.Warmind is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, offering a new campaign set on Mars along with new Crucible content and gear to acquire, as well as a new horde-style activity and a Raid Lair. This was all accompanied by a new update that makes changes to Exotic weapons along with a wide range of improvements.Info from Gamespot.com

Bandai Namco is releasing a big update for Dragon Ball FighterZ this week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The patch is scheduled to roll out tomorrow, May 9, and introduces two new features to the Dragon Ball fighting game, along with an assortment of gameplay improvements. [Update: The patch is now live on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.]Most notably, the update adds a new type of competition called the FighterZ Cup. These will be held monthly and have players battling to earn points for their respective Z-Union. Additionally, the update introduces Party Battle. This mode allows three players to team up and fight "fearsome bosses." Bandai Namco says it will share additional details about each new feature "soon."On top of the aforementioned modes, the update makes some balance adjustments to a handful of characters. Krillin will now always throw a rock for his Z Assist unless players are inputting left when he appears on the screen, and the duration of the Z Assist's hit stun has been increased. Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta's "On a Scale of One to Ten, I'll Give You a Three" attack has been tweaked to make it easier to grab an opponent, while the recovery frame of Beerus's down-medium attack has been reduced. Several prominent characters like Adult Gohan and Android 16 also receive some nerfs. Finally, this week's update addresses a long list of bugs. These are primarily either character-specific or situational, but among the changes, developer Arc System Works has fixed an issue that would result in the players' character losing their ability to move properly after using a Z Reflect against certain attacks, such as Android 16's Hell Flash. The developer has also addressed a number of issues in Training Mode. You can find the full patch notes for the update on Bandai Namco's website.Bandai Namco recently unveiled two more DLC characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ: Fused Zamasu and Super Saiyan Blue Vegito. The latter has yet to be formally announced, but fans have already gotten a chance to see him in action after Bandai Namco Taiwan prematurely shared Vegito's character trailer on its Facebook page. The publisher still hasn't shared pricing or release details for the new DLC characters yet, but the previous pair of add-on fighters, Bardock and Broly, could be purchased individually for $5.This story has been updated.Info from Gamespot.com

Week 2 of Fortnite's Season 4 challenges have been released for Battle Pass owners. These offer a set of objectives to complete when you're not getting killed trying to become Thanos, and they each come with Battle Stars to level up and earn skins and rewards. But as with the first week, Season 4's new Blockbuster challenges offer a free Battle Pass tier--provided you've got a good eye.Once again, completing all of the challenges from a given week completes one of the Blockbuster challenges. And as with the previous week, the reward is a loading screen that is hiding a secret. Whereas the first Blockbuster challenge loading screen had the faint outline of a free Battle Pass tier that you could obtain in-game, this one hides map coordinates for the freebie.Over on Reddit, user Bfor45 (with the help of fellow user qwert5656) was able to quickly crank out the Week 2 challenges, thus earning the Blockbuster reward. If you look carefully at the brick wall in the background, there are several alphanumeric combinations that correspond with areas on the in-game map: A3, A4, B3, B4.If you follow where this guides you to (just south of Haunted Hills, as seen in the map above), you can find the Battle Pass icon and collect it to earn one free rank-up. However, be aware that this only appears if you've completed the corresponding Blockbuster challenge; you can't cheat your way there by skipping the prerequisites, as you can with individual challenges that send you to a specific location.Week 2's challenges offer a mixture of fairly straightforward ones, like getting explosive kills and opening chests in Greasy Grove, and some that are more involved, like dancing in front of film cameras and searching between a scarecrow, pink hotrod, and a big screen. We have a guide to help you complete all of these, which will in turn let you get this Blockbuster freebie.Info from Gamespot.com

E3 2018 will undoubtedly bring with it a variety of surprise game announcements, but a number of those may have been leaked by Walmart Canada's website. Since-deleted listings for numerous unannounced games--some expected, like Borderlands 3, and others seemingly wrong, like Forza Horizon 5--have been published on the website, as noticed by Wario64. But so far, only one of those has led to a response from the corresponding game's official Twitter account. One game listed on Walmart's website despite not having been officially announced is Rage 2. Whenever these kinds of listings happen, be it accurate or not, publishers tend to stay relatively quiet, offering nothing more than a carbon copy statement about not commenting on rumors or speculation. Rage's official Twitter account had a different take:Hey @WalmartCanada here are a few notes. pic.twitter.com/R1od2aTEMC — RAGE (@RAGEgame) May 9, 2018Yes, the official Twitter account has not only acknowledged the leak, but it's offered Walmart some friendly advice on the page's errors. It's even replaced its profile picture and banner to match.Publisher Bethesda's Twitter account also chimed in with a tweet simply saying, "Dude." And Pete Hines, Bethesda's marketing boss, responded to that with one tweet before also chipping in with another that says, "This is why we can't have nice things."None of this outright states that Rage 2 is real, but it's an unusual but welcome tact. If it is indeed one of the announcements Bethesda plans to make at its E3 press conference on June 10, it might as well take advantage and pick up some free Twitter followers by endearing itself to fans in the process. The Walmart leak also purports to reveal numerous other games. There's a new Splinter Cell (which has been teased), Borderlands 3 (strongly believed to be in the works), Gears of War 5, Assassin's Creed, Just Cause 4, and Dragon Quest 2. Others feature either typos (such as Lego DC Villains being spelled as "Villans") and Forza "Horizons" 5, even though the next game in the series would be Forza Horizon 4. Retailer leaks have certainly proven to be accurate in the past, but they're not by any means a guaranteed source of information. This might all prove to be a letdown when none of it is announced at E3, but at least Rage's community management team found a way to have some fun with it. Info from Gamespot.com

Fortnite: Battle Royale's latest limited-time mode, Infinity Gauntlet is very cool: Rather than the typical shake-up the game sees, it allows one player to become Avengers: Infinity War bad guy Thanos and run wild on the competition. It's a fun twist on Fortnite--albeit one that can be frustrating if you can't actually get your hands on the Infinity Gauntlet--but those who have been lucky enough to play as Thanos have found he's capable of emoting. And that doesn't just mean he can point or wave--he can eat popcorn or even dance. It's the latter which has served as the inspiration for a new video shared by Reddit user IsaacDaKing, who I believe has gotten more than their money's worth from their video-editing software. The video shows dancing Thanos edited into the background of the big showdown from Guardians of the Galaxy, where Star-Lord dances in order to distract Ronin. After munching on some popcorn, Thanos gets in on the fun by busting out a dance of his own. This followed another video shared on Reddit by user bignoof. That one brings popcorn-eating Thanos into the iconic Matrix-style shot from The Avengers, where the camera circles around our group of heroes as they look out at the enemy force that awaits them (i.e. a massive green screen). Whereas they look concerned, he seems to be enjoying the whole situation.Fortnite's Thanos mode is only around for a limited time, although developer Epic has not shared an end date as of yet. It has said not to expect any Marvel or Avengers skins, although who knows what the popularity of the event could lead to. Epic has had to step in and nerf Thanos already, as he was deemed to be too powerful--he's very difficult to kill and does a huge amount of damage. By slightly weakening him, the hope is to give more players the opportunity to wield the Infinity Gauntlet. The mode debuted not long after the start of Season 4, which came as part of the broader 4.0 update. That made some significant changes to the map, bringing an end to the speculation around the comet. Players have since uncovered a secret hatch that may signal the game's next big mystery. Monster Hunter: World is truly a phenomenal success. Capcom announced today that the game has now shipped 7.9 million copies worldwide since its release at the end of January. This is good as of March 31, and it's up from the 7.5 million figure announced in March.Capcom said Monster Hunter: World is a "massive, record-setting success," adding that it's now Capcom's "best-selling title in company history." That may be true by the way Capcom measured sales, but other Capcom games have actually sold more units. Whatever the case, Monster Hunter: World is a huge success, and that's encouraging to see.Capcom announced the sales figure as part of its latest earnings report for the fiscal year ended March 31. The Monster Hunter: World sales helped Capcom's overall net revenue reach ¥94.5 billion (up 8.4 percent), with operating income coming in at ¥16 billion (up 17.5 percent). In addition to Monster Hunter: World, Capcom called out Monster Hunter XX and Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers for Nintendo Switch as top performers. Looking ahead, Capcom said it wants to "strengthen digital download sales" to help boost overall revenue and profitability; digital content is higher margin than traditional boxed media. Capcom also plans to further invest itself in the esports market, at least in Japan."In response to the worldwide excitement surrounding esports, and the increased attention paid to them within the Japanese market, Capcom is committed to making this sector a priority area of investment for business resources, and has established a new, dedicated esports division and facilities," Capcom said. You can read Capcom's full earnings report here.Info from Gamespot.com

Electronic Arts today reported earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter and the company had a record year, despite all the noise and controversy surrounding Star Wars: Battlefront II.For the full year ended March 31, EA pulled in revenue of $5.15 billion (up 6.2 percent), while profit was $1.04 billion (up 7.9 percent). Results were rosy for the fiscal fourth quarter, too. Revenue for the period jumped 3.6 percent to $1.582 billion with profit up 7.2 percent to $607 million. (Percentage changes provided by GI.biz).The good times for EA are expected to roll on in the current fiscal year. EA said it expects to make $5.6 billion in revenue for the period and a profit of $1.11 billion. EA's lineup of big-name, revenue-driving titles for the year include BioWare's new IP Anthem, the next Battlefield game, all the EA Sports games, and whatever other surprises may be in store."Fiscal 2018 was a year of strong growth and continued transformation for Electronic Arts, as we expanded the reach of our leading franchises like FIFA, Battlefield, and The Sims to more players across more platforms and geographies," EA CEO Andrew Wilson said. "In the year ahead, we will expand the world of play with amazing new experiences and new IP, more competition, and industry-leading subscription programs. There has never been a more exciting time to be engaging and entertaining global communities."EA CFO Blake Jorgensen added, "Our success is driven by the way we have changed, and continue to change, our relationship with players. They want more depth in their favorite games, and fresh content that can hold their attention year-round. This has made our business much more stable and enabled us to deliver a dependable and growing cash flow to investors."In the wake of massive criticism from fans, EA removed microtransactions from Star Wars: Battlefront II just before the game launched in November 2017. Microtransactions were added back in April, so whatever revenue EA has made and continues to make from them will not be publicised until EA's next earnings report later this year. Unsurprisingly, it was EA's digital business that helped spur growth during the year. What EA calls "digital net bookings"--which include mobile, full-game downloads, and "live services" i.e. microtransactions--surged 17 percent to reach $3.538 billion during the year. Here are some other takeaways from EA's report today: "Nearly 18 million players engaged in competitive gaming across FIFA 18 and Madden NFL 18, up more than 75% year-over-year.""The Battlefield community, across current generation consoles and PC HD, now has more than 54 million players life to date.""The Sims community had more than 80 million Sims players across PC and mobile in fiscal 2018."For more on EA's earnings report today, check out the additional stories linked below. This Year's New Battlefield Game Teased By EAFortnite Could Have A Lasting, Significant Impact On Gaming Industry Overall, EA SaysBioWare's New IP Anthem Will Let You Play EarlyInfo from Gamespot.com

Battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG could have a major, lasting impact on the gaming industry overall, according to publisher Electronic Arts. During a Q&A with investors today following the company's latest earnings report, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said EA welcomes innovation because it helps bring new players to gaming, which in turn helps EA."We welcome innovation in the industry," Jorgensen said. "That's what makes this business so exciting and fun to operate in. If you look back over the 20 or 30 years, the innovation that one game team's done goes through the whole industry. It's fantastic. We welcome innovators like Fortnite or PUBG that really help everyone's thinking. We feel that's great for the business as whole."While Fortnite is supremely popular, a single game is not going to sink publishers like EA. Jorgensen intimated that Fortnite's success has had some level of impact on its business--because of course it has--but he said the impact hasn't been meaningful. He pointed out that no one game can capture 100 percent of the market. While Fortnite as a shooter game is theoretically competing with EA's lineup of shooters like Battlefield and Battlefront, Epic's title is also helping expand the shooter category. He theorised that Fortnite is helping bring young players to gamers, who may eventually move on to other games--like maybe the next Battlefield game."In particular, [Fortnite is] bringing younger people into the marketplace and younger people into first-person shooters, and I think that's good for the long run health of that category for all of us in the industry," Jorgensen said.During the last EA earnings call in January, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the global FPS community is undoubtedly interested in battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG. And while he did not rule out adding a battle royale mode to a Battlefield game, he said EA's wider focus is to think about "new and innovative ways to play" across all of its games. In other battle royale news, Fortnite recently added an Avengers: Infinity War crossover event that brings Thanos to the game. Video cards have been tough to find recently, and even if you could find one in stock, it was probably selling for two to three times its normal price. This has been due to a surge in cryptocurrency mining and video cards' efficiency at performing the task. It has also created a strange excitement for when a video card is available for close to MSRP; even then, stock would run dry rather quickly. However, Nvidia is making a push to let PC players know that GPUs are out there, "with great availability across retailers at prices gamers can afford."Of course, you should note that stock can run out at any minute, so if you've been eyeing a GTX 10-series card for a while, you might want to take that into consideration.
