Between it's stacked cast and interesting "detective-forward" concept, Matt Reeves' upcoming Batman movie, The Batman, has fans justifiably excited. This afternoon at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Los Angeles, co-star Zoe Kravitz, who has been confirmed in the role of Catwoman aka Selina Kyle, was able to offer up a few updates as to the project's progress while promoting her upcoming Hulu series, High Fidelity.

"She's a great character. I'm very excited to play her. The script is wonderful, really grounded and deep and I can't say more than that because I'll get fired," Kravitz said. "The whole Batman world has always been the most interesting to me. I think Catwoman is an iconic character. I was never into a lot of comic books but that world was always really intriguing to me. And then, of course, Michelle Pfeiffer and, you know, her performance is always super inspiring to me. So it just felt iconic and I think Catwoman/Selina Kyle represents really strong femininity and I'm excited to dive into that."

She continued, explaining that she believes "femininity means power and I think it's a different kind of power than masculine power. And that's something I think is really interesting about Batman and Catwoman. I think Batman represents a very masculine power and Catwoman represents a very feminine power, slightly more complicated. And softer too. I like the idea that you can be soft, you can be gentle, and still be very powerful and so very dangerous."

Kravitz will be joined by Robert Pattinson as Batman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffery Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Collin Farrell as The Penguin, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. The Batman hits theaters on June 21, 2021.
